Chapter Two – An Informative Birthday Party

All right here is my next scenario where people find out about Jamie and Eddie being together. I know I'm not a great writer but I am trying my best. Please read, review and enjoy!

Eddie sat snuggled back against Jamie as she listened to Frank's speech. As Jamie's fiancé and a New Your City Police officer she had been to a number of events where she had heard the commissioner talk, and every time it made her understand how demanding his job was. She also understood that he was totally deserving of the NYC man of the year award that he was speaking about right now. He had a hard job that Eddie could not ever imagine having herself.

"So, I guess I will finish up with saying thank you to all those who have supported me, especially my family. My sons, my daughter, soon to be daughter in law, grandchildren and my father. Pop thank you for being an occasional thorn in my side but yet an inspiration and support to me. Thank you." Applause rang out and Eddie turned to Jamie giving him a little peck. It always warmed her heart to be a part of such a loving family.

"Great speech Dad." Danny spoke up as Frank returned to the family's table."

"Yes, well done Francis." Henry agreed. "Although I could have done without that part about being a thorn in your side."

"At the risk of being chastised at 70 years old, I only speak the truth." Frank said and held up his hands a faux innocent look on his face. Everyone laughed at the disgruntled look on Henry's face.

"All done now Dad?" Jamie asked giving Eddie a look.

"Yes." Frank confirmed. "I just have to stay to take some more pictures and shake some hands and then I can get out of here."

"Why are you asking?" Erin asked with a smirk on her face. She knew her little brother, and could tell when he was being evasive. He tended to clench up and start waxing poetic to throw you off.

"We have plans, so we are going to head out." Jamie explained.

"What kind of plans?" Danny asked the innuendo dripping from his question.

"Plans where we haven't had more than 24 hours alone together for more than two months. So let your imagination run wild." Eddie spoke up a wide grin on her face at the look of discomfort on Jamie's face. She loved teasing him.

"Eddie!" Jamie objected.

"Jamie!" She teased back.

"All right, all right." Frank interjected. "I don't want to hear where this is going. Head out you two. We'll see you for dinner Sunday?"

"You bet Frank." Eddie agreed and gave her father-in-law a hug and kiss on the cheek.

"Congrats again Dad. See you Sunday."

They were driving home, Eddie's constant teasing about being a prude making him just love her more, when she yelled out "Oh my God Jamie stop!"

"What?"

"That was McLaren's, Kelly Sanderson's birthday party is there tonight!" Eddie explained.

"Who is Kelly Sanderson and why is she having her birthday at a cop bar?"

"Kelly was one of the other three women who graduated in my class at the academy. She works out of the 58th precinct. I ran into her the other day and she invited me and my fiancé to the party. Let's go, she said it is totally casual."

"Eddie we are not exactly dressed casual tonight."

"So, I want to show off my super-hot and super sweet fiancé." She crooned and batted her eyelashes.

"You realize we go in there and people are going to know we are together."

"Babe we've got a little over a month to the wedding. Don't you think it is time we confirm what everyone has been thinking all these years?"

"Jamie hesitated for a few seconds before giving in. "All right, let's go."

"Thank you! I love you."

"Love you too." Jamie smirked and pulled over to a spot down the block from the bar. "All right we go in cause a stir, wish your friend a Happy Birthday and have one drink. Then we get back to our plans that we claimed as our reason to leave my family."

"Yes Sir!" Eddie saluted and grinned as she held Jamie's hand as they walked down the block.

When they walked into the bar, the effect was instantaneous. The couple got everything ranging from wolf whistles to laughter to dropped jaws at their formal attire.

"All right, all right!" Jamie said through his grin.

"Where'd you get the monkey suit Reagan?"

"Yeah, trying to show the rest of us up here?"

"What I'd like to know is where you two are coming from that you come into a cop bar like that acting all lovey dovey?" The voices of their colleagues came from all around but the question from Kara Walsh cut through them all.

"We were at my dad's awards banquet. It was a black-tie event." Jamie explained. "And before we get more questions, we walked in all lovey dovey because we are engaged."

"Yes, we are engaged, see the ring." Eddie spoke up over the crowd and held up her hand. "No, we were not together when we were partners."

"But when she saved my life, we said screw it and decided that was it. We wanted to be together."

"Now we are just here to wish Kelly Sanderson Happy Birthday, have one drink and then go home to get back down to business." Eddie grabbed Jamie's hand and pulled him along to the back of the bar where she could see her friend.

"Good for you girl! Get some!" Kara yelled at their retreating backs.

Jamie colored slightly and muttered to Eddie, "You know as a Sergeant I'm not above giving anyone here a RIP even off duty."

Eddie just laughed and patted his hand that was joined with hers. "I know baby. Come on let's go see Kelly."

This is the dress I picture Eddie wearing, the red version. Something a little flashy but yet tasteful.
