The following day, I blocked April's number before I went to school. I'm a bit nervous about talking to Mr. Gomez. In the office, I said, "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure, what's up?" asked Mr. Gomez.
"Is it too early to request a change of a division or do I need to wait until I get my shop?" I asked.
"I'll see what I can do," said Mr. Gomez.
"If you can't, don't worry about it because I'm starting to think to transfer over to Portland High School. I'm just worried if my grades start going down because of it, I won't be able to get into Fashion Design," I said. "I was just going to wait and see what happens first."
"I see what you mean and if you want to transfer, I'll help you do that once you make your final decision," said Mr. Gomez. "Another thing is that have you reconsider the friendship with the guys?"
"I haven't been thinking about them lately because I was busy focusing on April first," I said.
"That is understandable," said Mr. Gomez. "What did they do to you was wrong. They're also wrong to pressure you to do anything that you refused to do."
After we had a talk, I went to my explored shop for medical. It was actually pretty good.
I'm enjoying Medical. There will be CPR classes. It would be good since I am a baby-sitter. In fact, I realized that I'm already certified. In fact, I keep it with me at all times. Dad tells me to do that, which makes sense. I got it sealed in a plastic folder.
"The sign ups will be available for the exploratory students only after lunch," said the teacher.
"When is that taken place?" I asked.
"That's a great question. It will be on Friday the weekend before you guys move onto another shop," said the teacher. "There will be videos the day before the CPR test."
"What happens if you're already certified?" asked a student.
"The ones who are certified do not need to take the test unless it's getting close to expire," said the teacher. "You may check yours now and show it to me before you sign up."
It was a good thing I had it on me and took it out. I checked and I'm all set for another set. I got up to show it to him. I started taking them when our club was born. It was part of Kristy's idea, which made sense to be prepared if something happens to any of our clients. They're good for a few years. Mallory and Jessi were able to take the classes when they first came to class.
"I'm good for another year. I'm a baby-sitter," I said.
"Okay, perfect," said the teacher.
"Some of us will need it for next month," said another student.
"Looks like you're the only one who didn't need to do the test so far," said the teacher. "You're still welcome to watch the video and just to go your other shop the following day. Does anyone have more questions?"
"Yes," I said as I raised my hand. "When it's time for me to do it next year, can I just have it done or does it need to be somewhere else?"
"Here will be fine," said the teacher. "It's good for every few years."
At lunch, I spotted April, but I walked the other way before she could see me. Thank god she's not in any of my shops. I heard Beth did the same thing like I did: blocking April's number.
After lunch, I sensed April can't seem to take a hint to leave me alone because all she kept doing is following me while I was going back to my shop. A lot of the kids signed up for the CPR coarse. I was the only one who didn't need to do it.
After school, April came close to me on the way out, I said, "Can't you ever leave me alone?"
She ignored me and said, "Thanks for getting me into trouble. I wanted to know why did you blocked me."
"Well, you got what you deserved. If you were my friend, you wouldn't be yelling at me while I was trying to keep you safe. Why did you think I had to tell your mom?" I asked.
"It's not my fault," said April.
"Yes, it is. She did told you to apologize," I said. "I would never leave anyone out over a boyfriend and that's what you did with that idiot former boyfriend of yours."
"No, he's...," said April.
"Therefore, He should've thought about it before trying to get me on drugs. My father taught me at an early age on how dangerous they can be and he taught me it's okay to say no to any of that. I think we should take a break from each other for awhile since you weren't grateful," I said.
"That's not fair," said April.
"Yes. You're the one who is causing problems with our friendship," I said.
I kept on walking to go home. I am glad what I said to her. I could tell she didn't like that, but I didn't care. I do not have regrets making that decision. If she would've thanked or apologized me, that would've saved our friendship.
Beth and the Willis girls caught up to me.
"Boy, April's got a bad attitude," said Beth.
"She got mad at me for getting her in trouble," I said.
"I don't feel bad for her," said Beth.
"You did what's right," said Kayla.
"I know," I said. "This reminded me on how pushy Jenny was."
"Oh, yeah, we remember," said Kayla.
"If April's going to be pushy like that, the friendship will be over for good," I said.
"Exactly," said Kayla.
"I noticed she didn't like that, but I don't care," I said.
"When are you going to tell your father about what happened?" asked Kaylee.
"Will you drop the subject, Kaylee?" asked Kayla. "Did you forget she had a lot going on this week?"
"I do get what your sister is saying, Kaylee. Mary Anne was being a good friend trying to keep April safe and that was more important," said Beth.
"Oh, yeah, that's true. I can help you tell him if you want," said Kaylee.
"Thanks for the offer, but I would like to do it my own terms," I said.
"No problem," said Kaylee. "I'm just concerned that you could get in trouble and you could lose his trust."
"What you need to do is not put that words in my head. I know what I'm doing. I'm sure that he would understand if I gave him a good reason," I said.
"Mary Anne's correct," said Kayla.
"We're going to be alone tonight, so I plan to tell him then," I said.
I wouldn't yell at people like April did to me. I do tell them in a nice way. I'd be firm if I need to.
Mr. Gomez made me realized I need to think on what to about the guys- including Andy now, but this decision will be even tougher when I'm ready. The breaking news from the other night made me think even more. Dad gave me credit for making those right moves, especially when I saved April's life. What they did to me the other night was uncalled for, especially trying to be firm to say no to their car rides and they were wrong what they did to my wallet.
