"This is most unfortunate." said the blue cloaked being. "I weep for those who sleep here. Can you not return to Ozari-thul?"
"With the war going on with the Klingons it is not possible." said Lyakat in a crestfallen tone.
Naruto closed his eyes. "There is another option."
"What is it?" asked Devlok.
"My ancestress Kaguya Otsutsuki still exists on Tori Prime IV. She can teach me." replied the Fleet Captain.
"The Rabbit Goddess Kaguya is insane." stated the Guardian. "She has a Messiah complex. That is why I left her behind when I came to Rzom."
Naruto shook his head. "She's had two thousand years to reflect in isolation and has regained her sanity. She told me long ago that she would teach me Sage Mode but Tori Prime IV is forbidden as too dangerous by Starfleet Command."
"What happened at Tori Prime IV that was so bad?" asked Lyakat.
"I was created." answered the last Shinobi…

Chapter 84
Stardate 2286.033, Epimetheus III System, Planet Atra, City of Rzom-thul
Doctor Alison Fairbanks M'Fau knew the whole story of how Naruto was created. She felt the whole ban on Tori Prime IV (or actually Storzn) was patently ridiculous -at least where Naruto was concerned. As it stood, the Admiralty was in a debate as to whether the ban should be lifted temporarily so Naruto could learn 'Sage Mode' well enough to awaken the sleeping people of Storzn.
The entire scientific community was in an uproar that the sleeping Shinobi were left entombed when they could be revived and learned from. The Atraens were eager to see the people of Rzom-thul awakened. It was just a matter of political drudgery as far as Doctor Fairbanks could tell.
It took nearly four weeks and a lot of testimonials by the scientists involved before a decision was made: NCC-1602 U.S.S. Wolverine would make the journey to Tori Prime IV.

Stardate 2286.067, Federation Space, NCC-1602 U.S.S. Wolverine
"Personal Log of Naruto M'Fau, Stardate 2286.067. At long last I am going to meet my Grandmother Kaguya Otsutsuki face to face. I have been speaking to her mentally and she is thrilled that we will be able to see each other at last. She says it will take two weeks to a month to teach me Sage Mode and that the technique is virtually useless in space. Nevertheless, it is powerful on a planet as it draws from the living energy around it. It should be fascinating…"
The blonde Vulcan turned off his log recorder and saw his beautiful wife M'rella lying on her side in bed with her head propped up on one arm. She was worried about him going down to the surface of Tori Prime IV all alone. All his mates were concerned but M'rella was the most bothered about it. He laid down beside her and she cupped his cheek. "We're only a day out from Tori Prime." she said. "I want you to be safe my love."
Naruto leaned in and kissed her warmly. "It will be fine. I'm going to visit my Grandmother Kaguya for some training. That is all."
M'rella wasn't convinced. "Most Grandmothers aren't considered power mad goddesses you know."
"She is a lonely spirit M'rella." he replied. "She deeply regrets her past and what happened to her children."
"I love you Naruto." she said.
He gave her a tiny smile. "And I love you M'rella…"

Stardate 2286.068, Tori Prime IV Orbit, NCC-1602 U.S.S. Wolverine
The next morning, the U.S.S. Wolverine entered the Tori Prime System and slowly plodded its way through the dust and asteroids that surrounded Tori Prime IV. "The world is ravaged by magnetic and gravimetric storms just as the records from the U.S.S. Republic show dated thirty-two years ago Captain." said Alison dubiously as she looked up from the science station. "The ruins of the tower in the northern hemisphere and the area two kilometers around it are showing up as stable though."
Naruto closed his eyes and sensed Kaguya's powerful presence. "I'd best not keep her waiting then. There is much to learn and little time to do it in. While I'm down on the surface I want you all to map Storzn in its entirety as the U.S.S. Republic never did due to extenuating circumstances."
"Circumstances like you?" asked Shizuka humorously.
"Precisely." replied the Fleet Captain.

Tori Prime IV, Tower Ruins
Naruto beamed down to the surface of the devastated world that was once called Storzn by the Tkon. Despite the fact his mindset was rooted in logic, the blonde couldn't help but feel pangs of depression that a once lush world was reduced to this desolate state by its own inhabitants.
He heard Kaguya's voice echo down from the tower entrance. "There was a beautiful, silver moon that once orbited Storzn. The Chakra Cannon blasted it into debris and killed your last incarnation in one, horrible blast. I was set free from my imprisonment that day and saw the massive chunks of the moon devastate the world. I was so horrified that it struck me catatonic. My wonderous garden was reduced to an ashen wasteland…"
Naruto replied, "But there were survivors that the Guardian took to Rzom-thul two hundred years later."
The Rabbit Goddess descended the stairs and said, "Yes, I was still insane with grief at the time and provided them with no help at all. If anything, I was a threat. It wasn't until hundreds of years later when my own chakra dwindled that my sanity finally returned. By that time, the Guardian and the few children left were long since gone…and I was alone with my thoughts and the one remaining grandchild I had…You, Naruto."
She smiled at her grandson and said, "Let me look at you." Kaguya admired him for a moment and said, "Your mates are very lucky. Their children will be far more powerful than the children on Rzom. Your chakra is incredibly strong compared to theirs. That's why Siegfried is so strong. I foresee your other children having similar strength."
"I need to teach Alison about chakra." said Naruto. "I don't know how to draw it out."
Kaguya held up a finger and smiled. "That will be a simple matter once you learn Sage Mode. Still, those Q getting involved and altering her is very worrisome. They are dangerous creatures. I wish they would mind their own business instead of toying with others. Oh, well. Come my grandson, I have much to teach you in the next few weeks."

Tori Prime IV Orbit, NCC-1602 U.S.S. Wolverine
The crew of the Fast Cruiser Wolverine was not idle in the meantime. They mapped the area that was once known as the Elemental Nations and spread their search out from there. Sadly, they found very little evidence of intelligent life ever being on Storzn. The few ruins of the civilization that once existed were ravaged into dust by gravimetric upheavals and an unstable core.
There were primitive life forms such as lichen and molds but aside from Kaguya there was nothing evolved on land. The seabeds were abundant with life, but the raging magnetic and gravity storms caused many of the primitive creatures there to evolve radically from their baselines to survive.
Maya Ayusugi summed it up nicely when she said, "This world is a wonderful case study, but it will be millions of years before it will be inhabitable, if ever. The cataclysmic damage caused by the moon's destruction to the planet turned it from a Class M world into a primitive, violently unstable hunk of rock."

Tower Ruins
While the U.S.S. Wolverine was orbiting in the heavens above, Naruto had been on a secret journey deep within his own mind. He saw things beyond comprehension that were locked away deep in his subconscious that his previous incarnations such as Ostutsuki Ashura, Senju Hashirama and Uzumaki Naruto had achieved… Then he finally found it within himself… Sage Mode.
The Tower Ruins that Kaguya existed in lit up with power as Naruto's body drew on the raw chakra energy of senjutsu for the first time. "I am proud of you Naruto." said Kaguya's ethereal voice. "You've done it. The rest is up to you…"
Kaguya ceased to be and the pocket of calm that the ruins existed in began to collapse. Naruto grabbed his communicator and said rapidly, "M'Fau to Wolverine, I have one for emergency beam out."
"Copy you Captain, stand by." replied M'rella worriedly.
Naruto felt the welcome sensation of the ship's transporter activating and the next thing the blonde knew, he was in Transporter Room One aboard the Wolverine. He saw Heidi Gaul at the transporter console who gave a wave and said, "Ensign Gaul to bridge, Fleet Captain Naruto is safely aboard."

U.S.S. Wolverine, Bridge
Commander Jackie Nodaway watched in both awe and horror as the Tower Ruins that Kaguya called her home imploded within a minute of Naruto calling for an emergency beam out. Then the bridge crew heard Heidi Gaul's welcome voice. "Ensign Gaul to bridge, Fleet Captain Naruto is safely aboard."
Everyone let out a sigh of relief and Jackie said, "Nodaway to sickbay, Doctor Shelly Wilson to Transporter Room One to check on Fleet Captain Naruto."
"Wilson here, I'm on my way." said Shelly over the comm.

In a whirlwind of activity, Naruto was inside sickbay getting a full physical by Doctor Wilson and Doctor Hammond. After about thirty minutes of poking, prodding, and scanning by the medical staff, Greg Hammond laughed and said, "You're ridiculously healthy as ever Fleet Captain. To think I was worried."
Counselor Ino Yamanaka was there as well and asked, "What happened to Kaguya, Captain Naruto?"
The blonde Fleet Captain said, "She completed her final task and moved on to the next phase of being. Kaguya Otsutsuki no longer exists." He had moisture in his eyes and whispered, "She said she was proud of me."
Shelly Wilson set her medical scanner down and asked, "Did you do it? Did you achieve Sage Mode?"
Naruto raised an eyebrow. "Actually, I did. It draws on the natural energy of life itself. For it to be of any real use, you need to be on a planet full of life… Like Rzom."
"Fascinating!" replied Shelly. "It sounds like you'll be able to act as a vast bioelectric conduit. I can't wait to see this in action!"
Ino sweat dropped. "You make Naruto sound like some kind of power converter."
"Actually, Doctor Wilson isn't entirely wrong." explained Naruto.
The Counselor just facepalmed and shook her head.
"This is going to be fantastic!" exclaimed Greg.

Stardate 2286.089, Tori Prime IV Orbit, NCC-1602 U.S.S. Wolverine
"…With Kaguya's death, I believe the ban on Tori Prime IV should no longer be in effect. There is no longer any sentient life in the system. However, it is a very dangerous and hostile environment that should be examined from orbit or via probe." said Naruto as he recorded his log entry.
"Now to head to Planet Atra…" he thought aloud.
The Wolverine finished gathering data on the ravaged world before leaving the Tori Prime System behind. It was a somber occasion for Naruto knowing Kaguya was gone but now was a time to look forward rather than back. The Rabbit Goddess had no regrets when she passed on.

Stardate 2286.090, Epimetheus III System, Planet Atra Orbit, NCC-638 U.S.S. Grissom
Commander Lyakat was thrilled to hear from Fleet Captain Naruto that he had achieved Sage Mode. On the other hand, the Saurian scientist was saddened by Kaguya's passing. He had hoped that they could learn more about the Tkon people from her.
Captain Naruto said over subspace, "Our mission was a success. The Wolverine is travelling at Warp Factor Four Doctor Lyakat. Our current ETA is six days."
"You can't imagine how thrilled I am to hear this news Fleet Captain." stated the Saurian. "Soon the people of Rzom-thul will once again be awake. What is this Sage Mode like?"
"It is a state of being where one is connected to all life surrounding oneself." explained the blonde Vulcan. "Without a common point of reference, I cannot describe it further."
Now Lyakat wanted to facepalm. "You are saying that you can't explain Sage Mode to someone who hasn't experienced Sage Mode?"
Naruto nodded. "Exactly. However, I believe I will be able to teach it to my son Siegfried someday." Naruto gave the Vulcan salute. "Peace and long life, Doctor Lyakat. I will see you in six days. U.S.S. Wolverine out."
"In six days then." replied Lyakat. "U.S.S. Grissom out."

U.S.S. Wolverine, Sickbay
Doctor Alison Fairbanks M'Fau was very excited. Today was the day she would have her chakra unlocked and soon…very soon she'd be walking on ceilings in open defiance of gravity! The redhead wanted to cackle with evil glee.
She was lying in a bed in sickbay where every kind of monitor imaginable on the ship was set up. Doctor Fairbanks didn't mind the sensors and scanners at all, but Naruto was less than thrilled. He wanted to do this in a quiet, intimate setting where they could have a little privacy.
The redhead said, "Okay Doctor M'Fau, explain to the audience what you are doing."
Naruto wanted to face fault. Seeing the excitement in Alison's emerald green eyes he said, "Very well… Your chakra system is currently dormant like a small child's would be. I am going to infuse you with some of my active chakra directly into your chakra core which is below and within your heart. I do not believe it will cause you any pain or shock but be prepared just in case."
She made a fist. "Let's do this!" said the redhead.
Naruto placed his hand over her heart and his eyes lit up golden with a tiny bit of sage chakra. "Here we go." he said.
Alison watched her husband's hand glow blue and felt an electric warmth travel from the tips of her toes to the top of her head like a wave. Then she felt her heartbeat and focused on it. The redhead inhaled deeply and then felt a muted explosion of power within. Alison watched in amazement as her body began to glow with blue flames that were cool to the touch.
"This…this is chakra!" she whispered loudly. "I feel incredible, it's like I'm overflowing with power!" She interlaced her fingers with Naruto's and felt their energies flowing harmoniously. "This is amazing Naruto!"
The blonde said, "It feels like your chakra is stabilizing. I'm going to pull my hand away, so you'll be centered upon your own chakra instead of our combined energies."
She smiled warmly. "Okay… how long will I glow like fire?"
"I glowed for about ten minutes as a small child." said Naruto. "After that I felt completely rested."
Eight minutes later, the blue flames vanished, and Alison was giddy. "I can't believe this! It feels like it was part of me all along." She turned to her mate and said happily, "Thank you Naruto."
He gave her a tiny smile. "You are welcome, Alison."

Doctor Wilson, the medical and science staff of the U.S.S. Wolverine were having a field day studying chakra energy and bioelectric energy in general. Naruto's chakra system was fully developed long before the Think Tank came together but Doctor Fairbanks' new abilities were a welcome boon for their studies.

U.S.S. Wolverine, Botanical Gardens
"…So how do I use it?" asked Alison eagerly.
Naruto's eyes sparkled with mirth as he plucked a leaf off one of the vines in the ship's botanical gardens and pressed it against Alison's forehead. "Just practice holding that on your forehead with chakra for now."
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me!" whined the redhead.
The blonde explained, "The easiest place to focus chakra is your forehead. I had to learn the leaf exercise and you will as well." He kissed her nose. "It is essential to learn the most basic exercises and master them before moving on to the next."

Stardate 2286.096, Epimetheus III System, Planet Atra
Alison was starting to get the hang of the leaf sticking exercise by the time the Wolverine made it back to Planet Atra and settled into orbit. It wasn't long before Fleet Captain Naruto M'Fau was down on the surface speaking to the Guardian of Rzom-thul along with his wives.
"So, the Rabbit Goddess is no more?" asked the Guardian.
Naruto nodded. "She faded away after I entered Sage Mode for the first time successfully."
The blue wearing synthetic being said, "I suppose she earned her eternal rest in the end."

The Guardian soon took them to an Otsutsuki Crest that was several meters across in the central square of Rzom-thul. "You need to channel sage chakra into the center of your family crest, Heir of Rzom. It will bring those sleeping in the inner sanctum out of stasis after centuries of sleep."
"How much power will it take?" asked Naruto.
The Guardian explained, "That depends upon the density of your chakra. The batteries here can store vast amounts so stop if you begin to tire."
It wasn't long before Naruto was in the middle of the crest and every sensor was focused on him. He felt a bit self-conscious being at the center of attention but felt the positive energy flowing into him from all over Atra. Focusing his will, Naruto slowly started to gather senjutsu energy into his body and began to glow golden for about fifteen minutes.
Suddenly, Naruto slammed his hand onto the ground in the kneeling position and the shockwave of energy nearly blew those nearby off their feet. To those closest it was like being enveloped in a firestorm with no heat. They felt the power in their very bones.
Alison was there with her tricorder and was excited beyond belief as she felt her husband's warmth wash over and through her like a tsunami.
Doctor Shelly Wilson was almost as thrilled as Alison was. The data she was collecting had her astounded. "This is fantastic!" she called.
"I absolutely had no idea…!" yelled Lyakat over the roar.
The Guardian withstood the chakra wave well enough but her two heralds had to brace themselves. 'He is truly the Heir of Rzom...' thought the artificial lifeform. 'Lord Otsutsuki's chakra is so dense that he is unto a force of nature.'
As suddenly as the chakra storm began it ended, revealing a panting Naruto kneeling with his hand on the ground. The Otsutsuki Crest on the ground glowed brightly as the city of Rzom-thul gradually lit up and gently came to life after many millennia of sleep.
Alison was the first to reach her panting husband and said, "You did it, Naruto!" as he was surrounded by his loving wives.

Planet Atra Orbit, NCC-1602 U.S.S. Wolverine
Commander Nodaway watched the city of Rzom-thul from orbit as it lit up. "Damn, our Captain puts on quite a show when he wants to."
Maya Ayasugi looked up from the sensor station and said, "For a moment there it was all him, not the city."
That's when various transmissions started flying all over Planet Atra. "Fairbanks to Wolverine, did you get all that?"
Shar was at the communications station and said, "Wolverine here, Ayasugi is still recording data. Tell the Fleet Captain well done."
Alison laughed. "I will! He's worn out."
"I can't imagine why." said Jackie humorously. "All he did was power up a city."

Rzom-thul
Naruto was sitting and relaxing as he drank electrolytes provided by Doctor Wilson. His wives were fussing over him. "You didn't have to do it all in one go!" exclaimed Shizuka.
"Shizuka is right Naruto." said Samui. "You are exhausted."
"I needed to test my new limits for future reference." stated Naruto.
T'Lyra ruffled his hair. "You have always been an overachiever."
M'rella kissed his forehead. "As long as you are alright."
The blonde said tiredly, "I will be fine…in a few minutes…"
"I thought it was fantastic!" said Alison happily.
Doctor Devlok strolled over and stated, "Marvelous Doctor Naruto. Simply marvelous. Masses of data are pouring in and the people of Rzom-thul will soon awaken. You have once again exceeded my wildest expectations."
Lyakat added, "I'm glad I was wearing my dark goggles. For a moment there looking at you was like staring at the sun, Doctor Naruto. It was quite a spectacle. On behalf of all the scientists gathered here in Rzom-thul, I thank you."

Stardate 2286.099, Planet Atra Orbit, NCC-1602 U.S.S. Wolverine
Fleet Captain Naruto M'Fau was totally spent, and Chief Medical Officer Shelly Wilson had ordered him to take two days of bed rest in sickbay to fully recover. The blonde reluctantly agreed and put himself in a healing trance for the next forty-eight hours.
When he awoke, he saw T'Lyra was sleeping peacefully beside his bed in a chair with her small hand wrapped around his larger one. Her brown eyes fluttered open and looked deeply into his blue ones. 'Good morning beautiful.' he thought to her psychically.
She gave him a tiny smile in the low light, and she asked, 'Did you sleep well?'
He gently squeezed her hand. 'Yes, I am fully recovered.'
'Good. I was concerned that you strained yourself too much this time.' she replied. 'You need to learn to not overdo it Naruto M'Fau. It's 04:00. I need to sleep for the next two hours. Let us rest.'
'Sleep my Wildflower Princess.' he said before settling in for two more hours himself…

Alison Fairbanks' Office
"Science Officer's Log, Stardate 2286.101. Doctor Alison Fairbanks reporting. The first of the people of Storzn have begun to wake up and are being inoculated and checked for diseases that might be harmful to them or the people of Atra. They seem both surprised and thrilled to be alive again and in a peaceful city of their own. Having lived in the hostile environment of their homeworld for so long, the safety presented in Rzom-thul must be a shock to them."
"All those past a young age can harness chakra and those who can use offensive ninjutsu and practice the martial arts are called the Shinobi. They make up about half of the population. The other half mainly work in positions that support the Shinobi. Their most experienced and powerful leaders are called Kage which means 'shadow' and the position is highly revered."
The city of Rzom-thul itself has enough power to last centuries due to the massive influx of sage chakra from Fleet Captain Naruto M'Fau and the fact it will be constantly charged by the excess chakra coming from the people of Storzn themselves.
"On a personal note, as both a scientist and a person who can wield chakra, I would love to spend time among the citizens of Rzom-thul once the war is over. They seem to be a fascinating people."

Planet Atra Orbit, NCC-638 U.S.S. Grissom
Commander Lyakat was speaking with Fleet Captain Naruto from his quarters aboard the Grissom. The Saurian scientist was explaining the situation on the surface to the blonde Vulcan. "The people of Rzom-thul consider you to be a great Sage, Doctor Naruto. It's a shame you can't stay for a while as they wake up."
"That's where you, Doctor Devlok and the many scientists studying the Tkon Empire come in Doctor Lyakat." replied Naruto. "I believe you've only scratched the surface of Rzom-thul now that it is open. Alison and I will be watching for your papers on the Tkon eagerly."
"It's still a crying shame this war is on, and the Wolverine has to fight in it." said Lyakat. "Minds like the Think Tank should be involved in loftier pursuits than fighting against the Klingons."
Naruto nodded. "I couldn't agree more." He gave the Vulcan Salute. "Peace and long life Doctor Lyakat."
The Saurian smiled. "Until we meet again Doctor Naruto."

Federation Space, NCC-1602 U.S.S. Wolverine
Jackie Nodaway saw Naruto step out of his Ready Room and onto the Bridge. The blonde Fleet Captain turned to Rafi and asked, "Course and speed?"
The Trill reported, "On course for Soll III, speed Warp Factor Four."
"Steady as she goes Rafi." said Naruto.
Rafi smiled. "Aye sir, steady as she goes."
After checking in with everybody, the Fleet Captain took the command chair and thought back to the first time he'd sat in in a command chair aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise as a boy so long ago. 'It's been a long journey, but it's been worth it.' he thought wistfully.
Shizuka spoke to him mentally, 'Getting sentimental in your old age, Fleet Captain?"
'Just reflecting on things Shizuka.' he thought warmly.
