"Trust yourself. You've survived a lot, and you'll survive whatever is coming."
- ROBERT TEW
There ahead was the way out of the vents. Koa breathed a huge sigh of relief, as she was starting to grow claustrophobic. Carefully, she climbed out of the vents and landed on her feet on the floor. Thinking she could spare a few minutes, she sat down to calm herself down.
Once she was comfortable enough, she started to think about what happened in Musical Memory. That last round could not have been a mishap. Yes, electronics and machines malfunction and glitch, but Koa could hear that Bunzo had kept coming despite that.
No doubt, the game going haywire like that was planned. Mommy Long-Legs was hoping she would panic and not notice that stop button.
Mommy was not going to play fair. She was going to do whatever it takes to rig the game in her favor and make sure Koa wouldn't survive.
Remembering the paper Mommy Long-Legs gave her, she pulled it out of her pocket and looked at it. It had four different pictures of different toys in a specific order. At this point, the code didn't really make sense. She would have to look at the train when she returned to the Game Station. Now that she had a green hand canon, she could access the locomotive on the train.
"You're still not Casey Jones, Koa," she sarcastically reminded herself to stop herself from thinking she could just figure out how the train worked.
Standing back up, she took a look at her surroundings. She was in some kind of storage room. However, upon looking at some of the toys, some of them she didn't recognize. Looking at some various papers and files scattered around the place, these were rejected ideas and designs of random toys.
Making her way to the other side of the room, she walked up a flight of stairs, and there was a way out. However, the door was out of reach. Luckily, there was a lift on the floor that she could use to help her climb up to the door, but there was a large dinosaur toy on the lift. Looking beside the lift, there was a large button, but after testing it, she found there was no power. Turning around, she saw the power switch next to another TV, and she tested the button again after she pulled the switch. The lift failed however due to the dinosaur toy on top of it. And if the lift couldn't support the weight of the dinosaur toy, she certainly wouldn't be able to move the toy herself. Looking around, she saw a large crane claw on the ceiling, and there were tracks along the ceiling to move the crane.
Walking down the stairs again, Koa looked ahead and just happen to catch a glance of a VHS tape on a turned over ladder. Using her Grab-Pack, she retrieved the tape and returned her focus to the crane. Grabbing one of the side bars on the crane with her Grab-Pack, she pulled it along the tracks along the room then back up the stairs, pulling the crane till it was right over the dinosaur toy. Before she continued, she decided to check the contents of this VHS tape.
Placing the tape in the VHS player, there was a picture of a toy she didn't recognize. It looked like it was a toy of a kid sitting on a toilet.
"Who came up with that idea?" Koa asked out loud just before a masculine voice spoke up. A voice she recognized from an earlier tape.
It was Richie again.
"Well, it finally happened. After years of being ignored, the company actually heard all my complaints! Yup! They listened, very carefully. I guess my words must have really inspired them to take action. Because the next day I got demoted down here. TO THE FREAKING ISLAND OF MISFIT TOYS!!"
Richie shouted as it sounded like he was throwing, and breaking, something in the video.
"Why do I talk to myself..?" Richie then groaned out loud before the screen went black.
Koa shook her head unamused before she turned back to the task at hand. Looking at the crane, she saw a receptacle for an electric charge. Looking to the wall to her left, she saw a charger, and she fired the Grab-Pack's green hand, charged it, then passed the charge to the crane. Once the crane powered up, it lowered, grabbed the dinosaur toy, and lifted it up. Koa then grabbed the side bars again and moved the crane to the side. Hearing the charge was dying, she quickly moved out of the way to avoid being crushed as the crane released its hold on the dinosaur.
Once it was done, Koa stood on the lift and pressed the button, and she continued her quest back to the Game Station.
After powering power poles for another lift, traveling through more hallways, getting sprayed by more steam from pipes, climbing up four flights of stairs, and opening a door, Koa found herself at the bottom of the stairs to Musical Memory. Recognizing where she was, she looked over and saw the hole in the wall that led her to the machines that made her Grab-Pack hand was blocked by spider webbing. Thinking Mommy was trying to limit her escape routes and hiding areas, she returned to the Game Station, and made her way to the train.
Once she was in front of the train, she fired her Grab-Pack's green hand and charged the door. Once it was open, she stepped inside the locomotive. Looking at the control console, she pulled out the paper again and looked at it. There were in fact buttons on the train that had faces of certain toys like Mommy Long-Legs, CatBee and a few others. Seeing a reset button next to then, she tested it, and found that it rearranged the order of the characters of the buttons. Catching on, Koa pressed the button until the order matched the one on the paper. Once the patterns matched, Koa pocketed the paper again, left the locomotive, and shut the door. Koa needed to be ready in case she had to make a quick get away.
As she walked away from the train, something dripped on the floor in front of her. Looking down, she saw what was no doubt a drop of blood. Another drop landed in the exact same spot. Koa looked up and her hands went to her mouth as she gasped in shock. There, hanging from the ceiling tangled and wrapped in a spider's web, was the mangled corpse of Bunzo Bunny. His limbs were twisted in abnormal angles, and Koa could see that Bunzo had been eviscerated, as his intestines were torn from his stomach and where hanging from his body.
Koa stood there, shaking in shock. No doubt the noise she heard earlier in the vents was Bunzo's pain-filled, dying screams. Mommy Long-Legs no doubt killed him because he failed to kill her.
This proved her earlier thoughts. Mommy will no doubt do whatever it takes to ensure her demise.
Koa growled before she calmed down to refocus herself. She had to be ready. She had to be prepared for whatever Mommy Long-Legs had up her sleeve.
Koa then stood in front of the large console and pulled the middle lever. Stella's voice spoke up again.
"Whoa! You did fantastic! Who gave you permission to be this smart?" She giggled before she continued, "Mommy is super proud of you! But I'm sure she's already told you that herself. Our next game is Wack-a-Wuggy! Head downstairs and have fun!"
Koa stiffened up. "Wack-a-Wuggy?"
She didn't like that at all. Memories flashed in her head of Huggy Wuggy smiling at her. His mouth wide open. His mouth filled with pointed teeth. Him chasing her in the vents.
Now, no doubt, there was going to be more of them.
The sound of a large metal door opening sounded, snapping her out of her thoughts. There on the opposite side of the door to Musical Memory was the stairs to Wack-a-Wuggy.
Koa placed her hand over her heart and clenched her hand. Her heart rate was picking up. She could tell she was about to have an anxiety attack. She backed off and sat down for a minute to try and calm down. She focused on her breathing. After a minute, she calmed down enough to refocus. If she wanted to leave, she had to do this.
"It's okay, Koa. You're ready this time. You can do this," she reassured herself as she stood up.
Looking down the steps, she gave a big sigh and climbed down the steps. Once she was at the bottom, she walked to the large room in front of her. Once she entered, she saw the floor was covered in sand, which made walking on the ground a bit harder. All over the walls, there were large holes, which made Koa uneasy. This may be harder than it looked.
Once she was in the center of the room, and large gate shut behind her, trapping her in the room, and a TV turned on in a corner in the room next to the observation room. Like in Musical Memory, it showed pictures and videos on what to do.
"Welcome to Wack-a-Wuggy! This advanced test is designed to assess the extent of your reactionary abilities. A dual palm Grab-Pack will be provided to you for this test. Around you are 18 sizable holes. An adorable Huggy Wuggy toy could appear out of any one of these holes."
"18?!" Koa exclaimed.
"If one comes out, hit it with your GrabPack. That's all. Good luck!
The TV went black. Koa started to worry.
Suddenly, Mommy Long-Legs appeared in the observation window.
"The toys in this game used to have strings attached to them, so they could be pulled back when they got too close to the children," she said rather sinisterly.
She reached her hand up, and when she pulled it back down, she revealed a handful of strings. Koa gasped.
"No," she whispered.
"Hmm, have fun!" Mommy said sadistically as she dropped the strings and watched.
"No! No! No!" Koa yelled.
Koa could hear them moving in the holes in the walls. Whenever she saw one, she fired her Grab-Pack at them and hit them square in the face. Once the Huggy Wuggy was struck, it immediately retreated back into the hole. As the game progressed, more than one Huggy would approach at a time from different sides of the room. Koa started to panic. They were coming in too fast, and by the time she spotted them, they looked like they were ready to pounce.
Koa didn't know how much longer she could keep up. She was starting to get a bit dizzy from the spinning, and her back was starting to ache from the fast movements and the uneven ground because of the sand. After hitting another Huggy, a chime echoed in the room.
"Wha-"
"Oh. You did it," Mommy growled. She gave an angry sigh, before she regained her bubbly persona, though Koa could tell Mommy was starting to lose her patience, "Hooray! Mommy is so… proud of you…" she forced out in obviously fake praise.
"Here, Mommy has another hint for you," she said calmly before Koa heard a vent open nearby.
Looking to her left, she saw Mommy's hand with another piece of paper. She used her Grab-Pack to retrieve it, and Mommy pulled her hand back as Koa pocketed the paper.
"Only one game left to play…" Mommy lamented. "Hmm, sad… Mommy wad hoping you'd stay here forever. Though, it's never too late to change your mind," she said once again in a suggestive tone as she disappeared with a chuckle.
The vent Mommy's hand once was opened up, and Koa wasted no time getting out of there.
