"My apologies, Mr. Scamander! I shall return and release you when Credence is dead!" Kama said. I rolled my eyes. Adults are so dramatic and annoying. "Kama, wait!" Tina yelled after him. "You see, either he dies...or I do." After that incredibly dramatic statement that cleared up nothing, he clasped his eye and started muttering something, probably no repeatedly. He suddenly dropped to the ground and started convulsing. I whipped my wand out of my pocket and cast alohomora on the door. I ran to start checking on him while Dad argued with Tina. "Dad! He's still alive!" I called out. "Excellent work, Amy. Well done." He pressed a quick kiss to my head before a loud growl was heard. "The Zouwu." I breathed. Dad agreed, grabbing my shoulder and disapperating to the street level.

We were greeted by the sight of the Zouwu that was projected earlier. She was clearly frightened and clearly injured somehow. Dad placed his case on the ground, started rummaging for the cat toy we normally keep close by. I sighed and pulled it out of my coat pocket. I handed it to Dad, and he caught the Zouwu's attention with it. The Zouwu calmed down, her eyes fixated on the fluffy bird. She crouched down, tail swishing gently as the creature prepared to pounce. Everyone around us gasped and screamed as the Zouwu pounced. Dad dropped the toy just in time. The Zouwu followed the toy into the case. I followed after to look after her. I helped the Zouwu into the habitat closets to what she would have been used to then went and grabbed the dittany to start taking care of the obvious injuries. It took me a couple of minutes to gain her trust, but I eventually managed to get her to calm down enough to allow me to approach. By the time Dad came down to check on us, she was a puddle on the floor as I fussed over her. Dad double checked what I had done and showed me a couple of things I had missed as well as some more complicated techniques for healing them. When he was satisfied, he sent me to feed the creatures, as it was approaching dinner time for most of the creatures. When that was finished, I went to go see what Dad and the others were doing, but saw that the case was closed, so I guess I'm stuck down here for a little while longer. I groaned when I noticed that I had some of the transfiguration homework I hadn't finished yet laying on my bed. I decided to continue with it while I waited, because I might as well.

I'm not sure how long I spent on my homework, but I was interrupted when the Zouwu burst out of the case. I scurried over to the ladder, only to see that it was closed again. I sat down to wait. Fortunately, it was only a minute before the case opened. "Amelia! You can come out now!" Dad called down to me. I climbed up and was greeted by a darkened cemetery. I looked around and saw that Tina, Aleathiea, and Leta were also there. "Okay, wasn't quite expecting a reunion...what's going on?" I asked Dad. He shrugged, going to calm the Zouwu before answering me. I felt Leta run off as her mind moved away but decided to not question it at this point. Fortunately, the Zouwu calmed down quickly, going back into the case with no further fuss. See, big kitty. It was then that everyone else noticed that Leta was gone.

We ran into the mausoleum to hear Kama and Leta talking. Credence and a woman are also there. "So, he's your brother? Who am I?" Credence asked Leta, his voice close to begging. Leta's face was full of pain as she admitted that she didn't know. Credence pushed past her to face Kama and begged to know who he was. "Your story is our story..." here he also pointed at Leta. "Our story." Leta then interrupted him. "No, Yusuf-" She tried to interject, but Kama continued talking. "My father was Mustafa Kama, a pureblood of Senegalese descent and most accomplished." He began. The magic in the room began to swirl, conjuring scenes as he spoke. A couple with a young boy appeared. I'm assuming Kama and his parents. "My mother-" called it. "Laurena was equally high bred-a noted beauty. They were deeply in love. They knew a man of great influence, from a famous French family. He desired her." I do not like where this is going. The scene changed. His mother was now wearing a night dress, and her eyes were blank and distant. All signs pointed to the imperious curse. "Lestrange used the Imperius cures to seduce and abduct her." I watched in horror as the young Kama, who looked around my age, maybe a few years younger, tugged at his mother's arm, begging her to come back. But she ignored him and left with the man who I'm guessing is Leta's father. We watched the scene shift to seeing his mum lie on a bed, and a baby was given to the man who abducted her by a very short woman. "That was the last time I ever saw her. She died, giving birth to a little girl. You." He said to Leta. I could hear her thoughts swirling. The guilt she felt because of her mother's death, the hatred she felt to herself. I slid closer to her and grabbed her hand. "It wasn't your fault, aunt Leta. You were a baby, you didn't ask to be born." I could still hear Kama talking, explaining the unbreakable vow his father forced on him. Leta listened, and before I could try again, I heard her projecting. Thank you. I squeezed her hand before tuning back in. "He had only one close relative...you. But-" and here he stumbled. "Say it." Leta challenged him. "He never loved you." Yikes...he really isn't mincing his words. Despite the fact that the only reaction you could see Leta's tears fall, I noticed that my hand was being crushed. I am not going to do anything about it, because I can feel the pain and anguish in Leta's mind.

Kama continued telling his story. The scene playing out had shifted to show Leta's father entering the room with a blonde young woman. His second wife, I presume. "He remarried not three months after her death. He loved her no more than he had loved you...but then..." The scene showed a baby boy being born and delivered to the man, who unlike with Leta, looked delighted. "His son, Corvus, was born at last. And the man who had never known love was filled with it. All he cared about was little Corvus." Credence spoke up. "So... this is the truth? I am Corvus Lestrange?" He asked. "Yes/No." Kama and Leta said simultaneously. I then had an onslaught of thoughts, memories, and nightmares from Leta. The resentment, the anger, the desperation for 5 seconds of quiet, the fear of a little girl, the boat, the switch, the fear as she was evacuated and watching her baby brother drown, knowing that she allowed this because of her selfishness.

I think I missed the rest of the story being told, because the next thing I knew was that I was being propped up against the wall by Aleathiea. "Hey, Amelia, it's okay, you're okay. Just breathe, sweetheart." I took a few deep breaths, then jumped when a section of the wall opened, revealing a doorway. "Queenie!" Jacob yelled, running through the door. "Amelia, stay here. Don't move unless it's to hide or get out. Do not follow me, am I clear?" Dad asked, crouching down to my level as I nodded hesitantly. "I love you. So much." He reminded me. "Love you too, Dad. Be safe?" He nodded, giving me a hug before he and Aleathiea followed Jacob to what I'm guessing is a Grindelwald rally from the sounds of the thoughts and screams of the assembled people.
