AN: Hey everyone, who has chosen to continue reading this story. You may notfeel like this is an achievement, but for me it is. Having 15 people mark this story in their favourites is a major shock to me, and having 16 of you wonderful readers following as well is amazing. This chapter was originally almost 2000 words, which was more than the rest of this story so far. I have chosen to Make this chapter 900 words instead and will post the other section as the following chapter. Thank you all for the support in reading this. One review was left on the previous chapter, so I will be responding to them now:
SvenHPotterFan: Yes, I agree that this is a well-covered idea, however this is a story theme I do personally love and will be going to be continuing with it. My story may be similar to many others due to the common issues that are placed within this topic and would be unavoidable. I am hoping that there are major differences that occur but as I haven't read all the stories available, I can't promise that. On to your last point, this is my first attempt at writing a story so there will be clunkiness, I can't help that, but I am hoping to learn from any mistakes I make. I hope to fix the issue of chapters ending in important sections and apologize for that occurring.
As the night creeped up upon Harry and Hermione, their curiosity rose. The Headmistress very rarely invited anyone up to the castle unless it was particularly important. Harry just hoped he wasn't being called there on official Auror business, since he recently gave up the role as Head of the DMLE.
"What do you think the Professor needs us for?" Hermione Questioned, knowing Harry had no idea himself.
"I wish I knew, but whatever it is, it has to be something important." Answer Harry.
Ginny had already left the house, but not before letting Harry know how upset she was. She attempted the Bat-bogey hex that she is well known for using but was blocked with a quick Protego. Harry assumed that she had left for the Burrow, an assumption later proven correct when a familiar owl, Errol, had dropped a letter on Harry's head.
'Harry,
Ginny arrived home today in a bad mood, remarkably similar to mum when dad ignored her wishes. I hope you weren't hit from her usual spell choice and want you to know I believe your right to go see the Headmistress (Her mumbling revealed everything).
While we normally stock joke products, we have started a section on protections too and would be willing to help you, free of charge.
Hope my favourite Brother-In-Law remains safe,
George'
Knowing Ginny was safe, Harry calmly checked the time.
"I think it's time to go, Hermione. The Professor would be waiting for us soon." Harry frantically called, staring at the clock that claimed it was 6:15PM.
After a rush to get ready, 10 minutes had passed. Harry and Hermione apparated to the gates on their old school. They didn't have time to reminisce on their time as student before they saw the carriage being pulled along by the infamous Thestrals which were now visible to most of the wizarding world.
Climbing into the carriage harry thought about what they could possibly be here for again. Were they here to discuss the damage they caused in the final battle a few years ago? The damage was only just recently fixed up. Or were they here to speak to Dumbledore? What could the portrait possibly need to tell them?
It wasn't long until the Thestrals stopped outside the giant doors that lead into the main entrance. Waiting for them was their old head of house, and the current Headmistress.
"Maybe all those years ago I should have turned either you or Mr Weasley into a watch." Joked the Headmistress, remembering what had occurred during Harry's first Transfiguration class. "Mr Weasley would be my current choice, considering he isn't here anyway."
Harry and Hermione were led into the Great Hall towards the Teacher's table at the front. The students were confused, seeing two people not normally at the school, but were now excited in realising they were two thirds of the golden trio that saved the wizarding word. They were even more excited that one of them was Harry Potter.
The hall broke out into a loud chatter, which was a normal occurrence for a school full of teenagers during mealtime. Tonight's topic was Harry and how strong he really is. News hadn't broken on his retirement as Head of the DMLE and wont until they announce a new Head, which meant Harry didn't have to worry about being questioned for his decision.
Dinner was remotely uneventful, the food was as amazing as it always is, and it wasn't long until Harry and Hermione were sitting across from the Headmistress in her office.
"Professor, how can we help you this evening?" Harry asked, wanting to get the ball rolling.
"Harry, You're not my student anymore. In private, you may call me Minerva." She requested. "I was preforming an audit on the items in the school's possession and found that some of the founders' items are missing. All of these items have been missing for centuries, with the only exceptions being the items Voldemort used as horcruxes, which we now know what happened to them. All the other missing items belonged to Salazar Slytherin."
"Profess... Uh I mean, Minerva, if these items have been missing for centuries, why tell us?" questioned a confused Harry.
Hermione seemed to be deep in thought and as Minerva was going to respond, Hermione interrupted. "The Chamber!"
"Correct Hermione, if I could give house points here, I would." Minerva looked impressed at Hermione, her brilliance shining. "The chamber is only able to be opened by a Witch or Wizard who speaks Parseltongue. It also didn't help that we didn't believe in the chambers existence until your second year."
"I'm not even sure if I am still able to speak Parseltongue" Harry was nervous, he hadn't attempted to speak the dark language since he discovered its origin, nor did he know if he lost the ability when the horcrux that lived within him was destroyed. "What if I can't get in?"
"Couldn't you make it sound like you're speaking it? Thats what Ron did when we destroyed the cup." Hermione seemed sure of herself, knowing that the entrance to the chamber could be tricked.
Harry still wasn't sure. 'It could work, that was known, but what if he couldn't speak in the language of the snakes? Could he fake it?' Harry doubted himself in his thoughts.
"Ok, we can try." Harry decided, still not convinced.
"Before we go, Minerva, you would only need Harry for this, and I understand why you invited Ron as a backup, but why ask for me as well?" Hermione asked.
"I figured that you would love to explore the missing artifacts and journals we are hoping to find. To try and find something out that we would normally look over. It could be helpful, should you accept the position as the new Professor of the History of Magic class." Minerva offered.
