''Why's the outside look so weird?'' Kya asked as she,her twin brother Kai , their new friends Phil and Lil stood against the back door looking out at the backyard covered in snow while Ernrsto cooked breakfast.
''I'm not sure but whatever it is I think Hana and Sadie like it.'' Phil said as the four one year olds watched the two dogs run around in the snow.
After breakfast the kids were all dressed up in layers and brought outside.
''This is snow. It's like halo halo.'' Ernesto explained.''It's white and cold.''
He held out a handful of snow so the babies could feel it. Of course hearing that it was like halo halo made Kai and Kya excited and they eagerly picked up a handful and shoved it in their mouths.
''It's cold but doesn't taste good like halo halo.'' Kya remarked with a sad expression in her face.
''Yeah. Its just cold.'' Kai agreed.
Phil and Lil saw what their new friends did and shoved a handful of snow into their mouths. They shivered and smiled as they reached for more.
''Snow isn't for eating.'' Kai and Kya's eight year old cousin Jerwin told them while laughing.
''It can be.'' Ernesto said in thought.''We'll make snow ice cream later.''
''Yay.'' Jerwin cheered throwing a bunch of snow in the air.
''Let's show the babies how to have fun in the snow.
The babies found walking difficult and all four babies ended up face planting in the snow.
''It's ok.''Ernesto said as he helped the kids, who were crying from the cold back on their feet.
The babies were soon calmed down and put onto sleds. Ernesto whistled for Hana and Sadie to come and he tied one dog to each sled and lead them around the yard.
The babies had fun on the sleds. After awhile of riding they stopped to let the dogs have a rest.
''Can we build a snowman now?'' Jerwin asked.
''This is what Olaf is made of.'' Kya cried excitedly at hearing the word snowman.
''Ok. To make a perfect snowman you have to pack the snow like this and shape it like this.''Ernesto explained as he grabbed a handful of snow and formed it into a ball.
The babies copied the best that they could. Jerwin inspected their snowballs and added a bit more snow or helped shape it better. Once they had their snowmen put together Ernesto took the kids back inside to warm up a bit and to find things to decorate their snowmen with. Jerwin helped each baby pick out something from the dress up box. Kya declined that part,but was happy when Jerwin handed her a baby carrot.
''Don't eat these. They are the snowman's nose.'' Jerwin told them.
Soon everyone had what they needed and went back outside to decorate their snowmen. Jerwin found sticks for the arms for all of them since they couldn't walk easily in the snow.
Kya stuck the sticks for arms on the side just like Olaf and she placed the carrot for his nose on the head. She stood back and admired her creation.
''It's missing something.'' Kya said but before she could do anything else Hana came over and stole the carrot from her snowman.
Kya chased the dog as far as she could before falling face first into the snow.
Kya sat up and wiped the snow from her face. Hana came bounding over and dropped the carrot in Kya's lap.
''Hana why did you take Olaf's nose?'' Kya asked looking up at the large dog.
In response Hana licked Ky'a face and lifted her up by her pink snow suit and carried her back to her snowman.
Kya fixed Olaf's nose and then turned to Hana.''What do you think?''
Hana tilted her head and looked at the snowman.
''It's missing something but I don't know what.'' Kya said.
''You're making Olaf aren't you?''Kai asked staring at Kya's naked snowman.
''Yeah I am so.'' Kya answered her brother.
''He's missing hair.'' Kai pointed out.
''Oh yeah.'' Kya cried then turned to Hana.''Can you find some sticks for Olaf's hair.
Once again in response Hana licked Kya's face and ran off into the snow. She came back a few minutes later with a few small sticks.
''Thanks Hana.'' Kya said when Hana dropped the sticks near Kya.
Kya carefully stuck the sticks into the snowman complete.
After everyone was finished with their snowmen they were all brought in for bottles of hot chocolate. Kai and Kya rested against Hana while Phil and Lil reated against Sadie while watching a Christmas movie. Soon all were warm and fast asleep.
