This is based on the story "The Expectations" by Valha28. If you haven't read it yet, I suggest you do that first under https/s/14193907/1/The-Expectations
Although this here is a standalone story, it was written with the intention to be sort of a sequel to said story.
It was about Anais telling Penny how she feels the pressure of everyone expecting her to be the smart one, when she would sometimes just prefer to do dumb things with her brothers and Penny convincing her to just be herself, no matter what anyone thinks.
In this story it is mentioned many times that Nicole in particular probably wouldn't approve of Anais acting "dumb" and while in the ending, Anais realized that she doesn't need her mom to like her decision, her reaction was to this was never shown.
I thought it would be interesting to see Nicole's point of view in this situation, especially upon finding out about Anais's thoughts on the matter and I noticed there aren't too many moments between just those two of them in this fandom.
So, I decided to write a continuation of my own to this and gift it to Valha28, also as a thanks to him for already writing two stories based on my recommendations, which are the last two additions to his "Sibling Oneshots", if you want to check it out. Just check out everything he wrote really, if you didn't do that already. You can't go wrong with him.
I also included some themes from other stories he wrote like Gumball and Anais's studying sessions as some of his head-canons for the characters, since I liked them and thought they were fitting the story well. I am going over them in detail in the last chapter of this post, which will be for the ending notes.
