Hello and welcome to another experimental fanfic of Boku no Hero Academia, in which a new inspiration popped into my head in an unexpected way, as this will be another first MHA fanfiction which Izuku Midoriya will star, but in a very different way.
In the manga and anime, he was born Quirkless and aspired to become a hero like All Might, but was turned down before being given the OFA Quirk. Here an experimental idea popped in to my head, in which a couple of sources gave me ideas to make another experimental story.
First part of the inspiration was the MHA manga arc, the Villain Hunt, in which Midoriya was slowly becoming a jaded person after witnessing the results of the Paranormal Liberation War that devastated the entire city, and is forced to harden his resolve and becoming somewhat withdrawn.
Another source of inspiration is the anime from the 1992 manga and the 2001 anime titled X/1999, which is made by CLAMP, and animated by Madhouse. This started when I was listening to my MP3 player and listened to the theme song, namely the opening song ex Dream that was sung by Myuji.
Driven by curiosity and that I was a fan of CLAMP's other works, such as Cardcaptor Sakura and Magic Knight Rayearth, I decided to download the X/1999 episodes and watched the anime about a a two weeks ago and there an idea popped into my head and thought of using this element and have it apply on the MHA story. It wasn't easy as I had to figure out who would be the lead characters besides Midoriya, until Mirio Togata came into my mind.
Another challenge that came was which MHA characters would I bring in since part of the plot is about gathering members for the two factions: Dragons Of Heaven and Dragons Of Earth, as this would mean turning some of the fave MHA characters into antagonists, and who would be the ones that would…
And well, the rest is history. This fic will combine elements of tragedy and some supernatural situations, so there will be a lot of character deaths while actions will be a bit over the violence level though I'll see if I could maintain the T-rating since it's all about action and some violence…

Ch. 1: Osoroshī yokan
The scene shifts outside the manor of theShie Hassaikai, where the various pro heroes and the police worked together as they fought a group who are behind the series of crimes such as robbery and selling of Quirk-erasing bullets, which resulted in a fierce battle, which culminated in a violent showdown between Izuku Midoriya andnKai Chisaki, in which several pro heroes, includingnSir Nighteye, were critically injured.
In the end, Midoriya managed to defeat Chisaki and rescued Eri, and the police went on to arrest the remaining members of the gang.
Several hours later, the scene shifts at a hospital, where Midoriya underwent some check-up to see if he suffered any potential injuries that might require confinement if the injury is life-threatening, but after a thorough check, the doctor tells the boy that he is medically cleared and he can go home now, which the younger boy nodded.
"Really?"
"Yes."
"…"
"You are lucky that your arm did not suffer any major damage, otherwise your arm would've been amputated."
"I…"
"So you should be careful from now on."
"Yes."
"Now then…"
The doctor was then compelled to question the boy about the rather deep scar on his right arm, but then Aizawa came and told the doctor that he is here to pick Midoriya up, and the doctor nodded as he tells the UA teacher that the boy is cleared for discharge and has nothing to worry about.
Nodding, Aizawa took Midoriya and left the doctor's office, where the two talked while he apologized to Midoriya for not being there when needed though Midoriya assured that it is okay as what is important is that Chisaki is defeated and Eri rescued.
"I see. That's good to hear."
"It's fine, sensei. Nothing major happened to me."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"Fine."
"Really, sensei. You don't have to worry."
"…"
"…"
There Midoriya asked how are the others are doing, in which Aizawa said that while some took quite a beating, they will be okay, as their injuries are not serious and that they will recover in a few days from now.
The students Aizawa mentioned were shown resting inside their hospital rooms, most of them covered in bandages. They are:
- Eijiro Kirishima
- Mirio Togata
- Tamaki Amajiki
- Fat Gum
- Rock Lock
Aizawa told Midoriya that the three UA students are resting and that they should recover in about two days from now, which made the younger boy feel at ease, but then changed the subject when he asked about Eri's situation, and there Aizawa said that for now she is being quarantined, which surprised the younger boy as he is told that for now he can't see her due to strict observation due to her Rewind Quirk which she has no control over.
Aizawa reasoned that her Quirk affects only living things and not inanimate objects, and taking her emotional state into consideration, he said that training her on how to control her Quirk will not be an easy task after the suffering she endured in Chisaki's hands.
"And that's the situation…"
"Eri…"
"For now…let the doctors do their jobs."
"…"
"For the time being…this is for the best."
"I…"
"Right now you have an important task to do…"
"Eh…?"
As the two walked towards the Intensive Care Unit, Midoriya was slightly startled when a hand touched his shoulder, who turn out to be Nejire Hado, as she came to check on Mirio Togata, and as Midoriya asked her how he is doing, Hado assured that Togata will be okay and he would recover soon, saying that his upbeat demeanor will pull him through.
Midoriya nodded as he is relieved to hear that Togata didn't suffer any major injuries, and there she asked how Midoriya is doing, which he said that he is okay now and is already discharged from the hospital, which Hado appeared relieved to hear this.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"That's good to hear…"
"Sorry if you got…"
"Don't worry. It's fine."
"Really, Hado-senpai?"
"Yup."
"…"
As Aizawa led Midoriya inside the ICU, Hado followed, where they were greeted by a surprising turn of events, as a few people stood there looking somber and are bracing for the worst possible outcome no one ever wanted, which Midoriya had a feeling that something bad is about to happen, and this made the 9th Holder of the One For All Quirk feel very uneasy.
The people assembled are shown:
- All Might
- Recovery Girl
- Bubble Girl
- Centipeder
Two sudden guests were there, which turn out to be Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki, as before coming to the hospital All Might was escorting them after a day's remedial classes for the provisional hero license exams, and upon getting a call he was told of Nighteye's situation, All Might rushed here and Bakugo and Todoroki came along, and there Midoriya asked everyone what is going on here, in which Bubble Girl bursts into tears as Centipeder consoled her while All Might was somber as well, which Midoriya became more apprehensive as he slowly had an idea of what is about to happen, and there the doctor said that Nighteye won't last long, and said that normally injuries like this would cause a victim to die in a matter of minutes, yet he is amazed that Nighteye was able to hold on this long.
"And that's the situation…"
"No…"
"The injuries Nighteye received were fatal."
"Nighteye…"
"It is a mystery on how he was able to hold on till now…"
"…"
"At any rate…there's nothing I can do…"
"…"
Midoriya then shifts his attention to Recovery Girl and asked her if she could do something, which the elderly female school nurse of UA Academy sadly said that there is nothing her Quirk can do at this point and said she tried everything she could.
This made Midoriya more shocked at hearing this and Hado became quite worried at seeing his devastated reaction.
"Midoriya-kun…"
"…"
"It's okay…"
"…"
"Be strong…"
"…"
"Just hang in there…"
"…"
Midoriya rushed to Nighteye and told him to hold on, saying that All Might is here, and urged him to keep on living, which everyone were surprised to hear Midoriya say this, and this spurred All Might to speak to Nighteye, and the two finally buried the hatchet, while telling him that All Might did the right thing about choosing his successor.
Togata came, limping due to his injuries not fully healed and urged Nighteye to keep on living. He was in tears as he didn't want his mentor to die. Nighteye smiled while silently and secretly apologize to Togata for trying to use him as a vessel for One For All, and there he mentally felt relieved that Midoriya has somewhat managed to prove that the Foresight Quirk can be changed in terms of result, and seeing that he is able to reconcile with All Might, Nighteye felt that he can pass away in peace.
Nighteye then glanced at Togata, and uses his Foresight Quirk, believing that a good future can be SEEN for Togata, but suddenly, his expression turned into a horrifying shock as he SAW the future which Togata is involved in, where the following images flashed into the dying pro hero's mind:
- Togata appearing to have turned into a malevolent being
- He is standing on top of Tokyo Tower looking over Tokyo which appeared to be in ruins;
- Togata appeared to be wielding a rather DEMONIC SWORD;
- Some UA Academy students serve Togata and are leading a malevolent movement
A horrified Nighteye then glanced at Midoriya and uses the Foresight Quirk, and saw something within Midoriya, and the TRAGEDY he is going to encounter, and this made Nighteye becoming more concerned and tried to get up as he intend to tell Togata and Midoriya what he saw just now.
Both Togata and Midoriya were alarmed at seeing the distressed look on Nighteye and the two boys tried to get Nighteye to calm down, urging him to not act rashly and to conserve his strength.
"Nighteye!"
"Sir!"
"Calm down!"
"Sir! Don't strain yourself!"
"What is it, Nighteye?"
"Sir! What's wrong?"
"Are you trying to tell us something?"
"Sir!"
Bubble Girl and Centipeder noticed it as well and the two tried to get Nighteye to calm down, believing that their Agency leader is about to pass away and the two wanted him to relax and not show signs of suffering.
"Centipeder…"
"…"
"He…he's…"
"It looks like it will be a matter of time…"
"No…!"
"…"
"Nighteye!"
"…"
While Todoroki is baffled at what is happening, Bakugo also noticed Nighteye's horrifying expression after glancing at Midoriya and Togata, and this made Bakugo suspect something though he wondered what kind of connection is as Nighteye is gripping firmly on Midoriya and Togata.
"Something is definitely up. Nighteye must've used his Quirk…but he had a terrifying reaction towards Deku…but also towards Togata-senpai…what did Nighteye see…?"
All Might is starting to feel uneasy at what he is seeing, as Nighteye is struggling to speak and noticed that his former sidekick is looking horrified as he pointed his finger at Togata and Midoriya, and Recovery Girl is also feeling uneasy as she sensed that Nighteye may have SEEN something via his Quirk and confided to All Might about her suspicions.
"What…?"
"It appears that Nighteye used his Quirk…and may have seen something which ticked him off…"
"Are you…?"
"That's what I think…"
"…"
"I wonder what he saw using his Foresight…"
"…"
"…"
All Might looked shocked at what he was told, and then saw Nighteye holding Midoriya and Togata's hands, looking like he is pleading to the two boys, which caused both the two boys to become more baffled than before.
"Nighteye!"
"Sir!"
"Calm down!"
"Sir! Don't strain yourself!"
"What is it, Nighteye?"
"Sir! What's wrong?"
"Are you trying to tell us something?"
"Sir!"
After several seconds, Sir Nighteye passed away, and both Midoriya and Togata wailed in sorrow, as well as Bubble Girl and Centipeder, while All Might silently shed tears, seeing that his former sidekick passed away, and the doctor and nurses stared at the floor, as they saw the patient died, not knowing that Nighteye was trying to tell Togata and Midoriya about what he saw and wanted to try averting it.
With this the WHEELS OF FATE started to roll which would eventually change the lives of everyone involved, including some of the UA Academy students.
Todoroki was silent as he sympathize with everyone inside the room, and while Bakugo is also silent, he couldn't shake off what he saw moments ago as Nighteye was desperately trying to convey something to Midoriya and Togata before passing away, and there he glanced at Midoriya, as he cried aloud before being hugged and comforted by Hado.
"There, there…it's okay, Midoriya…"
"N-Nighteye…"
"Shh…it's going to be okay, Midoriya…"
"I…I…"
"Shh…it's okay, Midoriya…it's okay…"
"Did I…do the right…thing…?"
"Yes you did, Midoriya…"
"…"
Bakugo then glanced at Togata, as he too cried in sorrow before Centipeder and Bubble Girl comforted the Big Three member, and there Bakugo is starting to feel uneasy as he wondered what Nighteye saw and why he gave off a horrified expression after using his Foresight Quirk on Midoriya and Togata, and there he mentally made a point to ask Midoriya something once they get back to Heights Alliance.

Hope you liked this chapter, as I sort of started the story with a bit of canon, such as the aftermath of the Shie Hasakai arc, up to Nighteye's eventual death, but I added some original content such as Nighteye SAW what lies ahead where Togata seemingly becoming a villain and Midoriya becoming a tragic person.
Todoroki and Bakugo are added here on the account that All Might was providing chaperone after the two teens finished a day's remedial classes for the provisional hero license, and though Todoroki appeared to be oblivious, Bakugo SENSED SOMETHING after seeing Nighteye's horrified reaction after using his Foresight Quirk on Togata and Midoriya.
Though this opening chapter ended in a somber moment, this also foreshadow what is coming up ahead…more on that in the upcoming chapters…

Life goes on at UA Academy, and as Midoriya is set to begin his second year, mysterious elements are starting to appear, which involves the Midoriya and Togata families and bits of clues on what Nighteye saw with the Foresight…
