More precious than Mjollnir

Clarke Griffin rolled her eyes as she watched Steve, Clint and Sam talking about being able to lift Thor's hammer. All of them could, it was just that they had pretended that they couldn't, for Thor's sake.

Stark and Rhodes and Banner had all really tried.

The reason why they hadn't been able to lift the hammer was simple. It wasn't that they weren't "worthy" like Thor said. But it was that the hammer didn't like them.

That was it. That was all.

It wasn't about "being worthy," it was just that Mjollnir was very picky about who picked it up.

But Rogers, Wilson and Barton? They were another story. They could lift the hammer, but they had pretended that they couldn't, not wanting to make Thor feel inadequate.

Everyone already knew that Clarke was worthy of Mjollnir. They had seen her lift the hammer before during battle.

Honestly, Clarke was sure that the fact that she could lift the hammer, meant that Mjollnir had a weird idea of what "worthy" meant.

It was why Clarke didn't see it as a big deal. For some reason Mjollnir liked her.

Besides, Clarke had someone who was so much more precious than Mjollnir.

Clarke looked over at where Natasha Romanoff and Maria Hill were talking at a table.

She smiled. Well, two people who were so much more precious than Mjollnir.

Author's note:

And yes, that's actually the gag with Thor's hammer. It's not that someone has to be "worthy" to be able to lift the hammer. It's that the hammer has to like you. I have no idea why. I think that's actually mentioned one time in the comics.
