Being my life, all you need to know is that I fell asleep in his arms. Yes, I have broken a rule by being with Zedekiah, but according the Glinda, I have broken every rule possible so what's one more? Zedekiah and I have been together for a while and as far as Glinda's concerned, she knows nothing about it. She does, however, know about Quillam and Nessa sneaking around and she pretty hates him. Not that it stopped Nessa from seeing him. I have quickly forgotten about Arron. Knowing that he'll try to do it again, I'll most likely do my best to avoid him… At least try to.
Anyway, for majority of my summer I locked myself in my room either reading a book or writing letters to Zedekiah. There were a few times that Glinda tired the force me out of my room but she was never successful. Finally, the time came to go back to Shiz. While everyone else was excited to see their friends, I was excited for my classes, and to see Zedekiah. If I only knew what was going to happen that year, I would have found a way to stop it…
"Filía, wake up. You have class in an hour." I heard a soft voice whispered in my ear, "You wouldn't want to be late on the first day would you?"
"Considering that Yackle is still my first hour teacher, yes, I would want to be. Better reason for getting detention." I said holding the arms that held me.
"Well, stay here as long as you'd like but unfortunately I have a class to teach." Zedekiah said slipping away.
"Fine, I'll get up." I mumbled sitting up when a pillow hit me in the head, "Hey!" I threw it back, only to miss.
"You really should work on your aim." He grinned walking into the bathroom.
I rolled my eyes, falling back into the bed.
-Sorcery-
"Ms. Filía, are we going to have the same trouble like we did last year?" Mama Yackle asked, good to know that her hearing still works.
"Me, trouble? And here I thought you loved me."
"Do we need to go over my rule again?"
"No, the shrieking from last year is still lingering in my ear."
Mama Yackle started to writing on that familiar piece of paper and then handed it to me.
"Enjoy the rest of your year, Ms. Filía."
"I plan to."
Once the bell rang I walked out of class running into Alethea, who pulled me to the side to talk.
"Having fun?" She smirked.
"It's the first day, Alethea. Ask me again in a few weeks."
"Not what I was talking about."
"Do I even care what you are talking about?" I asked ready for this conversation to be over.
"You're little sister let the cat out of the bag and who knows what else she told me."
"You're going to have to be a little more specific." I said as my heart beat doubled.
"I'm talking about you and Zedekiah. How many secrets do you have?" She wondered, "Anyway, stay away from him. Not just because I saw him first but because he'll hurt you when he comes back to me." She said jabbing her finger against me chest.
"You're going to have to do more than a finger jab to scare me. Now if you don't mind, I have a class to go to. I'm sure I'll be seeing you in detention." I said starting to walk away but then turned around, only to see that she had left. You're little sister let the cat out of the bag. What did she mean by that? I asked myself.
"You okay?"
Great, just the person I wanted to see…
"I'm fine." I said walking to my next class.
"Filía come on. Can we talk?" Arron asked following behind me.
"Talk about what? What do we possible have to talk about?"
"You and your," He paused grabbing my arm, forcing me to face him, "Social life?"
"I-I don't know what-"
"Don't play dumb with me. It's not attractive." He whispered.
The bell rang but he was not letting go. He was determined to change my mind, it was written all over his face.
"You have 45 minutes."
"The Ball, were you with him?" He asked releasing my arm.
"I wasn't lying when I said that a drink spilt on my dress."
"Why would you risk getting kicked out of school for a secret relationship?"
"Why do you care?"
He kissed me, forced me against the wall… I couldn't free myself.
"Shouldn't the two of you be in class?"
Arron finally backed off and I was able to catch my breath, but I wasn't paying attention to who was standing in front of us.
"Don't you have a class to teach?" Arron shot back.
"Arron, have some respect…" I started to say.
"I expect to see you both in detention." He glared at us both.
"Yes sir." Arron started walking away, "Zedekiah."
We stood in the hallway in silence. I didn't know what to say… I didn't know how to justify myself… Not that he would believe me. I can only imagine how he feels…
"Why?" He asked not looking at me.
"It's not what it looked like."
"You seemed to enjoy it." He started to walk off, "Maybe you should have stayed in your room."
"Zed." He stopped looking over his shoulder, "I love you. I wouldn't do anything to hurt you." I said keeping the tears from falling.
He nodded his head and continued to walk away. The rest of the morning seemed to go on forever and when it came time for detention… Well, detention was uncomfortable. The rest of the day, however, picked up. When Nessa and I got back to our room there was a small package sitting on my bed it had to have been from Glinda.
"It's from Mom." Ness confirmed, getting to my bed first.
I opened to package and a small ruby glass slid out. What in the name of Oz? I thought. Then I glanced in the package again, there was a note and a book. I took it out the note and immediately knew that is wasn't Glinda's handwriting. None of it was Glinda's handwriting.
Dear Filía,
When times are rough, look into the lens and may you find what you're looking for.
The book, may you believe the truth about my life… May you know that I wasn't all that Wicked. I pray that you make your own future and not follow mine.
Your,
Mother
"She gave you a glass lens that might fix your problems?" Ness scoffed reading over my shoulder, "And how is a book going to tell you the truth about her?"
"I don't think it's supposed to fix them Ness, I think it might help me understand them." I said looking at the lens deeply then I pulled out the book, only it wasn't just a book. It was my mother's diary, "I think a diary is a better way to find out who she really was."
"It's a lens Filía. There's nothing special about it, and a diary? That could be full of lies."
"It was my mothers, wasn't it? This isn't just a regular old lens, this is something bigger, and her diary, I don't think she was planning on having a child during her "wicked" years, do you?"
"Whatever you say." She said going into the bathroom probably to reapply her face.
I opening the diary and began to read:
They called me wicked. They said I'd never change…
All my earthly years I'd always be the same old wicked witch…
But I know something great lies deep within my heart…
Yet no one sees… Or dares to search…
To them you see… I'd always be…
The wicked… Witch…
"Filía," Nessa said interrupting my reading, "What are you doing?" Her voice trembled.
"What are you talking… Oh." I turned to look at her but my feet were a few inches from the ground, "I'm defying gravity." I grinned as I dropped to the ground.
"I wouldn't exactly qualify that as good." Nessa said.
"Why not, I wouldn't need a broom."
"That doesn't mean it's a good thing."
"What happened to your sense of adventure?" I asked putting the diary in my bag and walking to the door, "I'm going to the library. I'll be back before curfew."
"Don't you mean Zedekiah's house?" I could hear Nessa whisper as I closed the door.
She was right. I did go to Zedekiah's house because I figured that now was the best time for him to know. Since he already hates me… So why not just confirm it.
-Zedekiah's House-
"What?" Zedekiah asked, "You're the daughter of THE Wicked Witch? You're serious?"
"Do I look like I'm kidding?"
"Is this supposed to change my mind about early?"
"Are you always like this when your heart broken?"
"So you did intend that to happen." He said not at all amused, "Which means you really are trying for get me back. Are you really that desperate?"
"Should I tell you what you want to hear or tell you the truth and you still won't believe me."
"Whatever makes you happy Princess."
"I'm not a Princess." I grunted.
"You could have fooled me." He scoffed.
"It's like dealing with a child! Why do you have to be so stubborn?" He started to laugh. I haven't the slightest idea on what could be funny, "I'm sorry but did I miss something?"
"Marry me?" He mumbled.
"Zedekiah... I don't understand... We were just-"
"Despite what I saw, you cried trying to get to believe you." He took my hand, "Marry me." He whispered against my neck.
"I didn't cry, and I can't. We-" I said.
"Try and change my mind. 'Cause I guarantee you, you won't." He said, "I love you."
"I can't."
"Think about it." He said.
"I should go. I told Nessa I'd get back." I said grabbing my bag.
"Promise me you'll think about?"
"I promise." I said, carefully walking out the door.
I was on my way back to the room when Liir caught up with me, handing me a letter with something in it.
"What is this?" I asked.
"Something that I want you to hold on to, until I'm ready… I can't… I can't look at it anymore."
"Liir, what's in it? Who is it for?" I asked examining the letter.
"It's for Nessa. Before her attack we were getting to know each other than Quillam showed up out of nowhere and she forgot about me." He said wiping a tear from his eye.
"I'm so sorry."
"It's a ring." He continued, "I was going to give it to her as a start to a new chapter. Quillam isn't right for her." He stiffened up.
"I can't change her mind." I said putting the letter in my bag, "But it's safe with me."
"Filía, she isn't safe. Quillam isn't… He isn't…"
"Spit it out."
"He's not who he says he is." Liir said.
"What are you talking about? Who is he?"
"I don't know but… He… He's here for you."
"Wait- What! Why does he want me?"
"I don't know."
"Okay. Keep me posted, but I do have to go." I said once I hit the entrance to the girls' dorm.
"I'll do what I can, and um- Thanks."
"You're welcome."
So... Whatcha think? Leave a review, I have missed you people! XD
