Chapter 1: One Body is too Small

Time is such an interesting concept.

We like to talk about it all the time, even when we don't notice it. It affects our lives in every single way. The phone you have, is not the same phone you used to have 2 seconds ago, due to your current phone, is two second older.

We love to talk about how important time is, when we don't fully understand it. In many senses, it is an abstract concept we as humans invented to make sense to a lot of things.

Maturity. Investment. Love. Hate. Life and death. Let's talk about that last one.

Death is something waiting for us all. No matter who you are, no matter your social class, your level of intelligence or strength... just as we were born as infants and grow into children and teenagers... we are going to grow old into adults, then elders... and then we are going to perish.

And that is only if you lead a peaceful life. If you lead a life full of adventure, heroism, crime, lies, war... you might leave earlier.

Isn't it a terrifying thought? That no matter who you are, no matter when and where did you lived your life, you are someday going to die?

Truth to be told, I am terrified. That's the reason... I figured a way to cheat it.

I like to divide time in eras, per say. Before life, there was chaos. The chaotic era, then the prehistoric era, full of beasts roaming earth. Then there was the glacial era and when I was born, the era of fire as... he called it.

Forgive me, but just remembering that clown playing to be a god makes my blood boil. Anyway, I was born in the so-called era of fire, and my life was miserable. Full of hardships, pain and suffering... until I found the well of souls.

There I started to experiment with it. You see, this device was made by a powerful sorcerer which name was lost to time, but it can capture the souls of the deceased. There I learned the truth of this world... of this timeline...

I cheated death by creating a manifestation of the well, and sending it to get more souls, a faster and efficient way of increasing my own life.

This creation I named Ermac, thousands and thousands of souls, trapped and powering one corpse. It was all well... until Liu Kang found out.

The God of Fire, the so-called protector of Earthrealm... the responsible of my misery, caught wind of the well and he sent his strongest warrior, the shaolin monk, The Great Kung Lao and he bested me in combat and destroyed Ermac.

Only that... you can't destroy Ermac. As long the Well of Souls is active, Ermac will one day come back, until then, I must hide, slowly aging more and more... and when I rebuild the Well of Souls... I shall rule.

My name? Don't worry about trivial things like that, more importantly; Ermac... was born again.

Izuku Midoriya, 4 years old has many friends. The only issue for Inko his mother, that none are real.

It is normal to have imaginary friends when you are young, but when Izuku only wants to hang out with those imaginary friends, rejecting other kids that want to be his real friends, starts to worry her.

So, she took him to a quirk specialist, believing this might be something related with his quirk, that has yet to appear.

The doctor, after analyzing the test frowned "Well, an extra joint in your pinky toe. You are quirkless." The doctor said plainly and not really caring as Inko and Izuku eyes widen.

"A-Are you sure?" Inko asked and the doctor nodded.

"Yep."

"But what about the voices and visions he has?"

The doctor shrugged "Probably a mental illness. I can appoint you a therapist and a psychiatrist, but more than that, I can do nothing more."

"You are lying." The doctor stopped on writing the note when he heard Izuku and slowly turned to his panicked face, wide... glowing eyes.

"Pardon me?"

"You are lying! Jerrod said I have a quirk!" Izuku pointed at nothing next to him and the doctor narrowed his eyes... glowing eyes... maybe.

The doctor pressed a button under his desk and slowly raised his hands "We can run another test, Young Midoriya... can you... show me this... Jerrod, was it?"

Izuku nodded tears in his ever so increasing green glowing eyes "Jerrod! Can you do that thing you showed me?" Izuku smiled and nodded "Thanks!"

In an instant, a green ghost, wearing ragged and destroyed king outfit appeared, sword in hand and stabbed it next to the doctor's head, making him squeal and Inko scream.

Izuku smile turned into a frown "That wasn't-"

The ghost was sucked back into Izuku as the kid fell to the ground and started to twist in pain, his eyes glowing more and more as some grin mist started to emanate from his body.

"Let us go!" Izuku screamed "Stop! You are hurting the host!" Another twist "We want freedom!" A broken arm "Death is release!"

"WE CAN'T DIE! WE WON'T DIE!"

Izuku was taken by heroes to a special center. They promised Inko, once he was better and under control, she can see him again.

That was the last time she saw her son.

Izuku was in a padded white room, with a straitjacket on, eyes glowing bright green and mist coming from his mouth. His head was snapping side to side, saying different things, each without the context of the before.

A scientist of the HPSC hummed "This is intriguing to say the least. All tests say he is quirkless but he clearly has one."

Another one nodded "Yeah, and at least 10 different personalities."

The first scientist chuckled "Well, let's figure out the quirk and see if it is safe. Want a coffee first?"

"With the headache that will come with this kid, yes please."

The door opened and they turned to see a man with a brown cloak, with glowing white eyes "You! Who let you in!?"

The stranger glared at them "Do you find humane locking a child and going to experiment with him?"

The scientist gulped "I-I... Security!" Behind the cloaked man, a man wearing a black and red ninja uniform, rushed to the scientist and with a kunai slit his throat.

The other one eyes widen and raised his hands "W-Wait-" Before he was dealt with too.

The man nodded "Thank you, Grandmaster Lu-Bu."

Lu-Bu nodded "Of course, Lord Liu Kang. But say..." He turned to the twitching child on the other room "Is it going to be safe to take him?"

Liu Kang smiled softly "Yes. Let me talk to them."

Lu-Bu raised a brow as Liu Kang enter the padded room "Them?"

Liu Kang slowly approached Izuku and once he was close enough, he just said "Hello, with whom am I talking too?"

Izuku's head snapped to him "Dimitri Makalev!" Another snap "Anna Stark!" Another snap "Joao Mario!"

Liu Kang nodded and placed his hand on Izuku's head. Immediately, Izuku stopped moving, and the glow lessened as he looked up to Liu Kang who just smiled kindly "Now, who is the one talking to me?"

Izuku trembled "I-Izuku Midoriya..."

Liu Kang nodded "A pleasure to meet you Izuku Midoriya. My name is Liu Kang, God of Fire and protector of this realm. Now, we are going to have to speak in another place, but don't worry, I am going to help you. All of you." Izuku nodded and... fell asleep.

Lu-Bu entered the room "Ready to go, Lord Liu Kang?"

Liu Kang released Izuku from the straitjacket and held him, carefully for his broken arm. "Yes, open the portal."

Lu-Bu nodded and made some handsigns as his shadow moved to the wall and made a gate to a temple.

Izuku who was asleep on Liu Kang's arms, kept twitching and Liu Kang smiled at him "None of you worry, let me teach you peace."

*Next Day, Fire Temple*

"Where are we!?" "Are we safe!?" "We are captured!" Izuku kept twitching and screaming on the ground as Liu Kang opened the door and Izuku glowing green glared at him "KILL!"

Liu Kang in a blink placed again his hand on Izuku's head and once again, Izuku came back "T-Thanks..."

"Don't thank me, I should have been with you when you woke up." Liu Kang apologized "Now, let's work on getting control."

Izuku gripped Liu Kang's hand "D-Don't let go..." Izuku pleaded, and Liu Kang smiled.

"I won't. I will help you. While I cannot erase all the souls in your body." Izuku trembled and his eyes glowed, clearly inciting different reactions on the many souls inside Izuku "I can teach you how to live with them. Teach you be in control of them, while being one with them."

Izuku felt tears in his eyes "T-They are my friends... I-I don't want them to leave..."

Liu Kang smiled "That's step one. Ready to start step two?"

"S-Step two?"

Liu Kang nodded "I can tell most of the souls in there, like you, and all don't want you to end like them. But to make sure you can all live as one, you must speak to them, you must be one of them. You may lead the charge, but what is a general without his army?"

Izuku nodded and slowly pushed Liu Kang's hand away from his head as his eyes glowed green "Let's... talk... all of us."
