I also still needed to talk to Dad about what happened. I noticed the phone bill was paid off. He probably knew I had a good reason to keep putting it off.
"Mary Anne," a voice was heard. "I'm home with pizza."
When I heard that voice, I knew I forgot to set the table. I hate it when my mind isn't set on anything. Luckily, I fled down there.
"I totally forgot you texted me you were coming home with pizza," I said. "My mind was all over the place."
"No worries," said Dad. "We can just paper plates anyway."
It was only us. I enjoy those moments. We'd do things differently like having pizza or go out. Carlos have practice, Dawn is in cheerleading, and Sharon was going out for dinner with her co workers. I went to get paper plates and put them on the table.
"April was not happy that I told her I was taking breaks with her," I said. "She tries to blamed me for getting her in trouble. Her mom texted me saying she's grounded for a month."
"She deserved it," said Dad.
"I know. I forgot to tell you the reason she was in a bad mood. She and Andy broke up. She shouldn't take it out on me. She could've thanked me or at least apologized like her mom told her to," I said.
"I agree," said Dad.
After dinner, we cleaned up.
"Do you want to get some ice cream? We can bring it home while we watching a movie for a change," said Dad.
"Sounds good," I said.
Then, we left to get ice cream. For some reason, I was craving for a milkshake. I haven't had that in a while.
"Do you want to share a sundae?" asked Dad.
"Sure," I replied. "Do you mind if I can also get a milkshake?"
"That's fine by me," said Dad.
After we got them, we went to go have it at home. I just needed this to clear my mind before saying anything to him.
At home, while I turned a movie on, I noticed something funny: "Um, our ice cream is turning into soup."
When we both noticed that, we just laughed it off. I needed that, too. Glad I put the TV before that because my hands got a bit sticky. It's okay, we made it through somehow.
After we were done with our ice cream, I went to throw the plastic things away. I washed my hands before I came back to him to continue our movie night. I was still drinking the milkshake, which still survived.
"Thanks, Dad. This was a fun time," I said. "I needed this to clear my mind off from things."
"I can tell something else have been bothering you this week," said Dad.
"It's a long story, but I saved that part for last otherwise we'd still have a mess on our hands," I joked. We laugh at stuff like that.
I managed to tell him about what happened while he listened. "Police was called. The guys must have snatched from me when I called you. They returned to the office, but at the time, wallet was missing. Luckily for me, it was returned, but not in a good condition. Also, I was told that the police found tons of drugs in Andy's car."
"Oh, really?" asked Dad.
"So, I won't be surprised that's where my missing money went," I said. "Oh, I heard they all got arrested, lost their license for 90 days, and are suspended for almost a week as a result causing the crash by reckless driving."
"That would teach them," said Dad.
"I did notice you haven't mentioned about the guys much since you saw them on the breaking news," said Dad.
"I almost forgot about it until Mr. Gomez brought that up," I said.
"What stopped you?" asked Dad.
"Honestly, the one I focused on the most was April," I said.
He was taking my hand. "I understand trying to keep a friend is important."
"Kaylee was trying to make me worry even more," I said.
"What did she say to you?" asked Dad.
"She thinks you'd get mad at me and I'd lose your trust," I said.
"Why did she think that?" asked Dad.
I shrugged. "I don't know, but told her not to put that in my head."
"Kaylee shouldn't be saying that to you and I'm glad you told her that," said Dad. "I knew you have a good reason: You had a lot going on this week."
"I get that she was watching out for me, but I told her I wanted to focus on April first and I added you would understand," I said. "She offered to help me to tell you, but I told her I wanted to tell you my own way."
"She knows you would always come to talk to me about anything and I'm here to listen. She should also know that I trust you. I don't worry about you," said Dad.
"I'm already starting thinking about getting rid of the guys anyway. I'm not talking about taking a break like I just did with April, but to end things with them altogether," I said.
"I don't blame you, sweetie," said Dad. "I paid the phone bill."
"I thought so," I said. "There's another I would like to add. After a lot of thinking, I think it's better off if I leave the school and go to the public school. I'm glad we talked about this."
"So am I," said Dad.
"I'd wait until the holidays, but I would've been on the waiting list if my grades decline due to all the stress," I said.
"You have a good point," said Dad.
"I'm going to see Mr. Gomez tomorrow. He told me he'd help me transfer," I said.
"That's a good thing," said Dad.
"The CPR course for Medical isn't mandatory anyway because my certificate doesn't expire until next year, so I'm not worried about that part," I said.
I felt better after talking to him. I'm just glad that I got it out of my system.
