Meanwhile, in a forest area, there was a big log where a piece of snow from a branch fell onto a strange turtle shell. There, out of the shell came a turtle who was startled by the piece of snow.

Verne: "Oh! Oooh! Boy, that's cold! That's cold! The one place I didn't have a shell."

He walked out of the log as he saw how beautiful the area looks. The trees, the grassy land, everything about it looks amazing.

Verne: "Wow. Spring."

He keeps admiring the view as it was spring time until he realizes something.

Verne: "That means there's only 274 days left till winter. Everybody, wake up! Hibernation's over."

Once he said that, a male brown squirrel appeared and quickly rushed towards Verne.

Hammy: "Oh, morning!"

Verne: "Morning, Hammy."

Hammy: "I gotta go wee-wee!"

He quickly zipped out.

Verne: "Not in the lake we drink from! Let's go, all right, the rest of you. It's spring! That means we gotta get to work. Come on, everybody. Wake up. Don't make me come in there."

This was until a female voice was heard.

Stella: "Ya'll better listen. I've been holding something in all winter, and I'm about to let it out."

This causes a lot of the animals to rushed out as the female voice came from a skunk who was aiming her rear. Then she gets back up and starts walking pass Verne.

Verne: "Thank you, Stella."

Stella: "Oh, I can clear a room, Verne. Come on, that much I can do."

Soon, they join with their friends out in the area. Meanwhile with Verne, he was searching through the log and only found a branch with berries. Only enough just for all of them right now.

Verne: "Oh, boy. This is what I was afraid of."

Hammy: "Where's the food? Is there any left? I'm hungry, so is there any left?"

Then the young female opossum spoke to answer the young squirrel.

Heather: "We ate all the food, Hammy. During the winter? So we gotta go get some more now."

Hammy: "Oh, right! I buried some nuts in the woods. I know where they are. I'll be right back. Bye!"

Then he zoomed out as it caused a branch to let snow drop from it to hit the older opossum on the head causing him to "die."

This makes the others start laughing to themselves and this makes Heather embarrassed.

Heather: "Dad, it was just snow."

Ozzie: "But it could have been a predator."

Heather: "Isn't playing dead a little... weak?"

Ozzie: "Heather, how many times must I say it? Playing possum is what we do. We die so that we live!"

Meanwhile back with Hammy, he was trying to find his nuts. As he was searching, he then discovered something very shocking to him. Verne came back to everyone with the branch with berries.

Verne: "Well, I think you know what this means."

Hammy comes back and tries to get Verne's attention.

Hammy: "Verne!"

Verne: "Just a minute, Hammy. This means we were nine berries away from starvation. Sorry. That was a little intense. I meant really serious hunger pains."

Hammy: "Verne!"

Verne: "Not finished, Hammy. Morning, Lou, Penny."

Verne said giving berries to the older porcupine couple. Then to the porcupine triplets.

Verne: "Hey, kids. So, what I want to tell you is..."

Hammy: "Verne!"

Verne: "I'm not done, Hammy. If you have to go again, just go. OK. So all I'm saying is we cut it a little close. So this year, we need to make sure that we fill the log..."

Ozzie: "All the way to the top."

While everyone was talking, the two raccoons, RJ and Ralph, finally arrived and notice the animals talking.

Verne: "Exactly. All the way to the top. Because what are we?"

All: "Foragers!"

Verne: "And what do we forage?"

All: "Food!"

The two raccoon brothers listened, then RJ had an idea. A very clever and bad idea.

Ralph: "Seems they need as much food as we do. If only we would help."

RJ: "Yeah... if only we could help."

Ralph noticed the tone in RJ's voice. He looked at him. He knows the kind of plan RJ wants to do in order to get Vincent's food back.

Ralph: "No."

RJ: "We can get the food faster!"

Ralph: "We would be taking advantage of them."

RJ: "Vincent won't bother us again!"

Ralph: "Come on. There has to be a way to get food for Vincent without using them!"

RJ: "Come on little brother. Trust me. We just need their help so that Vincent won't kill us. We're a family. We have to stick together."

Ralph hated that RJ uses the word "Family" when trying to get him to do stuff that he doesn't want to.

Ralph: *sighs* "Fine! But I swear if they find out then don't you dare put the blame on me."

Both raccoon brothers noticed they were gone as they sneak up close to look for the other animals. Back with them, they followed Hammy to see what he wanted them to see.

Verne: "Hammy, what weird thing? Oh. That weird thing..."

There they all saw a strange huge and long bush. It made them all very nervous and somewhat scared. Hammy decided to run far to the left.

Hammy: "It never ends!"

He rushed to the right side and back to the others.

Hammy: "It never ends that way too."

Penny: "Jeepers, Lou."

Lou: "Whoa. Yeah, jeepers is the word there, hon."

Ozzie: "I've never seen anything like this."

Stella: "Man, that's big."

Heather: "What is this thing?"

She was about to get near it, until her father pulls her back.

Ozzie: "Heather, no!"

The porcupine kids were very scared, until their mother spoke to them.

Penny: "It's ok, it's just a... What is this thing, Lou?"

Lou: "I... Well, it's a... It's... Verne?"

Not even Verne could know fully.

Verne: "Well, it's... it's obviously... ...some kind of bush?"

Penny: "I'd be less afraid of it if I just knew what it was called."

Hammy: "Let's call it Steve!"

Verne: "Steve?"

Hammy: "It's a pretty name."

This seems to have everyone be a little bit calm.

Heather: "Steve sounds nice."

Penny: "I'm a lot less scared of Steve."

Ozzie: "Oh, great and powerful Steve! What do you want?"

Verne: "I don't think it can speak."

Then they heard a female voice.

"I heard that, young man!"

This makes everyone startled and Ozzie to pretend to die again.

"You get over here right now!"

This makes Hammy start to walk over to it.

Hammy: "OK."

Verne: "Hammy, get back here."

He manages to pull Hammy back.

Hammy: "But Steve is angry!"

Verne: "I think it came from the other side of Steve. I mean the bush. I mean... Jeez!"

He sighed and tries to get them to calm down again.

Verne: "Look, there's only one way we're gonna find out what this thing is, and what this is all about. I'm gonna go check it out."

As Verne walked towards the other side he saw the entire yard of the house. It would seem very nice, but it was all very shocking to him and nerve wrecking.

Ralph and RJ looks on top of a tree and sees that they were now at the Suburbs.

Meanwhile with Verne, after checking out the other side, he went through it all, and bounced through a lot of the neighborhood until he got pushed back into the forest.

The others went to check on him.

Verne: "Freaky pink primates! They must have come while we were hibernating. It was awful. They had wheels on their feet and these sticks, and they were whacking me with these sticks like it was some sort of sick game."

Ozzie: "You should have died! You should have laid down and died."

Heather: "Dad..."

Verne: "That's not the worst part. Half the forest is gone. The oak trees and the berry bushes, they're just... they're just gone."

Penny: "Jeepers..."

Stella: "What'll we do for food?"

Verne: "I don't know. But here's what I do know. We will be fine as long as no one goes over Steve again."

Ralph: "Yeah about that. It's called a hedge! And it really isn't as well dangerous as you make it out to be."

He yelled out to them.

RJ: "He is right, my amphibious friend. It is the gateway to the good life."

Verne: "I'm a reptile, actually. But, you know, it's a common mistake. And you are?"

RJ: "Oh, where are my manners? I'm RJ. And this is my little brother, Ralph."

Both him and his brother climb down a branch as when they got down the branch accidentally hit Verne on the cheek slightly.

Seems like Verne has a strange feeling about them.

Ralph starts to pull stuff out of RJ's bag and let the other animals mess with them as he gives RJ a map.

RJ: "Don't think I'm prying, but I couldn't help overhearing, and I can shed a little light on what this whole hedge situation is about. You see, what was once mere wilderness is now 54 acres of man-made, manicured, air-conditioned paradise. Except for that little-bitty speck. You are here."

RJ pointed at the map where they are and they panicked.

Ralph: "Wait wait. He doesn't mean it in a bad way."

He said and chuckled slightly from their reaction.

RJ: "The point is... You're hibernators, right? You gather food, store it for the winter?

Hammy: "We fill the log!"

Verne: "Hammy!"

RJ: "Really? This log? This cave-like log?"

He said and Ralph holds onto the tape measurer and have RJ reach to the log to measure it.

Ozzie: "All the way to the top."

Verne: "Ozzie!"

RJ: "Let me ask ya, how long's it take? You know, to fill the log?"

Heather: "Two hundred and seventy-four days."

Ralph: "Wow, That long?"

RJ: "Ever done it in a week?"

Verne: "That's impossible."

Ralph: "Not really with our help."

RJ: "Yep! You got the food-gathering skills, we got the know-how, and they have the food!

Heather: "How much food?"

RJ: "Loads of food. Heaps of food. Food out the wazoo!"

They seem to be really convincing everyone. Well... everyone except one person.

Verne: "Well, whatever kind of food comes out of a wazoo, I don't think we're interested in eating it."

He said while giving back RJ's stuff to them from everyone.

Lou: "I don't know, the guy's making a lot of sense to me. I think we should listen."

Penny: "Yeah, I'm ok with wazoo food here."

Verne: "No, you're not. The tail is tingling."

That made everyone listened to Verne.

RJ: "Hold on, hold on. The what is what?"

Verne: "When something doesn't feel right, my tail tingles, and let me tell you something, everything you've said so far is driving my tail crazy."

RJ: "Listen. Verne, right? This isn't something you need to be afraid of."

Verna: "Well, I am. And for good reason. This is not a birthmark."

He showed a black mark on his shell. Which it seems to be a car tire mark. Ralph then uses an electric toothbrush to scrub off the tire mark.

Ralph: "Yeah... that's because you needed someone to guide you.

Verne: "Whatever. Thanks for stopping by. We're not interested."

RJ: "Not interested in the most delicious food you've ever tasted?"

Verne: "No!"

RJ: "Come on."

Verne: "Not! Interested!"

This wasn't working at all. That is until RJ thinks of an idea.

RJ: *whispers* "Get the bag."

Ralph: *whispers* "What bag?"

RJ gave him a look.

Ralph: *whispers* "That one? Well... alright."

He then tosses a nacho cheese flavored chip bag to his brother.

RJ: "OK. I get it, Verne. I understand. This is something that you're just not open to."

He said and opened the chip bag causing an explosion of nacho cheese chip dust. Everyone was blown back from the explosion except for the raccoons. They started groaning until they got up.

Hammy: "What is THAAAT!?"

RJ: "That, my friend, is a magical combination of corn flour, dehydrated cheese solids, BHA, BHT, and good old MSG, a.k.a., the chip. Nacho cheese flavor."

He tosses a lot of chips towards them.

Stella: "Over here! Toss me one of those!"

Hammy: "More please! More."

Stella: "Yeah, Verne, those were good!"

RJ: "It's all good! And we're going over there, tonight! Yeah!"

They all meet on the other side of the hedge at night where Verne was at last.

RJ: "Welcome to suburbia."

Everyone was very shocked by how it looked and how it is much different than what Verne has described. The two raccoons walked up to Verne.

RJ: "How's that tail, Verne?"

Verne: "Listen, if anybody in this family gets hurt, I'm holding you personally responsible."

RJ: "They're having a good time. I'll take responsibility for that."

He said while him and Ralph walked from him. Ralph walked as he watched everyone enjoy themselves though felt guilty about using them like this.

Ralph: "Just gotta remember the plan. Remember the plan. The food. The food."

He then hears a voice from behind.

Heather: "You alright?"

The raccoon turns to see the opossum right there.

Ralph: "Oh uh... yeah I'm okay!"

Heather: "Really? You seem nervous."

Ralph: "Oh uh yeah. I guess I'm a little shy."

The young opossum giggles from how he speaks.

Heather: "I'm Heather."

Ralph: "Ralph."

Heather: "So where did you come from? Another part of the forest?"

Ralph: "More so out of the forest."

Heather: "So is it really how Verne said it is?"

Ralph: "Well it can be scary at first, but you'll get used to it."

They continued talking as they seem to be enjoying their chat together. Ralph never seemed to chat like this with anyone before. Then he walks with her around the yard.

Heather: "I still can't believe you know so much about this stuff."

Ralph: *chuckles* "Yeah. Growing up around human stuff like this is crazy."

As they were busy walking, Heather wanted to know what was Ralph muttering to himself.

Heather: "So what did you talk about back there? Plan and food?"

This secretly made Ralph nervous. He really didn't wanna lie, but then Vincent will find them and kill them.

Ralph: "O-Oh well... you see..."

Heather looks at him confused as Ralph didn't know what to say. Before the female opossum could get suspicious, RJ rushed to beside Ralph to help cover for them.

RJ: "What he really means is that we are gonna have a plan to fill up the log with a crazy amount of food!"

Ralph: "Y-Yeah."

Heather: *thinks* 'They sure seem weird. But very nice. Ralph does seem kinda cute too.'

Heather: "That's cool then! I can't wait for the log to be filled. Thanks for helping us."

Ralph: "S-sure thing."

As she walked off to check out the rest of the yard, Ralph was relieved that he didn't blurt out everything. But notice that his older brother is giving him a smirk.

Ralph: "What?"

RJ: "Oh nothing. Didn't know you were very smooth little bro."

Confused by his words, Ralph was able to figure out what RJ meant by that.

Ralph: "Oh come on RJ. I'm sure she's just a friend.

RJ: "Ha. Sure sure. I don't mean to pry but you did enjoy talking with her."

This made Ralph blushed slightly as he rolled his eyes.

Until a little bit later, the forest animals walk towards Verne.

Lou: "Hey, Verne, I took a few clippings out of my quills to do a little comparison. Look at this, the grass seems to be greener over here."

Ozzie: "Verne, are you certain you came to the same place?"

Stella: "Yeah, 'cause the raccoons says..."

Verne: "OK, enough about them. I get it. So he can do a couple of tricks. I mean, it's not like he can walk on water."

RJ: "Hey, everybody! This way to the food!"

Both RJ and Ralph were walking on pool floats.

They led them to the front of the house and in front of the huge vehicle that's close by them.

Spike: "That thing's huge!"

Hammy: "What is that?"

Ralph: "Oh that? That's an SUV. It's basically-"

RJ: "It's where the humans ride around in it because they are slowly losing their ability to walk."

Ralph couldn't help but roll his eyes at that. Not like he could disagree with his brother.

Penny: "Jeepers, it's so big!"

Lou: How many humans fit in there?

RJ: "Usually? One."

Suddenly, they heard a female voice as they rushed to hide. They notice that it is a human woman who walked by them and is on her phone.

Gladys: "Hi, this is Gladys Sharp. Your president? Of the homeowner's association? Right."

Penny: "Jeepers."

Hammy: "What is that?"

Ralph: "Don't worry. That's just a human being. And they are just as scared of us as we are of them. Trust me."

RJ: "Yep! But if a human ever seen you just lay down, roll over and give your privates a good licking. They love it."

Ralph: *whispers* "Are you being for real?"

RJ: *whispers* "It's only hypothetical little brother. Not like humans are gonna catch us any time soon."

Verne: "Could we just get the food and go? Really, do they have it or not?"

RJ: "Didn't you see it? It was in the box. They've always got food with them. We eat to live, these guys live to eat! Let us show you what I'm talking about."

Both of the raccoon show them much more about food, getting food, where food comes from. Just food, food, food, food, and more food.

RJ: "So you think they have enough?"

They shook their heads yes.

RJ: "Well, they don't. For humans, enough is NEVER enough! And what do they do with the stuff they don't eat? They put it in gleaming, silver cans, just for us."

He then kick the trash cans on the ground.

RJ: Dig in!

Everybody rushed in to take what they can get.

It seems to be going good for everyone. Well... everyone except a certain turtle. Verne was still suspicious about the raccoons. The racoons then notice that Verne was about to eat a diaper as they stop him.

Ralph: "I wouldn't eat that if I were you. It's a diaper, Verne."

RJ: "And it does come out of a wazoo."

He then goes and talks with the animals.

RJ: "So, what do you think? Was I right or was I right? And these things are just the scraps! Wait'll you see what comes in the boxes, packages and cans! I'm telling you, stick with me, and in one week we will gather enough food to... To feed a bear!"

Everyone looked at him confused with what he meant. Ralph even gave him a look hoping he noticed what he said.

RJ: "Just a figure of speech."

They were a strange beep as they turn to see a cat come out of a pet door from the house.

Cat: "Halt! Intruders! Intruders! Get out, all of you!'"

Gladys: "What is it, baby?"

Gladys came out to see what's wrong with her cat and saw the forest animals causing her to scream.

Ralph and RJ was about to book it, until they notice that the others were about to lick themselves.

Ralph: "What are you guys doing?!"

Lou: "Well, RJ said to lick our..."

Ralph: "Just forget it and run!"

Everyone rushed to the hedge as Gladys tried to wack them with a broom. They were able to make it.

After making it, the forest animals were all scared after what happened as RJ and Ralph made it soon.

Verne: "See what I mean? That's what I was talking about! These humans don't want us around!"

Ralph: "Look Verne, we're sorry. We-"

RJ: "Come on, we just scared her, and she overreacted. No biggie."

Ralph: "RJ..."

Verne: "No biggie? OH! That is what we call a biggie."

RJ: "Come on, think about the food. It was worth it for that food, huh? That stuff is to die for!"

This causes Ozzie to faint quickly.

Ralph: *sighs* "Look what RJ actually meant is-"

Verne: "No No. We understand. 'To die for.' He nailed that part. Look, maybe our little forest life looks primitive to a guy with a bag."

RJ felt offended by that.

Verne: "But I think I speak for the whole family when I say we want NOTHING to do with ANYTHING THAT'S OVER THAT HEDGE!"

They all head back to the log as RJ and Ralph stayed behind.

RJ: "You haven't even tried doughnuts yet! You wanna store fat? That is the way to store some fat. You'll be sweatin' through the winter!"

He was trying to convince them to listen, but it wasn't working.

RJ: "OK, all right, you guys sleep on it! Good idea. I'm gonna check back with you. Shoot! Almost had 'em."

Ralph: "Alright. We failed. Guess we'll have to move on from this."

He was hoping that his brother would listen.

RJ: "We aren't done yet."

Ralph: "After what happened, they aren't gonna listen to us. Plus it's still wrong of us to lie about helping them."

RJ: "Come on Ralph! Just one more chance. If we can't convince them, then we'll go. I promise."

Ralph: "...Fine."

They went to find somewhere to sleep. RJ chose to sleep up in a tree that's close by while Ralph slept on the ground close to the trunk of the tree.

As they sleep, Heather secretly looks out the log to see Ralph sleeping as she sighed before going to sleep herself.
