The following day, I said, "We can surprise Dad and Sharon by go outside to rake leaves before we do anything."
"Okay," said Jeff.
Jeff and I had just started to go rake leaves when Kayla and Kaylee came over.
"Hi, girls," said Jeff.
"Good timing. We had just started raking," I said.
"Can we help?" asked Kaylee.
"Sure," I said.
After we finished raking, I said, "Does anyone want pizza?"
"Sure," said Kaylee.
"Can we have a picnic back here?" asked Jeff.
"We can do that," I said.
"And, we can play cards," said Kaylee.
"Okay," I said.
Our favorite is war. We started playing cards when pizza arrived. After we finished, Kaylee threw the stuff out inside and came out back to throw the trash out. That was when the guys showed up.
"What do they want now?" asked Kaylee.
"I want to show Jack your house," said Rick.
"Sorry, I can't let any of you in," I said. "I'm baby-sitting right now."
Apparently, he ignored me because he was about to let himself in.
"Don't they ever listen?" asked Kayla.
"No. Watch Jeff for a moment," I whispered to the girls.
That was when I got up and blocked his way.
"Hold it. Not so fast," I said.
"What's up with you?" asked Rick.
"What did I just tell you? Boys are not allowed in the house when no adult is home don't you guys get? I told you both that the other night," I said.
"Why can't you leave Jeff?" asked Jack.
"Sorry. I can't. I'm responsible for him," I said. "If you can't take no for an answer, I'll throw both of you out of here."
"You can't tell us what to do," said Rick.
"Too bad. I just did," I said.
They left. I knew they wouldn't like it, but I didn't care. It was getting a little warm, so we went inside for the rest of the afternoon.
"Glad you obeyed your father," said Kaylee.
"Tell me about it," I said.
"We can still hang around until your father and Sharon get back because our siblings will be back around that time," said Kayla.
After we finished playing War, we went inside and played some of the video games for an hour when Dad and Sharon came home. The girls had just left by then. I was about to see him in the den when Sharon said, "Are you almost ready to go out?"
"Oh, yes. I almost forgot about that," I said.
We don't eat at home much, especially while Jeff is visiting. After Dad was done finished talking, we were ready to go out for dinner. I hope we can talk when we get back home.
When we get back later, I wanted to see Dad, I noticed he was on the phone. I was in the kitchen making tea. I know how to make it. He lets me make it on my own from time to time. It had just finished when he came in.
"I just made tea," I said.
"You read my mind. I was just about to make tea," said Dad.
I poured the tea and came to the table with the tea cups.
"I went to see you before, but I didn't notice you were on the phone," I said.
"It's alright," said Dad.
"Jeff and I had a good time. We raked and the girls offered to help when they came over before we did anything else," I said.
"Oh, good, thanks for doing that," said Dad.
"Is this a good time to talk?" I asked.
"Sure, what's up?" asked Dad. "How have you been making out with the guys I met recently?"
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. Kayla told me they're bad news," I said.
"Oh, really?" asked Dad.
"Yes," I said. "I had no idea they were like that until she told me."
"She's a good friend by telling you," said Dad. "I had no idea, either."
"I knew that she was right. They were here twice. One was when I was trying to go hang out with the girls. Andy was not helpful. He was trying to come in, too," I said.
"Wasn't he the whom April kept bringing over while I'm not home when I tell her not to?" asked Dad.
"That's the one," I said. "Speaking of him, he accused me for being bossy. It was all because I refused to let any of the guys in without you or Sharon being home. I told him I couldn't help Rick with Math homework without Sharon's permission. I knew she was responsible for me."
"I don't think you are," said Dad.
"I told him that," I said.
"You made that very clear," said Dad.
"He was trying to make things worse by telling me not to say anything," I said.
"Why?" asked Dad.
"He threatened to kill me," I said. "I added I do not hide anything from you."
"You did the right thing by telling me. He shouldn't be forcing you," said Dad.
"Anyway, the guys were about to come in while you and Sharon were out, but I didn't let them," I said.
"Glad you did that," said Dad.
"They were trying to force me to leave Jeff just to show Jack around, but I said no way because I'm responsible for him," I said. "The girls knew I was obeying them and they said it's good I do that. I'm just trying to set a good example."
"If Andy gives you any more trouble, you can come and talk to me anytime," said Dad.
"Okay," I said. "I haven't seen you. I also could've told Sharon, but I never shared any problems with her before. I wouldn't know where to begin."
"I understand," said Dad.
