CHAPTER 3
Matt's Day Out
*1 day left until the party*
Great Fox: Interior
Matt Sterling just woke up with a surprising amount of energy as he continues to get ready for the day despite it being super early in the morning he grabs water from his mini fridge and takes a sip of the water bottle. Matt had just remembered he planned on hitting the new and improved holographic training simulator with the new combat data he and Samus gathered from the Tag Team Tournament.
"Oh shoot! I forgot I was supposed to feed the new combat data into the holographic training simulator!" Matt Sterling shouted before running out of his quarters to the training room.
As Matt Sterling runs to the training room he runs pass Haro
"Hi Haro!" Matt Sterling said as he ran past the green spherical robot.
"Hello Matt. Hello Mat-AH!" said Haro before getting comically spun around due to Matt Sterling running to the training room.
"Matt, slow down! Matt, slow down!" Haro said while wobbling around.
"Sorry about that Haro!" Matt Sterling shouted.
As Matt Sterling finally made it to the training room he opened the door to the holographic training simulator and approached the control console to begin uploading the combat data. Matt Sterling pulled out a USB driver and uploaded all the data into the systems of the training simulator.
"Data upload complete." a computerized voice said signaling that all the data was successfully uploaded to the system.
"Alright, now that's out of the way, how about a little warm up training with this new data?" Matt Sterling said to himself with anticipation.
Matt Sterling then was setting up the simulation. After he got the basic setup stuff out of the way he began to select an area as an array of simulated environments appeared on the screen with a flash. Matt Sterling studied the environments to see which one would be the best fit for training with the new combat data he acquired from the Tag Team Tournament. As Matt Sterling continued to browse the areas he found what appears to be an environment that looks perfect for the type of battle he was thinking of. The area in question is a Galactic Federation research and archeology facility that is connected to a cave filled with Chozo ruins. With that, Matt Sterling instantly selected that environment in a heartbeat, after he selected the environment he then was brought to a screen where he can select his opponent or opponents.
"Hmm you know what? I'm in the mood for a challenge today. Computer, enable the multi-man onslaught mode!" Matt Sterling says with a look of confidence and determination on his face as a smile forms around his muzzle.
"Multi-man onslaught mode enabled! Please select your group of opponents and number of waves." a computerized voice said enabling the combat mode.
"Let's see, the Mane Six are definitely a must have, I'll even throw in the Future Mane Six along with Tanjiro, Luz Noceda and Clown Vomit-er I mean Amity Blight because why not?" Matt Sterling said with a small shrug as he chose the simulated opponents he would want to face.
Matt then noticed that he can add a few more opponents to the list of opponents he'll face.
"Eh, I'm bored. I think I'll add the Elemental 10 here also into the mix and I'm in the mood for a challenge honestly." Matt Sterling said knowing what usually happens when he gets bored, a bunch of crazy stuff ensues.
"Opponents selected, please select hostile units." the same computerized voice said as it showed different types of enemy units to select.
"Ok then, I think I'll add some Space Pirate Troopers, Equestrian Troopers, Venomain Remnant and Ruffian Corps Troopers, Goombas, Koopas, Bob-ombs, Hammer Bros, Darknuts, Imperial Purge Troopers, and Imperial Stormtroopers will be common enemy units for this session." Matt Sterling said as he organized the enemy placements and completed the setup.
"All systems ready! Please step into the training arena" The computerized voice says as it automatically opens the door to the holographic simulation room.
Matt Sterling steps inside to begin his training and transforms into his Varia Suit (the one seen in Metroid Dread) like that one scene where Samus transforms into her Power Suit in Metroid Other M. Just then the holographic simulation starts projecting the environment that Matt Sterling chose and starts to spawn some of the enemy units.
"Begin combat in 3…. 2…. 1…Start!" the computerized voice said as Matt Sterling began his combat training
*MULTIPLAYER THEME 1 (HUNTERS) (METROID PRIME 2 ECHOES)*
Matt Sterling charges at some of the simulated foes and fires some shots from his arm cannon while deflecting some attacks with his lightsaber which defeats the simulated enemies. An simulated Equestrian trooper was about to sneak up and attack Matt Sterling but he dodged just in time using Flash Shift which made him dash with a blue light
"Too slow!" Matt Sterling taunts as he dodged the attack before slicing off the simulated Equestrian trooper's arm before finishing it off with a charged wave beam shot as it exploded into small pixelated cubes and disintegrated along with the rest of the defeated simulated foes.
"Man, I'm doing good! If I keep this up I might beat my best time!" Matt says as he looks at how long he's been doing this simulation while parrying a Darknut and shooting it with ice beam shots to freeze and shatter it.
Two simulated purge troopers began to attack Matt Sterling, one lunged at him with their electrostaff while the other one tried to land a hit on him with their blaster rifle alongside some stormtroopers, Ruffian Corp Troopers and a Space Pirate Troopers.
"Thought you can pull a fast one on me?" Matt says as he deflects the purge trooper's blaster bolts and fires a missile at the simulated Imperial Purge Trooper with the blaster and their small "firing squad" which obliterates them before countering the simulated Purge Trooper's electrostaff attack (like Samus does in Metroid Samus Returns and Metroid Dread) and defeating the simulated Purge Trooper with a charged shot.
A simulated Bob-omb started running towards Matt Sterling with its fuse ignited.
"Oh no you don't!" Matt Sterling shouted in reaction to the approaching simulated Bob-omb.
Luckily Matt was able to use the force to push the simulated Bob-omb into the group of enemies that remained.

"That was a close call!" Matt said to himself.
"Warning! Bosses incoming!" the computerized voice said alerting Matt Sterling of the bosses for this wave.
As the wave bosses finished manifesting they reveal themselves to be simulated versions of Luz Noceda, Amity Blight, the Mane Six, the Future Mane Six, the Elemental 10 and Tanjiro.
BERSERKER LORD THEME (METROID PRIME 3: CORRUPTION)
"I'm not holding back!" said the simulated Tanjiro with a determined look as the holographic simulation of the Demon Slayer readied his sword for combat before charging into battle.
"I can say the same for myself! I hope this holographic simulation really helps with my melee combat skills." Matt Sterling said as he ignited his lightsaber.
The simulated Tanjiro and Matt Sterling exchanged blow after blow as each made a crackling noise due to Matt Sterling's lightsaber. The simulated Tanjiro then kicks Matt sterling and even manages to land a few hits on him which sends him flying into one of the entrances to the ruins. Matt Sterling then lands near one of the structures of the ruins, and just as he was going to react, the simulated Tanjiro then charges up to Matt Sterling and corners him against a wall.
"Oh Shoot I gotta move!" Matt shouts.
As the simulated Tanjiro looked like he was about strike him with a horizontal slice, Matt Sterling goes into morph ball mode and drops a bomb damages the simulated Demon Slayer Corps member as Matt Sterling rolls out of the way and goes back to normal mode to use the force in order to grab his lightsaber. Matt Sterling then fires plasma beam shots to do some damage to the simulated Tanjiro which made the simulation start losing his balance, and to finish off the simulated Tanjiro Matt then does a vertical slice attack with his lightsaber.
"Think fast!" Matt shouts as he slices the simulated Tanjiro in half before the simulation explodes into small pixelated cubes and disintegrates.
Matt Sterling's Newtype senses and his Varia Suit's sensors pick up a large group of fireballs along with a purple energy beam heading towards him which causes him to quickly get out of harm's way. Then the simulated versions of the Mane Six, the Future Mane Six, Luz, Amity, and the Elemental 10 began approaching Matt Sterling.
"Damn, I wasn't expecting a swarm attack but oh well." Matt said with a small chuckle as the simulated team members began their attack.
The simulated version Applejack, Sunny Starscout, Misty Brightdawn, and Hitch Trailblazer charge at Matt Sterling blindly only for Matt to take them out via a super missile as they explode into small pixelated cubes and disintegrate.
"Well that was anticlimactic!" Matt Sterling says before getting tackled and grabbed by the simulated versions of Fluttershy and Skye Hope.
Matt Sterling then manages to activate his Varia Suit's thrusters and fire a charged ice beam shot at Fluttershy's wing to destabilize her and break free from her grasp. Just then the simulated version of Luz Noceda, Amity Blight, Rainbow Dash, Pipp Petals, Jupiter Ledger, Tetsu Kagami and the rest of the Simulated team members began to provide backup for Fluttershy and Skye.
"Let's see you handle all of us!" the Simulated Luz Noceda said before using a fire spell to knock down Matt Sterling.
"So that's how you want it to go down, well ok then." Matt Sterling replied with a scowl.
Matt Then fired two missiles that managed to shoot down the simulated Skye Hope and finish off simulated Fluttershy as she exploded into small pixelated cubes. Then the simulated Tetsu puts up his mirror shield as Matt Sterling was running towards him as he fires a charged plasma beam shot which reflects the blast right back at Matt Sterling, as the blast was coming closer to Matt Sterling, he used Phase Drift to slow down time and make the charged plasma beam shot hit the simulated versions of Jupiter Ledger, Aidan Adler, and Zipp Storm which sends them knocks them back and defeats Jupiter Ledger and Zipp Storm as they exploded into small pixelated cubes.
"No! We can't keep taking losses like this!" the simulated Aidan Adler said while picking himself up.
The simulated Amity Blight then uses her abomination magic to create these slimy creatures called abominations to help boost her and the simulated Luz's numbers as she sends them to attack Matt Sterling.
"This will keep you busy!" the simulated version of Amity Blight said.
"Jeez Clown Vomit you're really making things difficult for me here!" Matt Said as he fires his ice beam at the abominations to destroy them.
Just before the simulated versions of Luz Noceda and Amity Blight were about to unleash a combined fire attack on Matt Sterling, he fired a charged ice beam shot which froze both of them and then used a Super Missile to finish them and explode into small pixelated cubes.
The simulated versions of Twilight Sparkle Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, along with the simulated versions of the Elemental 10 came at Matt Sterling with some of their strongest attacks.
The Simulated version of Terran Huxley hit Matt Sterling while Alban Sharp was about to freeze Matt Sterling while he wasn't looking.
"That got him!" the simulated Alban said with a confined laugh.
But unfortunately for the simulated Alban that confidence was short lived as the ice was melting due fast to the heat from Matt Sterling's thermal plasma beam charging up a shot and the fact that his version of the Dread Varia Suit can survive extreme cold as well.
"Oh crud!" the simulated Alban said before Matt Sterling combos him with a few punches and a charged thermal plasma beam shot which knocks him into the rest of the simulated members of the Elemental 10.
Matt Sterling then fired Power Beam shots at the simulated versions of Rarity and Pinkie Pie which hit them with great accuracy. He then used the force to throw them into the simulated versions of the Elemental 10 just before the simulated versions of Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash attack along with the simulated versions of Aaron and Blake Pierce. Matt Sterling knocks the simulated Pierce twins back to the rest of their team with charged Dark beam and light beam shots. With the simulated Pierce twins out of the way Matt Sterling began to wrap this battle up, Matt Sterling then fired plasma beam shots at the simulated versions of Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle and sent them crashing into the simulated Elemental 10 via a charged plasma beam shot at point blank range.
"Time to wrap things up!" Matt Sterling said unleashing his Final Smash known as "Star Fox Team All Out Assault".
Matt Sterling gets in his arwing and begins his attack.
"Get some! GET SOME!" Matt Sterling shouts as he and the rest of the Star Fox team's arwing fire their lasers and smart bombs while Matt Sterling finishes things off with by jumping out of his arwing and firing his zero laser before getting back in his arwing. As the zero laser along with the laser shots and smart bombs hit the group of simulated team members, like the rest of the simulated foes they all explode into small pixelated cubes and what sounds like a futuristic air horn is heard signaling the end of the simulation.

"Combat simulation complete. New record time achieved!" The computerized voice announced the completion of the simulation and Matt's new record completion time as the room returned to normal.
"Whew, that battle really worked up a sweat! I have to admit those guys are getting strong and I feel like this data can help Fox and I make the rest of the Star Fox Team stronger! I think I could use a good shower right about now." Matt said as he deactivated his Varia Suit. As Matt Sterling pulls out his multiversal phone he notices he forgot to charge his phone before he went to bed as evident by the low battery.
"Damn, I forgot to charge my multiversal phone last night! Ah well I can charge it while I take my shower since it is no big deal." Matt Sterling said.
Matt Sterling eventually arrives at his quarters to take a shower in his bathroom, but unaware to him that Slippy Toad is watching him with a device in hand that is actually a tracking device that looks just like his phone case as Matt Sterling put his multiversal phone on his desk to charge. Just as Matt Sterling locks his bathroom door and the shower is heard, Slippy then makes his move and swaps the regular phone case with the replica with the tracking device in it.
"It's done now to report back to the others!" Slippy whispered as he made his way back to the rest of the Star Fox Team and the Super Smash Bros Team.
A few minutes later, Matt Sterling gets out of the shower and gets his clothes on as he dries off. As he finishes adjusting one of the socks on his paws, Matt Sterling's ears perk up as he hears a knock on his door.
"It's open." Matt Sterling said.
The door to Matt Sterling's quarters slides open to reveal Fox, Krystal, along with Samus Aran, Kate Silverfang, Humphrey Lupus, Lilly Silverfang, Garth Howler, Amuro Ray, Kamille Bidan, Fa Yuiry, Judau Ashta, Roux Louka, Susumu Kodai, and Yuki Mori in casual clothing.
"Hey Matt, we thought it would be nice to join us on a little day out if that's cool with you." Krystal said, offering him a nice outing.
"Sure I can use some more R since I just did a big training session with that combat data." Matt Sterling said with delight as his tail wags with enthusiasm.
Aether Kingdom: Coastal Village
The group is then seen walking down the streets of the coastal village, taking in all the sights as they continue to pass by all kinds of shops, homes, and restaurants.
"I'll be honest this place reminds me of the town where my vacation house I always go to every summer is located back on Earth and even when things are really peaceful." Matt Sterling says as he feels nostalgic for one of the places he always visits during his summer vacations.
A few hours later the group is relaxing in one of the local parks and they notice the village getting prepared for the Christmas season. As evident by workers putting up wreaths on street light poles along with all sorts of lights and festive decor.
"Man, they're working quickly. I guess they're that festive about the holidays." Kamille Bidan said as he admired some of the decorations that were being put up around the village.
"Looks like that one place near the docks got their prized decoration up!" Humphrey said as he pointed towards what appears to be a Christmas tree made from green crab traps and with lights all over it, and completed a big bright red light mounted on top.
"Well that's one creative way to make a Christmas tree" Judau Ashta said with a laugh.
"Yeah I have to admit that it is a creative concept. Yuki Mori said.
"Hey guys I just got a text from Mario. He said that he and Luigi managed to secure a good place for dinner tonight." Samus Aran announced as she looked at her multiversal phone.
"Oh that's nice of the bros to do something like that." Roux Louka commented.
"I mean they're some of the nicest people on the team who go all out with this stuff" Fox McCloud mentioned with a smile.
"Yeah it is, also I've heard that place has some real good food. I never really got around to try the place due to everything going on and all that but still." Amuro Ray said.
"Wait, isn't that the bar and grill restaurant that's been getting really popular recently? Because some of the guys from the 125th Legion did meet up with some of the Galactic Federation and Cornerian troops that are stationed here at the Aether Kingdom to host a little get together with the troops of the Aether Kingdom Armed Forces as a sign of friendship, and to add validation to Amuro's claim about the food,they said the food was really good at that place." Garth Howler said.
"Well then let's not keep Mario and Luigi waiting guys, let's go!" Fox McCloud said.
As the group walks over to meet Mario and Luigi along with some of the other heroes Matt pops a small question.
"Hey Fox, how did Mario and Luigi manage to secure a big reservation for this place since things start to get busy around this time?" Matt Sterling asked.
"Well uh-" Fox McCloud tried to say but was eventually cut off by Judau
"Well it was a slow day for the restaurant and there were a lot of openings for reservations." Judau Ashta said with a small chuckle while hiding the real reason.
Unbeknownst to the group some of the other heroes are spying on Matt Sterling and Fox McCloud's group in a white utility van that has been modified into a makeshift surveillance vehicle.
"Alright, they're heading towards the restaurant now." Luke said as he looked at a GPS where the tracking device that was disguised as Matt's phone case blipped showing the group and his location.
"Ok then, Luca I need you to keep tracking them from the sky and report the group's every move. We're moving into drop off Caleb and Aria at the restaurant. "Jupiter Ledger said via a radio communications device.
"Got it! I'll continue to keep a close eye on them from up here." Luca Angeloni said as he banked his RVF-25 Messiah left to keep track of the group's position.
A few minutes later, Caleb, Aria, Mario and Luigi along with some of the other heroes meet Matt S and Fox's group at the restaurant. As they take their seats and order their food, the group shares stories from their past adventures and converse about all sorts of topics. Matt Sterling even shared the story about how he first met his mentor Samus Aran and the Star Fox team, and how they all defeated the Equestrians from Matt, Samus, Amuro, and the Star Fox Team's world.
"So that's why Matt was a little hostile and strict when he first saw the Mane six and the other ponies. Since it brought back some bad memories about the versions that worked with a Space Pirate remnant faction." Aria said as she now understands why Matt Sterling was really strict with those ponies.
"The versions of the Equestrians you guys fought in the past sound really vile! I'd hate to imagine if the Brotherhood of Evil finds a way to bring them back." Caleb said with a concerned tone.
"Don't worry Caleb and Aria, since the top brass from the Galactic Federation and Corneria filled me in about everything that went down and I am confident that the versions of those ponies on the team won't make the same mistakes as their counterparts and won't go down the path of evil as they will be better than them in every way possible. Also I'll let you two in on a little secret, despite my dislike of those ponies I consider them valuable members of the team." Matt Sterling said.
"Say, that mission where you guys raided your version of Equestria and destroyed it sounded just like your second mission to Zebes Samus." Aries said as that mission reminded him of the events of Super Metroid.
"Well history has its fun little ways of repeating itself" Samus Aran says with a wink.
"Hey Fox and Krystal, how did you guys and your partners secure your wins against some of the ponies during the Tag Team Tournament?" Leo said
"Well I just remembered one of those "Know Your Enemy" analysis videos on the Equestrians the Galactic Federation and the Cornerian army made. These things are really educational but I have to warn you guys these are really brutal and aren't afraid to sugarcoat some of the stuff." Fox said as he pulled out his multiversal phone to play one of the videos.
"It's this part right here!" Fox said as he used his finger to slide the progress bar to the exact point of the video where it shows a Galactic Federation facility under attack.
"Your basic Equestrian warrior may seem not all that smart but if you blow off a limb" the Galactic Federation human combat scientist says before firing an fully automatic blaster rifle at the Equestrian soldier that is about to attack him and blasts the Equestrian soldier's left arm off.
"And it's still 86% combat effective. Here's a tip, aim for the head, neck, or flanks and put it down for good!" the Galactic Federation human combat scientist said before finishing off the Equestrian soldier before it pulled out its sidearm to try to kill the human combat scientist.
"Holy smokes you weren't lying that was brutal! Thank goodness Caeli is not here to see this since she's helping mom make some cookies" Caleb said
"That Equestrian soldier smoked yo!" Scorpio said.
"That looks similar to the "Would You Like To Know More?" scene from Starship Troopers" Yakko said.
"Speaking of Starship Troopers, Matt I saw you had the Morita Rifle and its carbine variant in your arsenal, did you and the Star Fox Team fight some Arachnids?" Aries said.
"Oh we sure did! Some of them tried to colonize Katina but we eradicated them before they could cause massive damage!" Matt Sterling said.
"Those guys were no Aparoids but they were just as deadly and persistent but they were no real problem since we dealt with evil space bugs before, I felt like the team was a group of glorified exterminators when that small scuffle happened" Fox McCloud said with a small chuckle.
"I remember hearing this one rumor from Ozma Lee, Max Jenius, Isamu Dyson, and Hikaru Ichijo that some believe that these bugs are a bio-engineered race made to be the army of a another alien race similar to the Zentradi" Amuro Ray said as he mentions a rumor that he heard.
"Do you think we would win against a massive invasion of the Arachnids?" Sara said with a fearful look.
"Oh you bet we will, I mean after everything we've been through we'll crush those bugs if they ever rear their ugly heads here!" Mario said which reassured Sara's fears.
"You're right Mario, and with our combined firepower we'll give them a good whooping that is so hard, they'll never know what hit them!" Susumu Kodai said .
"That's the chief tactical officer of the Space Battleship Yamato for ya, he knows his stuff!" Humphrey Lupus said which made the entire table erupt with laughter.
As the group continued with dinner Caleb's multiversal phone was buzzing which signaled an incoming call which is revealed to be from Aidan.
"Excuse me everyone I got to take this." Caleb said before stepping outside the restaurant to answer the phone call.
"Caleb here, is everything almost ready?" Caleb said as he answered the phone call.
"Yep everything is all set for tomorrow and we are doing a few checks to make sure everything is in place!" Aidan reports.
"Good, since we're almost done with dinner and we'll be heading out shortly. I'll see you tomorrow." Caleb said.
"Ok goodbye for now." Aidan says before hanging up.
Looks like everything is set for Matt Sterling's birthday party. Will our heroes give Matt one of the best unforgettable birthdays he has ever had? Will the Brotherhood of Evil be successful in crashing the party with their surprise attack? Time will eventually tell.
