When Phoenix walked into the office he'd expected the usual. You know, Apollo being annoyed over some small thing, Athena's Widget yelling obsceneities. But today was diffrent. He could feel it in the air, and it puzzled him.

"Hey, you guys feel like something's off today?" Phoenix asked to his co-workers, who seemed disintrested in what he had to say amyway.

"What are you talking about, it's a comepletely normal day," Apollo grumbled as he tried to stack files uncessfully. Athena blinked inquistelvely as she finally looked up.

"Now that you mention it. I did here this strange rumour today." She said, thinking as if the room would awnser her questions. Trucy was sitting in Phoenix's office chair, distracted and playing with her fingers.

"What? A rumour?" Phoenix quirked his brow, wondering if it was a opprurinaty new case. "What is it?"

"It's that Prosecuter Edgeworth is gay!" Trucy cut in, with words that made Phoenix freeze

"W-what?! I mean.. - Is it true?!" Phoenix said, still adjusting to the shock of that news. Well it would explain alot, but he was nontheless suprised.

"Who knows." Athena shrugged. The Widget spoke, "It's True, It's true!" Athena jumped, trying to stop it.

"Well I'm going to figure it out" Phoenix exclaimed, to the others as he put on his singature blue jacket. "Come on Truce, let's go."

It was time for court. Phoenix didn't know what was coming, but he was sure going to find out.

"-So, we can come to the conclusion my client, Idyno Cent, cannot be guilty! The one who did all of this is none other then.." Phoenix looked around, smug, as the cout oohed and ah'ed. Another case was about to be to easily won, "Fae Kurfand! Mrs Kurfand, you are the one behind this horrible crime!" Phoenix accused.

Fae shook her head, whimpering quietly and she looked away, "No please! It wasn't me! It wasn't meeeee!"

Phoenix shook his head, smirking. "Oh really? Then why are you the perfect culprit? Face it. You could of murdered the victum. Why else would you be holding a gun on your person?"

"Objection!" Miles said, slamming the desk in frustration. "It's perfectly reasonable to carry a gun for the sole prupose self-defense! And to add on, Mrs Kurfand is too afraid to even handle a gun!"

"Oh wow, Good job Mr Edgeworth!" The Judge cheered.

Phoenix frowned, trying to be confident more then he was.

"Hold it! Yeah, so don't you find it strange she had a gun on that night? Her innocence is just an act!" Phoenix said. "It wasn't for self-defense. Witness?"

"Yes.. Fae had told me she was about to do something she would regret just before she went up to the roof.." The witness said. "It was Fae! She killed the victum in cold blood!"

"This witness is a friend of Mrs Fae's. That tesistomy is proof of Fae's guilt!"

"Hold on! I demand we stall this trial one more day!" Said Miles, his words strained as he stopped the witness. "We need more evidence."

"Huh? Very well then Mr Edgeworth." The Judge banged his gavel , "Court is adjourned!"

"Hey Edgeworth why'd you do that?" Phoenix frowned as he found Miles in the defenandant's lobby. "I was this close to winning. Are you a just a sore loser?"

"Wright! Of course not! You know I'm not the type of man to do that," Miles said, iririration creeping into his tone. He was looked away, as if distracted or uneasy about somethnig. Then Phoenix remmeberbed what Trucy had said eariler.

"Oh yeah... Are you gay, Edgeworth?" Phoenix tilted his head, trying to study his friend, who looked startled at those words. Something was bothering Miles, Phoenix could tell. He just had to figure out what it was.

"What baseless assumptions," Miles said regianing his composure as he clenched his sleeves habitually.. "It's just.. this witness is-.. she, er, has a personal connection to me."

"W-what? A personal conenction?!" Phoenix said, his eyes widening as he took in that information. Sure sure, Miles was just trying to avoid the direction the conversation was going. He didn't believe that. "What kind of connection?"

"A romantic one," Miles said all-too quickly.

"W-whuh?! Since when did you...?" Phoenix sputtered, but then he saw Mrs Kurfand approaching. Oh great, he internally groaned. Now he couldn't question about Edgeworth's prefrences with her there.

"H-hi.. Mr W-w-w-wright.." Fae said quietly, shivering. Miles awkward put a hand on her shoulder. "Indeed Wright!" He announced as if t was some grand revalition. "-this is my .. partner."

"Um yes, We're ... w-w-w-we.. u-u-um.. yes we are."

She said too, looking away as she shrinked from the touch. She seemed less then sociable, less sociable then even Miles. Phoenix put a hand on his chin, thinking, still dazzled by the whole istuation. It was very odd to see Miles of all people with a girl. Finally, he remmebered that he had to talk.

"Miles, can I.. have a quick word with you alone?" Phoenix said, searhcing for a reactoion.

Miles glanced unceratinly back in forth to each of them. Fae looked nervous too, tugging on her hair as she quickly spoke. "I mean yes! P-pplease.. dont let me keep you!" She whimpered, looking around hesitantyl. "I-i-i-i reallyy don't mind!"

"Wright, what is this about?" Miles tapped his arm impatiently as he leaned agianst the door of the storage closet. Yeah, it was inconveinet, but it was all they had to get a little privacy. Plus Miles looked uncomfortable with other people around.

"Well.."

Should Phoenix just say what he was thinking? I mean it seemed a little blunt.. but also, this was Miles he was talking about. He wasn't going to say it yet, he had other questions to ask first incase Miles just kept silent on the matter.

"So first of all.. Do you actually think it wasn't her?"

"She would not have done such a thing willingly." Miles replied firmly, shaking his head as if Phoenix was unable to grasp his thoughts, frustrateingly, Phoenix moved on to what he really meant to say.

"Are you abusing her or something?"

Edgeworth starlted at that, "W-What?!.. What makes you think I'd do such a -"

"I don't know." Phoenix said, "But I think there's something you're not telling me. First you dodge my questions wiith vauge awnsers, and then-"

"Wright!" Miles snapped. "This discussion is none of your buisness, and frankly, it'd be best if you kept yourself out of it." He said finally, unflicningly. Phoenix almost stepped back, a bit taken aback by the words. Miles ususally wasn't so defensvie. He felt now bad for demanding to know all of this. Miles was right, it wasn't his buisness who his opposening counsel dated.

But he let it go, not wanitng to poke a sleeping lion. He nodded, a concedation of his defeat as they stepped out. He was just have to figure it out soon.

"So what? You confronted him?" Athena said, her eyes alight with curiosity. "What'd he say?"

"Uhh, it's complicated," Phoenix said. He knew Miles would probably not want this matter spreading any further then it was, so he refused the question even though he wondered about it, too.

When Athena saw he didn't awnser she pouted slightly, grumbling. Trucy listened on it, cruiosuity spiking her aswell. "But Daddy, didn't Mr Edgeworth get a girlfriend?"

"Yeah.." Athena nodded. "So there's no way he could actually be gay!"

Apollo looked back, coidentally dropping the file he carried. "Prosecuter Edgeworth got a girlfriend?" He gaped, his jaw slackening in sudden situautional irony and confusion.

"Yeah," Phoenix admitted, the news had very well been infront of his own eyes, even if he couldn't believe it. "I just think.. they're something wrong."

"What do you mean, boss?" Athena questioned . The Wiget was thankfully turned off. Phoenix didn't want it to asses his mood. Well, he didn't want to admit it but he was concerend about Mrs Fae, and mainly about Miles. Something was off..

"Nothing, it'll come to light soon," Phoenix assured her, though the words lacked conviciton. He had to figure it out soon. Miles couldn't hide foreever. Trucy finally spoke up. excitedly as she revealed her new idea:

"I have an idea! Let's spy on Mr Edgeworth!"
