"Filía! Do you want to be late?" Nessa asked hitting me with her pink pillow.
"Touch me with that again and I will turn it to dust." I was serious, I don't want to be touched by that... Thing, "And late for what?"
"Class, you have 10 minutes." She said gathering her things.
"And you just now decided to wake me!" I jumped out of bed and quickly got dressed, pulled my hair back and started to look for my books; which were nowhere to be found, "Where are my books? Ness what'd you do with my books?"
"I'll see you in class." She said walking out the door.
Okay, the locator spell you read about... What was it? I thought. But came up with nothing. I started to panic. I can't show up to class without my books. Where did she- The closet. When does she not hide my things in her closet? I opened her closet and my books were on the top shelf. Levitated them down and started to run to class. But I was one second too late…
"How nice of you to join us Ms. Filía." Mama Yackle said handing me my detention slip as I took my seat, "Now onto our location spell..."
"Ugh..." I groaned.
-Detention-
The only thing out of the ordinary was that Alethea wasn't in detention, which was a little weird.
"What'd you do this time?" Zedekiah asked pulling papers out of his bag.
"I was running late because I couldn't find my books." I said taking my seat and pulling out my autobiography on Glinda.
"Why not ask her yourself; about the assignment." He pointed at the book with his pen.
"We hardly get along." I said opening my book.
"I'm sorry to hear that."
"Don't be. Nessa was always the favorite..." I put my book down, "Not that you really care about my life." I rubbed my forehead, "Not that anyone does." I mumbled.
"If you need someone to talk to I'll be more than-"
"I'm fine thanks."
"Okay, but my offer still stands."
"I don't talk to people who lie." I said staring at him.
He looked back at me, "Seems to me that lying really hurts you."
"So you're a shrink now?"
"No, just a really good observer."
"You can't help everyone Dr. Slye; some people just aren't worth saving." I was speaking the truth, some people aren't worth saving. I'm almost not worth saving. Almost.
-Healing-
So we have twenty minutes left in the class, right? Everything is going (boringly) smooth until some guy walks in and introduces himself. Acted like he was lost in the school, I mean, really? I could think of a better reason for being late...
"Isaias Quillam, sorry I'm late; I was having trouble finding the class."
"Of course Isaias, you're the transfer There's a seat available next to Ms. Nessarose. And I do hope that you'll show up on time tomorrow." Professor Barabachus said.
"Yes sir." He said walking into my desk, "Sorry Filía."
"Invest in some spectacles, kid." I said, straightening out my desk.
When the bell finally rang I ran out that door to escape anyone who may need me, and to get away from that Quillam freak... This didn't work. We also have History together. Joy... Our topic today is on Glinda. Yay… Yeah, no.
"Filía, what can you tell us about Glinda?" Zedekiah asked closing the book, resting his hands on it.
For the first time, I really didn't have much that I could say... Well, that's not true, I did but I can't exactly ruin her, even if I did want to, "Well... What was said about her in the text book is true." It almost pained me to say that but I always find something wrong with this curriculum, "However, that's not the whole story. Yes she's a Good Witch but sorcery wasn't what she was initially going to study. She was studying in politics, but after the death of one of her teachers she found herself more skilled in sorcery and dedicated her studies to that." I took a breath.
"Continue." Zedekiah said.
My head was spinning with the things that I knew and found, trying to keep it all straight, but before I could continue, Isaias seemed to have an opinion of his own…
"Glinda befriended the Wicked Witch and they both knew that the Wizard was a fraud. The Wicked Witch, before she as Wicked, was trying to fix the damage that has been caused in Oz over the many decades. When the Wicked Witch died, Glinda threatened to expose the Wizard for who he really was unless he left Oz. So he left Oz, then Glinda, following in the Witch's footsteps, to this very day, trying her best to fix Oz and to truly earn her title as "Glinda the Good."" He said.
How does he know that? No one knows that but Glinda and I. Who is this he? And what else does he know...
"Looks like I have another student with a different opinion." Zedekiah said, "Good work you two."
I felt like a spell was casted upon me. He took my spotlight. The one time I felt like I mattered. Stop it Filía, this is nothing to get upset about. I thought, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I started to escape to my black hole. Everyone's entitled to-
"Now, that report I assigned to you on Thursday is due Friday. So homework…"
I escaped back into my black hole. Blocked everything out… Until I felt a touch on my shoulder.
"Filía, class is over." Zedekiah said resting his hand on my shoulder.
I looked at him, a nodded my head shrugging his hand away, saying, "Come on Ness, you don't want to be late meeting up with Glinda." I stood up as Zedekiah made his way back to his desk. I looked at Nessa, who was glaring at me, "What?"
"Why would you do that?" She asked.
"Do what?"
"I wish my mother never found you. I wish you weren't even here." She gathered her things, and walked to the door but before she walked out she looked over her shoulder saying, "Maybe it would have been best if you didn't find out about your real parents." Then she left the class room.
What in Oz is she talking about? I thought, leaning against me desk as Zedekiah just stared at me.
"No, we actually do get along. Yes, she'll regret what she has said in the next day or two. No, I probably won't find out what she's talking about, so will you stop staring before people think you're in love with me?" I said turning around to gather my things, "You wouldn't even recognize me if I was in that ugly, green stained, dress." I bit my tongue, wishing I didn't say that. It's a curse, I swear. I say things that I know I shouldn't really say to get the attention that I don't want. Why? Why me?
"It was you who I ran into?" He asked turning to look at me, "You who I kissed. It's you, who I can't stop think about."
"Dr.-"
"Please call me Zedekiah." He insisted, walking over to me.
"I have nothing to say. You're more interested in my sister then me." I said turning around with my books in hand, "Trust me; this wouldn't be the first time."
"It's true; I thought you were Nessarose but-"
"I'm different? I have heard it before. You don't need to lie to me to justify yourself."
"I can't stop thinking about you."
"You didn't even know it was me until 5 seconds ago, besides, I'll give you a week to forget about me." I said making my way towards the door.
"Why are you assuming that I'd forget about you?"
"Because everyone does." I said over my shoulder, leaving the class room.
After I dropped my books and stuff off at my room I decided to go for a walk. A really long walk. A walk away from everything. I barely noticed it was getting dark but when I did, I didn't care enough to walk back to my room. I just stayed engaged in my thoughts. Like Quillam, who is he? How did he know that? How could he know that? I don't like it. He could cause trouble. He could be trouble. More importantly I need to find out what he knows if he knows about me. About my mom... My dad even.
Then a voice spoke, bringing me back to the reality that I'd rather not be in right now.
"You should really be heading back, Filía." I felt the warm breath on my neck, "Curfew's in an hour."
"I'm tired of playing by the rules."
"Then believe me when I say, I won't forget you."
"Zedekiah." I said almost happy that he found me.
"Let me walk you back to your room." He insisted.
"I'm capable of getting back to my room on my own." I said knowing what he was doing.
"Filía please."
"You won't change my mind." I turned to face him, avoiding his eyes.
"I just want you to listen." I'm tired of listening. I thought as I rolled my eyes and started to walk in the direction of my room. Zedekiah followed, saying, "I thought you were Nessarose, yes, but I'm not sorry that it wasn't her in your place." He grabbed my arm, making me look into his eyes, "You're different. You are unlike any girl I have ever met."
"Try again." I said escaping his grasp and continued to walk. That feeling that I had inside when we were alone at the ball in the kitchen, the one that told me to just go with it. It's back and it keeps telling me that he was different. That he wasn't like the rest. I ignored it and started to rub my arms, wishing I brought a coat.
"Here," He said draping his cloak over my shoulders, "Better."
I simply nodded me head.
"So, I wasn't the only one stuck in the kitchen?" He asked, changing the subject.
"I was there more than you think."
"I'm listening."
"I can't." I stopped, "It's not something- You wouldn't understand."
He placed his hands on my arms, "You can trust me." He said looking into my eyes.
"It's not that simple."
His hand was against my face as he kissed me.
Don't let him go, Filía. He's all you need. I heard. I pulled away.
"What's wrong?" Zedekiah asked examining the confused look on my face.
"I thought I heard something." I took off his cloak and handed it to him, "I really should be going." I walked away toward the direction of my room.
AdoniaAlma is still unavailable. But not to worry, I'll still keep this story going, I'll just work extra hard. :) On a better-ish note, I'm writing a Christmas (or how it is better known in Oz, Lurlinemas) chapter for next month. So, leave a review and let me know what you think. Happy Thanksgiving :)
