Author's note: First, I want to apologize this came a full month later than I promised in the last chapter. If you've been paying attention to the news lately you would probably be aware of major flooding in the American Midwest, which is where I live. My family and I literally had to flee our house in a boat. Luckily, we only lost the basement and I was able to save a lot of my stuff but because of all the work of stripping the basement down to studs I hope you'll all understand that writing this story wasn't exactly at the forefront of my mind. Second, I'm really excited to release this chapter because we learn some more back story of the descendants that came to the tournament and how they deal with the Oozaru transformation. Please enjoy!

Chapter 13: Finals Part 3, Ranma Under the Full Moon

Touya Hibiki was still wandering around the city trying to find the airport. He had traveled all over and had souvenirs from just about every gift shop in town. He looked quite the strange sight, a middle aged man in a white Gi and a tiger patterned headband with his back burdened with all manner of tacky gifts and gimmicky snacks. His eyes were heavy, and he was hunched over as he walked under his heavy burden. He walked by a sign that said "Airport" with an arrow pointing left,…he turned right.

After a few more minutes of walking, his frustration brought him to a halt. He placed his bag on the ground and looked into the sky and saw that the full moon had come out early in the evening. He admired it's red beauty as it reflected the twilight of the evening sun. He then gave a sigh and shouted to the moon,

"Why can I never get where I'm going?!"

A soft voice answered him, "Oh, you're still here Hibiki?"

"Moon?" he said stupidly, staring wide-eyed at the moon.

"Ai-yah, over here stupid!"

He turned around and saw Aloe the Amazon. She was a young Chinese girl of about 20 or so with lavender colored hair tied into twin ponytails and wearing a lilac wushu dress.

"Oh, hello Aloe" Touya said sheepishly. "What are you doing in the middle of the city?"

"Middle of the-? Are you soft in the head?" she said eyebrow raised. "You're back at the tournament temple!"

Touya looked around and sure enough, not only had he wondered back to the temple, he was inside the meeting hall for the finalists, which is why no one stopped him from entering. He had been gazing at moon from a window. "Oh no!" he cried in despair and exhaustion. He collapsed to his knees and let the over encumbered bag on his back fall to the ground. "Two days of journeying and I'm back where I started! My family's curse is such a burden!"

Aloe seemed disinterested in his wailing and began rifling through the pile of souvenirs without permission. A moment later she had opened a box of cookies and was contentedly munching while sipping green tea on a couch in the center of the room. Touya didn't seem to mind her pilfering his snacks and sat across from her. He pulled out more souvenir snacks and candies and they were starting a little picnic when a voice like honey asked,

"Mind if I join you?"

Touya looked up and saw what he had to admit, was the most handsome man he had ever seen. He was about a head taller than Touya and had long dark hair reaching his waist. His eyes were deep green, and his skin was bronze and flawless. He was wearing a black kung fu jacket which was open exposing his chest and long black pants. Aloe looked up with her cheeks bulging like a squirrel. When she saw him she suddenly blushed and started choking on her cookie and reached for the tea and chugged like her life depended on it.

"Sorry" the man said nervously. "I tend to have that effect on people in my natural state."

"You're natural?...Wait, Momo-taro?!" Touya exclaimed.

Aloe spit out a geyser of tea and cookie crumbs onto Touya's face. "Mo- *cough cough* Mo- Momo-taro? You?" she spluttered.

Momo merely sighed as though he expected their reactions. People were often disturbed when they learned that the handsome lad and the horrifying beast were the same person.

"Yes, I am Momo-taro. The men in my family have shared in the curse of the Chimera for over twelve generations."

Both Touya and Aloe were startled from this revelation. Of course they both knew about the curse of Jusenkyo springs as both of their ancestors had been victims of it. But usually the Jusenkyo curse is unique to the individual based on which spring they fell into, and the curse is not inherited, a generational Jusenkyo curse was unheard of. Aloe was the first to ask.

"Twelve generations, you say? How is that possible?"

Momo took a bite of a cookie and sipped some tea before answering. He wiped his mouth and Aloe's eyes watched his lips and she moaned ever so slightly that it couldn't quite be heard.

"To answer your question, my ancestor, the first to bear the chimera curse was the one who started the tradition of bathing the eldest male of the family in the very spring that cursed him at birth. He did this because he was a cruel man that relied on the strength his curse gave him, and he wanted his children to use that strength to consolidate more power."

He stopped and took another sip of tea and spilled a bit on his exposed chest. Touya discreetly wiped a bit of drool from Aloe's lip with a napkin.

"Anyway" he continued, "His descendants weren't as cruel as he was and didn't seek power or wealth, but rather they used their monster strength to help rebuild the world. This was due to some great disaster that happened centuries ago, but no one alive now knows what that was."

"That explains why twelve generations of the same family can have a non-generational curse." Touya said as he reached for a cookie and found the box was empty. He looked to the pile of boxes and his jaw dropped as they were all empty. "How!?-"

Aloe discreetly brushed some crumbs off her clothes and spoke to Momo as if nothing happened.

"My great great grandmother lived through that disaster but does not speak of it and becomes angry whenever I or my family brings it up. Although sometimes when she is sleeping I can hear her toss and turn and scream in the night about…demons."

They sat in silence for a moment when suddenly a mighty roar was heard outside, and a part of the temple ceiling collapsed. They leapt to their feet as instinct took over and dodged the falling debris. Momo looked up at the hole in the ceiling and his eyes grew wide with shock.

"A monster!"

*A few minutes earlier*

In the ring, Ranko had brought her hands together and said, "Try not to die!"

Goku observed her with curiosity but didn't break his stance, determined not to be caught off guard. The audience was also silent, staring at her in wonder and trepidation from her declaration of victory and warning to Goku. Suddenly, Ranko's hands began to glow with an eerie green light and a smell of O-zone permeated the arena. She then thrust out her hands, fingers spread out towards Goku as if she was signaling him to stop, her face was tense as if she was exerting a great effort and was dripping with sweat. Her hands were not only glowing, but now sparks were dancing along her fingers and making crackling noises.

"Lightning Flash, Surprise Attack!" she called out suddenly, and an arc of electricity erupted from her hands and struck Goku.

It was so fast Goku couldn't hope to dodge, he was enveloped in a green light and every inch of his body was screaming in pain. It hurt so badly he couldn't even hear himself screaming at first, but then his stubbornness kicked in and he suppressed his screams, although he could not diminish the pain.

"She's going to kill him!" Bulma cried out in horror. Oolong and Puar said nothing but stared in shock and horror. Some other members of the audience also couldn't seem to stomach it and were calling for it to stop.

"What's happening, Yamcha? What's she doing to him?" Krillin asked on the sidelines.

Yamcha did not take his eyes off of Goku as he answered, "I've heard of this technique, it's advanced Ki manipulation that changes all the energy in the body into 20,000 volts of electricity!"

Krillin did not answer but turned pale and continued to watch as the arc of electricity lifted Goku off the ground, trapped in a net of pain.

"Wh-what a fight!" the MC shouted into the mike. "Miss Akane's attack has completely immobilized young Goku! And he looks like he's in a lot of pain!"

"Say you give up!" Ranko shouted to Goku. "You'll die if you don't say it quick!"

Goku grunted through the pain and answered, "N-no! I'm not d-done fighting!" he then stuck out his tongue and gave a feeble raspberry.

Ranko scowled in a mixture of anger and panic. "Damn it! This is no time to be stubborn when your life is at stake." She gave a grunt of exertion, and the arc of lightning grew stronger and Goku screamed out in pain again. "Please! Don't be a fool! Just give up!"

Goku's arms and legs curled into his chest as he tried to hold back the agony and persevere. After a few long and agonizing moments that were only a couple of seconds but felt like hours, voices called from the audience.

"Thow in the towel kid, it's not worth it!" shouted Oolong.

"Just give up!" Bulma yelled.

"Give up kid, give up!" Yamcha shouted.

"You did just fine!" Krillin called.

The rest of the audience was now joining in, begging him to concede the fight. Goku tried to ignore them, but the pain was finally overcoming him, and he knew he couldn't stand it much longer. "F-fine, I'll s-say it!"

Ranko's scowl seemed to relax. "Yes! Don't be ashamed Goku! Not even Gohan lasted this long!" "Thank God! she thought, any longer and we would have done permanent damage to his organs…or worse."

Goku opened his eyes and looked up to the sky. He could not bear to look at his opponent as he said the words. "I give.." He could not finish the words; his eyes had seen the full moon and it's beauty drove all other thoughts from his mind. Suddenly, he couldn't hear his friends shouting to him or smell his own flesh burning from the electricity. He could only hear his heart beat, *THUMP THUMP* *THUMP THUMP*. As his heartbeat grew louder, his vision grew red and passed out.

Goku's body suddenly doubled in size, causing his clothes to tear to shreds. His front teeth grew into long fangs and hair started to grow all over his body.

"What on earth?!" Ranko shouted in shock.

The rest of the audience went dead silent in wonder and horror as the transformation continued. He continued to grow in size, the hair thickened into black fur, his face elongated resembling a baboon and his teeth grew into scimitars to match the new large maw. After just a few seconds he had grown to the size of a large shed and showed no signs of stopping.

"Oh no! It's happening again!" Bulma shouted from the audience.

From the sidelines Yamcha looked at the sky in panic. "It's the full moon! Not now!"

"What on earth is Goku doing?!" Roshi said.

Remembering her talk with Momo in the infirmary, Ranko answered, "I think now we know why his friends were so terrified when his tail grew back."

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I have no idea what's going on!" the MC babbled into the microphone. "Young Goku has somehow transformed himself into a terrifying monster! I've never heard of this technique!"

"It's not a technique pal!" Oolong stammered.

"It's the worst thing that could possibly happen!" said Bulma.

"And it's scary!" Puar added while covering her eyes with her paws.

"It doesn't matter!" Roshi said. "He's under my Lightning Flash Surprise. Even if he grows larger it's only a matter of time before he submits!"

"Who are you trying to convince? Me or yourself!" Ranko snapped.

Goku was now three stories tall and as if on cue, the beast gave a roar and lurched, breaking free of the net of electricity that had kept Goku immobilized. Yamcha and Krillin dove out of the way as Goku's colossal form crashed onto the roof of the temple. The beast promptly drove one of his giant fists through the roof, creating the hole over which Touya, Aloe, and Momo were having their little picnic. The three warriors ran from the building as fast as they could and joined Yamcha and Krillin on the other side of the arena. The beast took no notice of them as it was more concerned with destroying the temple. Spectators ran screaming in every direction with the exception of Bulma and co.

"What on earth is that!?" Touya shouted.

"Is that…Goku?" Momo muttered.

"Oh my!" the MC cried into the mike. "Goku has transformed himself into a terrifying beast and is destroying everything! I'd run away as well, but I must continue the commentary! How horrid!"

"You think you have it bad? If I leave the ring, I'm disqualified!" Ranko snapped as she dodged debris.

"Goku! Cut it out already! Don't you think you're taking this fight a little too far?!" Krillin shouted.

The beast seemed to hear him and turned towards the voice. Spotting the group of warriors, the beast smashed another piece of the temple in their direction, forcing them to leap out of the way.

"Don't bother trying to reason with him!" Yamcha shouted as they dived for cover. "When Goku gets like this he loses all sense of himself! He's just a beast with a sweet tooth for tearing peoples limbs off!"

"In that case, there's only one thing for it…" Roshi said to Ranko. "Kamehameha, at maximum power! Ranko, switch with me now!

"Absolutely not!" Ranko said furiously. "There has to be another way!"

As she argued with Roshi, the beast continued to destroy the temple and the three warriors he had summoned took action. Momo had splashed water on himself and transformed back into the winged chimera and along with Touya and Aloe, seemed to be trying to distract the beast. Aloe produced a Dyno Cap, she flicked the switch and in a puff of smoke, a spear was in her hand. She leapt at the beast and thrust with all her strength. The spear tip shattered, and the pole snapped in half, the beast didn't even seem to feel it, although it must have caught some movement in the corner of it's eyes as it swung in retaliation. She was saved from being turned into paste on the arena floor by Momo who swooped down and lifted her away. Touya used the "Breaking Point" on the ground creating a crater which caused the beast to sink a few feet in the ground. The monster staggered only slightly and whipped it's tail at Touya who was sent flying through the air at 50mph and through a brick wall, he stopped moving.

"They're going to get killed!" Krillin said in dismay. "Yamcha, you've seen this before, is there any way to stop him?"

"I only know of one." Yamcha answered. "We have to cut off his tail! Puar! I'm going to try and sneak up on him and grab his tail, which will immobilize him, then you transform into a giant pair of scissors and cut his tail off just like last time!"

"R-right!" said Puar trying to sound brave.

Not too far away, Ranko was listening. "It sounds like the kids have a plan." Roshi mused.

"Cutting off his tail?" Ranko said. "That's a band-aid at best, his tail grew back remember?"

"Maybe, but we don't have time to think of a more lasting solution!"

"Can't you feel it? His chi is going crazy! If we could just hold him still a bit…"

"Perhaps we can, but you'll have to switch with me. Don't worry, I won't use the Kamehameha Wave. This will be another partial transformation like the one I've done with you, except in the opposite direction. My body, your youth."

Ranko considered this for a moment. "In that case…" She then clasped her hands, and the flash of green light returned. She thrust both hands at the ground and arcs of electricity shot out and traveling across the ground, shocked Yamcha, Krillin, the MC, Bulma and co., Momo, and Aloe, as well as remaining members of the audience, knocking all of them unconscious. "Best not have any witnesses" she said.

Ranko then removed the incense from her jacket and lit it with a spark of electricity. She inhaled the smoke, and the transformation quickly took effect. She started to grow taller and broader, her muscles grew thicker and her skin tighter. Her crimson red hair turned jet black and before long, standing there was a young man of about 18 who some 300 years ago was known to cause and solve all sorts of mischief at the Tendo Dojo.

"All right! I haven't felt like this in ages! I'm Ranma again!" the lad shouted.

"Just because you changed your name, doesn't mean you stopped being Ranma." Ranko said cooly.

Ranma ignored her and did some stretches. Then suddenly, he dashed like lightning towards the beast and circled it. The beasts eyes caught his movement and tried to stomp him flat, but every time the beast thought it flattened him, his foot just phased through it. Ranma was using the after image to fool it, but that wouldn't work long. The beast slammed his fist at a spot to the left.

"Whoops!" said Ranma almost playfully as he dodged. "Caught on, did ya? Doesn't matter, I completed it. Have a taste a full power Hiryu Shoten Ha!"

Ranma threw a violent uppercut into the air and what followed was a massive whirlwind that lifted the beast high into the air, spinning wildly. The beast came down hard on the arena, stunned and disoriented.

"Well, that will do for now." Ranma said as he casually approached the beast with his arms behind his back. "Now let's see, it was the tail that was the key to the transformation, yes?"

Goku's tail was now as thick as a tree and just as long. Ranma casually wrapped one arm around it and squeezed. The beast gave a roar of pain, but the energy it had seemed to drain from it and laid still. Taking advantage of this, Ranma closed his eyes and tried to feel the chi flowing in the monster's body. He concentrated on finding the source of the transformation within the tail, hoping that if he found it, he could somehow stop the transformations from occurring in the future. After a few moments, his patience paid off.

"Ah, so that's it." he said opening his eyes. "You felt that, right?"

"Yes" Ranko answered, "It seems that in addition to providing equilibrium, that tail is also a sensory organ to absorb moonlight. Seeing the full moon must act as a trigger, causing the tail to begin absorbing the moons power. There seems to be a special gland within the tail that governs the distribution of the moons power, without that gland, tail or no tail, the transformation can't take place."

"Correct on all counts!" Ranma said. "And I think I've thought of a solution, though it might sting a bit."

While still holding on to Goku's tail with one arm, he enveloped his other arm in electricity again and concentrated the charge. Ranma's hand was now glowing bright in the gathering night, and it grew brighter and brighter as the light was concentrated in just two fingers. He then released the tail and leapt in the air. Before the beast could shake off it's dizziness, Ranma landed on it's tail and with his glowing hand, pierced a point of the beast's tail towards the tip. The beast gave a deafening howl of rage and pain as the electricity lit up it's tail like an X-ray. After a moment, Ranma leapt off and landed a few feat away and calmly observed. The beast groaned as it slowly began to shrink. It's thick black fur became more sparce as Goku shrank back, his voice was also sounding more human. Within the span of a minute, Goku was back to normal lying face down, stark naked.

"Well, that was dramatic." Ranko said. "You used the Lightning Flash as sword to pierce the gland in his tail, right? Aren't you afraid it will just regenerate?"

"Not in the least bit." Ranma answered calmly. "I used enough electricity that I didn't just pierce the gland, I fried it. Cauterized cells won't regenerate, so I think it should be fine."

Around him, Goku's friends and everyone who was shocked earlier seemed to be coming around and shaking their heads.

"We should change back, my love." Ranko said urgently.

"I suppose so, but it was nice being a young man again." Ranma said as he pulled the incense and lit it with a spark. "Try not to go awol this time, Miss Phantom." he added sternly.

Ranko seemed to flinch within his mind but recovered quickly. "Just a bit of fun, my love. You have my word." Ranma hmphed but inhaled the fumes anyway. The change was instantaneous, and an older Ranko was standing there again as the other's were getting to their feet.

The MC was first to recover his voice. "Oh my…ladies and gentlemen, I'm not too sure what happened! The young Goku had turned into a giant monster and began destroying everything, but now it seems he's back to normal and…both fighters are still in the ring! Miss Akane, please explain this!"

"Oh, don't you worry about it. Goku just seemed to have a little episode, but it's fine now."

"A little episode!?" the MC stammered.

"Yes, that's what I said. Now hurry up and count!" Ranko snapped.

Bulma breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness he's back to normal."

"But how? Both the moon and his tail are still present." said Yamcha.

"Ever heard of not looking a gift horse in the mouth?" Oolong snapped.

Meanwhile, Goku stirred and sat up. "Huh? That's weird, I thought for sure I was wearing clothes."

"Damn it! If you had counted when you were supposed too I would have won!" Ranko shouted at the still puzzled MC.

The crowd seemed to get over their curiosity and began cheering for the fight to go on. Picking up on the crowd, the MC put the mic to his lips and shouted, "Continue!"
