CeCe Jones was walking down the streets of Chicago, still reeling from the events of the day.
She was shaken from the though of thinking she was the one whom caused the fire then finding out it was Gary. But, what bothered the most, was Tinka Hessenheffer, who tried to take the blame for CeCe. Now, it wasn't the fact that she took the blame as much as why. Tinkas twin brother, Gunther had left Chicago to go the Old Country. He left his family, he left Tinka and he left h- uh, he left his friends, yeah that it, his friends. And, what was worse was that he never even said goodbye. CeCe knew they were frenemies but the first part of that word was Friends. Yes, CeCe understood that Gunther went to help his grandmother, but what she couldn't understand was why him? Was there seriously no one else? Cece shook her head. There has to be somebody else that can help. Gunther belonged in Chicago, he belonged his family, with his friends and with h- his friends. Why does she keep thinking that he left her, and that he needs to, no this was too much, she did not have feelings for him. Well, she did have feelings, feelings of anger. How could he leave without saying goodbye. Sure, they didn't always get along, but she thought they were becoming friends. Well, obviously not! CeCe bit her lip as she thought. There had to be a way to fix this. After what Tinka did for her today, she deserved to have her brother back. However, as cool as CeCe pretends to be, she was nervous on how to go through this plan. She closed her eyes and whispered a prayer, though she hadn't prayed since Rocky hurt her ankle.
"Hi God, it's me CeCe, I know I haven't spoken to you in years, and I'm sorry. Thank You for these really cute boots, aren't they cute?" She shook her head. "Sorry, that's not why I'm praying. We're in a hot mess, You see, Shake it up is off the air and Gunther has left the country. I know he is needed in his country but can't someone else help? I know fight with Gunther, but he is my friend, and as You know, I care about my friends. I don't know what I'd do if I was thousands of miles away from Rocky, I just can't, so Gunther and Tinka being apart doesn't make sense to me. Is there a way to help them? Whatever is, You know I'll do it. As you know, I don't give up without a fight. And, please get Shake it Up back on air. Thank You, also , how cute are these boots."
After she was done praying, A smirk made it's way across her lips as an idea hit her. She made a sharp U-turn as she made a head for the Hessenheffers apartment. She prayed that God work this out. Now, CeCe wasn't versed on Church or the Bible, so she didn't know the verse Isaiah 55:8 where it said 'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nether are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. But, she was determined to do something. Now, please understand that we can make plans but it is God who establishes our steps.
CeCe took a deep breath as she looked at the bright gold door of the Hessenheffers. Lifting her hand, she tapped on the door. She had texted Ty and Deuce and asked them to distract Tinka, so she knew Tinka wasn't there. After what felt like forever, Kashlack and Squitza opened the door. They looked at CeCe confused.
"Oh look, it's Gunther's red haired girlfriend." Squitza told her husband. Of course they would make fun of her. CeCe knew that Gunther did not see her that way., Apparently, he didn't see her in anyway. She gave a shy smile.
"IWell, I'm not his girlfriend, but you meant friend that's a girl. Yeah, I'm kinda his friend. Were more frenemies. " CeCe rolled her eyes. At first Squitza and her husband gave an knowing look. They knew their son was in love with his little cookie, they just thought she would know by now. Had he not told her, not even when he told her goodbye? But, then her words hit them. This was serious. They turned their attention on their future daughter in law.
"What is it CeCe?"Kashlack asked, leaving CeCe surprised. Oh, they remember her name. She nodded and said,
"Gunther should be here with you and Tinka and his friends." This got the Hessenheffers attention and their faces took on a grim look.
"We agree." Said Squitza, who had a thoughtful look on her face. "But, there is nothing to be done. My grandma insisted Gunther help. And, because of what happened between my family and I, we were forbidden to come."
CeCe knew exactly what Mrs. Hessenheffer was referring to. Squitza was once in line for throne, but she fell in love with a butcher (Kashlack) and against her family's wishes, married him. This act resulted in her being dethroned. Obviously, Squitza's family never got over that. I mean, why else would Gunther go alone. CeCe shook her head.
"There has to be someone else to help."CeCe begged. Squitza and Kashlack looked at each other.
"There is." They both said, and they welcomed CeCe in their home as they explained,
Meanwhile, in the Old Country, Gunther was in the field tending to the goats. He sighed. He really missed his family, he missed Tinka, and he missed his friends. He also really missed CeCe. His family had told him to make sure he said goodbye to her, but, he just couldn't. Leaving already hurt, saying good bye to that beautiful face would just hurt more, especially since he knew she would beg him to stay, not because she care about him, but because she wouldn't want the Hessenheffer twins to be apart. After all, she did fight, alongside Rocky, to keep the Japanese police from deporting Tinka back to the Old Country. He knew CeCe wouldn't understand why he had to go back. But, he had to help his great-great grandma. Just then, Gunther thought he must be dreaming for walking across the field was CeCe Jones. Gunther squinted and shook his head. No, it was just his imagination. CeCe could not be there. The vision saw Gunther and walked over to him. She looked angry? Gunther began to realize that this was really CeCe. But, how did she get here, and why was she here in the Old Country.
"CeCe?" He asked, frozen in shock. CeCe angrily shook her head.
"How could you?" She asked angrily. Gunther was shaken out of his shock.
"What?" He looked at her. He couldn't understand whay she was so upset about his leaving. She never loked him. .
"You left Chicago, you left your family, Tinka, you left your friends." She seethed. Realization hit Gunther, of course she would be upset for Tinka and the gang. Even though, he knew CeCe didn't really care about him, she knew he cared about her friends and about his and Tinka's siblingship for it reminded her of her friendship with Rocky. She would fight for them to be together just like she would fight for her friendship with Rocky Blue. Gunther really shouldn't be surprised, and yet he was.
"Vhat are you doing here, CeCe? Didn't Tink explain to you why I had to leave?" CeCe shook her head.
"Of course she did, but what I don't understand is, why you? Isn't there someone else to help?" CeCe scoffed. "You're fifteen, you shouldn't have to be expected to be responsible for all this." She gestured towards the field. Gunther looked at her thoughtfully. She was right, but he couldn't see his way out. CeCe gave him a look, as if she knew what he would say.
"So, your parents told me about your aunt, uncle and Grinkle, who badly misses Bobchka," with that, CeCe paused and gave Gunther a shamed look. "I'm sorry about that." A couple years ago, CeCe and Rocky hosted the advise section on the Shake It Up! Website. Well, someone had asked the two advise on what to do if every girl in his school rejected him for the upcoming dance. CeCe had bluntly suggested that he'd start all over again, and transfer to another school. CeCe had not actually intended for him to move away from his family. CeCe knew what it was like to be away from a family member who should be there with her. Gunther placed his hand on her shoulder, tenderly. CeCe had no idea why she felt so warm as he did so.
"Don't be." Gunther told her. "You were just being honest. A bit blunt, but, Tinka can be also." He raised a brow. "Vait, vhat about Aunt, Uncle and Grinkle?" CeCe smirked and extended her hand to the field.
"Come out guys!" She exclaimed. Hiding in the bushes were a man, a woman and a girl a bit older than CeCe and Gunther. Gunther couldn't help but be frozen in shock. He looked at CeCe.
"You did this?" He couldn't believe she would do something like this for him. He knew CeCe, and he knew she would do anything for her friends, but, Gunther didn't think she saw him as her friend. CeCe nodded and Gunther embraced her in a warm hug. CeCe couldn't help but feel safe in his arms. She frowned at her thoughts. No, she did not have feelings for Gunther Hessenheffer. He was the last man she would ever prevail- wait, wrong story, CeCe has never even read the book. CeCe slowly pulled away from Gunther. She did not want to pull away from his warmth. She looked at him.
"Family shouldn't be apart from each other. Your family greatly misses you and Bobchka's family misses him and the Old Country. Gunther come back to Chicago." She gave a small smirk. "Rocky and I did not fight to keep Japan from deporting Tinka just for you two to be separate. You two are like Rocky and me, a pair that should never be broken." Gunther nodded and looked at her.
"You came here alone?" He asked worried for her safety. She shook her head.
"No, my mom came. She's exploring the country while I went and found you. We are to meet her at the market place." She gave him a hopeful look. "You coming?" CeCe held out her hand. Gunther looked over at the open field as he watched his aunt, uncle and cousin Grinkle reunite with Bobchka. Grinkle ran over to her twin and hugged him tightly, She then pulled away and smacked him with her purse, something Gunther knew Tinka will do if he returns to Chicago.
"Why did you leave?!" Grinkle yelled. "I had no one while Tinka and Gunther had each other." This gave Gunther the push he needed. He couldn't leave his twin alone in Chicago. Yes, he knew that she would have CeCe, Rocky and their friends but he also knew that there is nothing like a sibling by your side.
Gunther looked at her and nodded
"I'm coming. " Gunther gingerly took the small hand.
The Old Country, of what little did CeCe see of it, was absolutely breath taking and not at all what Gunther and Tinka made it to be. Yes, there were poor parts, and yes, there was an oncoming revolution, but the Palace and the Palace farm was gorgeous. CeCe and Ms. Jones were invited to stay at the Castle for the night, of course on a total different wing than Gunther and his family. His grandmamma was course and gruff but there was an overall kindness and wisdom to her. However, she was very happy that Gunther was not dating this dancer from America, because, even with this new situation, Gunther was still in line for the throne, he was just now third in line instead of next and Grandmamma didn't want a commoner to be in the Royal Family. Bashka completely forgave CeCe, though Grinkle was still a bit bitter. But, overall the stay was nice. The next morning, Gunther, CeCe and Georgia Jones headed back to America.
Everyone was surprised, yet happy, that Gunther was back in America. His parents greeted him with a hug and a kiss. Tinka, however, did hit him, not with her purse but a pillow, but then, smiled and hugged her twin. She looked at CeCe, smiled at her and said,
"I guess, now you've earned my freindship."CeCe gave a small smirk and said,
"I guess I have."
