Raiya walks inside the room where the team from Konoha was staying, she had been discharged from the hospital just this morning and wanted to see all her friends. Inside the room, she sees Team 10 and Team 7.
Sasuke had been doing so much better ever since Naruto brought him back, he had an apprenticeship with the Snake Sannin's first student, Matarashi Anko. She had whipped him up in to shape and broke him out of his 'I'm going to kill Itachi' phase.
Sakura had been under the tutoring of Senju Tsunade of the Sannin. She had basically become a second Tsunade if you asked Raiya. She could throw someone yards back just by flicking a finger at them, but Sakura could only do it with a punch but that was still impressive.
Naruto... Raiya hadn't heard much from Naruto. He had told her he was going to send letters but she never got any; only her Minato-oji had gotten some, non of which were ever addressed to her. It hurt Raiya, she wondered if it was still because of the fight they had, she really hoped it wasn't. She looked out of the corner of her eye to see Naruto sitting down and talking to Kakashi.
He was dressed in a black shirt with oranges strips going down the long sleeves. He was wearing a white sage haori which reached the back of his knees, with blue flames on the bottom. His hitai-ate was tied his forehead and the cloth was long enough that it reached the upper middle of the haori. He had black pants with his kunai holster on his right leg and blue shinobi sandals that matched the haori.
Naruto's violet looked to her and he ran up to her, hugging her tightly. That's when Raiya's tears came out, oh how she missed this her lovable, blonde, idiotic cousin. She hugged him back with the same force, she didn't care that he had grown taller and she now only reached his shoulder. She did the best she could to put her face in his neck and breath in his scent. She hadn't smelled this scent in so long; the smell of sunshine and the cool breeze that blows during the sunrise.
"Naruto," she rubbed her face into his neck. His hair had become longer, like his fathers, but she could tell the difference because of the whisker marks and scents. While Naruto smell as the perviously said scents, Minato smelled like paper, blood, lightning form storms.
"Hey Raiya-chan," he leaned his head on her's, "How you been?"
"Why didn't you send letters like you promised?" asked Raiya, she felt Naruto flinched backwards.
"R-raiya..." he stuttered and Raiya backed away from her cousin, glaring angrily at him.
"You promised, you send to oji-chan but not to me," her voice was filled with anger.
Naruto reached a hand out to her, his eyes filled with guilt but the female blonde backed away from the touch, "Let me explain Raiya."
"You know what?" Raiya rhetorically asked, "I don't wanted your explaination. You not sending me a letter says enough on how much you love me Itoko kyōdai (cousin brother)."
Naruto flinches and tries again to reach out to her but Raiya slaps his hand away and leaves the room.
The Konoha group stood outside the gates of Suna. Sakura says good bye to Temari and Kankuro along with Sasuke, who then looks to Naruto, waiting for him to join back up with the group. The blonde haired teen shakes the Kazekage's hand and waves to him as he runs to join the group. Raiya was the last person to say good bye to the group, she decides to surprise her friend by rising on her toes and a quickly kiss on the cheek. That was all it took for Gaara's face to become almost the same color as his hair.
Raiya gives him a hug, resting her head on his chest and he returns it, placing his cheek on the top of her head. The two quickly break the hug and Raiya waves over her shoulder as she wuickly joins up with the Konoha team. She kept a good distance away from Naruto, who looked upset but just looked forward.
Gaara still had the blush on his face and a hand to the cheek that Raiya kissed as he walked back into the village, he looked down to the ground in thought.
"Hey Gaara," the red heard his older sister call his name and looked up to the girl with the same color eyes as him.
"Yes Temai," he said as he removed the hand on his cheek and straightened his back.
Temari had a sly smile on her face and Kankuro was snickering, "Do you like Raiya?"
Gaara tilted his head, "Of course I do, she my best friend."
"She doesn't mean it like Gaara, like you would want to marry her," Kankuro gave a perverted grin and Temari smacked him up the head. Gaara shook his head fondly at the two and sped up, choosing not to answer Temari's queestion any further.
The Konoha team returned back to Konoha a few days later and handed in the reports for the missions (missions for Raiya).
Minato noticed how Raiya had just ignored Naruto entirely and frowned at it. He looked at his son's sad expression and his heart clinched slightly. He wanted to be made at his niece for making his son sad but he knew that this was Naruto's own fault all so that meant it was his mess to clean up.
"Naruto," Minato called out and Naruto looked at his father, "Quit mopping and go apologize to your cousin, I don't want you two like this in my house."
Naruto nodded, "Yes Tō-san," Naruto quickly walked out of the tower and raced towards Raiya, "Raiya!" he called out and the dual color girl turned around and looked at Naruto, her hands still in her pockets.
"Yes Naruto, do you need something?" she asked coldly and Naruto had to fight back the flinch.
"Listen Raiya, I'm really sorry that I never sent you any letters, I was so caught up in everything that... I... I total forgot to write you as well, I thought you would just read from Tō-san's and you wouldn't be mad. I know, I shouldn't have done that and I'm really, really, really sorry," Naruto bowed to Raiya, "Can please forgive me?"
There was a long silence between the two and in the street the two cousins were in. Naruto began to lose the hope that Raiya wasn't going to forgive him when he finally heard her voice.
"I forgive Naruto," she said and she help her cousin straighten up, "We should have bad blood between the two of us, yes I'm still mad at," Naruto looked down, "But now that your back you can now make it up to me," Naruto look back up and gave a wide foxy grin that looked so much like a certain red head's, "Come on now, let's go have a spar, I want to see how much you have improved... but I'm still going to kick your ass," Naruto squawked and chased after the cerulean eyed girl, but laughing as they ran. The civilian's passing by smiled at this, it reminded them of when the two were much younger.
Minato watched from the crystal ball that the Sandaime had given him after the Kyūbi attack. He smiled fondly at the two children that he had raised from such a young age.
"Yes, the future does look a little brighter," Minato looked up, "Are you watching Kushina, Kaiya? Are you watching how much these two have grown?" he looked back to the crystal ball, "I can't wait to see what they do in the future."

Next Update: Naruto Back In The Past
Next time on Naruto: Desert Storm.
Raiya ran through a dark tunnel, the only thing lighting it up were the torch flames placed symentrically on the wall, Sadaka and Sadaha flanking her on either side. She almost made it into the giant room in the center of the base when it was blasted open from up above. She entered to see Naruto and Sasuke looking up to see Orochimaru... in an Akatsuki cloak.
'Oh no, Orochimaru has rejoined with the Akatsuki, this is going to be trouble,' thought Raiya and she and her wolves raced to Naruto and Sasuke, Sakura and a mysterious knew member added to the team join up with the them.
