Hey guys, its me. I'm so sorry that this took forever. I guess you could say my head was going crazy in finishing this chapter. I'll tell you this because I want to be honest. I will be like this for a while, posting chapters a couple weeks or months after the last update, and I'm sorry about that. Its just life now is giving me some obstacles, and I'm trying to conquer them as life goes on. Also, I saw that you guys love this story, and for that I'm grateful. That tells me that people really want to see this story go on, and I will. It just will take a while, so please hang in there.

Also, comments are great, but only if its related to the story. I don't want personal questions on this. I'm not mad, or pointing the finger at anybody, I just feel I don't want the whole world seeing it through fanfiction.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter, and keep one reading! :)

Down in the rookery, the four gargoyles and beast were shaking the last of their stone skin and stretching, oblivious at what was going on outside.

The red one stretched his arms and wings, then turned to the female who was stretching her arms and deep blue wings.

"Hey," the red one spoke. "How are you feeling?"

The female turned to him with her small fangs showing through her smile. "I'm alright now, thank you." She shrugged, flexing her still stiff wings. "Guess stone sleep always helps."

"Yeah, it does." He replied as he gazed at her. He wasn't sure why, but from the eerie grow of the rookery, the female seems different to him. Not because the pale green glow sort of made her blue skin shine in the dark rookery, or how her hair was so soft under his claws from rubbing her back last night, but because she felt different in his arms. By different, she wasn't her usual cheerful or puts on a tough face if danger approaches, but she actually broke down in his arms. It was kind of rare for the red one to see her like that, but he didn't complain about it. He seemed to like being near her like that because he knew she would need someone to comfort her in bad times.

"You think Goliath has come back yet?" the aqua one asked making the red one stop thinking.

"I don't know," the female replied looking up where they entered last night. She turned to the trio. "He didn't say when he was coming back."

Just then, a loud anguish cry was heard. It made everyone jump and look up at the entrance.

"That sounded like Goliath," the female stated and ran up the stairs with quick feet. The trio and beast were following her up.

When the female unlocked the rookery, she and the others came out looking at what was in front of them, and it wasn't good. Everyone was taking in the damage and destruction before them, gasping in horror, and seeing where their clanmates once stood were now piles of rubble. The female gasped with her claw over her mouth looking at the once peaceful courtyard that now looked like a war zone.

"What happened…?" the female breathed as she saw the rubble of her brethren by her feet.

Everyone turned to Goliath who landed in front of them. Goliath turned to the trio and female with a desperate look.

"Were any more down in the rookery?" he asked desperately.

"None," the aqua one replied with a grief. "Only us…"

"All the humans are gone," everyone turned to the old one who spoke. "Taken prisoner most likely."

"Then we will find them," Goliath growled, his eyes glowing like two bright flames as he turned. "We'll save the humans, and we will have our revenge!"

With that in mind, Goliath was the first to take flight as he took charge with everyone following him. As the gargoyles were gliding, the beast was running out of the castle following them with a snarl.

As they were gliding, the female turned back to the castle with a look of worry. From what's going on, to seeing the castle getting smaller and smaller as they glided away, she was worried about the eggs in the rookery if the Vikings come back if they were unsuccessful in defeating them. But if Goliath didn't ask any of her clan mates to stay and watch them, she knew not to say anything.

She felt her claw being squeezed by someone to her right. She turned as the red one held her hand and gave her a gentle squeeze, which she returned to him with a small smile. Knowing he was trying to comfort her as best as he can, and she was grateful.

She wasn't sure, but she felt that this will be the last she was to see of her home of Castle Wyvern.

At the Vikings camp, a victory celebration was happening after taking over Wyvern. A roast pig was roasting over the fire, and the Vikings were talking about their well deserved victory. Spirits weren't bright with the prisoners, who were huddled together as a few Vikings were watching them like they were livestock.

Tom, the little boy who tried to befriend the gargoyles looked down at his mother who was weeping in her hands. He placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"My friends the gargoyles will come mother." He whispered.

"Nay," his mother shook her head. "The gargoyles were destroyed Tom…" she wept as Tom looked away.

Up in Hakon's cave, the princess and Magus were tied as they were glaring at both the Viking Leader and the once Captain of the Guard.

Hakon sneered. "Hmm. The magus is worth alive than dead. Barely."

"True," the captain agreed as he knelt to the princess, in which she leaned back with a glare. "But I'm sure your uncle, the king, will pay handsomely to see his niece returned alive."

"You blackguard!" the Magus exclaimed. "If I had my book of spells, I'd-" the Magus's threat was interrupted by Hakon's hard laugh.

"Might you be referring to this book Magus?" He asked as he brought out a thick book on his lap. "Magic spells? Ha! Makes me glad I can't read." He then tears out a page and burns it over a fire.

"No! My spells!" the Magus cried. He slumped in his binds as the Viking kept tearing pages.

"Oh, traitor!" the princess barked. "I'll see you both hang for this!"

Hakon stopped tearing pages and looked up at the princess with a warning glare. He closed the book in a thud and stood up as the Captain moved out of his way.

"Do not vex me princess," he warned. "Or it's your neck." The princess gave a hard glare at him.

Just then, a roar was heard out of the cave, and the Vikings were exclaiming in fear. Hakon ran out first with the Captain following out to the mouth of the cave. They saw the Vikings running away in fear down below.

"Look out, run for your lives!" they exclaimed as both looked up in shock.

There, up in the sky were six live gargoyles diving down at them like birds of prey.

Hakon was wide eyed as he turned to the Captain with a glare. "You said they wouldn't follow us!"

"If you hadn't destroyed the others!" the Captain countered.

Hakon gritted his teeth as he pushed the Captain away and took a hold of the princess who was struggling. "Your precious gargoyles have come princess."

The princess stopped struggling and turned to him. "The gargoyles?" she then looked at him with a death glare. "You're a dead man Hakon."

"Maybe," he agrees as he draws out a dagger. "But not before you."

The princess gasped and struggled in Hakon's grip.

"Let her go!" the Magus demanded then looked at Katherine with worry. "Princess!"

The princess breaks out of Hakon's grip by pushing him hard and ran off as Hakon and Captain followed in pursuit.

"Help! Somebody help!" the Magus exclaimed. "He's going to slay her! Princess!" He then stopped, then looked behind him, found a sharp rock, and began to break his restraints.

Battle waged on as the gargoyles landed in the Vikings camp. Goliath flew on ahead when he took notice of his betrayer running off with his enemy and someone else toward the cliffs.

When the old one landed, a Viking lifted his sword to bring it down on the gargoyle, but the old one was too fast as he lifted the Viking over him to a cart load of hay. Another Viking went onto him, but he missed and was thrown in a different direction.

At another part, the aqua pulled out the roast pig and used it as a weapon. He dodged a sword then smacked his attacker with the pig like a golf club.

The female snarled as she dodged a few swords and smacked them away with her tail. When a Viking got too close, she took the Viking's sword away, lifted him off the ground with her inhumane strength, and threw him a few feet away.

Some Vikings tried to escape from the madness but were out of luck. They stopped with frightful looks as they were blocked by the gargoyle beast with his glowing white eyes, and his low threatening growl. Pretty soon the beast was chasing the two Vikings in hot pursuit.

The other two males had that same idea as the female when the Vikings got too close to the refugees, they would lift them up over their heads, and threw them a good few feet.

Soon all the Vikings ran away in fear from the gargoyles. The gargoyles stood around one another as they watched the Vikings flee. Behind them, Tom was celebrating their victory along with the other humans.

"I told ya they saved us." Tom said to his mother with a bright smile.

Just as the gargoyles thought the fight was over, the Magus walked out of the cave's mouth with a look of fury and hatred at the so called protectors of the night.

"You fools!" Magus shouted at the gargoyles below him. "She'd be alive now if you hadn't come!"

The gargoyles were confused as they looked up at him. The green one said their thoughts. "What's he talking about?"

The female looked at the Magus with a raised eye ridge behind the green one. "Somethings not right."

Before the others could ask what she meant, the Magus continued his ranting. "They would've ransomed us both, but you invaded their camp and now-"

"What's all this?" the old one asked as he stepped forward. "Where's the princess?"

"Dead," he answered as he turned a few pages until he found what he was looking for. "And could I but wield a sword I would send you all to join her, but this will have to do instead." He pointed in the book, and then started chanting in a language no one could understand.

Dormiatis dum castellum

Super nubes ascendat

As the Magus chanted the spell, the gargoyles were surrounded by mists of wind and strange magic. They were looking at the mist with both fear and curiosity. They didn't know what was going on as their bodies were somehow moving at freewill. There muscles were becoming more stiff-like, and suddenly in a flash…

They were stone beings at night.

After saving the princess and witnessing the demise of his enemy and once close friend, Goliath rushed back to the other gargoyles after Tom came to him saying his friends were in trouble. When he arrived, he was in utter shock in seeing his clan nothing but stone statues.

"Stone…At night…" Goliath whispered, then became angry. "What sorcery is this?"

"Sorcery indeed," Goliath turned to the Magus who still had his anger and bitterness. He opened his book once more. "And now you shall join them." Just as he was going to cast the spell, Princess Katherine took a step forward behind Goliath, looking at the stone gargoyles with a small frown.

"Princess…" the Magus whispered with disbelief, not sure if the princess was really standing before him.

"Oh Magus," the princess turned to him with her voice soft and full of sorrow. "What have you done?"

The magus dropped his book where the ripped pages were as he fell to his knees, he looked down with disbelief. "I…I thought you were dead your highness," he looked up at her. "I was mad with grief."

Goliath growled, then he stomped forward grabbing the sorcerer by the back of his robes. "Reverse the spell," he then screamed at his face. "BRING THEM BACK!"

"I-I cannot! The page with the counter spell was burnt!" The magus looked down at the book as Goliath followed, then the gargoyle dropped the man on top of the book like a ragdoll.

The once leader of his clan looked sadly at the last of his clan. He especially looked at the female who stood between the red one and old one in her fierce pose. He gently caressed her stone face with a look of hurt as if loosing his own child.

Goliath gave a long deep sigh of loneliness, "Now I'm truly alone…"

The princess sadly looked from Goliath, to the Magus who didn't move from his spot. "Ye turned them to stone forever?"

The Magus merely shook his head. "The terms of the spell were they will sleep…Until the castle rises above the clouds."

Both humans looked to Goliath and the gargoyles who were incased in stone. A long silence flowed to the group as the night was still young.

They returned to the castle that became like a waist land. Up at the tallest tower, Princess Katherine and the Magus were watching Goliath as he placed each of the statues on their perch.

"We've done ye a great wrong, Goliath." The princess said in a low voice.

Goliath didn't say anything as he made sure that the old one's statue was steady on the perch. He turned behind as the Magus spoke.

"I know that no apology can be enough Goliath. I wish there were something I could do."

Goliath merely looked over his shoulder. "What will you do now princess?"

"I will take my people to my uncles," she answered. "It's no longer safe for us here."

"I have a request," the leader added as he capped his wings.

"Ye have but to name it."

"The eggs in the rookery will soon hatch," Goliath turned to them over his shoulder. "They will need guidance."

The princess nodded with a smile. "Never fear, we will watch over them as if they were our own."

Goliath nodded, then he turned toward the Magus. "There is something you can do for me Magus," he paused then answered. "Cast your spell one more time."

Both Magus and the princess looked at the leader with shock, but from Goliath's face he was being serious. Later, at the very top of the tallest tower, just above the rest of the sleeping gargoyles, Goliath was also incased in stone sleep.

1000 years later… Manhattan New York, 1994

The once proud Castle Wyvern stood in ruins in Scotland for a thousand years. David Xanatos, a proud businessman and millionaire bought the entire castle, even though he heard from the locals it was known to be haunted. Even with those in mind, the man merely told his colleague Owen, "Pay a man enough, and he'll walk right barefoot into hell."

It took many weeks, months even for the castle to be reconstructed on top of Xanatos building, the Eyrie Building. Now in Manhattan, the castle was complete, and Xanatos was standing behind the larger gargoyle on the tallest tower. As the sun was setting, clouds were forming above them, and Xanatos looked at the statue with a frown.

"Don't disappoint me." He whispered.

When the last of the sun's rays disappeared on the horizon, storm clouds surrounded all around the castle and the building. Lightning, heavy rain, and thunder fell around them. Xanatos held his coat around him as the rain was pouring hard and the lightning flashing here and there. Suddenly, the sound of cracking was heard in front of him. The man gasped with a wide eyed looked as the stone exploded around the statue to reveal a real breathing gargoyle in its place.

The reawakening of the once great Goliath was happening as the leader slowly rose from his hunched position and gave a mighty roar that sort of outdid the storm. Down below him, each of the six gargoyles were awakening as well with loud roar like yawns, their eyes ablaze like bright torches, and stretching their limbs and wings.

"Yes!" Xanatos said to himself as he didn't know this would actually happen.

Goliath jumped down to the other gargoyles who just surround themselves. "You're awake?!" Goliath started as he looked at his clan. "You're alive! We're together again!"

Everyone cheered as each of the gargoyles either embraced one another, or merely cheered.

The red one embraced the female with a loud laugh as the female laughed a happy chuckle as she was spun around by him. When they stopped, both of them blushed out of embarrassment and looked away with a chuckle.

The green one slammed himself to the gargoyle beast as he hugged the beast with a laugh. Suddenly, the clouds began to disperse as the green looked down with a gawked expression. "Whoa," All the other gargoyles turned to the green one and looked down below with him. They were in shock.

Down below them was not the land of Scotland, but an alien world of tall buildings of glass, bright lights that shine through the night, and loud new sounds the gargoyles have never heard before.

As they were gazing down with confusion, the old exclaimed with shock. "What's this?! Where are we?!"

The female looked down at the unknown world with the same expression as the old one, but mostly curious and confused. For some strange reason, this was new to her like how the others were feeling, but seems familiar to her? She doesn't know why its familiar, probably from the many dreams she had when she was in stone sleep. That reminds her, she was curious how long she and her clan were asleep?

Just then, the gargoyle beast got tense and barked behind the clan. Footsteps were heard, and the clan turned around and out stepped Mr. Xanatos with a smile.

"You are the one called Goliath?" He asked the leader.

"Yes…?" the leader answered cautiously as the others got tense.

"Excellent."

All the gargoyles stood in what looked like the dining hall, but was painted in white walls, and the floor was a different color. Everyone watched as Goliath started.

"How long has it been?"

"This may be a shock," Xanatos started as he leaned to the fireplace behind him. "A thousand years have gone by since the spell's been cast."

The gargoyles expressions went into shock, sadness, and several emotions that went in their heads.

"I learned about the castle and you seven from an ancient book that recently came into my possession." Xanatos continued as he gestured to the Magus's book in a small glass case. "The Magus who cursed you wrote the whole story down in there. Now, I'm sure you have questions."

The elder one spoke up. "How did you break the spell?"

"It was designed to end when the castle rose above the clouds." The man answered as he stood behind a table.

The green gargoyle gasped as if he remembered something. "The eggs in the rookery?"

Xanatos looked down. "Gone, I'm afraid. You are the last of your kind."

That made everyone slump at this with looks of defeat. The female covered her mouth and looked away as she wrapped her wings around herself wanting no one to see her. She looked back as Goliath spoke.

"Why have you done all this?" he asked, completely confused why a stranger would want to wake up seven gargoyles and know that they were real living creatures.

"I was fascinated by the Magus's story; I wanted to see if it was true." He straightened himself from the table he was at. "And now that I know it is, I want to be your friend." He went over to the lead gargoyle as he put a hand on his shoulder. "There is much we could do for each other Goliath."

Goliath narrowed his eyes at the man's touch, then looked down at him with a reply that he didn't trust him at all. "Such as…?"

"Well we-" Xanatos was cut off by the sound of a helicopter, which made him confused. "I'm not expecting anyone. You'll be safer if you stay here." With that, he left to check what was going on outside.

The gargoyles looked at each other with narrowed looks, then they followed Xanatos.

Xanatos walked to the center of the courtyard as a large helicopter showed its bright lights on him. The side doors opened, and long ropes came out with five armed guards coming down the battlements. They wore dark and gray armor with red lenses on their helmets. Four were guys and one was female, all aiming their large guns at the millionaire.

"Secure the area." The lead gunman ordered as they all spread out to surround Xanatos.

"What do you want?" asked Xanatos with narrowed eyes.

"You'll know soon enough." One of the gunman's stated as they aimed their guns at the man.

Over at the doorway, the gargoyles were standing in the darkness watching the scene with confused looks.

"What's going on?" the red one asked then turned to Goliath. "Who are these people?"

"Whoever they are, they don't look very friendly." The female stated as she narrowed her eyes and tightened her fists.

"They're attacking the castle!" The old one exclaimed. "That's all we need to know!"

Goliath let out an angry snarl as he the rest of the clan leapt out of the shadows.

"What the-" The gunmen were caught off guard by the gargoyles but recovered and began open firing. Even with their high tech guns, they were outmatched by the speed and ferocity of the Gargoyles.

Goliath was able to dodge most of their firing as he tossed his attacker away like a ragdoll. Only the man's training allowed him to regain his footing and continued firing at the large gargoyle. Xanatos quickly came to Goliath's aid by knocking the gun out of the man's hands and tossing him over his shoulder. Another gunman went to intercept Xanatos but was quickly subdued by the aqua gargoyle.

"Nice mask," the gunman said, which made the gargoyle growl with anger.

At another part of the courtyard, the older gargoyle was fending off another gunman with his small sword but was having a hard time. The gunman pulled out a stun gun, which shocked the gargoyle, bringing him to his knees. The red one swooped down behind the old ones attacker and hoisting him in the air.

"Leave him alone!" he cried as he tossed the attacker across the courtyard.

The old one was being helped to his feet by the aqua one, the green one, the female, and the red one. The old one groaned as they were supporting him.

"Are you alright?" the female whispered as she supported him under his arm.

The old one nodded as he slowly but surly got his feet. Unbeknownst to them, the attacker regained his footing and took out a grenade. He pulled out the pin and lobbed it at the gargoyles. The green one caught it with no fear as he inspected ir, then tossed it away in not knowing the danger.

Suddenly, a large explosion shook the ground, sending the five of them flying forward on the courtyard. When they landed, the female coughed and tried getting air back into her lungs as she tried to get back on her feet. She was helped up by the red one in which she gave a nod and a smile as they jumped back into the fray.

Xanatos ran to a secret panel in the castle walls and grabbed a large gun. He saw Goliath facing one of the attackers and fired his gun at the wall behind the man. The attacker didn't have time to move as the wall collapsed on top of him, burying him in rubble. Goliath turned to Xanatos, who merely smirked and aimed his gun at another attacker.

Over at another area, the green one was cornering the only female gunman. "Are you a Viking?" the gunman didn't answer as she fired her gun, making the gargoyle dive off the castle and hide in the clouds. The woman didn't see him come out until he glided back up and tackled her to the ground.

Goliath was standing up on top of the stairs to the top battlements with the old one inspecting the new weapons.

"These weapons…" the old one stated with shock. "We must be battling sorcerers."

"Even so," Goliath answered. "We will protect this castle, it's all we have left!"

A female attacker lobbed a grenade at the two gargoyles, who jumped out of the way.

The female gargoyle was dodging one of the gunmen who was firing his gun at her. She snarled as she used her tail to knock the gun out of the man's grasp, but the man took out a dagger and tried to slash at her. Man, this human is not giving up! She thought as she did a back flip to dodge and spun down to the ground tripping the man on his ankles and was knocked unconscious.

"Well," she sighed as she clapped her hands together. "That went well."

"Look out!"

"Huh?" Before she could dodge, a figure slammed into her and they were on the ground in a thud, and the sound of lasers echoed in the background.

The female groaned as she was laid on her back with someone on top of her. She opened her eyes and saw the red one on top of her looking at her with a wide eyed look. She felt her cheeks rise at how close they were to one another, especially with his beak really close to her lips. She shook it off as she looked at him with a frown.

"Why'd you slam into me?" the female grunted.

"Hey, you would be dead if I didn't save your life from those weird weapons." the red one replied, shaking out of his stare-like state, and slowly lifted himself up.

She scoffed as she crossed her arms. "I don't need saving but thank you anyway." She took his claw as he helped her to her feet.

There break soon ended as another gunman tried to hurt the two gargoyles with a large dagger. Xanatos, who saw them in trouble, pointed his gun at them.

"Time to take the gloves off." He stated, but he was tackled by another gunman, and his laser hit the side of the castle instead of the initial target.

There was another explosion, which caused the gargoyles to go through it for fresh air, and one of the gunmen was being chased by the gargoyle beast. Goliath looked over at the staircase he was on and one of the gunmen threw another grenade at him, which send him flying over the edge. He tried to catch himself with a flagpole, but it broke underweight, and he was falling at great speed. With no other option, he dug his claws into the building's side as they screeched like the sound of nails on a chalkboard. When he finally stopped, he breathed a sigh of relief that he was able catch himself.

Back up in the castle, one of the gunmen went into a room, and passed security with a strange device that override the controls. He soon entered the dark room, looking for something in particular.

Outside, the green one was fighting one of the gunmen, but was having a hard time as he was suddenly pinned down. "Gotcha!" the man praised as the green one struggled.

Goliath, who came back up, heard the green ones pleas and tackled the gunman off of him. The large gargoyle held the man up to his face ready to hurt him until another one threw a smoke bomb, and two of the gunmen rescued the one that was in Goliath's clutches.

The gunman who went inside the castle, came out with a briefcase in his arms and held it in the air to show his comrades. "GOT IT!"

The other gunman shot a flare up into the sky in which brightened the whole sky like the sun. The helicopter came back, all the gunmen boarded in, and the one with the briefcase rushed them in. "Lets go, we got what we came for."

Xanatos looked over the ledge he was at and aimed his gun at the helicopter. "I don't think so." Just as he was about to fire, one of the gunmen shot a throwing star at him, causing him to drop his gun, and the helicopter got away safely.

The gargoyles all came behind him watching the helicopter disappear into the night.

"I've never seen such weaponry before," the red one started. He then turned to the green one and female who were on his right. "And that flying creature that carried them off."

"A dragon without a doubt," the old one stated.

The green one stepped forward. "It wasn't a dragon, it was a…a machine of some sort."

"Whatever it is," the female said crossing her arms. "We need to be more careful in this new world we're in now. This battle was not like the ones we had back in Scotland."

That made the other gargoyles nod at her as Xanatos came over to the clan, especially Goliath. "Thank you, without you and your friends who knows what those thugs would've done."

"Someone I once trusted said the same thing," Goliath remarked with a frown. "And then destroyed my people."

"Hmm, I can see I'll have to work hard to earn your trust."

Goliath just growled at the man who didn't really pay any attention. Xanatos merely took out his cell phone and pushed some numbers. "Owen, we'll need a clean up crew outside."

"Why were you attacked?" Goliath asked.

"The richer you are the more enemies you have." The man explained as he put his cell phone away. "And I'm very rich." He walked toward him. "Goliath, this is your home as well as my headquarters. I hope you'll considered working with me to keep it safe."

Goliath looked around the castle he once called home a thousand years ago, then to the sky in what is going on right now.

"It's your decision lad," the old said as he placed a hand on his leader's shoulder. "But we've no where else to go."

Goliath sighed deeply; he made his decision. "This castle is our home no matter where it has been taken. We will stay here."

"Excellent," Xanatos said talking the gargoyles claw, even knowing that the gargoyle doesn't trust him. "I know you've been used poorly by men in the past, but all that is about to change. Trust me."

"You broke the spell of sleep that imprisoned us Xanatos, and for that we are grateful," then Goliath's face became hard. "But we will never trust humans again."

"I can tell this relationship is something we'll all have to work at."

Goliath made a growl-like release of breath to Xanatos's statement.

Down below the Eyrie Building, damage became horrendous for the people of Manhattan as stone fell down, destroying anything like cars, fire hydrants, and made dents on the street. Policemen barricaded the mob of people who wanted to see the wreckage.

As the police were keeping the people calm, a female detective was looking up at building with a determined look. He knew what is going on right now is not a mere accident.

"What do you think that was all about detective?" asked a black officer.

"I don't know," the female detective answered, then she looked back up. "But I'm going to fine out."
