Chapter 7

The Disaster of Operation Oppenheimer

September 4th, 2004, 11:25 A.M.

United Nations military embassy, Tokyo, Japan.

International Godzilla Emergency Countermeasure Coalition meeting #5.

Cameras clicked madly, and foreign reporters clamored while waving notebooks around. The United States military ambassador, Kart Emrich, sat down with a pair of Japanese generals and a few British army representatives, along with a North Korean emissary and a Russian military diplomat.

The acting Japanese Prime Minister, Ketrano Uvilashan, sat across the table near a middle-aged JSDF commander, and a Canadian Air Force captain soon joined the meeting alongside a French army ambassador.

"Godzilla has become more dangerous than he already was." JSDF Ambassador Tokorashi said with great urgency, "Recently, an entire navy force was wiped out by his growing nuclear power, and Gamera was sent into full retreat after engaging him in another battle that ended up being brief."

"And recently..." A general added, "We received word that a fishing vessel off our coast was sunk by Godzilla, bringing to mind similar incidents in 1954. Something must be done, and we can't just stand by while the world stands on the brink of a radioactive disaster in the making."

General Morakari took the stand, "With our partners in the United States, we have conceptualized a mission that may be vital, but also dangerous. We call this... Operation Oppenheimer, a full-scale attack on Godzilla, with every weapon imaginable at our disposal. Balistic missiles, and the new freeze missile."

"We should nuke him." A Russian remarked, "Our scientists started developing an Omega Bomb, capable of wiping out the likes of irradiated beasts like Godzilla."

"No." Emrich said as he stood, "The use of nuclear weapons will worsen the situation, and could trigger a chain reaction that may spell the end of our civilization. Godzilla is growing more radioactive, and likely unstable, meaning the use of nuclear weaponry is off the table."

"According to an intelligence report, Godzilla is heading for Hokkaido." Kentrano added, "We have begun preparations, and the operation will commence in 0200 hours time. Godzilla cannot continue to ravage our civilization, nor can he continue to wreak havoc upon all of mankind."

"Operation Oppenheimer is a go." A general said with great urgency.

September 4th, 2004, 1:05 P.M.

Pacific Ocean, Hokkaido Bay, near the Japanese shoreline.

Water steamed and boiled intensely, bright lights flashed beneath the waves, and Godzilla rose from the depths. The monster's mouth opened, and his vocal cords quaked as the titanic dinosaur let off a thundering roar, "GYAOOOOOOOOOOON!"

In moments, Japanese and American military forces were scrambling, along with a couple Canadian units. Aircraft carriers rolled into positions, and jet fighters took to the sky. Heavily-armed battleships sat by near the shoreline, ready for battle, with the crews facing Godzilla as bravely as possible.

Commander Bryne Hushaki, an American leader of Japanese descent, gazed upon the King of The Monsters in all of his radioactive glory through a pair of binoculars.

He lowered the viewing lenses, and shouted the command, "ALL FORCES! FIRE!"

F-43s and Red Sun Hawks streaked in, with the pilots' sights on their target. Guns blazed to life, and missiles streaked across the sky. Godzilla snarled as a projectile exploded against him, and several planes whooshed around his head, firing all they had. The American-Japanese armada opened fire, and the Pacific became a battle zone once again.

Fighters took flight from a JSDF aircraft carrier, and whipped past Godzilla's head, firing shot after shot upon the behemoth, while an ice-white missile from a battleship screamed over the sea before crashing into the gargantuan dinosaur's neck.

"Keep your eye on the target!" USAF Captain Hossed told his fellow pilots, "And watch out for his nuclear pulse! It's like lasers from the body!"

"This is Green Bird 4!" A pilot said, "I'm going in for another pass!"

Green Bird 4 flipped around, and fired a round on the irradiated beast. Godzilla snarled, and the plane pivoted, flying away from the titanic monarch as quickly as possible. A pair of well-polished bombers flew over Godzilla's position, with the bomb-bay doors rolling open the moment they were over his head.

A flurry of bombs fell forth, and screamed towards the King of The Monsters before exploding around him. A bomb crashed onto the beast's back, and part of his dorsal plates vanished in a fiery blast.

Godzilla growled, and swiped at a passing jet fighter that shot at him. His claws missed, and another plane passed by, taking a hard shot at the gigantic fire-breathing reptile. The fireworks lit the skies and the seas, as the planes and ships unleashed it all, encircling the gargantuan kaiju in a near-complete pincher movement.

More ice-white missiles shot from the battleships, and exploded around Godzilla's body. Hints of ice began to appear in the steaming water around the beast, and across every inch of his body, all while the bombers above continued their bombing run.

"SKREEEEEEOOOOOOOONNNNGK!" Godzilla raged, and his dorsal plates lit up like lights on a Christmas tree. More missiles exploded around him, and more traces of ice appeared around the beast, causing his movements to slow for a time. A pair of jet fighters streaked towards him, and their gun barrels quaked as the pilots shot at the back of the monster's head.

"I think we have him!" Canadian pilot Verty remarked with a chuckle.

Just then, a bright orange light flashed across Godzilla's body, and the glow of his dorsal plates became brighter than ever. Rays of nuclear energy streaked out of the behemoth, and a pair of jet fighters exploded in the air. Godzilla snarled, and fired off a large beam of radioactive fire at the attacking battleships.

"EVASIVE ACTION!" Captain Rond of the Battleship Jock yelled, "EVASIVE... AHHHHHHHH!"

The Jock went up in a ball of flame, along with the other ships, as Godzilla unleashed his destructive nuclear power upon the coalition force. One by one, every aircraft carrier, fighter jet, battleship, and bomber, with every pilot and sailor, was incinerated by the titanic dinosaur's great powers.

Fires illuminated the sea, and smoke rose into the sky. Godzilla turned his attention to a pair of jets that were still in the air, and let out another burst of nuclear fire that obliterated them in moments. Godzilla turned, and advanced towards the shoreline, with no opposition in his way.
