Smoke billowed into the evening sky as flames devoured a two-story house on the edge of town. The sound of sirens echoed in the distance, but the fire was growing fast.
"Grandpa, pull over!" Ben shouted from the back of the Rust Bucket.
Max barely had time to park before Ben was out the door, slamming down on the Omnitrix. A green flash transformed him into Heatblast.
Miko—or rather, Kuri—was right behind him. She held her pendant tightly, its faint silver glow reflecting the firelight.
"Ben, wait!" she shouted, but Heatblast was already charging into the blaze.
Inside, the fire roared, heat pressing down on him like a physical force. He smashed through a door to find a family huddled in a corner, trapped by the flames.
"Hang on, I've got you!" he said, scooping them up in his massive arms.
Kuri stood outside, focusing her energy. She raised her hands. "Hiko!"
A gust of wind swirled around her, creating a barrier that kept the fire from spreading to nearby homes. As Ben emerged with the family, she quickly escorted them to safety.
"Teamwork," she said, smiling.
"Nice one, Miko," Ben replied, grinning as he transformed back into himself.

Back at the Rust Bucket, Ben lounged on the couch, admiring his latest treasure: a rare Sumo Slammer card he had picked up earlier in town.
"Check it out, Kuri," he said, holding it up. "Mint condition! This thing is worth a fortune."
Kuri rolled her eyes but smiled. "You're such a nerd."
Max entered, looking serious. "Don't get too comfortable, you two. That fire wasn't just an accident."
"What do you mean?" Kuri asked.
Max held up a newspaper. "While everyone was distracted by the fire, a nearby jewelry store was robbed. Someone's using chaos as a cover."
Ben sat up, his eyes narrowing. "Not on my watch."

The trio arrived at the scene of the robbery just as the thieves were loading their loot into a van.
"It's hero time," Ben said, slamming down on the Omnitrix and transforming into XLR8.
In a blur of motion, he sped around the van, creating a whirlwind that knocked the thieves off their feet. Kuri, now in her Miko form, followed with a sweep of her sword, sending a wave of energy that disarmed the robbers.
"Nice teamwork," Ben said, smirking.
But before they could celebrate, police sirens wailed, and officers swarmed the scene.
"Great job, boys," one of them said, handcuffing the thieves. "We've got it from here."
"Wait, what?" Ben said, reverting back to human form. "We just—"
"Don't bother," Kuri said, shaking her head. "Let's go."

The next day, the group made a stop at Mega Mart.
"We need supplies," Max said.
Ben, however, had other priorities. He wandered over to the cereal aisle, scanning the boxes for the elusive Sumo Slammer card he needed to complete his collection.
"I've earned this," he muttered, transforming into Grey Matter. He hopped into the boxes, rifling through them.
"Ben!" Kuri hissed, trying to pull him out.
"Relax! No one will notice."
Moments later, a manager approached with a raised eyebrow. Max sighed. "Guess we're buying the whole shelf."
Before they could leave, the lights flickered, and a loud screech echoed through the store. Dr. Animo stepped out of the shadows, his Transmodulator in hand.
"Ah, child!" he said, grinning wickedly. "How convenient."
He pointed the device at a nearby hamster and parrot, transforming them into monstrous versions of themselves.
Ben groaned. "Why can't I ever just shop in peace?"
His Omnitrix, still recharging, was useless. Thinking fast, he grabbed a football from a nearby shelf and hurled it at Animo. It hit him square in the chest, knocking the Transmodulator out of his hand.
"You'll regret that, boy!" Animo snarled, fleeing as his creations attacked.
Ben and Kuri managed to subdue the animals, but Animo escaped, leaving behind only chaos.

That evening, the trio tracked Animo to the natural history museum. Inside, they found him working on a massive woolly mammoth skeleton.
"You're too late, Tennyson!" Animo sneered, activating his device. The mammoth roared to life, its skeletal frame moving with terrifying speed.
Ben slammed the Omnitrix, transforming into Four Arms. He charged at the mammoth, grappling with its enormous tusks. Kuri, now Miko, unleashed her arrows, trying to weaken it.
While they fought, Animo's parrot swooped down and grabbed Kuri, carrying her into the upper levels of the museum.
"KURI!" Ben roared, his voice filled with panic.

Kuri struggled against the parrot's talons, managing to fire one last attack that restored the mammoth to its original skeleton. But before she could free herself, Animo appeared and grabbed her pendant.
"You won't be needing this anymore," he said, smashing it against the wall.
The shattering of the pendant sent a wave of pain through Kuri, and she screamed.
Ben heard her cry and froze. Something inside him snapped.
"ANIMO!" he bellowed, slamming the Omnitrix and transforming into Diamondhead.
He tore through the museum, his crystalline fists smashing through anything in his path. When he reached Animo, his rage was palpable.
Ben didn't hold back. Each punch landed with bone-crushing force, sending Animo sprawling. "You hurt her!" Ben roared, his voice shaking the walls. "You don't get to hurt her!"

As Animo fled, leaving his plans in ruins, Ben turned back to Kuri. She was unconscious, her body limp on the ground. The shattered pieces of her pendant lay beside her.
"No, no, no," Ben muttered, transforming into Grey Matter.
With his enhanced intellect, he carefully pieced the pendant back together, fusing it with the Omnitrix's energy. The moment he finished, the pendant glowed faintly, and Kuri's eyes fluttered open.
"Ben?" she whispered weakly.
He let out a shaky laugh, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "You're okay."
She smiled softly. "Why did you give up your Sumo Slammer card for me?"
Ben grinned, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Wasn't even a close contest."
Kuri's laugh was light, but her gratitude was deep. "You're such a dork."
"And you're stuck with me," Ben replied, helping her to her feet.
As they walked out of the museum together, the Omnitrix beeped faintly, signaling its readiness for whatever came next. Ben couldn't help but smile. For all the chaos, this was shaping up to be one unforgettable summer.
