Ben stood amidst the glowing embers, his fiery form crackling with raw energy. The initial panic of being on fire had subsided, replaced by a mix of awe and excitement. His flaming hands flickered as he moved, sparks dancing in the night air.
"Hey, calm down," Miko said firmly, stepping toward him, her hands raised. Her voice carried a calm authority that cut through his adrenaline-fueled thoughts. "You're not burning. Just don't move, okay?"
Ben glanced at her incredulously. "Are you kidding? Look at me!" He raised his arm and instinctively launched a fireball.
The blazing orb shot through the air and hit a tree, igniting it instantly.
"Ben, stop! Wait!" Miko yelled, but it was too late. The fire spread rapidly, licking at the branches and racing across the dry underbrush.
"Oh man," Ben muttered, staring in horror as the flames grew.
"This time, when I say don't move, listen," Miko snapped, her tone sharp. She stepped forward, holding her glowing pendant aloft.
Ben blinked. "What are you doing? What is that supposed to do?"
Miko ignored him, her focus entirely on the fire. She closed her eyes and began chanting, her voice steady and commanding.
"Rin, Pyou, Tou, Sha, Kai, Jin, Retsu, Zai, Zen! Akuryo Taisan!"
The pendant flared with silver light, its glow illuminating the smoky night. A powerful pull seemed to emanate from it, and the raging flames began to bend toward the pendant, swirling like a vortex. In moments, the fire was completely extinguished, sucked into the glowing artifact.
Ben stood frozen, his jaw slack. "Whoa."
Miko lowered the pendant, letting out a quiet breath. She glanced at Ben and put a finger to her lips. "Don't tell anyone."
Before he could respond, she shimmered and disappeared, leaving him standing alone in the now-darkened forest.

With no other options, Ben decided to head back to the campground. His flaming body illuminated the path, and he felt an odd mix of exhilaration and nervousness. What would Max and Kuri think of him like this?
As he approached the campsite, Kuri looked up from where she was sitting by the firepit. She immediately noticed the strange figure glowing in the darkness.
"Uh… don't freak out," Ben said, holding up his flaming hands in what he hoped was a non-threatening gesture. "It's me!"
Kuri tilted her head, her blue eyes narrowing. There was something familiar about the way this flaming figure spoke. "Ben? Is that you? What… what happened?"
Ben stepped closer, the firelight making his alien features even more surreal. "Okay, so, when I was walking, this meteor fell from the sky and almost flattened me. Except it wasn't a meteor—or a satellite. It was this cool watch thing that jumped onto my wrist. When I tried to take it off, BAM! I was suddenly on fire. But it didn't hurt, even though I accidentally started this mega forest fire."
Kuri blinked, trying to keep up with the rapid explanation. "Wait, you started a forest fire?"
Ben waved his flaming hands. "It's fine! It's fine! A girl showed up, and she, uh, sucked it up into a magic necklace or something."
Before Kuri could respond, Max came running into the campsite, a flashlight in hand. "Kuri, are you alri—" His words faltered as he caught sight of the flaming figure standing near her. "What in blazes?!"
Kuri gave a small, amused smile. "Hey, Grandpa, guess who."
Max froze, squinting at the figure. "Ben?"
Ben nodded sheepishly, the flames on his shoulders flickering. "Yeah, Grandpa, it's me."
Max's jaw dropped as he took in Ben's transformed appearance. "Ben… what happened to you?"
Ben sighed, preparing to explain again. "Okay, so, when I was walking, this meteor fell from the sky…"
As Ben reiterated the story, Max listened intently, his expression shifting from shock to a mixture of concern and curiosity. Kuri, meanwhile, stood back, her arms crossed as she observed Ben's new form.
"So this… watch thing," Max said slowly, pointing to the Omnitrix on Ben's wrist, "just latched onto you and turned you into… this?"
"Pretty much," Ben replied. He gestured to his fiery body. "I mean, it's kind of cool, right? Except for the part where I nearly burned down the forest."
Max shook his head. "Ben, this is serious. We need to figure out what this thing is and how it works. And more importantly, how to turn you back into… well, you."
Kuri stepped closer, her gaze flicking between Ben and the Omnitrix. "It's definitely alien tech," she said thoughtfully. "But it's not just tech—it's something more. It felt… alive."
Ben glanced at her, surprised by her insight. "Wait, you can feel that?"
Kuri nodded. "Yeah. When you walked up, I could sense it. Whatever this is, it's not just a machine. It's connected to you now, Ben."
Max rubbed his chin, his expression thoughtful. "We need to do some research. This thing could be dangerous, or it could be the key to something incredible. Either way, we need answers."
