Chapter 10: Rage Unleashed
Author's Note:
Evil Naruto is beginning now—there's no turning back at this point. Sorry for the long waits, but I wanted to give him more reasons to hate the village, and this is where his true descent starts. He's embraced the darkness within him, and from here on out, the story takes a much darker turn.
I will be adding the other two girls in a few chapters, but right now, I'm going to focus on him returning to the village and dealing with the academy students. There's a lot of groundwork to be laid, and things are about to get intense.
I've been feeling under the weather, and honestly, I didn't think I'd get this chapter done by today. I'm still sick, but I didn't want to keep you waiting any longer. Thank you for being patient, and I'm sorry again for the delay. Your support means everything, and I'm excited for you to see where this story goes next.
Stay tuned—things are about to get even darker.
Naruto and Fu had been spending more time together, their training intensifying as they pushed each other to new limits. The bond between them had grown stronger, their shared experiences bringing them closer than either had expected. Despite the rigorous training, they found moments to relax and enjoy each other's company, often engaging in lighthearted banter that made the long days bearable.
Today was no different. They had just finished another grueling session with the Kitsune, who had been relentless in their demands. Naruto and Fu, both drenched in sweat, sat on a fallen log in the clearing, catching their breath.
"That was brutal," Fu said, wiping her forehead with the back of her hand. "I didn't think they'd go that hard on us."
Naruto chuckled, leaning back and looking up at the sky. "Yeah, but we're getting stronger. You're getting stronger, Fu. You should have seen the look on Aka's face when you pulled off that wind jutsu earlier."
Fu smiled, feeling a sense of pride in her progress. "I guess. But you've been improving too, Naruto. That fire release jutsu you used—it was like you've been doing it for years."
Naruto shrugged, a small grin on his face. "I've had a good teacher," he said, nodding towards the Kitsune, who were observing them from a distance.
Kuro and Aka, the two foxes who had been training Naruto and Fu, approached them, their fox-like features softened in their humanoid forms. Kuro's tall, lean frame contrasted with Aka's more muscular build, but both shared the same piercing eyes and agile movements that were characteristic of their kind.
"Your progress is commendable," Kuro said, his voice deep and resonant. "But there is still much to learn. Do not let today's success make you complacent."
Aka nodded in agreement. "You're doing well, but remember, the true test of your abilities will come when you face real danger."
Fu looked between the two foxes, her expression serious. "We understand. We won't let up."
Naruto stood up, stretching his arms. "Yeah, we're ready for whatever comes next."
The Kitsune exchanged a glance, their expressions unreadable. "Very well," Kuro said. "But for now, take a break. You'll need your strength for what's to come."
Naruto and Fu nodded, grateful for the brief respite. As the Kitsune moved away, Fu turned to Naruto, a thoughtful look on her face.
"Hey, Naruto," she began, her voice softer than usual. "Do you ever think about what we're training for? I mean, what if we never have to use these skills? What if—"
Naruto cut her off, his tone gentle but firm. "Fu, we're training because we have to be ready for anything. I know it's hard to think about, but the world isn't always kind. We need to be able to protect ourselves and the people we care about."
Fu looked down, her hands fidgeting in her lap. "I know… It's just… I don't want to hurt anyone. But I also don't want to see anyone I care about get hurt."
Naruto placed a hand on her shoulder, his grip reassuring. "I get it, Fu. But sometimes, you have to fight to protect what's important. And when that time comes, you'll be ready. We'll both be ready."
Fu looked up at him, her eyes reflecting a mix of emotions—fear, determination, and something else she couldn't quite place. She nodded slowly, trying to push her doubts aside.
"Thanks, Naruto," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm glad I have you by my side."
Naruto smiled, his eyes warm. "Always, Fu. We're in this together."
As the day wore on, they continued their training, pushing themselves harder with each passing hour. Naruto's new techniques were becoming more refined, his control over the wind and fire releases improving with each practice session. Fu, too, was making progress, her ability to manifest her wings and use Chōmei's chakra becoming more consistent.
During their break, Fu decided to test her new wings again. With a few focused breaths, she summoned them from her lower back, the translucent wings buzzing to life as they lifted her off the ground. Naruto watched, impressed by how far she had come in such a short time.
"You're getting the hang of it," he called out to her, shielding his eyes from the sun as he looked up at her.
Fu beamed, swooping down to pick him up again. "Thanks! Wanna go for another ride?"
Naruto laughed, letting her grab him as she had done before. "Sure, why not? Just don't drop me, okay?"
Fu rolled her eyes playfully. "You worry too much, Naruto. I've got you."
They flew together, circling the village in the trees below. The Kitsune watched from below, their expressions a mix of pride and caution. They knew the strength these two were developing, and they also knew the potential danger that could come with it.
As they landed back on the ground, Kuro and Aka approached them again, this time with more serious expressions.
"We need to talk," Kuro said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Naruto and Fu exchanged a glance, their lightheartedness fading as they saw the gravity in Kuro's eyes.
"What's going on?" Naruto asked, his voice steady despite the unease he felt.
Kuro glanced at Aka, who nodded. "There have been rumors… disturbances near the border of the village. We're not sure what it means yet, but we need to be prepared for anything."
Naruto's expression hardened, his earlier confidence replaced with a sense of foreboding. "You think someone's planning an attack?"
"It's possible," Aka replied, her voice low. "We've always been careful to keep this village hidden, but nothing is ever truly safe. You two need to be on your guard."
Fu's wings fluttered nervously as she absorbed the information. "What should we do?"
Kuro's gaze was stern. "Continue your training, but stay vigilant. If something happens, you'll need to be ready to fight."
Naruto nodded, his jaw set with determination. "We won't let anyone hurt this village. We'll protect it, no matter what."
The Kitsune nodded, their expressions approving. "Good. Now, get some rest. Tomorrow, we'll begin a new phase of your training. You'll need to be at your best."
As they left, Naruto and Fu exchanged a look, the gravity of the situation settling in.
"Looks like things are about to get serious," Naruto said, his voice calm but tense.
Fu nodded, her expression determined. "Yeah. But we'll be ready, Naruto. We have to be."
Naruto smiled, his resolve unwavering. "We will be, Fu. We've got each other's backs, and nothing's gonna change that."
As the night fell, they retired to their quarters, the weight of the coming days heavy on their minds. But despite the uncertainty, they knew one thing for sure—they would face whatever came together, no matter the cost.
Naruto was in the middle of a deep, dreamless sleep when the sounds of chaos erupted outside. His eyes snapped open, the noise of clashing weapons, and shouts filling the air. For a brief moment, he was disoriented, unsure if he was still dreaming, but then the familiar scent of smoke and the distant roar of flames confirmed his worst fears.
The village was under attack.
He bolted upright, his heart pounding in his chest. "Fu!" he shouted, scrambling to his feet. He rushed out of his quarters, not even bothering to grab his usual gear. The moment he stepped outside, the reality of the situation hit him like a ton of bricks.
The Kitsune village was in chaos. The once peaceful enclave was now a battlefield, with Kitsune warriors locked in fierce combat against the intruders. The invaders, clearly ninja from the Village Hidden in the Waterfall, were tearing through the defenses with brutal efficiency. Their movements were swift, calculated, and deadly, but the Kitsune were giving them no quarter.
Naruto's eyes flared with anger as he took in the scene. Bodies littered the ground—both Kitsune and Waterfall ninja alike. Blood stained the earth, the air thick with the metallic scent. He could see the Kitsune struggling to hold their own, but the attackers were relentless, their intent clear: destroy everything in their path.
A surge of rage erupted within Naruto, and without thinking, he reached into his pouch, pulling out wind and fire talismans. His hands moved with practiced precision, placing the talismans on the ground and walls around him. He activated them with a burst of chakra, and immediately, the talismans came to life, releasing swirling blades of wind and roaring balls of fire.
The wind blades cut through the air with a terrifying speed, slicing through the bodies of the attackers like a hot knife through butter. The first ninja barely had time to scream before his body was torn apart, his flesh ripped from his bones in a grotesque display of power. The force of the wind was so strong that it sent blood and viscera spraying across the battlefield, painting the ground red.
Another ninja, attempting to evade the wind blades, was met with a ball of fire that engulfed him in an instant. His screams were shrill and desperate as the flames consumed him, his flesh charring and blistering under the intense heat. His body twisted in agony before collapsing into a smoldering heap, the stench of burnt flesh filling the air.
Naruto moved with a deadly grace, his anger fueling every action. His eyes glowed with Kurama's influence, the red chakra swirling around him like a protective shroud. The ninja who dared to approach him met a swift and brutal end, their bodies reduced to nothing more than broken, lifeless husks.
Kurama's voice echoed in Naruto's mind, a mix of approval and sadistic delight. "Yes! Tear them apart! Show them the power they dared to challenge! Let them feel the wrath of the nine-tailed fox!"
Naruto's expression was one of pure fury as he continued his assault. His paper talismans transformed into deadly weapons, each one infused with wind or fire chakra, each one designed to kill. He hurled them at the intruders with deadly accuracy, watching as they sliced through armor, flesh, and bone alike.
One of the ninja, a large man wielding a massive sword, charged at Naruto with a battle cry. Naruto didn't hesitate. He activated a wind talisman at the last second, and the man's charge was halted as the talisman released a razor-sharp gust of wind. The man's eyes widened in shock as his sword was shattered, followed by his torso being sliced cleanly in half. His upper body slumped to the ground, his eyes still wide with disbelief, while his lower half crumpled beside him, a pool of blood quickly forming.
Another ninja, trying to flank Naruto, was met with a fireball that engulfed him completely. The flames melted the skin from his bones, reducing him to a charred skeleton within seconds. Naruto didn't even spare him a second glance, already focused on the next threat.
Suddenly, a pained scream pierced the chaos, cutting through the sounds of battle like a knife. Naruto's heart skipped a beat as he recognized the voice.
"Fu!"
He turned sharply, his eyes scanning the battlefield until he found her. She was on the ground, blood seeping from a deep wound in her side. A Waterfall ninja loomed over her, a sadistic grin on his face as he prepared to deliver the final blow.
"NO!" Naruto roared, his voice a mix of his own and Kurama's as the red chakra around him flared violently. Without thinking, he sprinted towards Fu, hurling a wind talisman at the ninja with all the strength he could muster.
The talisman exploded mid-air, releasing a powerful gust of wind that slammed into the ninja with enough force to send him flying. The man's body twisted unnaturally as he was flung into a nearby tree, his spine snapping audibly on impact. He crumpled to the ground, his limbs splayed out at unnatural angles, dead before he even hit the ground.
Naruto skidded to a halt beside Fu, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he knelt down beside her. Her face was pale, her breath shallow, and the sight of her like this made something snap inside him.
"Fu… hang in there," Naruto said, his voice shaking with a mix of fear and anger. He placed his hands over her wound, desperately trying to stem the bleeding. The red chakra from Kurama flowed into his hands, but no matter how much he tried to heal her, the wound was too deep.
Fu opened her eyes slightly, looking up at Naruto with a weak smile. "I'm sorry, Naruto… I couldn't… I wasn't strong enough…"
"Don't say that!" Naruto snapped, his voice breaking. "You're strong, Fu! You've always been strong! Just stay with me, okay? We'll get through this… I promise."
But deep down, Naruto knew that time was running out. The wound was too severe, and unless he did something drastic, he would lose her.
Kurama's voice rumbled in his mind, more serious than it had been before. "Naruto… you have to let me take over. My chakra can keep her alive long enough to heal her, but you need to finish this fight. Do you understand?"
Naruto nodded, his eyes filled with determination. "Do it. Save her, Kurama. Please."
Kurama's chakra surged through Naruto, surrounding Fu in a protective cocoon of red energy. The Kitsune who had been fighting nearby saw the display and quickly moved to protect them, forming a barrier around the pair as Kurama worked to stabilize Fu.
Naruto stood up, his body trembling with rage as he turned to face the remaining intruders. His eyes were now fully red, the slitted pupils glowing with an otherworldly light. The sight of his injured friend, coupled with Kurama's influence, had pushed him beyond the point of no return.
"You… will all pay for this," Naruto growled, his voice distorted by Kurama's power.
The remaining Waterfall ninja hesitated, fear creeping into their eyes as they realized they were no longer facing the same boy they had attacked moments before. But it was too late to retreat.
Naruto's hands moved in a blur, activating the remaining talismans he had on hand. Fire and wind exploded in a deadly dance, consuming everything in their path. He didn't stop, didn't care about the screams of the dying or the scent of burning flesh. All that mattered was the rage that burned inside him, the need to protect what was his.
Bodies were torn apart by wind blades, limbs severed, torsos cleaved in two. Fire engulfed the remaining ninja, reducing them to ashes as Naruto advanced, his every step bringing death and destruction. The earth shook beneath him, the very air crackling with power as Kurama's chakra fueled his wrath.
The Kitsune, seeing the carnage, joined Naruto in his rampage. Shōzoku and his warriors tore through the remaining ninja with a ferocity that matched Naruto's. Together, they left no survivors, no mercy for those who dared to threaten their home.
As the last of the Waterfall ninja fell, Naruto stood amidst the carnage, his breath ragged, his body trembling with exhaustion. The village was in ruins, but the threat had been eliminated.
He turned back to Fu, who was still lying where he had left her, the red chakra slowly dissipating as Kurama completed his work. Naruto dropped to his knees beside her, his heart pounding as he searched her face for any sign of life.
Her eyes fluttered open, weak but alive. "Naruto… you did it…"
Naruto let out a choked sob of relief, pulling her into a gentle embrace. "Yeah… I did. We're safe now, Fu. You're safe."
But even as he held her, a part of him knew that something had changed. The rage he had unleashed, the blood he had spilled—it had left a mark on him, one that he couldn't ignore.
And as the flames of the burning village flickered in the distance, Naruto realized that there was no going back. Not from this.
Naruto stood in the heart of the Kitsune village, his chest heaving from the exertion of the battle and the lingering fury that simmered beneath his skin. The once-peaceful settlement was now a battlefield, littered with the bodies of fallen enemies and the smoldering remains of what had been their homes. The Kitsune, who had welcomed him only a short time ago, now surrounded him, their eyes filled with a mixture of fear and anger.
"You brought this upon us!" one of the Kitsune snarled, pointing a trembling finger at Naruto. "Because of you, the humans attacked! We've lived here in peace for years, and now look at what you've done!"
Others joined in, their voices rising in a chorus of accusations. "You endangered all of us!" "We should have never trusted you!" "Take that girl and leave!"
Naruto remained silent, his gaze cold and indifferent as he took in their anger. His eyes, once filled with warmth for his newfound companions, were now a chilling red, reflecting the malevolence that had taken root in his heart. A twisted grin spread across his face, devoid of any emotion other than contempt.
"I understand," Naruto said, his voice eerily calm. "I'll take the girl and leave."
The crowd fell silent at his words, their anger momentarily tempered by the finality in his tone. But before they could push him out, Shōzoku stepped forward, his presence commanding the attention of the entire village.
"Let him stay," Shōzoku said, his voice carrying the weight of authority. "Naruto may have made mistakes, but he is still under the protection of our master, Kurama."
The other Kitsune grumbled, their displeasure evident, but they did not dare defy their leader's orders. Naruto, however, shook his head, his eyes narrowing as he surveyed the destruction around him.
"This is no place for me," he muttered, more to himself than to anyone else. "I've grown to like you all, but I've put you in danger. I need to leave."
Shōzoku nodded, understanding the young shinobi's resolve. "At least let the girl stay here to rest. She needs time to recover."
Naruto hesitated for a moment, glancing back at Fu's unconscious form, her face pale from blood loss and exhaustion. He knew she needed to rest, but he also knew that he couldn't stay here any longer. He was a danger to them all.
"Fine," Naruto agreed reluctantly. "She can stay… but only for a few days."
With that, he turned away from the village, his resolve hardening as he walked towards the outskirts. The Kitsune watched him leave, a mixture of relief and regret in their eyes. But before Naruto could fully depart, Kurama's voice echoed in his mind.
"Take one of the fruits," Kurama urged. "You'll need it for what's to come."
Naruto didn't question the command. He made his way to the center of the village, where the ancient tree stood tall and proud, its branches heavy with the strange, glowing fruits that were unique to the Kitsune. Without hesitation, he reached up and plucked one of the fruits from the tree, the soft glow illuminating his face as he held it in his hands.
As he walked out of the village, Naruto took a bite of the fruit, the taste unlike anything he had ever experienced. It was sweet, yet bitter, filling his senses with a strange energy that pulsed through his veins. He could feel something change within him, a shift in the very core of his being.
The normally yellow chakra that flowed through his body began to shift and morph, taking on a darker, more ominous hue. It became red, an eerie, blood-like color that crackled with power. His eyes flickered, the pupils narrowing into slits as his ears lengthened into pointed tips, covered in soft, Blonde fur. A bushy tail sprouted from his lower back, twitching with the newfound energy that coursed through him.
Naruto could feel Kurama's chakra intertwining with his own, amplifying his strength, his rage, and his bloodlust. He walked with a newfound purpose, his steps heavy with the weight of the power he now wielded. He had a mission, and nothing would stand in his way.
It wasn't long before he reached the outskirts of the village that had attacked them. The barricades were hastily constructed, the few ninja that remained standing guard, their faces pale with fear and exhaustion. The villagers huddled behind the walls, their terror palpable as they awaited the inevitable retaliation.
Naruto stood before them, his expression a mask of cold, detached fury. He could hear Kurama's voice in his mind, urging him on, feeding his anger.
"Slaughter them all," Kurama growled. "Show them the true meaning of fear. They dared to harm our kind, and now they must pay the price. This is what you were born to do."
Naruto's lips curled into a savage grin, his eyes glowing with a malevolent light. He created two paper heads, each one forming at his sides. The first head held a wind talisman in its mouth, the second a fire talisman. Naruto himself held a third talisman in his hand, infused with the power of FoxFire.
He didn't hesitate. With a flick of his wrist, he activated the talismans, sending the paper heads forward. The wind head unleashed a powerful gust of wind, while the fire head released a ball of searing flames. Naruto added his own attack, spraying the area with Fox Fire, a potent and deadly technique that set everything in its path ablaze.
The wind and fire combined into a devastating inferno, the blast tearing through the barricades and engulfing the defenders in a storm of flame and wind. The wooden structures splintered and shattered, the flames spreading like wildfire as they consumed everything in their path.
The screams of the villagers and ninja alike filled the air, their bodies torn apart by the sheer force of the attack. Flesh sizzled and crackled as the flames licked at their skin, their bones snapping under the pressure of the wind. The air was thick with the stench of burning flesh and the acrid smell of smoke, the once peaceful village now a living hell.
Naruto didn't stop. He moved forward with a predatory grace, his movements fluid and precise. The remaining ninja attempted to fight back, but they were no match for the sheer power that Naruto wielded. His paper talismans became weapons of mass destruction, each one enhanced with wind or fire chakra, each one designed to kill.
He threw a wind talisman at one of the ninja, the gust of wind slicing through the man's midsection, severing his torso from his lower body. The man's eyes widened in shock as he crumpled to the ground, his lifeblood spilling onto the earth.
Another ninja lunged at Naruto, but he was met with a blast of Fox Fire that engulfed him in flames. His body writhed in agony as the fire consumed him, his screams echoing through the night before he was reduced to nothing but ashes.
The villagers cowered in fear, their pleas for mercy falling on deaf ears. Naruto's rage was all-consuming, his desire for vengeance overpowering any sense of compassion or restraint. He moved through the village like a force of nature, unstoppable and merciless.
Kurama's voice rang in his ears, urging him on. "Yes! This is what you were meant to do! Slaughter them! Burn them to the ground! Let them feel the wrath of the nine-tailed fox!"
Naruto's response was an animalistic roar, the sound ripping from his throat with a ferocity that sent shivers down the spines of those who heard it. He was no longer the boy they had known, no longer the child who had sought acceptance and love. He was a demon, a harbinger of death, and nothing would stand in his way.
He continued his rampage, his attacks growing more brutal, more savage with each passing moment. Bodies were torn apart, limbs severed, heads cleaved from shoulders. The ground was soaked with blood, the air thick with the scent of death.
The Kitsune who had followed him watched in stunned silence, their eyes wide with shock and horror. Shōzoku stood at the forefront, his expression unreadable as he witnessed the carnage. He knew that Naruto was no longer the boy who had come to their village seeking training. He had become something else, something darker, more dangerous.
But he made no move to stop him. This was a fight that Naruto needed to finish, a path he had chosen for himself. All they could do was bear witness to the destruction he wrought.
As the last of the villagers fell, Naruto stood amidst the carnage, his breath coming in ragged gasps, his body trembling with exhaustion. The village was in ruins, the flames still burning brightly in the darkness of the night. The screams had faded, replaced by the crackling of the fires and the distant howl of the wind.
Naruto looked down at his hands, covered in blood and soot. He felt a strange mix of satisfaction and emptiness, the realization of what he had done slowly sinking in. He had avenged Fu, had protected the Kitsune, but at what cost?
He could hear Kurama's voice in his mind, the fox's tone filled with pride. "You did well, Naruto. You've proven yourself worthy of my power. Together, we'll become unstoppable."
But as Naruto looked out at the burning village, the bodies strewn about like broken dolls, he couldn't shake the feeling that something vital had been lost.
Naruto stood amidst the smoldering ruins, the flames casting flickering shadows across his bloodstained face. The air was thick with the acrid scent of burning wood and charred flesh, and the once-peaceful village was now nothing more than a graveyard of ashes and broken bodies. For a moment, a flicker of doubt and emptiness threatened to take hold of him, but he quickly shook it away, his resolve hardening as he embraced the darkness within.
A twisted grin spread across his face, his eyes glowing with an unholy light as he reveled in the destruction he had wrought. The power that surged through him, fueled by Kurama's chakra, was intoxicating. It was as if every fiber of his being was alive with the thrill of the kill, the satisfaction of finally embracing who he was meant to be.
He looked down at the lifeless bodies scattered around him, and a low, mocking laugh bubbled up from his throat. "You thought you could challenge me?" he sneered, his voice dripping with disdain. "You thought you could harm someone I care about and get away with it? How foolish."
Naruto kicked one of the bodies aside with a callous disregard, the sound of cracking bones echoing in the silent night. His grin widened as he began to walk through the ruins, his eyes glinting with a mixture of satisfaction and malice.
"This… this is what I was born to do," he muttered to himself, his voice barely above a whisper but filled with a cold certainty. "This is who I am. All those years I wasted, pretending to be something I'm not… joining the Uchiha, seeking acceptance, trying to be part of that fake family. What a joke."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over the devastation he had caused. The memories of his time with the Uchiha flickered in his mind, memories of warmth, of a family that had welcomed him in. But those memories were tainted now, twisted by the betrayal that had shattered his trust and left him adrift in a sea of rage.
"I was weak," Naruto spat, the venom in his voice directed at his past self. "I let myself be fooled by their kindness, by their lies. But no more. This… this is who I really am. This is the power I've been denying myself."
He could feel Kurama's presence, a dark and comforting force that wrapped around his soul like a shroud. The fox's laughter echoed in his mind, a sinister sound that filled him with a sense of purpose, of destiny.
"You're finally embracing your true nature," Kurama purred, his voice a mixture of pride and satisfaction. "This is what I've been waiting for, Naruto. You're no longer that weak, sniveling child who sought approval from others. You're a predator, a force of nature. And together, we'll make this world tremble."
Naruto nodded, the last vestiges of doubt crumbling away as he fully embraced the monster within. He was no longer the boy who craved love and acceptance, who had once dared to hope for a normal life. That part of him was dead, buried beneath the ashes of this village.
"I was born for this," he whispered, his voice carrying on the wind like a dark promise. "I was born to destroy, to conquer, to make everyone who ever looked down on me bow in fear. This world will know my name, and they will learn to tremble at the sight of me."
He glanced down at his bloodstained hands, a twisted smile playing on his lips as he flexed his fingers. "These hands… they were meant for this. For killing, for breaking those who stand in my way. And I'll show them all, every last one of them, what happens when you cross me."
Naruto turned his gaze towards the burning remnants of the village, the flames reflecting in his cold, merciless eyes. "You should have never messed with me," he said, his voice carrying a chilling finality. "You were nothing but stepping stones on my path to power. And now, you're just ashes, forgotten by the world."
The fire crackled and roared, the sound of destruction music to Naruto's ears. He stood there for a moment longer, basking in the aftermath of his rampage, the thrill of power coursing through his veins. This was who he was—this was the truth he had buried deep inside, now unleashed and unstoppable.
With one last look at the ruins, Naruto turned away, his heart cold and his mind focused on the path ahead. He was no longer the boy who had sought a place to belong. He was a force of destruction, a harbinger of death. And nothing, no one, would stand in his way.
As he walked away, the fire behind him roared with renewed fury, consuming what little remained of the village. And in the distance, the wind carried his final words, a dark promise that would echo in the hearts of those who dared to defy him:
"This is only the beginning."
Naruto's journey into the darkness had begun, and there would be no turning back.
Naruto stood silently at the edge of the now desolate village, his eyes tracing the remnants of the once-thriving Kitsune haven. The wind carried with it the faint scent of ash and earth, mingling with the bittersweet memories of his time spent among the fox spirits. The towering tree that had once stood proudly at the village's center was now gone, uprooted by Shōzoku and the others as they fled to find a new home, leaving behind only echoes of what once was.
Kuro, Aka, and Shōzoku stood nearby, their expressions solemn as they prepared to depart. Shōzoku, the elder among them, stepped forward, his humanoid form casting a long shadow across the ground. His ears twitched slightly as he gazed at Naruto, a mixture of sadness and resolve in his eyes.
"We have to leave, Naruto," Shōzoku began, his voice low and heavy with regret. "We cannot take you with us. Our people must find a new place to call home, somewhere far from human eyes, where we can live in peace. This will be the last time you see us."
Naruto nodded, his expression unreadable as he absorbed the weight of Shōzoku's words. He understood their decision—after all, it was his presence that had brought danger to their door. Still, the knowledge that this was the end of their journey together left a hollow ache in his chest.
"I get it," Naruto finally said, his voice steady despite the turmoil within. "You have to do what's best for your clan. I… I'm sorry for everything."
Shōzoku shook his head slowly, his gaze softening. "You have nothing to apologize for, young one. You did what you believed was right, and in doing so, you protected one of your own. For that, you have my gratitude." He hesitated, then added, "I am truly sorry that it has come to this, but our survival must come first."
Naruto opened his mouth to respond, but before he could speak, he felt a familiar presence surge within him. His eyes flickered red, and the voice that came out was not his own, but Kurama's, deep and resonant with ancient wisdom and power.
"Thank you, Shōzoku," Kurama rumbled, his voice reverberating through the air. "I understand the burden you carry, and I hold no grudge against you. You've done what you must to protect our kin. Take care of them, and keep them safe."
Shōzoku bowed deeply, his respect for the great beast evident in his every movement. "I will, Master Kurama. I swear it."
With those final words, Shōzoku, Kuro, and Aka turned to leave, their forms shifting back into their fox shapes as they melded into the shadows of the forest. Before they vanished completely, Shōzoku looked back one last time, his eyes meeting Naruto's with a look of unspoken farewell.
"Good luck on your journey, Naruto. May you find the strength you seek."
Naruto watched them disappear, the silence that followed feeling almost oppressive. He stood there, alone once more, until he felt the weight of exhaustion pulling at him. There was nothing left here for him now—only memories and the faint hope that his path might one day cross with theirs again.
Days passed in a blur as Naruto remained by Fu's side, keeping watch over her as she lay in a deep, coma-like state. He tended to her wounds, using what little he knew of healing techniques to ensure her recovery. The food and provisions left by Shōzoku sustained them both, though Naruto found little appetite as he waited for Fu to wake.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Fu stirred. Her eyes fluttered open, confusion and pain evident in her gaze as she slowly sat up. Naruto was at her side in an instant, his expression a mixture of relief and concern.
"Naruto…?" Fu's voice was weak, her words slurred as she tried to piece together what had happened. "Where… where are we? What happened?"
Naruto's face softened as he placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We're still in the village… or what's left of it. You were hurt pretty bad, but you're going to be okay now."
Fu winced as she tried to move, the memory of the attack coming back to her in fragments. "The village… the foxes… are they…?"
"They're gone," Naruto replied, his voice quiet. "They had to leave to find a new home. We're the only ones left here now."
Fu's expression crumpled, a mix of fear and sorrow clouding her features. "I… I'm sorry, Naruto. This is all my fault."
Naruto shook his head firmly, his grip on her shoulder tightening slightly. "No, it's not. Don't ever think that. This happened because of those bastards who attacked us, not because of you."
Fu bit her lip, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. "What… what do we do now?"
Naruto took a deep breath, his resolve hardening as he spoke. "We're leaving. We can't stay here, not anymore. We're going to head to Konoha."
"Konoha?" Fu echoed, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
"Yeah," Naruto confirmed. "But we'll have to be smart about it. We'll travel together until we get close to the village, and then we'll split up. You'll go through the front gates and tell them what happened—just leave out the part about the fox spirits and my involvement. They'll take you in as a refugee while they investigate. I'll find another way in."
Fu looked at him, her eyes searching his face for any sign of hesitation. "Are you sure this is the right thing to do?"
"It's the only thing we can do," Naruto replied, his voice steady. "We don't have any other options."
Fu nodded slowly, though the fear and uncertainty in her eyes didn't fade. "Okay… I'll trust you, Naruto."
Naruto gave her a small, reassuring smile. "Good. Now, let's get you ready to move. We need to leave as soon as possible."
As Fu struggled to her feet, leaning on Naruto for support, the weight of their journey ahead pressed heavily on them both. They had lost so much, and the path before them was fraught with danger and uncertainty. But together, they would face whatever came their way.
Naruto knew that the road to Konoha would be long and difficult, but he also knew that he had a mission now—a mission to protect Fu, to find a place where they could both belong, and to continue down the path of power that he had chosen. No matter what, he wouldn't let anything stand in his way.
As Naruto and Fu began their journey toward Konoha, the forest around them seemed to close in, the dense foliage casting long shadows across their path. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and the occasional rustle of leaves, a reminder that they were far from the safety of civilization. Fu leaned on Naruto for support, her steps still unsteady from her injuries, but her determination evident in the way she pushed forward.
Naruto kept his senses on high alert, his eyes constantly scanning their surroundings for any sign of danger. The recent attack on the Kitsune village had left him on edge, and the weight of responsibility for Fu's safety bore down heavily on his shoulders. Kurama remained silent in his mind, watchful but not interfering, letting Naruto take the lead.
They walked in silence for a while, the only sound being the crunch of leaves and twigs underfoot. The quiet between them was tense, each of them lost in their thoughts. Naruto's mind raced, trying to formulate a plan for when they reached Konoha. He knew that their story would need to be convincing if they were to be accepted, especially since he planned to keep his true intentions hidden from the village leaders.
Eventually, the silence became too much for Fu, and she spoke up, her voice soft and tentative. "Naruto… are you sure this is going to work?"
Naruto glanced at her, seeing the worry etched on her face. He gave her a reassuring nod, though he wasn't entirely sure himself. "It'll work. We don't have any other choice, so we'll make it work."
Fu nodded, though the doubt didn't leave her eyes. "I… I'm scared, Naruto. What if they don't believe me? What if they find out about… about what happened?"
"They won't," Naruto said firmly. "You just need to stick to the story we came up with. Tell them about the attack, but don't mention anything about the Kitsune or me. They'll believe you, and they'll take you in."
"And what about you?" Fu asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "What will you do?"
Naruto's expression hardened slightly as he thought about his next steps. "I'll find another way into the village. I've got some tricks up my sleeve, and I'll make sure they don't suspect anything."
Fu looked at him with a mix of admiration and concern. "You've changed, Naruto. You're… different from the boy I met in the village. Stronger, but… colder, too."
Naruto's eyes flickered with something unspoken, but he quickly pushed it aside. "I've had to be. The world isn't kind, Fu. It's better to be strong and survive than to be weak and get crushed."
Fu didn't respond immediately, her mind turning over his words. She could see the truth in them, but it also saddened her to see how much the events of the past few days had hardened him. She couldn't shake the feeling that she was partly to blame for the change, and the guilt weighed heavily on her heart.
After what felt like hours of walking, they finally reached a small clearing near a stream. Naruto called for a brief rest, knowing that they couldn't push themselves too hard. As they sat by the water's edge, Fu dipped her hands into the cool stream, splashing her face to wash away the remnants of their journey.
Naruto watched her for a moment, his mind still racing with thoughts of the days to come. Despite everything, there was a small part of him that felt a strange sense of peace here, away from the chaos that had engulfed their lives. But he knew it wouldn't last. They still had a long way to go, and the real challenges were yet to come.
Fu broke the silence again, her voice soft as she gazed at the water. "Do you think we'll ever find a place where we can be safe? Where we don't have to keep running?"
Naruto's expression softened slightly as he considered her question. "I don't know, Fu. But we'll keep looking until we do. We'll find a place where we can belong, where no one will hurt us."
Fu nodded, her gaze still fixed on the stream. "I hope you're right, Naruto. I really do."
Naruto reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "We'll make it, Fu. Together, we can do anything."
Fu looked at him then, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Yeah… together."
As they sat there, the sounds of the forest around them seemed to fade into the background, leaving them in a moment of quiet camaraderie. For the first time since the attack, Naruto felt a glimmer of hope—a hope that maybe, just maybe, they could find a way to carve out a place for themselves in this harsh world.
But even as that hope flickered in his heart, he knew that the road ahead would be long and treacherous. There were still battles to be fought, both within himself and against the forces that sought to destroy everything he held dear. But with Fu by his side, he felt a renewed sense of purpose, a determination to protect what mattered most.
And so, as the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the forest, Naruto and Fu gathered their things and continued their journey, stepping forward into the unknown, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
Fu approached the towering gates of Konoha with a mixture of anxiety and determination. The sight of the village, with its high walls and bustling atmosphere, was both intimidating and a strange comfort. It was a stark contrast to the forest they had just left behind, full of hidden dangers and harsh realities. Now, she stood on the precipice of yet another uncertain future.
Two guards stationed at the entrance eyed her warily as she approached. Their suspicion was palpable, and Fu couldn't blame them—her appearance, with her green hair and darker skin, marked her as different. Not to mention, her tattered clothes and the signs of her recent injuries likely raised questions about her story.
"Halt!" one of the guards called out, stepping forward to block her path. "State your name and business."
Fu swallowed her nerves and spoke as clearly as she could. "My name is Fu. I'm from the Village Hidden in the Waterfall. I—I'm the only survivor of an attack on my village. I came here seeking refuge."
The guards exchanged glances, their expressions unreadable. One of them signaled to another ninja, who approached swiftly. This new arrival wore a Chūnin vest and had a sharp, discerning gaze. He looked Fu over, assessing her carefully.
"You're claiming to be the last survivor of an attack on Takigakure?" the Chūnin asked, his tone measured. "That's a serious claim. You'll need to come with us for questioning."
Fu nodded, understanding the necessity. "I'll answer any questions you have. I just want a place to stay… a place where I can be safe."
The Chūnin nodded, his expression softening slightly at the genuine fear and exhaustion in her voice. "Follow me," he said, leading her into the village.
As they walked through the gates and into Konoha, Fu couldn't help but feel a pang of nervousness. The streets were lively, with villagers going about their day, children laughing, and shops bustling with activity. It was everything she had imagined—a place full of life and warmth. But she knew that her welcome here was conditional, based on the story she was about to tell.
They arrived at a small, unassuming building, where Fu was led into a room with a simple table and a few chairs. The Chūnin gestured for her to sit, and she did so, trying to calm her racing heart.
Two more ninja entered the room, one of them carrying a notepad, clearly ready to document everything she said. They sat across from her, their expressions stern but not unkind.
"Let's start with the basics," one of them said. "You claim to be from Takigakure. What happened there?"
Fu took a deep breath, steadying herself. "It was… it was horrible. Our village was attacked by a group of rogue ninja. They were relentless, burning everything in their path. I—I don't know why they attacked us, but they were after something. I managed to escape, but… I'm the only one who did."
The ninja scribbled down notes, their eyes never leaving her. "And what about the rest of the villagers? You said you're the only survivor?"
Fu nodded, her voice trembling slightly. "Yes. I tried to help, but there were too many of them. They… they didn't spare anyone."
The ninja exchanged another look, then one of them leaned forward slightly. "How did you make it all the way here? Takigakure is quite a distance from Konoha."
"I ran," Fu replied, her voice gaining strength as she stuck to the story they had planned. "I didn't stop, not until I reached the border. I heard rumors that Konoha was a safe place, that I could find refuge here."
The Chūnin who had escorted her nodded thoughtfully. "You understand that we'll need to verify your story. Until then, you'll be under watch."
Fu nodded, her relief hidden behind a mask of calm. "I understand. I just want to be safe."
The interrogation continued for a while longer, with the ninja asking detailed questions about the attack, her escape, and her life in Takigakure. Fu answered them all as best as she could, sticking closely to the narrative she and Naruto had devised. Eventually, the ninja seemed satisfied, and the one taking notes closed his notepad.
"You'll be assigned temporary quarters while we investigate," one of the ninja informed her. "If your story checks out, you'll be granted refugee status here in Konoha."
Fu nodded gratefully, bowing her head slightly. "Thank you. I appreciate your kindness."
As she was led away to her temporary quarters, Fu couldn't help but feel a mix of relief and apprehension. The hardest part was over, but there was still so much uncertainty ahead. She only hoped that Naruto was safe and that their plan would work.
Meanwhile, Naruto moved through the village in the dead of night, his transformation jutsu concealing his true appearance. The familiar streets of Konoha felt strangely different now, like a place both foreign and nostalgic. He had spent years here, but it felt like a lifetime ago.
His ears and tail hidden, he navigated the labyrinth of alleyways and shadowy passages, avoiding any direct confrontation with the village's patrols. Thanks to his extensive knowledge of Konoha's hidden pathways, he easily made his way through the walls, using an old, rarely used passage that led into the village. It was a secret route, known to only a few, and it allowed him to slip past the main defenses unnoticed.
Once inside, Naruto headed straight for his old apartment. He knew better than to draw attention to himself, so he moved quickly and quietly, keeping to the shadows. When he finally reached the familiar building, he felt a strange sense of déjà vu, as if the last few years had never happened.
He climbed the stairs to his apartment, the creaking wood under his feet a stark reminder of his past life here. The door opened with a familiar groan, and he stepped inside, closing it behind him. The room was exactly as he had left it—small, cramped, and devoid of any warmth. But it was home, or at least it had been.
Naruto dropped his transformation jutsu, letting his true form show as he stood in the middle of the room. He took a deep breath, the memories of his time here flooding back. This place held so much of his past, but he knew that he couldn't afford to dwell on it.
The first thing he did was check for any signs that someone had been here in his absence. Everything seemed untouched, but Naruto wasn't one to take chances. He quickly set up a few paper clones to scout the area and keep watch, ensuring that no one would surprise him.
Satisfied that he was safe, Naruto sat down on the floor, leaning back against the wall. His mind was already racing with plans, thinking about what needed to be done next. He was back in Konoha, but this time, he was here with a purpose—a purpose that went beyond anything he had ever considered before.
As he sat there, Naruto's thoughts drifted to Fu. He hoped that she was safe and that the interrogation had gone smoothly. He knew she was strong, but this was a test of a different kind. She had to play her part perfectly, just as he had.
"Kurama," Naruto whispered into the silence, his voice barely audible. "What's our next move?"
The nine-tailed fox stirred within him, a deep rumble echoing in Naruto's mind. "We wait. Let the village settle down. Then, we strike when they least expect it. For now, keep up appearances. No one can know the truth."
Naruto nodded to himself, a cold determination settling over him. He had come this far, and he wasn't about to stop now. There was still much to do, and Konoha wouldn't know what hit it when the time came.
For now, he would play the role of the forgotten orphan, the boy after losing everything. But beneath that facade, he was something else entirely—something that the village would soon come to fear.
As the night deepened, Naruto closed his eyes, allowing himself a moment of rest. Tomorrow, the game would continue, and he would be ready.
