It had been a day just like any other. All Might was still the Number 1 hero, with Endeavor chasing not far behind as 2nd place. Nobody had any clue that this would be the day that the world would change forever.

It all started that morning in Musutafu General Hospital where a doctor was reviewing the Quirk Diagnosis for one Izuku Midoriya.

"Well, doctor? What's the verdict?" Hisashi Midoriya asked nervously, holding an extremely excited Izuku in his lap, judging by the fact that the young boy was practically vibrating in excitement.

Hisashi was worried. Really worried. If Izuku's Quirk was as weak as his and Inko's was... It would crush the poor boy's dreams of being a hero. That wasn't even getting into the very real possibility that Izuku could be Quirkless. It was rare, sure, but it was still a possibility and while Hisashi knew in his heart that a lack of a Quirk would never make him or Inko love their boy any less...

...the world wouldn't share that sentiment. It would eat Izuku alive if he didn't have a Quirk.

"It's very... peculiar." Doctor Sanada admitted, looking through his notes. "All our tests confirm that your son certainly does have a quirk. Matter of fact, his Quirk Factor is through the roof. We just have no idea what it is. Tell me, were either of you late bloomers when your Quirks manifested?"

Inko glanced at her husband questioningly before shaking her head. "No, my Quirk came the day after my 4th birthday. And my husband's quirk manifested his a week after his 4th birthday. But Izuku just turned 5."

Doctor Sanada nodded. "I see. I think it's safe to say that Izuku certainly has a Quirk, we just don't know when it'll manifest. However, judging by the fact that his quirk isn't acting like either of your quirks when they manifested, there is an extremely high likelihood that his Quirk will be nothing like either of yours."

"But... I can still be a hero, right?" Izuku finally asked nervously.

It was Hisashi who answered with a smile. "Son, it doesn't matter what kind of Quirk you have. You absolutely can be a hero, and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise. Now what do you say we all head home and have your favorite for dinner?"

Doctor Sanada chuckled as he watched the family leave, wishing nothing but the best for the small boy.

Just as the Midoriya family were walking to the parking lot did the first signs of impossible change begin.

"Mom, Dad! It's snowing!" Izuku yelled with a giggle.

"In July?" Hisashi questioned, looking up at the glittering objects falling from the heavens.

As it happened, it was not snowing. Instead, something far more peculiar was occurring: Billions, if not trillions of tiny cerulean crystals were gently falling to the Earth all over the world, one of which happened to fall into the eager hands of Izuku Midoriya. This one seemed to unique, as unlike the rest of the crystals, this one was as green as the boy's hair, roughly the size of Hizashi's fist and appeared rectangular in shape, with two fine points on the bottom of the crystal.

But what exactly were these crystals?

They were called core crystals. As of yet, nobody knew what exactly they were, save that they were pretty blue jewels. As such, many people began to use them for jewelry, unaware of the power that the Core Crystals had inside, as there was nobody yet in this universe who could unlock their true potential...

Aldera Elementary School, 3 years later...

"Still nothing, huh?" Katsuki asked, looking at the dejected look on his best friends face. He fully believed Izuku when the verdette relayed what the doctor said. Izuku had a Quirk, it just hadn't shown up yet. Now at 7 years old, it sure was taking it's sweet time.

That didn't matter though. That just meant Katsuki had to fight for Izuku until his Quirk came in.

"That's cause the doctor was just getting Deku's hopes up! Face it, Bakugo. You're best friend is Quirkless" A snide voice taunted from behind them.

Case in point...

"Shut up, Copycat! You're no better! If you weren't copying your cronies, you'd basically be Quirkless too!" Katsuki growled back, only stopping when he felt Izuku's hand on his shoulder.

"Let's just go, Kacchan. He's not worth it." The boy said, turning to leave.

"I don't think so, Deku!" The snide bully remarked, grabbing one of his cronies and using his Quirk to extend his fingers, grabbing hold of the pendant around Izuku's neck, the green crystal from that day. "You see, I really like this... I think I'm gonna keep it!"

"GIVE IT BACK, MONOMA!" Katsuki roared, firing off an explosion at the boy, who just blocked it by copying his other cronie's Shock Absorption Quirk.

"No, if Deku wants it pack, then the little runt can get it himself." Monoma sneered, dangling the pendant around his finger before suddenly dropping it with a yelp, as though it had burned his hand.

At the same time, Izuku found himself engulfed in red hot flames, surrounding the boy head to toe until just as suddenly as the flames arrived, they dispersed, revealing Izuku carrying a massive crimson blade, the infernal blaze being housed within as his body seemed to glow with an ethereal white glow.

"Give...It...BACK!" He yelled, pointing the blade at Monoma, who immediately ran away at the sight, the emerald Core Crystal flying towards the blade and socketing itself inside.

Katsuki watched in awe at his best friend. This is what a Quirk Awakening was like? This was the moment that Katsuki Bakugo realized that yes, Izuku could be a hero. Probably even better than him... No, definitely better than him. It didn't upset him as much as he thought it would though.

However, with such a powerful Quirk, that also meant an equally powerful backlash using said Quirk for the first time.

Case in point, how Izuku immediately collapsed following his awakening, the Emerald Core Crystal now finding itself embedded in Izuku's chest.

Immediately, Katsuki picked up his best friend and carried him to the nurse's office, explaining what had happened to him.

As the nurse dismissed Katsuki, he took one last glance at his friend with a smile. "Your Quirk is just as cool as mine, Izuku."

When Izuku opened his eyes, he was laying on someone's lap, a gentle breeze in the air.

"Where...?" He asked, letting eyes adjust as he saw the kindest green eyes looking down at him.

"Don't worry, you're okay. We're in your head right now. Your body couldn't handle the power and you needed to sleep for a while." The woman said.

"My... My Quirk came in?" Izuku asked, the memories flooding back. "My Quirk came in! It was that sword! It must be an Emitter Quirk! But how does it work? Is it emotion based? I remember being really, really angry and-"

"Breathe..." The woman said with a giggle. "Yes, your Quirk came in, but it was not that sword."

"It's not...? Then what is my Quirk?" Izuku asked the woman.

"It's called Resonance. Those crystals that fell from the heavens are a key aspect of your Quirk. You have the unique ability to resonate with those Core Crystals and awaken the spirits within, granting you their weapons and their strengths. These beings are called Blades, and they are your sword and your shield. I am one of those Blades, and the sword you wielded is mine, known as the Aegis."

"The Aegis... Then what is your name?" Izuku asked.

The woman giggled. "True, I didn't tell you my name." She said, smiling. "Forgive me, my name is Pyra. And you, Izuku, are this worlds only Driver."

Not long after, Izuku blearily opened his eyes, awakening in the nurse's office, seeing his family's anxious faces. "I think my Quirk awakened." He said with a wide smile.

Hisashi chuckled, ruffling his son's hair as the young boy sat up. "Of course that's what you care about." He said fondly. "Well, don't leave us in suspense. Show us!"

With a wide smile, Izuku leapt out of the small bed and held his hand out, his body being covered once again with that white glow as the Aegis appeared in his hand, summoning Pyra to his side as well.

"Who are you?!" Inko shrieked, seeing the red haired woman, fearing the worst for her baby boy.

"Mom it's okay! Her name is Pyra, she's part of my Quirk! She explained how it works while I was sleeping!" Izuku said quickly, filling his parents in on the information about his Quirk and what the crystals were.

"Doesn't Mitsuki still have her pendant with one of those crystals, dear?" Hisashi asked, wondering if Izuku could resonate with the crystal.

"Yes she does. You don't think..." Inko trailed off.

"Only one way to find out." Hisashi nodded.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this first chapter! I had this idea while working a shift at my new job (repetitive actions go brrrr) and so here we are! Welcome to Aegis, my new take on the MHA story by including elements from the Xenoblade Chronicles series! For right now, the only MAJOR elements that will be seen are Blades. So without further Ado, let me start by explaining the BIGGEST change:

Name: Izuku Midoriya

Quirk: Resonance

Description: Resonance allows its user to summon the spirits inside Core Crystals, giving the user access to the weapons and strengths of those spirits, known as Blades. While the user can resonate with as many Core Crystals as they want, they can only ever have 3 Blades summoned at one time. While it is unlikely, it is believed that damage done to the Blade can be reflected back to the Driver, though this type of damage could only occur if the bond between Driver and Blade exceeds the natural maximum affinity between the two.

Now, with that out of the way, I want to clarify that elements of Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will EVENTUALLY appear, I'm currently still working on how that's going to work but I have some ideas cooking. Also, the only characters from the games will show up that I have planned are the Blades... kind of. You'll see what I mean eventually.

Until then, I hope you all enjoyed and as always, drive the speed limit, drink some water, and of course, love one another. Pizza!
