PART 1

Newscast of Lucy's Execution and other stories

Our top story for this morning, Lucy Van Pelt, notorious perpetrator of the raid on the home of Charlie Brown, author of the book "Blockhead", which is based on his life and the exploits of Ms. Van Pelt, was executed at midnight last night by lethal injection, for the murders of Christina Locke and Margaret Graham. She was also charged with the attempted murder and assault of Mr. Brown's girlfriend Heather Wold. According to prison officials, Ms. Van Pelt had no last words, which most folks were surprised about, as Ms. Van Pelt had a history of going on rambling tangents and raving speeches about how she was, and I quote, a "Wisdom Goddess". Mr. Brown's book had since been turned into a highly successful movie and is rumored to be nominated for "Best Biopic" and "Movie of the Year" at the awards.

We reached out to the Van Pelt family and Mr. Brown for their response to the execution. A representative for Mr. Brown left this statement:

"With the execution of Lucy Van Pelt brings an end to years of torment and suffering to Charlie Brown and his loved ones. He hopes that he can finally leave this chapter of his life behind once and for all."

The Van Pelts could not be reached for comment, except for her estranged brother Linus Van Pelt, a veteran of the army. He gave an interview shortly after the execution.

"My sister was evil-incarnate. Never mind the abuse she heaped on me and my brother, along with our good-for-nothing parents joining her, what she did to Charlie, who's also my best friend, was criminal in itself. She had no remorse, and, probably even as the chemicals ending her. They say never talk ill of the dead. But in Lucy's case, I think most would make an exception due to how insanely evil she was. She probably down in hell right now, paying for her sins. All I know is that all of us can breathe easier with her out of the picture permanently."

In other news, ironically related to Charlie Brown, Andrew Baker, controversial former principal of Cold Plain High School in Texas and author of "Up the Creek", was found dead in his prison cell last night. The perpetrators just so happen to be former Cold Plain students that had Baker as their principal. According to police, they made a full confession, stating that they had suffered from abuse from Baker and the school staff that they were never right once they got out. The two men were already serving time for unrelated charges, and will probably get life sentences for the slaying. Mr. Baker and Mr. Brown once made an infamous appearance on the TV show Opposing Views promoting both of their books, which erupted in the two men getting in a fight on live television. Mr. Brown faced no charges as he was defending himself against Mr. Baker, who was the aggressor. We will have more information as this story is still ongoing.

Also in the news, the saga of the lottery winnings of Dagwood Bumstead continues. His former boss, Julius Dithers, was unceremoniously and literally thrown out of the company he founded by a newly-formed Board of Directors. His actions to try to sue for Mr. Bumstead's winnings and years of abuse from him towards his employees, which Mr. Bumstead was almost always his main target, played a role in his ousting from the construction company he started years ago. His wife is reported to have started divorce proceedings, but as of now, this is just rumor.

When we return, Marie will have the weather, and then in sports, Melendez High School's football team may go to the championship.

Martin receives a surprise visit from a familiar face

This is what it's like to be Martin Grey.

All you wanted was to keep the status quo. To keep your daughter happy. And now look at you. Serving a minimal ten years in prison, being violated by every prisoner that knows what you've done to Charlie Brown and tried to do to him and his family. Some tell you that they were just like Charlie and harbor animosity towards ANY kind of adult who bullies a kid. You hear about some of the other students, parents, and staff that also been locked away. The ones who get killed in prison are the lucky ones, you think to yourself. THEY don't have to suffer anymore. But you and most of the others are still in there and with you being one of the main perpetrators of Charlie's abuse, although you were one of the rare ones to NOT lay a hand on him, the prisoners hold you in complete disdain. You are coveted by the other prisoners. Not even the Arian Brotherhood is willing to protect you, even if you offer them "favors". Now you realize the despair that you and your daughter placed on Charlie, and now you feel guilt over it.

Martin was escorted to a room where visitors see loved ones or their lawyers. His current lawyer wasn't there. He was wondering if his wife sobered up enough to come visit. No such luck. Martin did see someone he knew; someone he turned his back on because they refused to help him keep Charlie in Sparkyville so Violet could torture him some more.

It was his former lawyer Vincent Klein.

He had warned Martin on what would happen if he tried to keep Charlie and his family from moving away. Martin didn't listen and, obviously, his being in prison was the result of that. Instead of the five hundred thousand they initially agreed on, or even the five million that was originally asked for by the Browns, Martin ended up paying twice as much after his participating in Operation: Blockhead. Martin sat at the seat and picked up the receiver to speak to his former attorney.

"What are you doing here, Vince?" he asked.

Vincent looked at his former client. "I just want to know one thing, Mr. Grey. I already know what your daughter wanted. I already know what the entire Wallstone High students, staff, and parents wanted. And I already know what Lucy Van Pelt wanted. What did you have to gain from keeping Charlie Brown here? What was your endgame to this?"

Martin hung his head and shook it. "All I wanted was to keep my little girl happy," he said. "I know how much of a mess she was, still is. I just wanted her to be happy. Hurting Charlie actually kept her calm. I can't speak on everyone else's motives, especially Ms. Van Pelt, but that was my motive."

It was then Vincent finally understood why he wanted to keep Charlie there. It wasn't because he wanted to see him suffer like everyone else did. He had to keep him suffering for his little girl.

"I figured I could keep the rest of the vultures off of him so Violet could have him all to herself," Martin said, dryly and tired. "I know it makes me no better than them, but it's the truth, Vince. You have to believe me."

"You know what's sad, Martin?" Vincent said. "The sad thing is, I do believe you. Which makes you even more pathetic than the other monsters, your daughter included, that abused Charlie." And Vincent hung up his receiver and left without looking back. After a moment, Martin did the same and returned to his cell.
