Ben Tennyson stood frozen outside the school gates, his heart pounding like a drum in his chest. The chatter of students filtered through the cool morning air, and every laugh, every murmur felt like it was aimed at him.

"C'mon, Ben," Kuri said gently, standing beside him. "School isn't that bad."

Ben glanced at her, his face pale. "It is when everyone knows."

"They know you're a hero," Kuri countered, her tone reassuring. "So what? I know. Reiko knows. Kevin knows. And we think it's awesome."

"That's different," Ben muttered, his hands shoved deep into his jacket pockets. "You guys are my friends. But these people… they don't even know me. What if they hate me? What if they're scared of me?"

Kuri tilted her head, studying him with those sharp blue eyes. "Ben, I know you've seen the news. You've heard people talking. But the world's not full of people like that guy on TV."

"That guy hated me, Kuri," Ben said, his voice rising slightly. "He called me a danger. Said I was just a kid with too much power and not enough responsibility. What if everyone here thinks the same thing?"

Kuri sighed, stepping closer to him. She placed her hands on his shoulders, forcing him to meet her gaze. "Listen to me, Ben. You're more than the Omnitrix. You're more than Heatblast or Swampfire or Big Chill. You're you. And the Ben I know is brave, selfless, and kind."

Ben didn't look convinced.

Kuri's expression softened, and she leaned forward, brushing a light kiss against his lips. A faint pulse of magic lingered in the air, wrapping around him like a warm embrace.

"You saved me," Kuri said softly, her voice steady. "Now it's my turn to save you."

For a moment, the weight on Ben's chest eased. He nodded, his grip tightening on her hand. "Okay. Let's do this."

As Kuri led Ben through the front doors of the school, the bustling hallway fell silent. Conversations stopped mid-sentence, heads turned, and all eyes locked onto him.

Ben's stomach churned. His shoulders tensed as he felt the weight of their stares. He was used to the attention that came with being a hero in the field, but this was different. These weren't villains or civilians—these were his classmates.

Some of them whispered behind their hands, while others openly gawked. A few took out their phones, snapping pictures or recording videos.

Kuri squeezed his hand reassuringly. "Keep walking," she murmured.

As they made their way to his locker, the whispers grew louder.

"Is that really Ben 10?"

"He's shorter than I thought."

"I heard he destroyed an entire building last week!"

"Isn't he, like, dangerous or something?"

Ben's face burned as he fumbled with his locker combination. He couldn't tell if it was embarrassment or frustration bubbling up inside him.

"Hey, Tennyson!" a loud voice called. Ben stiffened as Cash and J.T., his old bullies, approached with matching smirks. "So, you're some big-shot hero now, huh?"

Ben braced himself for their usual taunts. "What do you want, Cash?" he said, his voice clipped.

"To say thanks," Cash said, surprising him. "Turns out, it's pretty cool knowing the guy who saved the world. Makes us look good, y'know?"

J.T. nodded eagerly. "Yeah, dude. You're, like, famous now. Everyone's talking about you!"

Ben blinked, his irritation giving way to confusion. "Wait, what?"

Cash slapped him on the back, nearly knocking him into his locker. "Relax, man. You're a hero. Own it!"

Ben stared after them as they walked away, laughing and high-fiving each other. "Did that just happen?"

Kuri smirked. "Told you. People see the good in you, Ben. You just have to let them."

Lunchtime wasn't much better. Ben sat at his usual table with Kuri, Reiko, and Kevin, trying to ignore the constant stares from across the room.

"Dude, you've got to chill," Kevin said, taking a massive bite of his sandwich. "You're acting like these kids are going to storm the table with pitchforks or something."

"Easy for you to say," Ben muttered, stabbing at his food with a fork. "You're not the one they're all staring at."

"They're staring because you're a big deal now," Reiko said, tossing her long red ponytail over her shoulder. "You saved the world, Ben. Own it."

Ben frowned. "I didn't save the world alone."

"Yeah, but you're the one wearing the Omnitrix," Kuri pointed out. She placed a hand on his arm, her touch grounding him. "You're the face of what we do, whether you like it or not. And the Ben Tennyson I know? He's the best person for the job."

Ben glanced at her, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Thanks, Kuri."

"Don't thank me yet," she said with a grin. "You've still got the rest of the day to survive."

By the time the final bell rang, Ben was exhausted. The constant attention had drained him, and all he wanted was to disappear.

But as he walked out of his last class, he noticed something strange. The hallway was unusually quiet, and the students were gathered in clusters, whispering excitedly.

"What's going on?" Ben asked, glancing at Kuri.

She just smiled. "You'll see."

As they stepped into the gym for an impromptu assembly, Ben froze. The entire school was there, and as soon as he entered, they erupted into applause.

Cheers echoed off the walls, and a massive banner hung above the stage that read: Thank You, Ben 10!

Ben's mouth opened and closed, but no words came out.

"You saved the world, Ben," Kuri whispered, her voice full of pride. "Now let them celebrate you."

Even Cash and J.T. were clapping, grinning from ear to ear.

Kuri beamed, joining in the applause. "My hero," she said softly, just loud enough for him to hear.

Ben felt a warmth spread through him, melting away the nerves and insecurities he'd carried all day. He stepped forward, giving a shy wave as the cheers grew louder.

For the first time, he believed Kuri's words. Maybe—just maybe—he was exactly the hero they thought he was.
