The mist rolled in, thick and suffocating, as if it were alive. The oppressive atmosphere bore down on Team 7 and Tazuna as they stood on the unfinished bridge. Kakashi's visible eye narrowed as he scanned the surroundings, Sharingan already active.
"Stay close to me," Kakashi warned, his voice calm but firm. "This mist isn't natural. Zabuza is here."
Naruto, standing slightly ahead of Sasuke and Sakura, scoffed. "Let him come. I'll deal with him."
Sasuke clenched his fists, glaring at Naruto. "Don't be stupid. This isn't like those bandits you slaughtered."
Sakura remained silent, her nerves frayed by the heavy tension.
A deep, chilling voice echoed through the mist. "Kakashi Hatake... and his little brats. How unfortunate for you all to have stumbled into my domain."
From the dense fog, Zabuza Momochi appeared, his massive blade resting on his shoulder. His presence was a manifestation of death itself, his killing intent radiating outward like waves.
"Hand over the old man, and I might consider letting you leave alive," Zabuza taunted.
Kakashi didn't flinch. "You know I can't do that."
Naruto stepped forward, his golden eyes glinting in the dim light. "Why waste time talking, Kakashi? Let's just kill him."
Zabuza raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a grin. "Oh? This brat has a death wish. I'll be happy to grant it."
Before anyone could react, Naruto dashed forward, a burst of speed that left Sasuke and Sakura stunned. Even Zabuza barely had time to lift his sword before Naruto was upon him, launching a devastating punch aimed at his midsection.
Zabuza blocked with the flat of his blade, but the sheer force of the impact sent him skidding back several feet, his boots scraping against the bridge.
"What the—?" Zabuza muttered, his arms vibrating from the force.
Naruto didn't stop. He followed up with a barrage of swift strikes, his movements precise and relentless. Zabuza was forced on the defensive, his massive blade swinging to parry each attack.
Kakashi watched intently, already calculating. Naruto's speed and raw power are astounding, but he's reckless. Zabuza won't fall that easily.
Suddenly, Zabuza vanished into the mist. His voice echoed once more. "You've got some power, kid. But speed means nothing if you can't find your target."
The mist grew denser, enveloping the battlefield. Kakashi's Sharingan swirled as he called out, "Stay alert! He's trying to separate us!"
Naruto smirked. "Let him hide. It won't matter."
His chest began to glow faintly as the eye on his torso opened, releasing a pulse of golden light that cut through the mist. The oppressive fog thinned, revealing Zabuza perched on a bridge support, his sword poised for a sneak attack.
"What the—?" Zabuza's shock was palpable.
Naruto raised a hand, forming three shadow clones that immediately lunged at Zabuza, forcing him to leap away. As Zabuza landed, Naruto appeared behind him with another burst of speed, aiming a kick at his back.
This time, Zabuza was ready. He twisted mid-air, his blade swinging in a wide arc. Naruto ducked, the massive sword barely grazing his hair.
While Naruto kept Zabuza occupied, Kakashi took the opportunity to move in. With Zabuza's attention divided, Kakashi launched a water dragon jutsu, forcing the rogue shinobi further on the defensive.
"You've got some interesting students, Kakashi," Zabuza growled, his blade deflecting the watery serpent. "But you're still no match for me."
Kakashi didn't respond, instead closing the distance. Their swords clashed as Naruto circled around, looking for an opening.
As the battle raged, Naruto began to lose patience. The eye on his chest glowed brighter, his pale skin darkening as his Boros transformation activated. His golden veins pulsed with energy, and his speed increased exponentially.
Zabuza's eyes widened as Naruto appeared before him in a blur, delivering a crushing blow to his stomach. The force sent Zabuza flying, his massive sword clattering to the ground.
Before Zabuza could recover, Naruto was on him again, pinning him to the bridge with one hand.
"Is this it?" Naruto growled, his voice cold and alien. "You talk big, but you're nothing."
Zabuza gritted his teeth, struggling against Naruto's overwhelming strength.
From the mist, senbon needles flew, aiming for Naruto's neck. Reacting instantly, Naruto twisted his body, the needles grazing him harmlessly. He turned his glowing gaze toward the source of the attack, spotting Haku standing at the edge of the bridge.
"You're fast," Haku admitted, his voice calm. "But I won't let you kill Zabuza-sama."
Naruto smirked. "Try me."
In a burst of speed, Naruto closed the distance between them, his fist aimed at Haku's chest. The masked ninja barely managed to block with a wall of ice, but the impact shattered it instantly, sending Haku staggering back.
"Enough, Naruto!" Kakashi shouted, appearing beside him. "This isn't how we do things."
Naruto glanced at Kakashi, his expression cold. "He's weak. They both are. Why waste time sparing them?"
Haku used the distraction to retrieve Zabuza, retreating into the mist with his injured mentor.
Naruto didn't chase them. Instead, he turned to Kakashi, his golden eyes narrowing. "You let them go. Next time, I won't."
As the mist cleared, Sasuke and Sakura approached cautiously. Sasuke's Sharingan was still active, his expression a mix of frustration and disbelief.
"You almost killed them," Sasuke said, his voice low.
Naruto shrugged. "And? They'll just come back stronger. Better to end it now."
Sakura's voice trembled. "That's not how we're supposed to do things, Naruto."
Naruto ignored her, his attention already shifting back to the path ahead. "They're alive because Kakashi got in the way. Don't expect the same mercy next time."
Kakashi sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. Naruto's power is undeniable, but his mindset... It's dangerous.
Deep inside Naruto, Boros's voice echoed with approval. Good. Show them the truth of strength. Let them fear you.
Kurama, however, remained silent. His dread only grew.
