Back in Medieval Scotland, Castle Wyvern was known for its many battles, and its many victories by the gargoyles. Now that the clan had been vanquished by betrayal, the remaining seven gargoyles of the Wyvern Clan are now living in the modern times of Manhattan and seem to be handling it well.
In the kitchen, Broadway stood at the kitchen stove, making dinner for the whole clan. He took a taste of the stew by the ladle as he sighed with content of the exquisite taste.
Over at the TV room, Hudson was watching a cartoon that starred Donald Duck. As the older gargoyle was watching the duck struggling in what looked like glue, Bronx was busy chewing on a thick bone that was given to him earlier.
In the main hall, Lexington and Brooklyn were on both sides of the table playing a game of poker while Chelsea was in the middle reading a novel. As the two males were playing, the female would look over at both of them to see if anything is happening. After checking their cards, Lexington showed his cards in which all are aces, making Brooklyn grumble in defeat. The female softly chuckled behind her book, making the hothead turn to her with a narrowed look and his wings unfurled.
Over at the library, Goliath sat on top of a ladder, reading a large book in his claws. As he read, the moon's glow from the ceiling was used as his natural light in the endless void of rows upon rows of books.
Not too far away, in a prison cell on Ellis Island, Xanatos was laying his back down on his bed looking at the calendar that was hanging above him. On the last day in October, he would be released, but that wouldn't happen in a week. He knew he had to be patient…
The next morning, Xanatos sat with two other prisoners, enjoying his so-called meal. "Just like mom used to made," he stared at it with a bitter look. "If mom was a prison cook."
Later, he was scheduled with a visit from Owen in a visitation room where a piece of glass separates them but are able to talk casually.
"All in all," Xanatos commented through the speaker. "I would say my stay has been a learning experience."
"One more week and you're free," Owen added. "You've never said what you want done about the Gargoyles. It would be easy to destroy them during the day."
Xanatos thought about what Owen was saying. "I suppose, but it seems like such a waste. Still I…I can't have them underfoot when I get home."
Just as he said that the visiting room suddenly open to reveal an older prison guard along with their guessing a light grayish-blue Siberian husky. The guard was tall and had a muscular frame for his age and silver-gray hair. Owen and Xanatos turned to the guard and dog with confusion.
"I believe I still have 10 minutes left?" Owen asked checking his watch.
"Take all the time you want." The guard replied in a think Scottish accent. He looked the millionaire. "I'm here with a proposition for Mr. Xanatos."
"I'm listening." He announced.
As the guard took a seat in a rolling chair, the husky sat on his haunches next to the man, not leaving his sight on both men.
"I understand you have a small…infestation."
Xanatos looked at the man in confusion. "I don't recall phoning pest control."
"Me and my pet are familiar with the nature of these…pests." Just as the guard said that the dog gave a low rumble in which the two men looked down at it with bulged eyes, not expecting the dog's reaction. They looked back up at the guard as he finished. "And for a price, I'll take them off your hands."
"I see," Xanatos gave a look of thought. "How would you go about this Mr.…"
"They call me…" the guard smirked. "Macbeth."
It was not long until nightfall as the sky had long since turned into an orange glow and the sun halfway toward the depths of the earth. At Castle Wyvern, the gargoyles were still in their stone sleep, each depicting a ferocious beast guarding their ancestral home.
Coming up the stairs were Macbeth and his dog who had not left his side since meeting with Xanatos. The dog looked up at his master with a somewhat anxious look and giving out a whine.
Macbeth looked down at his companion. "Don't worry old friend," he whispered as he pets the dog's head. "This won't be like last time…"
"Hey!"
Macbeth stood straight as he and his pet turned. They saw Elisa hobbling up the stairs with crunches, looking at them with a narrowed look.
"What are you doing here?" she demanded.
"I'd hate to spoil the surprise by telling you, milady." The man answered taking a bow.
"I hate surprises," Elisa retorted showing her badge to him. "Now who are you?"
"I'm called Macbeth."
Elisa looked at the horizon, seeing that it was mere centimeters away from nightfall. She turned back to the man. "Let's step inside and discuss this."
"You protect no secrets, madam. Me and my pet know all about these creatures." The husky rumbled as he looked at one of the statues, Chelsea to be exact.
Elisa gave out a worried look as the sun disappeared. The moment it did, each of the stone statues started to crack. Soon their stone encasings exploded as the seven gargoyles stretched and howled toward the night. After waking up, they somehow felt another presence behind them beside Elisa. They all turned, looking at the two new strangers in a hostile manner.
"Elisa," Lexington started, breaking the ice of silence. "Whose your friend?"
"You okay Elisa?" Broadway asked, jumping off his perch. "This guy bothering ya?
Bronx came forward, then gave a warning growl as if something is not right. The husky moved forward in front of his master, giving a rumble toward the beast. Bronx must have taken that as an offense as he stepped forward in a snarl. He would have come closer if not for Chelsea's reflexes.
"Bronx no, stay down." She ordered, taking hold of the beast by his shoulders, in which the beast reluctantly answered by standing his ground not ignoring the husky who was glaring back at him.
"I'm here to offer an invitation," Macbeth started as he looked at everyone, especially their leader. "Leave this drafty castle. Be guests at my home."
Goliath gave rumble as he narrowed his eyes. "I'm afraid we must refuse."
"And I'm afraid I must insist." The man insisted, in which he revealed two guns on his waist. "I've not stooped so low to attack you while you slept, but now…"
Elisa instinctively took a step back from Macbeth to behind Broadway, not liking how this is going.
The potbelly must have sensed her tenseness, as he took a step forward toward the man. "I don't like your attitude, I think you better leave."
Unexpectedly, Macbeth grabbed Broadways' wrist, tossing toward Hudson. The two males fell of the tower and into the courtyard below, knocking them out easily. The husky jumped out of the way as Macbeth unleashed several gas bombs, which exploded purple gas that subdued the gargoyles as they coughed.
Macbeth put on special glasses to see everything around him through the smoke. He noticed the gargoyle beast wasn't with the other gargoyles as he turned behind him. Bronx snarled, wanting to take on the man, but was short-lived when the husky intercepted by slamming the gargoyle toward Lexington. The man used his chance to fire an electric net at the two gargoyles, who exclaimed in agonizing pain.
As the smoke diminished, Elisa brought out her gun while Goliath went to attack the unwanted guest. Macbeth jumped from Goliath's reach and kicked Brooklyn off the tower.
"Brooklyn!" Chelsea exclaimed still coughing out the gas. She grunted as she saw the husky ram right at her, and they both fell off the tower.
As the female fell flat on the ground beside the red gargoyle, the husky landed on his feet with agile reflexes and stood beside Macbeth.
"Good boy," Macbeth praised as he aimed his gun at the two gargoyles. When Brooklyn and Chelsea were on their feet, the man fired his gun, encasing them in an electric net, knocking them unconscious.
Back up the tower, as Elisa hobbled down the steps, Goliath jumped off the tower, diving down toward Macbeth. The husky barked up at Goliath as Macbeth fired his gun. The leader dodged the fire, but got caught in the explosion, and fell to the ground in a grunt.
As the gargoyle slowly got to his feet, Macbeth did a jump kick at the gargoyle, making him slam toward an electric generator and bursting it into flames.
"Mr. Macbeth," Owen came out of the castle looking displeased at the castle grounds smoldered with rubble and smoke. "Mr. Xanatos hired you to fumigate his castle, not destroy it."
Macbeth turned to the man, taking off his goggles in the process. "Quite right," he turned to the gargoyle who was still on the ground. "We'll continue this elsewhere." He turned to his dog who was sniffing the unconscious female. "Findlaech."
Findlaech, the husky, instantly took his master's side as Macbeth took out a remote control and whined the controls. He looked up, and a hook and chain came down picking up unconscious Brooklyn and Chelsea.
Goliath groaned, seeing Macbeth and his dog running up the stairs along with members of his clan being put in a large aircraft. The leader grunted from the being beaten but shook it out as he jumped in the air. He landed on the front of the aircraft, trying to break the glass where Macbeth is occupied. The man pressed a button, and the whole ship electrified, sending Goliath back down to the ground where the other clan mates and Elisa were standing.
When the ship flew off, the leader looked down on the ground, a look of defeat edged on his face.
"I don't want to hear it anymore!" Goliath exclaimed with a look of anger.
"You're not safe here," Elisa argued to the stubborn gargoyle. Ever since Xanatos was arrested, the detective was trying to talk to the leader finding a new home for the clan because the millionaire would come back after his time in jail. Even with all the arguing, the leader was so stubborn.
"No, you don't understand." Goliath boomed as he gestured to his surroundings. "We have lost our clan, our world, our time! This castle is all we have left!" He glared down at Elisa. "We will not abandon it!"
"What, you need a castle to fall on you?!" Elisa exclaimed. "Read my lips! Your. Not. Safe here!"
Goliath rumbled a growl, turning away from the detective. Elisa followed.
"What if the next freak job Xanatos hires shows up with a sledgehammer at high noon?!" Elisa continued. She then spoke in a soft tone. "I can't protect you during the day."
Ignoring her, he walked up to Hudson and Broadway who were standing a few feet from him. "I'm going to find them." He stood in front of them, pointing his claw at each of them. "And you two are going to stay there and protect our home!"
Goliath jumped away and quickly scaled the tower. Elisa, Broadway, and Hudson looked on, watching Goliath leave.
When she knew the leader was far away, she shook her head. "Why won't he listen to me? It's obvious you can't stay here!"
"I think Elisa's right." Broadway nodded.
"What you say makes sense," Hudson stated, then he looked down. "But Goliath is our leader." He shook his head. "I cannot go against his wishes."
Elisa turned to the older gargoyle. She took his claw in her own. "Your loyalty is admirable, but he said, 'protect our home'."
Hudson turned the detective, taking her hand. "Aye, that he did."
Elisa continued with a downward look. "Hudson, you and I both know this isn't your home anymore…"
Hudson nodded looking down with a look of guilt. Castle Wyvern, the home he once knew a thousand years ago…is gone.
Over at a different part of the city, across the bay laid a large castle overlooking the cliffside. Inside the castle, it has the comfort of a modern home with medieval antiques hanging on the wall. Over up the steps was a stained glass window with the images of a man looking up at a gargoyle hovering over him.
Down in the lower parts of the castle was a dark, dreary, rat-infested, and moist dungeon-like basement where the four gargoyles were imprisoned. Three out of the four young gargoyles were in a separate cage from the gargoyle beast.
Lexington looked up and saw a couple of water droplets fall on Brooklyn's head in which he was somewhat annoyed about. Chelsea occasionally looked behind to see the stairs where their supposed freedom lied ahead…if they ever get out of their prison.
Breaking the silence Brooklyn spoke to the two gargoyles circling around him. "Who is this…Macbeth anyway?"
"Uh," Lexington spoke in a thoughtful matter. "The name sounds familiar." A second later, revelation sprung to his face. "Wait I remember, Goliath was talking about a play called Macbeth by some new writer named Shakespeare."
"Shakespeare? William Shakespeare?" Chelsea asked raising an eyeridge.
"Yeah," The green gargoyle beamed with impression. "You know him?"
"Sort of," Chelsea shrugged. She brought her claw to her chin, a thoughtful look on her mind. "I think I might have read one of his books, but I don't think it was Macbeth."
Brooklyn looked at the female, then turned to the smaller gargoyle. "Have you read it?"
Lexington shook his head. "No."
"Maybe we should." The hothead thought out loud.
"If we ever get out of here." Chelsea ended with a frown.
At an unknown room, Macbeth was spying on the three imprisoned gargoyles with a smirk plastered on his face. He looked down at his pet who was sitting on his haunches next to him. He gave a pat on the dog's head, in which the dog whined in satisfaction.
"Soon my old friend," Macbeth spoke in a soft tone. He looked back up at the cameras. "She will come for them, and we'll be ready."
The husky turned to his master as a small rumble escaped his throat in which turned to bark, in which the man could do nothing but smirk.
Back at the castle, Hudson Broadway and Elisa were walking down the hall to where a certain spell book was being kept on display.
"Goliath is not going to like this." Hudson thought with a bit of worry.
"He doesn't have to like it." Elisa turned to the elder gargoyle. "He just has to know he has no choice."
"Elisa's right," Broadway added walking on her other side. "We're sitting dorks here."
"Ducks Broadway," Elisa chuckled. "Sitting ducks."
"Come now," Hudson finished as they all stood in front of two large doors. "We can't leave the Grimorum in Xanatos' hands."
The elder gargoyle opened the doors as he led on toward the Grimorum that was still in its glass case. He was about to open the case until Owen stood between him and the ancient book.
"I'm afraid I can't allow this," Owen spoke in a firm tone and hand out in a stop motion. "This book is the property of David Xanatos."
"And whose going to stop us?" Hudson questioned the man. "You?"
Owen took off his glasses, and he only answered… "Indeed." The man swiftly kicked Hudson's feet out from underneath him, causing him to fall on his back.
The assistant pulled out a gun and pointed it at Broadway. "You're trespassing." He then grunted when Elisa threw one of her crutches at the man, making the gun getting knocked out of his hands.
Broadway growled out as he picked up Owen and threw him out of the way. He picked up the gun, crushing it in his claws. Hudson get back on his feet and went to the spell book. He threw the glass away, shattering it into pieces, then picked up the book. As he looked at the book, Broadway helped Elisa by giving her crutch back.
Owen groaned as he slowly got to his feet. He looked over at the group with a frown.
"We'll be going now," Hudson announced looking down at the man, then took his leave with Elisa and Broadway not lagging behind.
Back in the dungeons, everyone was bored out of their minds. Gargoyles were not meant to be locked in cages like animals. They may have some instincts of a top predator, but it does not make them be put behind bars. They prefer their freedom where they can glide and protect their home like who they are meant to be than rot in a cell.
Trying to relieve his boredom, Brooklyn was touching the bars with his claw. Every time he touched the bar, it would shock him and cause the lights above him to dim and go back to normal.
ZAP "Ouch."
As Brooklyn kept shocking himself, Bronx sniffed the bars, then laid down at his cage. Boredom is clearly stated on his face.
Brooklyn touched the bar again and another ZAP happened. "Ouch."
"How many times are you going to try that?" Lexington asked.
"Until you figure out a way to get us out of this." Brooklyn snapped jabbing his claw at the smaller gargoyle. He stood up as he continued touching the bars. ZAP "Ouch." ZAP "Ouch."
Behind them, Chelsea grumbled a few words in annoyance as she covered her ears and scrunched her eyes, but it wasn't really working. Clearly being stuck in the same cage with two other gargoyles was getting on her nerves and ruining her personal space. When Brooklyn did one more touch of the bars, she had enough.
"Will you stop it!" Chelsea exclaimed turning behind him.
Brooklyn jumped, nearly shocking his whole body toward the cage, then turned to the female who gave him a hard icy glare. He gulped, then slouched. "Sorry…" He sat down on the ground. "You know I'm getting tired of this…"
"Oh, you're getting tired…?" Chelsea hissed behind him again, making him gulp one more time.
Lexington, who was looking up the ceiling with a puzzling thought, spoke to the others. "Did either you see how the lights dimmed when Brooklyn touched the bars?"
"No." Chelsea answered bluntly, turning her back away from them.
"Sorry, I was too busy writhing in agony to notice," Brooklyn answered sarcastically rubbing his claws from the constant jolts.
"Hmm," Lexington closely inspected the bars with a thought in mind. "Looks like electrifying these bars takes a lot of power." He turned to the others. "Maybe we can divert enough of electricity to our cage and let Bronx break out of his."
That gained both gargoyles attention as they looked at him.
"Okay, but how?" Brooklyn asked, then realization struck him, and he slouched. "Oh…terrific."
Chelsea looked between him and the bars. She looked at him as she pointed at the bars. "Wait, we have to…" Brooklyn looked behind her, nodding sadly. She rolled her head back and moaned. "Aw man…"
"Get ready," Lexington ordered as all three of them stood up. "Now!"
All three of them grabbed ahold of the bars, grunting in pain as electricity shocked through there systems. Through their grunts in pain, they tried talking to Bronx.
"Go for help Bronx!" Brooklyn grunted.
"Bronx hurry!" Lexington exclaimed.
"Get out of here!" Chelsea shrieked.
As the three held the bars, Bronx looked between them and the bars that were in front of him. Still looking at them with worry, the others kept encouraging him to get out.
"Bronx you can do it!" Chelsea shouted.
"Go get help Bronx!" Brooklyn exclaimed in pain.
"Hurry!" Lexington grunted.
Seeing that they really mean it, Bronx broke through the bars. Even though it was still shocking, it wasn't strong enough to cause so much pain. As soon he was free, the three gargoyles let go and instantly collapsed on the ground, and the beast walked up to them with worry.
Lexington weakly looked up at the beast. "Go…" he slowly brought his claw out. "Get help Bronx…" his hand fell limp as he passed out.
Knowing what he meant, Bronx wasted no time and ran up the stairs to search for help. He burst through the castle main doors and make a beeline into the city.
Unbeknownst to the beast, Macbeth saw the whole ordeal through the camera and slammed his hands on the desk. A look of anger edged on his face. Findlaech stood on his feet and snarled up at the screen.
"No," Macbeth turned to the husky. "Let him go."
The dog looked up at him as he was asking 'why?'. Macbeth smirked. "He'll be back with help…"
That made the husky relax as he laid back down to his haunches.
Up in the skies, Goliath was searching around trying to find any trace of where Macbeth had taken his clan members. Just when he was about to give up, the sound of people screaming, and cars crashing were heard above.
He landed on a rooftop and found what was going on. Down below the city streets was Bronx running down the street, dodging cars and/or trucks that were swerving around him. Goliath glided down to the street and landed in front of the gargoyle beast.
"Bronx," Goliath spoke as a crowd began to form around them. The leader took notice of this, so he got on one knee continued. "Where are Lexington, Chelsea, and Brooklyn?"
Bronx's only answer was he ran off down the street, with Goliath following him. The leader had to jump on a taxi to get airborne and followed the beast to where the others were being kept.
At the castle, Macbeth was watching the cameras with a calm but stern look. By his side, Findlaech was laying by his feet, curled up and resting peacefully. So far, the cameras didn't show the beast returning.
He looked again, and on the outside camera, Goliath's silhouette was being shown along with the beast running on the ground. The man smirked, then went out of the camera room. The husky must have sensed Macbeth's presence leaving as he woke in a yawn and a stretch. Soon the dog was following his master.
Goliath soon landed in front of the castle. He turned behind and saw Bronx coming from behind him and rammed through the doors with the leader following. Goliath's eyes glowed with anger and hatred as they saw who was standing in front of him.
"Don't bother knocking," Macbeth shook his head. "After all, we're old friends."
"Find the others," Goliath ordered the beast, and Bronx took off in an instant to find the young gargoyles.
The leader took a few steps forward, an inhumane growl escaping his lips. He instantly took a step back as Macbeth appointed a gun at him.
"Smart beast," Macbeth noted. "But you'll lose anyway. I defeated in your home, you think I wouldn't be ready for you in my own?"
Macbeth instantly runs off with Goliath not far behind. He entered a stone hallway with its only light were small lamps illuminating on the walls. As Macbeth entered an archway, a wooden door came down blocking Goliath in his path. The leader pounded the door in anger, but it didn't make a dent. His roars echoed around him as he shredded the door.
Down at the basement, the three imprisoned gargoyles could hear Goliath's howls of utter fury, which gave them goosebumps, and a bit of hope.
"Bronx must have found Goliath," Lexington uttered.
"Yeah," Brooklyn nodded.
"He doesn't sound too happy either," Chelsea added with a gulp.
Goliath managed to break down the door as it flew against the wall. The leader stalked down the stairs with anger edged on his face. He went down into another hallway as he continued downward.
Suddenly, a large iron gate fell down in front of him. He leaned in closer to further inspect, only to almost getting electrified by red electricity. He screeched as staggered back away. He turned behind him to see a full suit of armor standing a few feet from him. A plan on his mind, he jumped to the suit of armor, then with a might force he threw toward the iron gate that illuminated and the armor shook with the head stuck.
Goliath soon heard laughter behind him. He turned around that it was none other than Macbeth. The man shot his gun and a large net comes out straight toward the gargoyle. The leader threw a sculpture toward it and got encased in the process.
Macbeth took off again, down the hallway with Goliath not far behind. Again, a large metal gat cut the lavender gargoyle off again. He pound the door with much force that created huge dents. With strength, Goliath tore down the door like it was paper, only to find himself in a room with large brick walls.
Goliath howled again, this time with much force that would outrun a howling thunderstorm with ease. With his growls ceased, he eyed the wall in front of him before storing it down with ease. Pushing away the unwanted stone finish, he found himself in a room full of full-height mirrors.
Walking in slowly, he gazed at the many reflections of his fully muscled appearance, then charged forward when he saw Macbeth's in one mirror. He grunted when he was rebounded off a mirror instead.
"Oh," Goliath turned and saw Macbeth staring down at him in another mirror. "Its not that easy monster."
"Why are you doing this?" Goliath demanded, lifting to his feet. He gazed around him. "Did Xanatos pay you?"
All around him, the reflections of Macbeth snickered. "Aye, I asked him for money." He replied. "If I'd offer to do this for free he'd have been suspicious."
"Then why? We've done you no wrong."
"Its not you, I'm after," the man admitted. "You're just a pawn. I want your queen."
"Queen?" Goliath shook his head in confusion, capping his wings. "We have no queen."
"No? What about Demona?"
The leader narrowed his eyes. "You know Demona?"
Macbeth laughed around him. "Know her?!" He laughed again, this time even louder. "I named her!"
Under Goliath's feet, a trap door appeared, and the leader fell through a dark abyss that was at the deepest part of the castle. As Goliath crashed on the ground panting, Macbeth approached the gargoyle with a single light torch.
"If I capture you," Macbeth explained. "The last of your kind, she will come to free you." His eye widened as he finished. "It's her I want."
Unexpectedly, Goliath did the most inhumane thing, but laugh. The man didn't know what was going on as the gargoyle pointed a talon at the man.
"Then you are a fool!" Goliath laughed. "She is our enemy. She wouldn't lift a talon to save us!"
This sudden shift of information made Macbeth scrunch up in anger. He tossed his torch into an oil-filled vase, which revealed that the room was a medieval dungeon and torture room.
The man quickly turned tail, and Goliath soon cut him off by tackling him and rolling on the ground. The two then started a face-off, then the man took leave with Goliath following. Macbeth lifted a large, spiked table, and tossing it at Goliath. The gargoyle instantly destroyed it, jumped up, and swinging on a gibbet from the ceiling. He swung toward Macbeth, tackling him once more.
When Macbeth worked his way free from the gargoyles clutches, they did a hand to hand combat, dodging and trading punches as they weaved around the dungeon. One punch sends Macbeth right into the oil container, which is tipped over sending the floor ablaze.
Using the flames to his advantage, Macbeth made a break for it, Goliath not far behind. The leader found himself staring in front and iron maiden instead of his new enemy. Thinking this was a ruse, he quickly pried open, revealing an escape route to the other side. He ran through to find a winding staircase leading upwards. He looked up and found Macbeth's shadow already halfway up the staircase.
The leader growled, and quickly gave chase.
Back up at the main part of the castle, Bronx ran down the hallways of the castle, only to find the archway leading to the basement was guarded by Macbeth's loyal dog.
Bronx skidded to a halt on the polished floors, then gave an unholy snarl at Findlaech who was following his movements. Both of them circling each other, watching there every movement. When they stopped circling, they brought their necks down, snarling at each other with utter hatred.
Then, they ran toward each other in a battle cry-like howl.
The howls echoed down toward where the imprisoned gargoyles were kept. They looked over at the only exit with jarred looks.
"Was that Bronx?" Lexington asked.
"It sounds like him," Brooklyn answered with an unsure look. "And Macbeths…dog?"
Chelsea didn't say anything as she heard her guessing fight going on between the two animals. Her only thought is who will win? Is Bronx alright?
Her answers were soon heard when the husky rolled down the stairs and laid flat on the ground unconscious. They all gawked at the dog, then they soon heard Bronx's barks echoing down the stairs.
Soon the beast jumped over the husky, then rammed into the cage head on. The gargoyles had to take a step back as the cage roared with electricity as Bronx made an exit for them to escape. When he was finished, the three gargoyles escaped out of their imprisonment.
"Good boy Bronx!" Brooklyn praised embracing the beast.
He soon let go as Chelsea kissed the beast on the forehead. "You are something, you know that?"
Bronx's answer for her was a large slap of slobber on her face. She grunted in disgust as half of her face was covered in beast slobber after he licked her. That made Brooklyn leaned his head back and gave a hearty laugh. Chelsea narrowed her eyes as she took a bit of the slobber in her claws and flung it over to Brooklyn, which hit smack dab over his beak.
"Hey!" Brooklyn exclaimed, which it was Chelsea's turn for a hard laugh, wiping the slobber off her face. The red gargoyle wiped the slobber away and gave her the stink eye at the female.
"Okay you too," Lexington spoke behind them. "Let's get out of here!"
That made the duo realize they were still in the basement, and they all made a beeline up the stairs.
The secret passageway led to Macbeth's weapons room, where the man immediately went for a sword hanging on the wall. Just as he turned, Goliath reached the top of the stairs, looking beyond angry. The duo charged at one another, Macbeth with a sword and Goliath with his bare claws.
The man swung his sword, in which the gargoyle ducked, and leapt into the air, landing on a ledge. Goliath turned and grabbed a mace and jumped off the ledge toward his enemy. There weapons clashed as they glared at one another, wanting to end each other, then they stepped back.
As they glared each other down, smoke from the fire downstairs was speeding upwards, filling the room. Fire slithered toward the tapestries, and soon the whole room was ablaze.
Even with the fire, the two clashed sword with mace, their weapons echoing over the roar of the fires. Soon Goliath swings his mace, breaking Macbeth's sword. The man gritted his teeth and narrowed his eyes.
"Blast you!" the man shouted, then pulled out a gun.
He went to open fire, only for Goliath wrapped his tail around the man's wrist and hoisted him in the air. The gargoyle crushed the mans gun, then held the man by his coat.
Knowing that he was defeated, Macbeth quickly ditched his coat, dropping to the ground, then bolted to the exit. Goliath tried to follow, only for the flames to create a makeshift wall around. He went to follow, only to stop when he heard a familiar voice.
"Goliath!" Brooklyn's voice echoed.
The leader turned to his left to see Brooklyn Chelsea Lexington and Bronx together. He ran towards them, escaping as the flames completely consumed the castle.
Later, the gargoyles all stood outside the burning castle. They saw Macbeth and his pet (who regained consciousness) flew away as the castle collapsed into a burning rubble.
"Let's go home," Goliath told them.
The gargoyles all flew over the city heading back to their home. While gliding, Brooklyn and Chelsea were carrying Bronx with Lexington gliding close, and Goliath taking the lead. Just as they were a near distance toward the castle…
"Goliath!"
They all looked down and were surprised to see Hudson Broadway and Elisa standing a different rooftop. Confused, they all landed on the rooftop, Goliath landing closer to them.
"What are you doing here?!" he demanded. "Why aren't you guarding our home?!"
"You don't live there anymore," Elisa told him.
"WHAT?!" the leader angrily stalked forward.
Elisa was unfazed at his presence. "I found you a new home."
"How dare you?!" He got straight to her face as his words almost sounded like growls. He pointed at her. "I told you, that castle is our home!"
"No Goliath!" Broadway stood in front of Elisa before Goliath could say anymore. "She's right! It's suicide to stay there!"
"Lad," Hudson added in a calm manner, walking over to his leader. "They're right, you know. It's just a place of stone and wood. Home is more than that Goliath." He gestured to the rest of the clan standing behind him. "Home is the seven of us. Wherever we can be together and safe…that's our home."
Goliath gritted his teeth, then did the most inhumane thing by screeching out at night. That made the clan take a stagger back as Goliath calmed down, still looking up at the castle. Even though he didn't want to admit it, Hudson's words rang with truth. From loosing so much before he and his clan were in stone sleep for a thousand years, he was too stubborn to admit and was afraid to loose the last place that reminded him of his old time.
"Come, Goliath," Hudson spoke in a soft voice. "Let's be going."
"Give me one minute." Goliath spoke as he walked over to the edge and took off toward the castle.
At the main hall of the castle, Owen was cleaning the last of the glass shards from the Grimorum display. He mentally jumped when Goliath barged into the room.
"I have a message for your master," Goliath spoke in his usual low tone. "We're leaving, but we'll be back." He turned around as he ended. "We'll be back to claim of that which is ours."
"I'll deliver your message." Owen replied as he finished cleaning the glass.
Later that night, Goliath and the rest of the gargoyles gathered above the police precinct in a large clock tower. The interior of the clock was empty with enough room to fit all seven gargoyles. Everyone were spread out examining the space intently. Lexington was focusing on the main contraptions in the center of the room.
"I'll-uh, I bet I can get this thing working again." He said as he cupped his chin in interest.
Brooklyn turned to the smaller gargoyle. "Why would you want to?"
