There's but one problem with the Victor's mask. For it to work, the victor must have two essential things; haunting vivid memories and loved ones they would trade their lives to protect. One without the other is to no use. So when Olive Navin Cresta survives the 69th Hunger Games with no recollection of her time in the Arena, the mask gets destroyed before it's even placed.

The 62nd Annual Hunger Games are upon District One, the reaping date set as Silk Monroe tried to prepare herself for it. It was her first reaping in District One, one she had a bad feeling about. Lower District scum. Sibling of a traitor. Not truly District One. All the whispers that are said about Silk Monroe when she isn't listening, all true things nonetheless.

I did promise I'd write this, and a Pipes pays her debts. Primarily because I'd like at the least a little handle on my Victors, and if I don't write them with handy little shorts then I'll be disappointed in myself. Kismet-noun: definition: destiny; fate. Panem has found a new sense of hope. A hope that permeates through the hearts of the nation's poorest, hungriest, and weakest, giving them strength in the notion that there is something worth fighting for.
