Time for the Volume 1 Finale

Professor Ozpin is sitting at his desk, drinking his coffee. His screen beeps to inform someone is at the door.

Ozpin: "Come in." The door opens and it is Hedge that walks inside. "Mr. Badnic. What brings you to my office this evening?"

Hedge: "Well my team has arrived at the docks just awhile ago, so I came to provide you with their scroll numbers so you could connect them to my dorm room and assign them lockers."

Ozpin: "Ah, the rest of Team HAZL has arrived in Vale? But of course, I can definitely get them connected with the dorm room and their respective lockers."

Hedge walks up to Ozpin's desk and shows Anne, Zion, and Leonidas' scroll numbers. Ozpin types on his desk to connect them to the dorm room and assigns them with locker numbers.

Ozpin: "There you go. They are connected to the school's system and should be able to go to their locker to store their weapons"

Hedge: "Thank you professor. That'll be all." Hedge starts to turn around to leave.

Ozpin: "Mr. Badnic. I hope your team will get along well with everyone else here at Beacon. I've heard some stories from the professors at Shade." Hedge stops and looks over his left shoulder at Ozpin.

Hedge: "I'll be sure to keep them in line." He teleports out of Ozpin's office back to the dorm room. The rest of Team HAZL is still unpacking their bags. Zion seems a bit ruffled by Hedge's sudden appearance.

Zion: "Woah. You know Hedge, I'll never get used to that ability of yours. It's very convenient. Also thanks for getting us access to the room and our lockers." He returns to cleaning his guns, Light, a white pistol that shoots ice bullets, and Shadow, a black pistol that shoots gravity bullets. His cowboy hat hanging over his chair at his desk.

Hedge: "Yeah, well wasn't hard to do when Ozpin is a bit intrigued at our abilities. Speaking of Ozpin though…" Everyone stops what they are doing and turns to look at Hedge. "There is something I want to talk to you guys about. It's pretty apparent that we have some issues to work out, mainly how we've been treating each other." Everyone starts to look at each other once Hedge brings up the statement. "But first, you guys should know something about me that I haven't shared with you all. We've been a team for three years and I've kept this secret from you." He walks to the window of the dorm room. "My semblance, which I've dubbed as 'Electric Chaos,' I never unlocked on my own. Not through training (talking about Zion), not through anger (talking about Leonidas), not out of the blue." He looks at Anne when he says that. "When I was 5, I was kidnapped from my birth family in broad daylight, by an Atlas scientist, Doctor Badnic."

Anne and Leonidas look over at Zion, whereas Zion looks intrigued at what Hedge is saying. Hedge continues, "He took me in and forcibly unlocked my semblance, but that wasn't all he did to me. He wiped my memory of who I was before he had kidnapped me. I don't even remember my birth parents, nor do I know if they're still alive. For all I know, they could've died in the Grimm attack that happened afterwards." He starts to shed a tear from his eyes. "It took me ten years to find out what he had done. In those ten years though, he groomed me to be his weapon, a weapon to be used against the General and the rest of Atlas." Zion's eyes widened at this. He wanted to say something, but he waited until Hedge finished. "Each day, I trained to strengthen my semblance. He created these yellow bands I have on my wrists and ankles to help me from using too much energy and tiring myself out, along with creating my sword, Chaos. Destruction, on the other hand, wasn't mine to begin with. When I found out what he was planning to use me for, I did the one thing I had to do to stop him." He paused, then turned to his team. "I killed him. I left no trace of him and took his sword; it has the same attributes of Chaos, after all. But before you ask, I don't plan to follow his original plan. I vowed to become a huntsman, and break the discrimination us Faunus have received."

The room is quiet. Everyone looks back and forth at each other at what has been laid out. Hedge sighs, "I know that was a lot to take in, but if anyone has anything to add or say anything else, the floor is yours."

It continues to be quiet for a bit, until Hedge breaks the silence again. "Very well then." Zion then stands up and starts to speak.

Zion: "Hedge, I'm sorry you had to go through all that for most of your life, and I'm glad that what that bastard did to you isn't going to control how you are moving forward." He looks down. "I'll be real with y'all. I only make those jabs at you guys just for fun. I know not all Faunus are bad, case and point being you guys. At first, I was skeptical being put on a team of all Faunus, and was even a little jealous that you were made team leader, Hedge." Hedge was surprised to hear that, considering he had told Ruby awhile back that he didn't believe anyone wanted to be the leader of Team HAZL instead. "But over these past years, I've seen that you guys are alright. My anger towards Faunus comes from what my family has dealt with in Atlas. We've had targets on our backs from the White Fang, because we too had taken in some Faunus as labor. We grew pretty close with the Schnee Dust Company too, having an abundance of dust to utilize for Light and Shadow here." He points at his guns, now in their holsters. Hedge speaks up.

Hedge: "You do know that the heiress of the SDC is attending Beacon too, right?" Zion looked confused.

Zion: "Really? I didn't know that. I know that we're older than her, but I still tried to keep in touch with her and her family. The last I heard was that she was trying to leave Atlas, but didn't know if she had succeeded in doing so. And no, I wasn't trying to get with her if that's what you're wondering." Anne starts to laugh and Leonidas chuckles.

Hedge looks over to them. "Anne? Leo? Anything you'd like to say about the matter?" Leo looks over to Zion.

Leonidas: "Zion, I know we butt heads quite often, and I know you don't mean ill-intent on some of the jokes. All I ask is don't go overboard with them, and I promise not to dead arm you." Zion chuckles.

Zion: "Can do." Anne looks over to Hedge.

Anne: "I know I've been asking you for your backstory, and I can see now as to why you kept that a secret from us. We are a family now, a team." She looks at all of them. "No more secrets, ok?" Everyone agrees. Zion's stomach starts to grumble.

Zion: "Well now that that is out of the way, how about some dinner? Hedge, mind showing us where the cafeteria is?"

Hedge: "I'll send you all the map of the school on your scrolls. For now, follow me. I'll even show you guys to your lockers so you can store your weapons." Before he walks away from the window, he notices Blake running out in the courtyard. He's able to make out that she is crying.

Two days later

It's Sunday morning, and there is knocking at Team HAZL's door. Hedge gets out of bed and answers the door. He's surprised to see who it is.

Hedge: "R-Ruby?"

Ruby: "Hedge, Blake ran off the other day and she hasn't returned."

Hedge: "I saw her run out into the courtyard Friday night, and I noticed her crying. Let me guess, things got out of hand with her and Weiss, didn't they?" She nods.

The rest of Team HAZL starts to wake up. Zion jumps out of his bed and joins Hedge at the door.

Zion: "Oh, is this the girl that was one-upping you with that robber when you first arrived, leader?" Hedge elbows him in the gut. "Ow. Cheap shot."

Ruby realizes that she woke them up. "Oh, sorry, I thought everyone was awake." She starts to walk away.

Hedge: "Wait Ruby. If you need the extra help to find Blake, we're willing to help. Give us some time to get ready, and we'll join you to check the city."

Ruby's face grows a smile. "Thank you Hedge." He nods back at her, and she runs back to her room. Leonidas sits up in his bed.

Leonidas: "Hold up, did I hear we were going to help find someone?"

Hedge: "Yes, we are. We are huntsmen…and huntress." Smiles at Anne. "We help others in time of need. Everyone get ready."

Team HAZL quickly gets ready and heads to join Ruby and her team for the search for Blake. Zion notices Weiss, and tips his hat at her.

Zion: "Ah. Ms. Schnee. We meet again."

Weiss: "Zion? It has been a long time, hasn't it?" Ruby and Yang are shocked.

Yang: "Wait Weiss, you two know each other?"

Weiss nods, "Mr. Venus' family is a partner of the Schnee Dust Company. My family has provided them with dust for quite some time."

Zion smiles, "Light and Shadow thank you kindly for that." Ruby breaks up the reunion.

Ruby: "Come on. We have to find Blake."

Time skip

They head off into town and decide to split up into groups. Hedge flies off with Anne holding onto him, Zion and Leo head off as a pair after Ruby shows them a picture of what Blake looks like, while the girls start to look for Blake. Anne, though a little scared being so high up in the air and clinging onto Hedge for dear life, starts to ask a question.

Anne: "Hedge, this girl, Blake. Had you seen anything that may have caused her to run away?"

Hedge: "When Team RWBY was formed, I met Weiss and Blake, as I had met Ruby and Yang when I was flying to Beacon. Weiss thought I was part of the White Fang, or previously in the group, just because I was a Faunus. I noticed Blake had not taken lightly to her tone, plus I noticed her bow on her head, so my suspicions were high if she was a Faunus or not too. On Friday, those suspicions grew."

Hedge notices something below at a coffee shop. "Down there. I see her." Anne looks below where Hedge is looking and sees the bow Hedge was talking about, as well as another Faunus that Blake was with. They land on the roof of the building to not scare them. They're able to hear the monkey Faunus' name Sun, and that Blake had been a member of the White Fang before, and how she is now hiding in plain sight, all thanks to her bow.

Hedge: " Well, I had suspicions that you were a Faunus, Blake, but I'll admit, I didn't know you were actually a White Fang member."

Blake and Sun are startled by Hedge's voice and look up at the roof behind Blake to see Hedge and Anne.

Blake: "Hedge?! What are you doing here? Who is that with you?"

Hedge: "Easy Blake, I mean no harm. This is Anne, one of my teammates. Your team is out looking for you, and I offered my team to help look for you as well. I know what Weiss said about the Faunus and the White Fang may have set you off, but trust me when I say I understand the frustration of not being treated as equal."

Blake starts to calm down. Hedge continues, "I'm sure Ruby has told you about my backstory." She nods at him. "Then you know I don't want anything to do with that bastard scientist that I share a last name with. I still have it because I don't remember who I was before, but his last name is a reminder of the life I lost and want to start anew." Anne grabs onto his arm, and Hedge also starts to calm down. She speaks up.

Anne: "Come on, let's all take a walk."

Brief time skip

The 4 of them walk down the street for a bit before Sun breaks the silence. "So what's the plan now?"

Blake: "I still don't believe it's the White Fang behind all these robberies. For all we know, it could be that Roman Torchwick guy, right Hedge?"

Hedge: "It could be, but who knows if it's just him committing them."

Anne: "Wouldn't it best to still see if it's the White Fang doing the robberies or not?"

Sun: "Yeah, we should go to the place where the robbery would happen and not find them there doing it."

Blake: "But I don't know where the next place would be."

Sun: "Actually, I heard something on the ship about some big Schnee Dust Company crates being dropped off by boat tonight at the docks."

Hedge: "Then let's go. If that's the target, we'll be there to stop whoever shows up."

Time skip

A few hours pass, and Blake, Hedge and Anne are overlooking the crates that were dropped off. Sun returns to them.

Sun: "Did I miss anything?"

Hedge responds, "No, they unloaded all the crates off the ship, but now they're just sitting there."

Sun: "Cool. I stole you guys some food," showing off some apples.

Blake looks at Sun. "Do you always break the law without a second thought?"

Sun: "Hey, weren't you in a cult or something?" Blake shows an angered face at Sun, while Hedge mouths "Wow" and Anne just silently chuckles.

Sun: "Ok, too soon."

Moments later, an airship flies over and lands next to the crates. A person with a mask walks off the airship yelling to grab some cables.

Blake notices the symbol on the back of their shirt. "Oh no." Hedge and Anne see the symbol too.

Hedge having seen the symbol before in Doctor Badnic's notes before, states, "White Fang."

Sun: "You didn't want to believe it was them, huh?"

Blake: "I had feeling it was. I just didn't want to be right."

They all hear a man's voice, "Hey! What's the hold up?!" Hedge's ears perk up when he hears the familiar voice.

Hedge: "Wait a minute. I know that voice." They see Torchwick walk out from the airship telling the rest of the White Fang to pick up the pace.

Blake looks confused. "This isn't right. The White Fang would never work with a human, especially not one like that." She takes out her blade and jumps down.

Sun calls out, "Hey wait. What are you doing?" Hedge and Anne look at each other and start to follow behind Blake. Blake then ambushes Torchwick from behind, holding her sword by his throat while the White Fang members surround them. Hedge and Anne stay hidden behind one of the crates, waiting for the right moment to strike. Blake takes off her bow to address the White Fang members.

Blake: "Brothers of the White Fang. Why are you aiding this scum?" The Faunus look puzzled by her words, while Torchwick laughs.

Torchwick: "Didn't you get the memo?"

Blake: "What are you talking about?"

Torchwick: "The White Fang and I are going in on a joint business venture together." Blake puts her blade closer up against Torchwick's neck.

Blake: "Tell me what is, or I'll put an end to your little operation."

Two more airships arrive, which distracts Blake to allow Torchwick to blast the ground at their feet. This causes Blake to lose her hold on him. The explosion gets the attention of the rest of Team RWBY and Zion and Leonidas. They all start to head straight to where the action is happening. Leonidas decides to take off his jacket to spread his wings, informing Zion to grab hold, which he does, and they fly over.

More White Fang members join in to help, which now an all-out brawl is happening. Hedge and Anne join in the fray to handle the White Fang members while Blake and Sun fight Torchwick. Anne utilizes her semblance and her Piko to either bash or blow up White Fang members. Sun whips out his staff, which doubles as nun chucks…with gun barrels. Torchwick drops the cables of one of the crates and drops it in between everyone, and he ends up pointing his cane's barrel at Sun. All of a sudden, Ruby arrives along with Penny on the roof of one of the nearby warehouses. She is distracted however by Penny, which allows Torchwick to blast Ruby away. Penny ends getting mad and joins in the battle, summoning swords from her backside.

Hedge notices this and ponders. "Is she…an android?"

Penny makes short work of the remaining White Fang members, even taking some of the airships that arrive with a giant laser created by her swords, and drags down an airship trying to escape with a Schnee Dust Company crate. Torchwick manages to escape however amongst the chaos that was happening, but he was unsuccessful in stealing any of the dust crates. The police arrive soon after, along with Leo and Zion flying in and Yang and Weiss on foot.

Zion: "Drat. Missed all the action."

Ruby tries to talk to Weiss about Blake being a Faunus and no longer being a White Fang member, but she still walks up to Blake.

Blake: "Weiss, I want you to know I'm no longer associated with the White Fang. Back when I was…"

Weiss: "Stop. Do you know how long we have been searching for you? 12 hours. Which means I had 12 hours to think about it, and I've decided…I don't really care." Everyone looks surprised.

Blake: "You don't?"

Weiss: "You said you aren't affiliated with them, right?"

Blake: "No, not since I was younger…"

Weiss: "I don't want to hear it. All I want is that the next time something like this comes up, you come to your teammates, and not some…" She looks at Sun, Hedge and Anne. "Someone else."

Blake smiles at Weiss. "Of course."

Everyone has a smile on their face, but Ruby soon notices that Penny wasn't with them anymore. Hedge also notices this and thinks, "So she was an android. If she's from Atlas, someone had to have succeeded in making her. I remember the Doctor talking about that when I first started training with my semblance."

Unbeknownst to everyone, Professor Ozpin is watching a camera feed of them all at the docks. His tablet beeps with a message from someone with the name "Qrow" stating 'Queen has pawns.' This leaves Ozpin puzzled.

(A/N) A long chapter, but it's the Volume 1 Finale chapter, what do you expect? I forgot to put the intro song in this rewrite for this volume at the beginning of each chapter and the choice I had was Legends Are Made by Sam Tinnesz. Next we move onto Volume 2. Catch you all then.
