A/N: I thought about moving this story from journal format to 1st person, however I am struggling to write the canon characters in a believable manner. I just am not sure how to capture the essence of Tywin or other characters adequately, so essentially you will just see them through journal entries by Harry or by letters that he intercepts between different Lords. Additionally, I apologize for the chapters to be italics. I think they look more like how a person would write.
Also, please be aware that Harry IS a wizard with ALL of his powers and then some. While I am not going to overuse his powers to blast through the Seven Kingdoms, he can influence people fairly easily. If you see a character who probably wouldn't agree with him agreeing, it is likely that he is using magic to influence them. If you like it, please review. If not, thanks for trying it out. I'm not a professional writer. To be honest, I'm really mediocre at best, but I enjoy it. I can take constructive criticism, but if you are just going to say it's bad, then go ahead and not comment.
Chapter 2: "Armies Give You Power"
Lord Harry Peverell, Lord of Harrenhal
Year 3: Day 47
I received another letter from Lord Frey demanding that I wed my two-year-old son to one of his daughters. Walder Frey, a man whose only power comes from his damned bridge? Maybe, when I am Lord of the Trident, I will build another bridge and place a house solely loyal to me as stewards… But alas, once again I cast his letter into the fire. I have greater plans for my children. Lord Frey can only raise a tenth of my banners, some 4,000 men. I need greater allies…
Harrenhal itself is prospering and is flooded with more people by the month. I have heard that Harrenhal is now the fourth largest city in Westeros, behind King's Landing, Lannisport, and Oldtown. A boon for my house and power. The banners I now command are twice the size of House Tully, without their vassals. Weak. They are only the Lords of the Riverlands due to their loyalty to the Targaryens and the King himself…
I have appointed House Longbottom as House Peverell's steward for now. Surprising me is just how big Harrenhal's lands are. They extend from the Trident in the North to the Blackwater Rush in the South and from the Kingsroad in the East to about two-thirds to High Heart in the West. Probably the largest area controlled by a single family in all of Westeros. This gets you a massive administrative nightmare. Luckily, since the populous can generally get along without having to be told what to do, the burden is a little less. Neville and Susan had been indispensable with this nightmare and have really lessened the load on Astoria and me.
However, protecting the populous is a different matter altogether. Bandits consistently attack south of the God's Eye and thus, there are large troop contingents there all the time. It seems once you rout out one bandit group, another takes its place. I have had to increase my standing men-at-arms to 15,000 just to cover all of my lands with quality patrols. Additionally, I have instituted mandatory conscription of our population in Harrenhal for 2 years at the age of 18. This will allow us to create a large, trained army. 70% of our men-at-arms come from this force while the other 30% are contract soldiers that do it as their chosen job. I do not conscript men outside of Harrenhal due to the need for farmhands, however they are trained in the basics. Normally, this would bankrupt a House, but due to the increase in trade and population boom we are experiencing, we come out about even. However, with the help of the philosopher's stone, we are able to continue with the other projects we are doing.
Some villages have also begun creating their own guard, sort of like the 'Minutemen' from the American Revolution in my old world. I am unsure how I feel about this. While I am glad that villages are creating forces that I can then use as levies if needed, I do not like the idea of a petty mayor of some village believing he has power. I might have to send my men-at-arms into some of those villages and ensure they realize who is their Lord.
Astoria, bless her kind heart, has built a school for the children of Harrenhal and a soup kitchen for those who cannot feed themselves. I have encouraged her in this. Actions like this create a love for one's rulers, allowing us larger sway over our populous. She has received the nickname, "Lady Astoria the Kind" from the townspeople and I agree. I do not deserve such a woman.
My son, James Cygnus Peverell, was born two years ago and is extremely cute, according to Neville and Susan. Named after my father and Astoria's father… Her father's name is very much foreign in this land, so I tend to not tell people it. Astoria is also pregnant with our second baby, a girl if the spells are correct, "Lily Daphne Peverell", named for my mother and Astoria's lost sister. I have been fielding invitations from most of the Riverlords to discuss a potential betrothal between my son and their daughters. I have higher plans form him. I heard that Lord Stark welcomed a baby girl not too long ago, Arya I believe, or maybe Princess Myrcella Baratheon. The Princess would not be attainable just yet, however when House Peverell controls the Riverlands… Astoria still says they are too young away to discuss such things, but I can think about them…
Year 3: Day 89
Susan came to me with a plan to seize the Riverlands for ourselves several weeks ago. I am so incredibly grateful to her and Neville for being such loyal friends. It is easy when you grew up together and are the only Wizards in Westeros.
Anyway, Susan and I have spoken at great length about when the right time to act to seize the Riverlands would be. We have come to the conclusion that now is a good time. Hoster Tully, the current Lord Paramount of the Trident and Riverlands, is sick. Not sick like he always is due to his age, but sick and due to pass away soon according to Susan. Now she is not a doctor, but I trust her judgment. Edmure, his son, is weak and ineffective. More concerned with having fun than learning how to govern the Riverlands. Only a teenager, he is not ready to be Lord. He would likely rely on his uncle, the Blackfish, to run the Riverlands until he comes of age. But, if the Blackfish were to, say get killed, then that would leave Edmure without proper council…
We have all the pieces in place now, after weeks of preparation. Ser Brynden Tully, the Blackfish and younger brother of Lord Hoster Tully, was fishing and hunting outside the walls of Riverrun. He was overconfident, never bringing more than five house guards. It was easy to gather forty bandits to attack and kill him, then all we, House Peverell I mean, needed to do was kill the bandits to 'avenge' our Lord's brother and no culpability. Susan had seen to all of this. Her force of a hundred men had miraculously been not too far from the spot when they heard the clash of steel. It was terrible, but nothing could be done to save the Blackfish. He died in the mud of the Trident, like he fish he was.
Two days later, Lord Hoster Tully passed away. His heart just gave out sadly. No one would ever know that Susan had killed him using the Killing Curse. Edmure Tully, a teenager, was named Lord Paramount of the Trident and will soon travel to King's Landing to swear fealty to King Robert. This is where the real fun begins.
Year 3: Day 103
Our plan involved two other houses: House Blackwood and House Frey. House Blackwood because I bribed their lord with an offer to seize Stone Hedge from House Bracken for them and House Frey due to me using the imperious curse on Walder Frey. Fuck that guy. I did leave him mostly in control of his dominion though and continue to be an arsehole. Just controlled him enough to back my coup and not oppose me in the future.
Nonetheless, it took two weeks from Hoster's death for Edmure to finally leave the city towards King's Landing. He had sent ravens to all the Lords of the Realm informing them of his father's passing and his change in station. All his vassals would be required to come to Riverrun after his return to pledge loyalty. It was a self-glorifying waste of paper, but that was Edmure's style. Thus, he would spend the next month traveling on the River Road and then the Kingsroad to King's Landing.
While the new Tully Lord was gone, House Blackwood of Raventree Hall called their banners and marched with their host to Riverrun to besiege it while House Frey blocked any Northern or Eastern army from relieving Riverrun by way of the Twins. I also quietly began gathering my own host, it wouldn't do to not have my forces exactly where I needed them at the right time.
Neville took 7,500 of my men-at-arms and marched to Riverrun to meet with Lord Blackwood while Edmure was slowly making his way to King's Landing. I received the following letter from Neville today:
'My Lord, I have secured Riverrun for House Peverell. House Blackwood has acted admirably and upheld our deal. They will march to the Twins to ensure House Frey's continuing co-operation. Your Steward, Neville Longbottom.'
I am waiting for Lord Edmure to arrive on the Kingsroad. We have made camp just off the side of the road, waiting for the trout to enter into my net. Edmure should only bring a small group of men with him, mostly just Tully guards from Riverrun. I have brought a formidable force of 500 cavalry, 300 footmen, and 200 archers. It wouldn't do to be ill prepared.
I also intercepted a raven to Lord Tully himself today as well:
'Lord Edmure Tully, Riverrun has been sacked. House Blackwood and House Peverell arrived in the night. They stormed the gatehouse and plundered the city. I write this hidden in the catacombs. I will try to get this to you via raven. Your loyal Maester, Vyman.' It appears that Maesters are not as unbiased as they make themselves out to be. I was correct in my decision to imperious our Maester at Harrenhal.
I have also thought of every course of action the North or the Vale could take, due to the wives of their Lord's being Tullys. It will take the North weeks to muster a force, then they must march all the way to the Ruby Ford because the Frey's control the only other crossing of the Green Fork. Lysa will wait until Jon Arryn orders his banners if he even does. If he does, they will wait to cross the Green Fork at the same time with the Northern force, where the Riverland army will be waiting for them. The Knights of the Vale will be ineffective in the water, and I will have the benefit of waiting for them…
However, if only one force musters, then the situation is the same. They must cross at the Ruby Ford. Where the banners of Harrenhal will be waiting for them, along with a witch, Susan. She has already taken a force of 5,000 men-at-arms as well as 15,000 of my banners and is currently entrenching herself there. If nothing happens, then they will march home.
Year 3: Day 105
Lord Tully finally arrived and what a scared little shit he was. He was full of bluster when he arrived. Demanding to know why I was there with such a potent force. I told him I was on my way to swear fealty to King Robert as Lord Paramount of the Trident. Oh my was that young Lord angry. He told me, "It is mine as Lord of Riverrun! My father was Lord Paramount, and it passes to me!" I told him that according to the letter I received from Neville, that he was no longer Lord of anything. If he could get angrier, he did. Saying that I was betraying my oaths and honor. I gave him no oaths and I really don't care about honor. My power came from my armies, not my titles.
He eventually went without a fight, his thirty guards choosing their lives over their Lord. It's terrible that they all needed to be put to the sword though. I couldn't have it get out that I intercepted Lord Tully and took him prisoner. They were just lost to bandits on the road to King's Landing I guess, and Lord Tully was placed under the Draught of Living Death, which was brewed by Astoria. I'll just chuck him in the dungeons and let him die there. Useless shit.
We are now marching back to Harrenhal. I have some things to attend to there as Lord of the Trident.
Year 3: Day 109
When I arrived in Harrenhal, there was no celebration of victory. It was a normal day. No one knew their Lord was now in charge of the entire Riverlands. Perhaps a feast later, but first I needed to check my ravens to see if I missed anything. I was not surprised to find one from Neville.
Harry, we have captured the last of the holdouts within the castle. They fought valiantly but in vain. I have also requested a new maester from the Citadel since the previous one was accidentally… stabbed… three times. I have received several ravens from Lords within the Riverlands asking if House Tully needs help. House Mooton, House Mallister, and House Darry. I have not heard from any other houses. I have responded to those and told them House Tully is no longer Lords Paramount of the Trident and to swear fealty to House Peverell of Harrenhal. It seems that word has gotten out that we have seized Riverrun. I suspect we will receive more ravens in the coming days. House Blackwood has taken their forces and marched to the Twins to cover our rear. A contingent of troops from House Ryger arrived with 600 men at arms and 100 knights. The man in command stated that their bannerman, House Perryn is sending 200 soldiers as well. A weak force, but if I need to move our forces elsewhere, they can hold the castle.
I have sent ravens to all the nearby forces that the Tully's usually command as their own force. I believe I can raise 10,000 from Riverrun. I will keep 5,000 here as my vanguard and send the rest to you. I would suggest you leave your host near Harrenhal. If Maidenpool or others rise up against us, we may need those forces there. I leave it to your judgment.
Your Steward, Neville
It is not good that word has gotten out about our coup. I suspect I will receive angry letters from House Arryn and Stark soon if I am honest. Perhaps Arya is off the table for my son. No matter… I will need to send out letters to the Houses of the Riverlands informing them of the change in their Lord.
In addition to Neville's letter, I found a letter from House Ryger:
'Lord Harry Peverell, Lord Paramount of the Trident – I will travel to Harrenhal post haste to swear loyalty. House Tully got what it deserved. Thus, always to Traitors. Our forces will assist in securing Riverrun for whomever you name as Lord.
Lord Ryger'
It was funny that Lord Ryger was obviously still upset at the Tully's for betraying the Targaryens. It's doubly funny since they are now betraying the own lord, but that's how it goes. I sent a quick thank you to Lord Ryger for his support and moved on.
Year 3: Day 112
I sent the following letter to all the Lords of the Riverlands three days ago after my last entry:
'My Lord, it is with great sadness that I write to you. With the death of our Lord Hoster Tully, Lord Edmure Tully went to King's Landing to swear fealty to the King. However, it is my understanding that he never arrived. I have had my forces scour the Kingsroad for any sign of him, but I have yet to find them. Until he is found, I have decided to garrison Riverrun with my forces and administer the Riverlands myself as Lord Paramount. Please present yourself to Harrenhal post haste to swear fealty. – Lord Paramount Harry Peverell, Lord of Harrenhal and the Trident'
House Vance of Wayfarer's Rest and Atranta, House Blackwood, House Piper, House Ryger, House Darry, and House Frey all replied with a raven informing me that they will make their way to Harrenhal to swear fealty. That only left Houses Bracken, Mallister, and Mooton plus any of their vassals. If their raven did not arrive soon, I will likely send another message, one less kind…
I also received a comedic raven from Lord Blackwood:
'House Peverell – Congratulations on a successful fishing trip. I hope you caught a nice young trout. I look forward to our next meeting.
Lord Blackwood'
The Iron Throne itself did not seem upset based on my spies' reports. The King had actually laughed at Edmure's plight. However, Jon Arryn has sent several nasty letters calling for me to present myself at court for questioning. That would not be a problem, but I do not feel like leaving my newly acquired territory when my hold on power is so tenuous. I responded that I could answer any questions over raven for now but that any travelling is not possible at this moment.
I also received a raven from Lord Stark in Winterfell and additional letter from Lady Stark, obviously written without Lord Stark's knowledge.
'Lord Peverell – I have received reports from the South that you have taken Riverrun and are ruling the Riverlands in the stead of House Tully. I find it hard to believe that you are working in the best interest of House Tully when you sack Riverrun. I also understand that there is a force of Riverlanders at both the Twins and the Ruby Ford, obviously poised to repel any Northern or Vale incursion. I am married to a Tully, yet I find myself unable to make any move to support them. I do, however, have a long memory, Lord Peverell. Remember that. – Lord Stark, Lord of Winterfell, and the North
Lady Stark's message was much less formal and mostly filled with threats of revenge. Eh. Not my problem. They can march their army down here and force me to give them back Riverrun.
I have decided to gift Riverrun to House Longbottom as reward for their loyalty, although I don't believe Susan or Neville really want it. They have one child, a boy, already and I don't believe that Susan plans to leave Harrenhal. I guess Neville will manage it until a different House deserves it.
Lord Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell and the North
I find myself writing in the darkest of times. I had heard of the rumbling of war in the south with my wife's family, however I had hoped they would just be rumors. Apparently, my good-father, Lord Hoster Tully, had passed in the night and the Blackfish had been killed by bandits not two days earlier. Then, my good nephew disappeared on the Kingsroad. An unmitigated disaster for House Tully. Now Catelyn is demanding I march the Northern houses south and reclaim Riverrun for the Tullys.
It is a losing battle arguing with Cat. While I love her with all my heart, she does not think clearly when angry. She has demanded several times that I 'honor our alliance' and retake her childhood home as well as find her brother, if he is even alive. The strategic impossibility illudes her. I would have to take every castle in the Riverlands looking for him if Lord Peverell didn't just kill him and dump his body in some gutter. Then, we can't use the Twins to cross the Trident due to the large force camped on the Western bank. So, we would have to travel all the way to the Ruby Ford, cross the river, defeat the Riverlander army entrenched on the other side, and march through our now enemy's territory to Riverrun. The Northern army would be taken from behind before we even got to Riverrun. I will not have northerners needlessly die when the tactical or strategic situation doesn't benefit us.
Cat doesn't understand however, she just imagines the light grey banners of House Peverell flapping in the wind on the walls of Riverrun. A sad sight, to be sure, but there is nothing to do. I have received several ravens from the south, but the most important being a raven from House Mooton and House Peverell itself besides the letter I sent them.
House Mooton's raven set off our latest spat:
'Lord Stark, it is in the direst circumstances that I write. House Peverell has betrayed our mutual Lord and taken the mantal of Lord Paramount of the Trident for himself. I beseech you to march with a powerful army to the south and help end this upstart Lord with me. – Lord Mooton of Maidenpool'
I cast it into the fire. There is nothing I can do. The last letter was written by the Lady of House Peverell, providing a slight glimmer of hope in this situation:
'Lord Stark, I hope this letter reaches you in good health. I sincerely hope that the Riverlands and the North can continue to have positive relations, even with this unpleasant business occurring. Our two kingdoms have been allied since the conquest and House Peverell hopes that we can continue this tradition. If, in a few years' time, you find it in your heart, we would love to visit Winterfell. – Lady Astoria'
Not anytime soon, but maybe.
Lord Jon Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie and the Vale, Hand of the King
Once again, I am left to pick up the pieces of the Kingdoms. First, it had been the Greyjoy Rebellion. We had been so preoccupied with that war that I failed to see Harrenhal fall to a different family other than the rightful Whent house. When the Crown had found out, Lord Tully had already approved and signed the necessary documents. It was a done deal. Now, Harrenhal is one of the biggest cities in Westeros and only still growing.
I see the folly in allowing another powerful house into the Riverlands. Riverrun is not a big town and the Tully's themselves did not command a large number of banners. They rely on several large, formerly loyal, Houses to make up the bulk of their forces. Prior to Harrenhal's reconstruction, House Vance of Wayfarer's Rest commanded roughly a fourth of the Riverlands banners and was the largest house followed by House Vance of Atranta and House Frey. Then suddenly, over the course of three years, Harrenhal had amassed a huge amount of bannermen. 15,000 standing men at arms, 2,500 city watch, and 25,000 levies. Granted, the amount of land Harrenhal is required to patrol necessitates such a large force, but they were suddenly sixty-five percent of the entire Riverlands forces.
It was no surprise when those houses clamored to swear fealty to House Peverell when they made a move on the Riverlands. It was only a matter of time before Lord Hoster died. Everyone knew this and it was likely that House Peverell was willing to wait even longer before they acted, but the death of both Tully brothers provided the perfect opportunity to act. Did Riverrun need to be sacked? No, but it was a message. Join us or suffer the same fate.
So, now, I am left to pick up the pieces. Lysa, my wife, has demanded that I call the Vale's banners and take back Riverrun. First, I will not plunge the Seven Kingdoms into another civil war and secondly, the logistics of such a move would be a nightmare. The King himself said that this was a Riverlands problem, not the Iron Throne's. If Lord Peverell is Lord Paramount, then so be it as long as he swore fealty. The King compared it to the Reyne-Tarbeck Revolt if the Lannisters had failed to subdue them. The crown didn't get involved then, so there is no need to act now.
I disagreed with this assessment but will not disobey Robert. If the Crown allowed vassals to usurp their Lord's seat whenever they wanted, then who is to say that every year there won't be a new Lord from one of the Kingdoms. It was a slippery slope.
I have penned several ravens to Lord Peverell, at first, angry that he betrayed his Lord, then most recently demanding that he present himself to the King for the oaths. We shall see if this upstart actually presents himself.
Year 3: Day 145
Lord Harry Peverell, Lord of Harrenhal and the Trident
After some time, all of the Riverland Houses except House Mooton and Bracken swore fealty to my House. They had, at first, ignored my ravens. I was understanding, honor is important in these lands. Sometimes, it takes time for these fools to realize the change in power. However, when Maidenpool had returned the head of my first human messenger, I acted.
I thus, informed House Mooton they were now in revolt and were criminals in the Riverlands. I called House Darry of Darry to march with me to Maidenpool. Once it became obvious that the North and the Vale would do nothing, I ordered Neville and Susan to secure the Kingdom. Neville marched with his force of 7,500, House Blackwood, and House Vance of Wayfarer's Rest to Stone Hedge while Susan marched to Maidenpool with the bulk of my forces. I joined them not to long after they arrived.
Thus, there were now 20,000 soldiers camped outside Maidenpool, besieging it from land. House Paege, a direct vassal of the Mootons chose to join our host in defiance of their Lords. A wise choice considering their options. I think I will reward them with Maidenpool after our victory.
Ser Raymun, Lord of Darry, seems to be man of dim intelligence. First, he had questioned why we could not ask the Iron Throne to borrow their fleet to fully siege Maidenpool from the sea. It is a simple answer, I must not look weak to the Kingdoms if I am to gain legitimacy as Lord Paramount of the Trident. Thus, I cannot fully siege this castle. The Bay will continue to allow food and provisions to enter the town. While Seaguard has ships, it would take months for them to arrive. Then, Ser Darry questioned Susan, who funnily enough, was disillusioned in the corner of the tent. When she revealed herself, Lord Darry looked very confused. But he questioned her usefulness as a woman. She is more powerful than Ser Darry would ever be and could destroy him with a flick of her wand.
Susan gave a briefing about the town's defenses. Maidenpool's garrison is around 2,000. Regrettably, Lord Mooton was able to call his banners and reinforce the small garrison that is usually in the town. Lord Grafton of the Vale seems to be supplying the castle, negating our siege, but they strike their sigils when their see our banners farther up the coast so our forces cannot tell who it is. I doubt Lord Arryn is not aware of his vassal's actions, perhaps he even told him to help. I will solve that problem later.
Lord Mooton, according to Susan, believes that the Crown will come to his aid since Lord Arryn is supplying him. This is foolish. I outnumber his forces ten to one and the Crown confirmed my Lordship of the Trident. Susan suggested a small party, maybe herself and I, enter the city and raise two gates to allow entry. She was able to scale the walls and enter the city unhampered, so it appears that House Mooton does not expect a direct assault. Idiots.
I agreed with her plan. Tonight, I will open the South gate and Susan will open the West gate. On our red sparks, our forces will enter the city through each gate. House Mooton will be put to the sword.
Astoria remains at Harrenhal nursing our new baby girl. She looks just like her mother, and I am a proud father. James continues his time as a toddler and is beginning to speak in complete sentences which is both exciting and scary. I deal with enough lip from Astoria, I do not need a small child questioning me.
Year 3: Day 146
Lord Harry Peverell, Lord of Harrenhal and the Trident
The attack last night went off without a hitch. I used my broom to quietly fly up to the top of the wall where I was surprised to find only four guards protecting the gatehouse and portcullis controls. However, there was one slight issue. I accidentally bumped into one of the guards. I was disillusioned at that time, but that caused a large problem. One of the guards questioned the other about it, but there were standing at least fifteen feet apart. So, I used my wand and cast a killing curse at both of them, with one flying off the ramparts. The other two guards saw this and raised the alarm, but I quickly dispatched them. From there, it was easy to raise the gate using magic. A quick intent-based spell and the portcullis shot up into the gatehouse. I disabled the controls at that point and shot off red sparks to signal my banners to attack.
I could see the western gate from my position. It appeared as if Susan was a bit slower than me at raising the gate as I watched several green spells fly off the ramparts. I thought able going to help, but Susan soon shot the red sparks into the sky and soldiers again begin streaming in.
It was over quickly in my opinion. I climbed down from the gatehouse and found myself walking through the streets. The evidence of battle was everywhere. Dead bodies of soldiers, mostly of Mooton colors but also a few Trout and Vance littered the ground. Their swords and shields, abandoned as they fell… Then came the fire and smoke. The screams. It might have affected me years ago, but I had seen this before. All too often. For the first time in a year, I was reminded of my world before. The death I had wrought upon Britain in an effort to be free. While it wasn't hard for me to look upon the damage, as I walked along, I saw a small child hidden under his mother, who was laying on the ground. The mother had obviously died protecting her child, a large cut in her back. The child was crying. I saw a Harrenhal man-at-arm nearby, so I ordered him to take the child back to Harrenhal with us. If he was an orphan, Harrenhal would be the best place for him.
It took about twenty minutes for the town to become deathly quiet. My forces had reached the keep and subdued the remaining guards. Fires still burned and smoke was heavy in the air, but all the while, it was silent. I slowly made my way to the keep where several commanders were bringing out the Mooton survivors out of the relatively intact keep. Now, the problem with not actually being from Westeros is that I have no idea what Lords and Ladies of Houses look like. I have heard that they were nice clothes, etc., but I choose to wear much more practical garments, like the others in Harrenhal. Thus, I had to ask several times who the Lord actually was.
It was a minute with nobody identifying the Lord before one of the captured Mooton guards ratted the Lord out. Lord Mooton was a large man with black scaled armor. I think he had a stab wound that he was nursing on his left side, and he was clinging to a fair skinned woman on his right, probably his wife.
Lord Mooton, once he was caught, began a tirade against my House and Ser Darry. Calling us all traitors and whatnot. He did spill that Ser Darry and him were supposedly friends, yet Ser Darry betrayed him. An interesting development, however unsurprising. It seems loyalty in these lands is fragile. I best not hedge my plans on loyalty from my vassals in the future.
We executed House Mooton and tossed their bodies into the Bay of Crabs. Perhaps they will be eaten by crabs? I bestowed Maidenpool to House Paege and they seemed grateful. It will never be said that House Peverell doesn't reward loyalty.
As I left the castle, a lone violinist played the Rains of Castamere according to Lord Paege. An interesting comparison, but not unwelcome. If anything, this action will cement my ruling of the Riverlands and prevent future uprisings.
