Ch 3: Devoid Of Hatchlings
Once all the kids were picked up and handled, Scarlet headed home. She had to listen to Indi fuss about the entire thing the moment she mentioned Spadix was irritated but she wasn't really all that surprised. She headed to her brother's home, not really in the mood to return to her own. Garnet had spent all of the night before filling the younger fox with a string of fuss about how Scarlet's love life had turned out. She was sure Rusty could use a break from listening to it, she knew she could herself too.
In the past seven years, Scarlet had continued to be talked about around the island for being with a taken faunus, even more so once Jin bit her. It had led to a lot of unwanted attention again that she had not really had to deal with since she was a teenager. She loved the place she grew up and her family and taking care of the people the world forgot but now that Spadix was here, she wondered if maybe moving might be a good idea as she climbed the steps at her brother's home. Jin and Blanche really had been the only things lately keeping her here anymore.
She rubbed her tired face, letting out a sigh as her hand drifted to her neck, standing outside the front door. She thought about how her life had turned out while standing there. While she would not take any of her relationship with Jin back she did feel a bit like she had wasted years of her life for someone who would never feel the same. It irked her, having to admit inside that Carmine was probably right all these years when he'd tell her how stupid it was to do to herself. In truth, how could she just stop caring about someone who needed her at the time? Especially once she was marked by the dragon it was damn near impossible to say no.
She had thought about it once or twice over the years. Thought about just letting go and cutting her losses. But then Jin would do or say something that would make her melt and she would feel the need to stay. She was very aware of how things looked to people. She never bothered to humor any of it or try to fight it but the fact still remained. Everyone saw her as some sort of terrible person. They talked about her like she was manipulative and corruptive. In reality, things were much more complicated than that but it was no one else's business.
It was a good thing the town had never learned of her early mistakes. The things they would say if they knew would probably be unbearable. It was bad enough her own family would drudge it all up anytime she upset any of them. Bad enough that Jin had become an alcoholic over things. Bad enough that Scarlet's real reasons for never trying to invest interest in Jin's beloved family were because of Blake and Yang's hatred of her and wanting to keep the peace for Jin's sake.
She let out a defeated sigh. The sting was still lingering in her chest from hearing Spadix admit she and Jin were already talking about things like kids. She wasn't sure what she really expected. That only made sense that it would become a reality eventually. Maybe she had hoped it wouldn't be so sudden and that Jin might let her go beforehand. Really it was unfair torture to keep Scarlet marked while trying to start a family with someone else.
Jin probably didn't bother to learn too much about these things in all her wasted stupors but by instinct this would cause Scarlet pain. There was no way to avoid it. The side effects of this mark would make her entire being shatter at the fact when it happened. In a way, Scarlet accepted it. Maybe it would teach her to be careful with her heart again like before and go back to keeping people at an emotional distance, meant for pleasure but not love.
As her mind tried to decipher if it was intentional towards her or simply Jin being careless, the door in front of her opened and a little child came running out, wrapping around her leg happily, "Nanny!"
Scarlet was pulled back to reality by little Blanche around her leg. She smiled though it was weary and leaned down, snatching up the little fox into her arms and holding her tightly, "Well hello there pup! Miss me?"
The child nodded as Yuki came to the door, "I was wondering what she just ran outside for. You usually call first. Something happen?"
Yuki didn't need an answer to know that she was right. The sorrow hidden behind Scarlet's smile was showing in her eyes. The tiger stepped inside and let them in, "Come on. I'll make some tea. Carmine is working with your father right now."
Scarlet just quietly entered, still holding her niece. Even being here was hard. Jin had pitched in to help them all build it for the young family but she would rather be around Yuki than anyone else right now. Yuki who had always simply understood her and rarely just unloaded lectures on her without being asked. Blanche also always brought Scarlet joy. The little girl was six now and a bundle of carefree joy that Scarlet missed in life.
When Blanche looked behind her and around, Scarlet sighed, "She's not here little pup."
The girl gave a whine, tugging at Scarlet's shirt collar, "how come?"
Scarlet didn't really know how to explain this to a child. She had never really had to. Jin had been around all of Blanche's life. The little albino pup was extremely fond of both of them, even wanting to one day be a Huntress like them. Jin would always play fight with her since the pup had no one to play with at home. Scarlet was convinced Blanche might even like Jin more than herself, though that seemed to be a popular opinion of people nowadays.
Thankfully, Yuki was back and taking Blanche, setting her off to the floor, "Let's let Nanny sit for a minute Blanche. She just had a mission and she is probably tired. Why don't you go play for a bit, ok?"
Easily rerouted, Blanche nodded, running off to her room, "Yes Mama!"
Scarlet gave a smile, watching her leave and taking a cup with a thank you before slumping into the couch, head tilting back to stare at the ceiling. Yuki sighed, "You looked like you needed rescuing. Now, why are you here like this? You never just show up. You and Carmine don't get along well enough for that. What happened?"
Scarlet was watching the ceiling fan turn slowly and stayed quiet for a while, only moving to scratch at her neck a bit as the mark was irritated under her collar. Finally, a weak smile was on her lips that didn't match the expression in her eyes, "Her partner is back. I didn't really know where else to go today. It just felt right to come here. I figured Mama would've told you and Carmine by now…"
"She did." Yuki responded simply, stirring her tea to get the milk to mix better, "but I don't like to assume anything and unlike your family I don't butt in, you know this. I assume this is why you came here?"
Scarlet shrugged, "I would've gone home but… well my mission was with the little owl. She told me they are talking about children already. Somehow, I just couldn't bring myself to go home after that…"
Yuki raised a brow, glancing at Scarlet with a bit of worry, "Already?! But didn't she just get here?"
Scarlet let out a weak chuckle, "I'm sure it's because of me and my mistakes. Though I admit I'd hoped Jin would have released me at least first…"
Now Yuki's mouth tightened into a frown, "So she hasn't let you go?"
The fox reached and gripped her shirt collar, lowering it enough to show the scar, "No. And I can't figure out how I actually feel about it either."
She rolled her head to stare at the cup in her hands, not wanting to meet Yuki's gaze, "Maybe I deserve this. Maybe without me around they would have found one another sooner. Jin would have never had to make a poor decision. People wouldn't talk about our family because of me. Maybe I deserve this pain… part of me hopes she doesn't release me so I have to suffer for anything I have done…"
"Enough," Yuki's voice was firm, "Normally I don't get involved but I won't let you talk like that. You have done nothing but take care of her drunk ass for seven years. You have loved her, cared for her, excused every outrageous behavior of hers and taken responsibility for the clean ups, taken a verbal lashing from almost every older faunus on the island on a daily basis because of her while she has had to deal with none of that. So what if her drinking started to deal with a mistake you made? You didn't put the bottle in her hand or make her drink it. You even tried to help her stop. She has practically begged you to stay around her constantly and you have obliged. You told me she knows how you truly feel and you told me she doesn't feel the same. She has been using you for your love to avoid her own demons for seven years. You have already paid for your sins. You don't deserve anything at this point except a chance to find someone who can actually love you, not just use your love to satisfy their own lonely needs to avoid having to deal with things."
Scarlet just stared at her drink quietly. The tiger huffed at her silence, "Stop it. People have been using you since you were a girl. It only makes sense that you act the way you do most of the time. For someone with such a powerful beast you are a big softie and just roll over easily don't you?"
She set down her untouched drink. Nothing Yuki was saying mattered to her. What mattered was that she didn't feel like she deserved peace and if hurting was what came of it then she accepted it, "Would it be alright if I got some sleep here?"
The tiger watched her for a moment and sighed, "Yes. You know where the room is."
Scarlet stood, making her way towards the hall with the tiger watching her. When she got to the hallway, Yuki stopped her, "Scarlet, don't you dare show any of that self loathing behavior to my daughter. Understand?"
Scarlet gave a grin, "Please, I would never teach that pup anything but the best."
Once alone in the guest room, she curled on the bed, staring at the wall. She could vaguely hear Blanche playing in the other room. Normally it would bring her happiness but right now it just made her ache. She fiddled with her scroll for a moment, sending a message to Indi to see if they had any need of transfers to other locations before she let sleep take her.
—-
In the morning, Spadix sat up with a groan, stretching. Her entire body ached from the long night of activity with Jin though thinking back on it all made her face turn red even as she smiled. About halfway through everything last night, she had managed to strike some sort of spark in Jin and things had turned to more familiar territory. Jin's inner beast had shown some of her old dominance and Spadix was covered across her shoulders and chest were covered in bruises from Jin's teeth.
Currently, the dragon was still sleeping, Spadix gently removing her arm from around herself with a soft smile as she got out of the bed. Her body was also covered in a mess of their fluids and she was ready for a shower. As nice as it was to stay in bed watching Jin sleep wrapped in the dragon's hold, she was still an early riser and couldn't deal with how gross her skin felt any longer. As she climbed into the shower, she let herself relax under the hot water with a sigh. Fingers ran across the bruises and she let herself think back on everything.
From their moment in the bath in Jin's lap until it expanded out to Jin's bed with the dragon asserting herself a bit more forcefully, Spadix pressed between Jin and soft sheets, easily pushed to submission at the sounds of hungry growls and rough biting against her skin along with soreness below at the use of the toy between them. That had really allowed Jin to thrive last night, clearly it was still something they would always have but she did miss the old one a bit since it was an easier size to take.
She rolled her shoulder a bit, flinching at the old pains from sensitive nerves that never stopped from the traumatic bite in Beacon. Her hand moved to rub the scar, grunting a bit. It was always hardest in the mornings, the nerve endings flaring up in pain if she slept on it wrong or was too strenuous with her body. Sure she had been able to make an almost full recovery from the injury, something Jin clearly didn't get to experience with a fake eye and deep visible scars on her face, but Spadix still had problems from it. The artery was narrower now there, her nerves didn't all entirely heal leaving her with some that she didn't feel anymore at all and some that often flared up in irritation and pain, and it was just more scars she worried about keeping covered along with the ones down her arms.
She rested her forehead against the shower tiles, closing her eyes and going through stretches for it under the hot water that helped the muscles relax from the spasms the nerves caused, having been doing this so long now she knew them by heart. Hands slowly snaked their way around her waist and lips brushed the deep scar lightly, making her smile as she felt the muscular form of the dragon press close into her back. She reached up with her hand to run talons through long blonde hair with a light hum in response to the affections as a sleepy voice spoke against her skin, "Why didn't you wake me? I'd have joined you sooner."
Spadix chuckled lightly, "You don't like to wake up in the morning. It hasn't changed over the years. I figured it'd be easier to let you sleep."
Jin watched her make motions with her arm and nuzzled into the scar, "Is it bothering you?"
Spadix turned to kiss her cheek, "A little but it's normal in the morning. Don't worry about it."
Gentle fingers trailed from her waist along skin to the scar, rubbing the skin the same light way Jin used to rub her arm scars and she let out soft coos in appreciation, her voice carrying a light warning as Jin's other hand started to roam, "Behave… we have places to go and I'm really sore from you already."
Jin just chuckled, nipping her ear, "Oh alright. But I can't help that you still have such a strong effect on me. I haven't changed in how I show affection, you know."
The owl could only smile, handing over a soaped rag, "Here then, make those hands useful and help with my back instead of all your roaming around."
The shower got a bit out of hand quickly as Jin didn't calm herself but Spadix's squinted face at any touches to her already abused regions got Jin to back down, eventually the two getting out as the water ran cold. Gunner had left breakfast out for them of some seasonal fruits from the garden and some homemade breads. As they ate, Spadix whined at the tasty foods, "Ok but… how is that boy single? He can clean, cook, garden, do house repairs, the works!"
Jin just chuckled, clearly amused and Spadix raised a brow, "Oh, sorry I'm not laughing at you, promise. Gunner is Aroace. He doesn't have any romantic or sexual attractions and he's a bit sex repulsed. It would be like taking Sterling and Indi and blending them together but with an added strong aversion to sex of any kind. He actually is just happy doing what he does already."
Spadix blinked. When she was younger, before getting to know Jin intimately, she might have been envious of such an existence. But now, she was very glad she wasn't like that, especially now that she was older and more comfortable with her scars and her own desires, "Do you think he will be ok with babies around?"
Jin gave a warm smile, reaching over to mess with Spadix's hair. She really loved how the owl kept it now with the shaved portions and the long strand in the back, "He loves kids."
She considered giving the example but caught herself before she could ruin Spadix's mood. Bringing up Blanche or Scarlet right now might be a very bad idea with how pleasant the morning was. Luckily, Spadix didn't seem to need any proof as she finished her food. When she got back from bringing the plate to the sink, she looped her arms around Jin and nuzzled into her hair, breathing in the dragon's scent deeply.
It was so much nicer now that Scarlet's scent was completely gone from Jin's body, Spadix's beast finally able to relax better around Jin, "We should go soon. It's a long trip to Vale."
Jin nodded, pushing the last of her food into her mouth. She didn't really think about it much but it had come across a bit sultry and seemed to make Spadix prickle unhappily a tad. Jin had to admit there were a lot of flirtatious habits she had developed based around Scarlet's anatomy that had just become second nature over the years that she was going to have to consciously break if she didn't want to irritate Spadix's beast. While no one had ever told Spadix directly about Scarlet, she was sure the bird had figured it out after the knowledge of Jin's past accidental pregnancy was out. Spadix had always been extremely smart, smartest of their entire school year every year so she didn't put it past her to have figured it all out quickly.
"S…sorry…" she whispered but Spadix seemed to be fine just as quickly.
It was a good sign the owl was relaxing about everything or at least starting to. Jin wasn't really sure how long that might take but she was more than willing to accept any and all punishments Spadix pressed on her from her inner beast if it meant the owl emotionally healed from their time apart. Besides, she was the one who was too weak to be alone while Spadix had found a way to suffer in silence by herself. Sure, she could be mad about Spadix dating and probably having sex with Indi but that had not lasted even half a year and the two split up the moment they knew they couldn't fall for each other properly, something Jin had selfishly not done with Scarlet.
Jin was well aware she probably did more harm to Scarlet than the fox ever did to her but she was never going to apologize for it. She refused. Both sides had been very aware of every choice they had made and neither had backed down so she didn't see a point in apologizing to the fox or seeking an apology. Spadix gathered a duffle of things they might need as Jin messaged Blake, securing a place for them to stay while they were in town for however long the visits might take.
Her aunt was nice enough to get them private transport so they wouldn't have to spend a week on a boat to Vale, something she knew she would need to thank the woman for with a visit while in town rather than just a message or call. She hadn't actually seen much of her aunts since she moved to Menagerie as her family usually came to her. The ride on the boat was calm, Jin watching Spadix enjoy the view before the owl came back to sit with her, "Jin…"
The dragon hummed in response, reaching to pull Spadix close in her lap and holding her in her own warmth, helping keep the owl from getting cold, nuzzling into her mark on her neck. Spadix sighed contently at her affections, curling up closer for the extra warmth and playing with some of Jin's hair, "Are you sure you're ok with this? Considering everything… I know it was a long time ago but… I don't want you to struggle with all this."
The dragon nodded and kissed Spadix's cheek and jaw, feeling the woman shiver at her lips, "I mean sure I was still dealing with some things when you made me talk about it but I promise it's fine. I was already starting to work on myself lately since everything because I'm fine."
"You sure?" Spadix asked with a bit of a groan as those lips brimming with the same heat Jin's body was putting off traveled down her neck.
Jin was sure it might make Spadix unhappy to mention it but there was probably a little fox pup that was going to also be sad when Jin didn't come around anymore. The thought also felt wrong, like Blanche was going to have to suffer a loss for something that had nothing to do with her, "Promise not to get upset Little Bird?"
Spadix at first felt her beast prickle but Jin's voice was sincere and she wanted to know anything and everything about her now, even if it hurt, "Tell me…"
"Scarlet's niece, Blanche, is six. She adores Scarlet so she was around us a ton from the time she was in diapers until… well now I guess. So Gunner was used to having a baby and toddler around when she would come stay with us while her sister-in-law and brother needed breaks," Jin whispered, still giving Spadix's neck her attentions.
Spadix squirmed a bit but she couldn't be mad over that. It would be wrong of her to expect the fox to ignore her family for Jin. In fact, she was happy knowing that because it meant Scarlet at least wasn't entirely absorbed in Spadix's dragon. She relaxed into Jin, "Well… good to know babies like you."
Jin blushed a bit but chuckled, resting her face into Spadix's shoulder as silence took over them again. By nightfall, they were arriving at her parents' home, tired and worn down from the speedy trip across the sea. Blake was outside with Leo bouncing around excited to see Jin as they walked up. It had been so long since Jin had been here, especially with Spadix, a sense of nostalgia washed over her. It felt great really and she felt a sense of peace inside she hadn't felt in a while as they advanced up the steps. Leo wrapped around Jin in a tight hug that made her laugh and pat him as Blake smiled, "It's been a while Spadix. Nice to see you again."
The owl smiled, watching as Leo ran inside to go get Yang, "I'm glad to be here. Thanks for letting us stay."
Blake just led them inside, "Please, my family is always welcome here. Come on, Yang will want to see you. She has always liked you better than anyone Jin has ever taken to."
While that made Spadix grin, Jin knew it was a jab at her most recent ex, rubbing the back of her neck a bit sheepishly. Yang was in the living room trying not to pass out over paperwork for student combat evals as they entered. It was very late and the woman was extremely exhausted already, getting students ready for midterms and prepping upperclassmen for the Bracket Games. Leo was tugging at her, his tail whipping around in his excitement, the blonde chuckling as she held her hand down on the paperwork before his tail could knock anything over, "Ok ok buddy I'm awake."
Jin walked into the living room to greet Yang, who stood up with a stretch and yanked Jin into an embrace. As the blondes were making exchanges, Blake leaned closer to Spadix, "Yang doesn't know. Better to respect Jin's wishes and keep it that way. You would cause a lot of trouble if she found out."
Spadix glanced to her side at Blake but those amber eyes were intense and serious. She was clearly being warned not asked. For the first time in her entire time knowing Blake, the press of the cat's alpha was immeasurable and it surprised Spadix some, having never really noticed Blake was an alpha to begin with and she could only nod. The parents knew why they were in town so Spadix assumed it's why Blake felt the need to express such a strong statement before Yang could even talk to Spadix.
They watched their blondes for a bit before Spadix felt the energy return to normal next to her. Blake was clearly one of the calmest alphas Spadix had ever met if she could easily hide her alpha energy so well. It was a bit nerve racking to say the least but she was taken out of such thoughts as Yang grabbed her in a hug that pulled her off the ground, the blonde not even bothering to be civil about things as she grinned, "Aha! I'm so fucking glad to see you! I was waiting for you to be back around!"
Spadix huffed at the strong grip and tried to laugh off the statement, watching Jin frown at Yang's audacity, "Yes well… I missed everyone too."
She was set back down, Yang moving to place her hands on her own hips as she stared at Spadix, "that's how you decide to avoid that one huh? Interesting choice. So, thinking about kids then huh?"
Blake nudged Yang hard in the side, narrowing her eyes at her wife as Leo was squeezing around everyone in the archway to get back to Jin, standing next to her happily. Leo was the only child so far to show no interest so far in being a Huntsman, something Yang was confused about but Blake was actually a bit happy about. It was a dangerous profession after all and while she never tried to sway her children and was always supportive of any choice, she was glad to have at least one less child to worry about. He was still young enough to change his mind though so one could only wait and see.
Jin ruffled his hair as she was engaged in the conversation, showing him she wasn't ignoring him, "Yes. That a problem, mother?"
Yang just laughed wholly, "Nah! You are already much older than we were when you were born! I'm honestly surprised this is the first time in your life kids are a topic."
There was a sense of discomfort amongst the three who did know about the past though if Yang noticed, she didn't show it. Jin was suddenly tense but hid it well, trying her best to just smile about it. Spadix could feel Jin's inner beast's energy crawling uncomfortably and trying its best to stay calm. She could only imagine how hard that might have been for so long dealing with Yang just not knowing but knowing her old professor she could easily understand why she didn't know. Blake just eyed Spadix carefully, watching to be sure she didn't give anything away.
Blake quickly saved them from the discomfort, "You better not have asked your Aunt to help you pay for this, Jin."
Jin growled, annoyed by the implication but Spadix reached out, touching her arm before speaking, "Actually, this is all being handled by me. My brother left me a small fortune I've barely touched and since I've never had to use any money to pay for things like rent or anything a ton of my work money has gone unused."
Yang noticed Jin got irritated a bit by that and smirked, "What's the matter Jin, can't handle not providing?"
Again, Blake nudged Yang to shut her up, "don't patronize your daughter Yang. you two are past this tit for tat."
Yang just shrugged and laughed it off, finally yawning, "Alright well, I'm beat. I'm glad I stayed up long enough to see you both but I really should get some sleep. Work won't wait tomorrow just because you two are visiting and it's my turn to bring Leo to your grandpa's in the morning."
Blake watched Yang wish the women goodnight and give a nudge to Leo's shoulder, "off to bed little man. We have to be up super early. I have classes earlier than your mom."
He whined but Blake brushed his thick blonde hair from his forehead gently, "They will be here for a while sweetie you can see them tomorrow."
He huffed but hugged Jin and followed Yang up the stairs. Jin had missed seeing her parents with her siblings like this and it made her wonder if she would end up like either of them with her own children as Spadix was furrowing her brows, glancing to Blake, "You work now?"
The cat smiled softly, "Well now that I'm finally not raising a bunch of children yes. I teach at Beacon as well. Literature and History. Is that so hard to believe?"
She was quick to fix the assumption she had implied, cheeks red, "I'm sorry I just… you were always a stay at home parent I just never thought you were going to work."
Jin chuckled, "She had too many kids running around. She was always very invested in raising us and didn't want other people raising her kids. Of course she stayed home but Mom quit working for me. I was a super sick kid. After that she had more kids and well you saw that yourself. But Mom was always making sure to take the time to focus on us."
Blake smiled, feeling very proud, though she sighed, "If only Azure could understand that."
"She still being…well… Azure?" Jin commented as she took Spadix's hand, making her way towards the living room.
Blake nodded, rubbing her face, "Yes. Still smoking and breaking into the roof on campus and your mother keeps giving her a hard time about following Autumn into trouble all the time."
Jin frowned, "Doesn't Mother understand though? Autumn is going to do those things with or without Azure. My sister is just worried about her."
Her mom shrugged, "I tried to explain that to her but you know how your mother is. Speaking of which, I should go to bed myself. I have work as well. Your old room is an office now but the playroom is a guest room now. We put on fresh sheets. You'll be staying there."
Jin nodded, leaning to Spadix, "Can you take the bag? I'll be there in a sec."
While Spadix could tell something was up, she didn't try to impose on the two, nodding and bringing the bag to the room. She waited there, sitting upon the bed. This room held memories for the two and it made her face dust in a light blush as she recalled them, nibbling on her talon. It was here when Jin told her she loved her for the first time, when she experienced oral intimacy for the first time. Her face turned a darker shade at that, pulling her legs up and hugging them.
When Spadix was gone, Jin felt Blake hug her, "Are you sure this is something you are going to be able to do? I can't hide this one from your mother this time."
Jin grasped hold of Blake and hugged back, letting out a deep breath, "Yea. I'm sure. I've been more or less ok for a long time now. Sorry if I've kept you both worried about me. I know my vices got out of hand for a while…"
Blake released her, raising a brow, "You tried to fight your cousin at her own wedding… out of hand might be a bit of an understatement."
Jin just covered her face in a hand, groaning, "Yeaaa that wasn't my finest moment but I was going through so much and Indi and Sterling were both there and I just… missed Spadix so much I couldn't stand it. Mom… I just want to move forward ok? I'll be ok. I'm doing so great already. Really."
Blake just nodded then headed off to bed. When Jin entered the guest room, she immediately closed the door and knelt at Spadix's feet, the owl's tears easy to hear even with her face hidden in her knees and arms, "Little Bird what's wrong?"
Spadix tried to stop herself but only managed to speak through her crying, "It's really hard to be in here… Do you remember what happened in this room? I thought I'd never be here again or see you again. I'm just a little overwhelmed."
Jin's face softened, a gentle smile growing as she reached out, hands moving along Spadix's legs and gently pulling them down away from her face to the floor. She stared up at Spadix's wet face and falling tears and kissed along her legs even with the leggings still blocking skin from her, she could feel Spadix's shivering and her body twitching with her shuddering breaths from her emotions, "How could I ever forget what happened here?"
With Spadix so emotional, something old in Jin stoked into a burning flame and she released a low growl from her chest, watching as Spadix's swirled orbs locked onto her. She could feel her lover's body tremble as her lips made their way further up her leg to her knee, "Want me to prove it to you?"
Spadix felt breathless, sucking in air as best she could, nodding weakly as her energy shifted into complete submission, needing her dragon back fully in this moment, a soft whimper leaving her, "Y-yes… please…"
Jin growled deeper, grinning as she ran her hands up to Spadix's hips, taking hold of her shorts and opening them as her lips made their way along Spadix's thigh. The owl cooed softly, trembling at every touch as her energy reverted sub, drawing a forgotten flex out of Jin like a blazing wildfire. In no time, the dragon was pulling away her leggings and shorts until they were completely removed from her body. Teeth and lips made their way along skin, hands grasping Spadix's knees and parting them further until her core became fully exposed to Jin still at her feet.
While Jin had never been an aggressive alpha towards Spadix except during heat, she could tell Spadix needed to be cared for right now. Her beast's energy reaching out and grasping hold of Spadix's until it was overwhelming the owl, making her weak to Jin happily. It had been so long since Spadix had felt Jin's beast holding hers like this, taking charge of hers and sliding along her like she was in its grasp with not a worry or care. Her talons reached but Jin grabbed them quickly, holding them away with a deep rumble from within as she glanced up, "No. just lean back and let me do this. Like the first time. Just relax for me."
Spadix could only nod, moving her hands to the bed and leaning back on them as she watched the dragon's mouth travel to her lower lips, the slit tongue running along her folds. She quickly moved a hand to bite down on her talon, trying to silence herself, her eyes scrunched up closed trying to focus on making little to no noise. Even if they were adults, the house was still the same and it would just be embarrassing if Blake heard them again like that time. That part she did not wish to relive.
Jin kissed her skin, glancing up, "Spadix."
When she saw an eye open to look at her, she gave Spadix the warmest look she could, full of adoration, "I love you. More than anything or anyone."
Spadix's eyes watered and she whimpered, fresh tears on her skin, "I love you so much…please don't ever abandon me again…"
Jin rumbled loudly and kissed Spadix's skin above her core sweetly, "Never. I'm so sorry. I promise never again."
She lowered her lips and pushed her tongue against wet folds, making several strokes and groaning herself at the sounds Spadix was suppressing. She could feel her beast swelling with satisfaction and pride at how she could please Spadix, pressing her tongue past the folds to circle the sensitive throbbing clit, grinning when she heard Spadix cover her mouth to muffle a gasp. It was like the first time all right minus the futon for a real bed and they weren't young anymore though it still seemed as emotional as that first time.
As wet spread across her chin, tongue teasing and circling the bundle of nerves, Spadix's hips shifted closer, desperate for more. Every deep breath and muffled moan was driving Jin wild inside, her own body growing closer herself in ways she hadn't felt in so long. No one affected her so easily like her mate did and she was sure no one else ever would. Scarlet could please her for sure but she couldn't make Jin cum just from satisfying the fox. That was something only Spadix had ever held over her and she adored it. Proof her inner alpha felt extremely satisfied in all she could provide the owl.
When hips were bucking against her mouth, she moved lower, tongue sliding as deep as it could within Spadix's sex and thrusting and sliding along anything she could reach, letting her tongue shake with her deep rumblings in her chest. A hand tangled into her hair, pressing her in harder as Spadix twitched and shook in response to everything. The owl still loved this, the feeling of Jin's tongue inside her, sometimes more than she liked it elsewhere. It was getting harder to suppress her noises but she was so very close, only needing a bit more.
As Jin's fingers began to stroke and tease her sensitive clit, she was granted the extra push needed to fall over the edge, hand blocking intense moans as her hips rolled into Jin's face, painting her release along Jin's tongue and mouth and face. the dragon groaned, squirming, her other hand already down between her own folds inside her underwear, helping soothe the intense arousal her faunus was driving in her and as she swallowed as much as she could, she found her own climax, panting against Spadix's core as her own body locked tensely in her throughs.
When they came down, Spadix laying back panting along soft sheets, Jin moved onto the bed, kissing along her body to her lips, locking in a deep kiss full of passion and love, Spadix groaning as she tasted herself in Jin's lips and tongue. When they parted for air, Jin smirked, "Hey… this time… I don't have to leave. I can just hold you all night."
Spadix turned red, shoving Jin's shoulder lightly. When Jin chuckled she huffed, "Why Jin… are you trying to charm me?"
The dragon grinned, nuzzling her as she got up. She left to get a rag to help clean them up before tossing it to the side for now, tucking them both into the blankets and pulling the owl close, "Depends… is it working?"
Spadix hummed happily, snuggling into Jin's embrace, "Absolutely."

When they woke up, Spadix was surprised to have Jin awake before her, nuzzling into her all over and practically purring at her. It was a noise she missed so much she didn't want to leave this moment, her hands reaching to hold onto Jin and watched as the dragon grinned, "Morning Little Bird."
"morning yourself… h-how are you awake right now?" Spadix said, kissing along the mate mark on Jin's neck.
"It's more like I never slept. You were so peaceful to watch and I was too excited for today I just couldn't sleep," Jin admitted, pressing closer into Spadix and curling up around the smaller body, wrapping herself around Spadix with such warmth and protectiveness, Spadix couldn't help but whine happily, "You should have slept…"
Her talons ran through blonde wild hair as Jin just shrugged. She would be lying if she said she wasn't also excited but her contentment from the night before had been the reason she slept a bit too well. Every attempt for a good half hour of her trying to get up to get ready was met with a warning growl from Jin who held on tighter. It might have made anyone else annoyed but it only made Spadix well too comfortable to even want anything else. Finally, she convinced Jin to let go, "If I can't get up we will never have any babies."
That was more than enough to get the dragon moving, with a few kisses on her cheek for good measure helping as well. It made Spadix grin and roll her eyes how quickly she had gotten Jin to shift gears and get up to get ready, the two leaving soon after a shower for the appointment. The house was empty of anyone else already so Jin locked up behind them. It was amusing to her a bit when they got there that they would be seeing a very old gentleman who had helped her own parents bring her and her siblings into existence.
Spadix seemed confused as they waited in the office but Jin just smiled, "Oh… we should just thank him when we see him too. After all without him and his research… I'd have never been born."
The owl chuckled, "Oh? Well then I owe him a hug and a kick in the shin for everything your existence has caused."
Jin frowned and huffed but smiled after, seeing the way Spadix was smiling at her. When they were called back and the man entered, he glanced at his tablet then back up then glanced again, "Oh! Why I'll be. I've finally been doing this long enough for one of the babies
I've delivered to be here in my office. How about that?"
He chuckled and Jin grinned, "Well you are the best doc. No one else will do."
He just beamed. He had still remained a rather cheerly man, happy to provide help to people in his services. He smiled at the owl, "Well my dear let's take some blood work for both of you and see what I can't do for you alright?"
She nodded nervously. While she had gotten a bit more comfortable with all her scars over the years, she still hated them being seen or doctors touching them. Jin gave hers first and noticed Spadix baring her teeth at the doctor as he got closer to her, "Hang on doc."
He stopped, glancing at Jin a moment then back at the owl noticing her tense body. Jin reached and pulled Spadix gently into her arms, holding her in her lap close. She massaged into her tense muscles with one arm and held her tightly in the other, nuzzling into her neck, "It's ok Little Bird. It's for a baby, remember? You only have to do this once they will hold onto everything so try to relax ok? I'm right here."
The owl began to relax, whimpering a bit as she hid her face against Jin and let the dragon slide her sleeve back. When the doctor saw the scars on her arm he softened, fully understanding, "I'm sorry my dear. I'll be quick."
It was extremely uncomfortable for her and she did her best to stay calm but she got through it with Jin's help to comfort her. He got their blood handed off to a nurse then turned to them, "Alright. I'm going to step out for a moment. Can I get whoever is planning to carry the baby to put the gown on and be on the table please? I need to also proceed with a physical exam to be sure everything is in proper order."
He left and Jin nuzzled Spadix's face, feeling her trembling all over, "You ok to do this? If it's too much we can always try something else…"
As her breathing leveled out she nodded, "Yes. That part will be fine. It was just him touching my arms that was hard."
Jin nodded, letting go as Spadix undressed and put the gown on, giving Jin an angry glare as the gown swallowed the tiny form and Jin couldn't help but chuckle. When the doctor returned a while later, he already had their blood analysis, science able to do so very quickly now. He seemed to be making a strange face at them that worried the women a bit but he set it down, "Alright, before we discuss that, let's take a look at you and see how things are."
It was unpleasant for her to say the least, having someone she didn't know poking around her most intimate insides grunting at the pressures and pains it was causing, only made more nerve wracking when he seemed to have a very adverse response to anything he was finding. At this point, Jin was very concerned. She was more than certain this part shouldn't be that painful or the man would have said so. She couldn't recall her parents or aunts ever saying anything about it hurting either.
When he was finished, he didn't have the same cheeriness he had started this appointment with and Jin could feel her heart rapidly sinking. She had a feeling she knew where this was going and it was making her quickly nervous and worried about Spadix as the doctor threw out his gloves, "I'll let you get dressed then we can discuss everything alright?"
Spadix was clearly picking up on his behavior too because her face seemed devoid of any sort of good expression, nodding without a word. When he left, she was slow to get out the gown and very quiet as she got dressed clearly wincing when she moved her lower body certain ways, moving to climb into Jin's arms instead of back on the table, clinging to her with a whisper, "He's going to say something bad…isn't he?"
Jin took a deep breath and held Spadix tightly, "I don't know. Let's just wait to hear what he says before we jump to anything. Are you ok?"
Spadix shook her head no as he entered the room, sitting in his chair and pulling over the tablet with their results, "alright my dears. I'm sorry to say, this isn't common but it still happens sometimes. Jin, you are a viable candidate for being the inseminating parent. Spadix, have you ever had an exam before?"
She shook her head nod, unable to fully look at him though her eyes were watching him. His face softened even more and he nodded, "I thought not otherwise I doubt you'd be here. Your reproductive system isn't fully developed. Or rather I should say it's underdeveloped or devoid of proper development. We usually see this in people who suffered extreme amounts of trauma and pressure on the body in youth like serious sexual abuse or intense injury around the area. Sometimes it's a birth defect but in short… you can't have children. You can't birth or carry any. I'm so sorry my dear."
Spadix's brain zoned out into white noise as she tried to absorb such sudden devastating information. Words began to sound like a blur of nonsense as she tried to grasp the information. She couldn't even begin to understand what he meant. She couldn't recall ever being harmed there of all places. A birth defect maybe but had something happened to her she couldn't remember? Why would he mention such a thing unless maybe it was possible?
As she was struggling to understand and let the information sink in, Jin was holding her tightly, still speaking with the doctor, "Well.. examine me then. I'll do it for us."
He shook his head, "No point. She isn't viable to be the inseminating parent either. I'm sorry ladies but I can't help you have children without a donor or another person involved. I wish I had better news for you."
Spadix slowly tuned back in, face blank, "Why can't I be the other parent…"
"Well, it requires viable ovaries that can use the serums to produce transformed sperm-like secretions to impregnate the other for starters… but yours appear to have been removed. You also can't carry because your other reproductive organs seem to be too small and lack any elasticity or ability to stretch in other words your uterus would not be able to accommodate fetal growth nor would anything be able to allow something as large as a baby to pass through," he said, making a strange face as if she should have known this information.
There was an expression of distress and panic on Spadix's face. She didn't need to be told to know clearly her parents had something surgical done to her in her infancy beyond just making her a 'different' faunus. It wouldn't surprise her if they didn't want her to ever have any children that could come back for their fortune, their cruelty knew no limits when it came to making changes to her form in order to control her life and future. Still, it was hard to swallow. Slowly, she pulled from Jin after he walked out the room, not wanting to be touched at all right now.
Jin tried to grab for her but she dodged, holding up a hand, "N-no… please… not right now…"
She couldn't look at Jin's face right now, trying to feel like she was broken or see any of Jin's sorrow either which would only bring her further into an emotional darkness. Jin didn't really know what to do. In a small part of her mind, she regretted aborting her baby again, knowing Spadix would have been capable of loving it and thinking maybe she had ruined things for them too but she buried the thought quickly. It wasn't what either of them actually wanted and would probably still have been a terrible life for the child until Spadix came around since Jin knew she couldn't properly love it.
"I'll wait for you outside ok? Take your time…" was the only thing she could think to do even if she didn't want to.
Spadix's nod told her though that it was the right choice for now. Jin slipped from the room and went to try to pay for them but the nurse shook her head, "He said not to charge you for your visit and to let you know once again how sorry he is for your situation. He said to tell you if you want to work with a donor or another person, while he doesn't normally handle those he would be more than happy to work with you two."
Jin nodded though she wasn't interested in either of those choices it was still good to know in the event Spadix was. She was pretty sure the owl wouldn't be though. While humans and even interracial pairs probably could handle it, bonded pairs of faunus tended to be unable to accept such things, unable to get their beasts to accept someone else's biological child or struggling with maternal faunus instincts when a non biological parent tries to be close to the child. It was unfair but it was instinct and there wasn't much one could do about it.
Still, she thanked the receptionist and stepped outside, letting the fresh air help clear her head. She needed to try to get her emotions past this fast so she could take care of Spadix. She quickly messaged Blake, telling her it was likely they would be heading home sooner than they thought which prompted the woman to call Jin, the dragon silent for a long time before explaining everything, her voice clearly shaking.
Spadix left the room after she could properly breathe again, still in shock but she knew any moment the devastation was going to fully hit her and she didn't want to be here when that happened. She saw the doctor outside the room, stopping him, "you… said another person or a donor… what do you mean by another person?"
He glanced around, "Let's step back into the room. This isn't a topic I discuss in the open. Everything is always confidential."
She nodded, slipping back in with him. He turned to her, "So, there's a donor option of course. But the options that involve a third person include a surrogate if they are viable to use Jin as a donor or I could give you a serum made from your genetics that a third can swallow and it would alter their secretion. It would basically allow them to merge your genetics with theirs that they are passing. So the offspring would technically have three genetic biological parents. the third, Jin, and well you. If that third is a woman of course she would have to come be verified to be viable and select an option for being able to inseminate Jin or carry for Jin but if it's a male then obviously I don't need to see anyone and I can just give you the serum."
She was quiet for a while before she reached a hand out, face torn between her thoughts, "Can I take it with me now so I don't have to come back out from Menagerie should the third be a male and we decide that route?"
He seemed a bit unsure without Jin in the room as well but rubbed his head, "Well sure but you have to keep it cold until use or it won't be useful. You also need to use it within the next month or so or it will go bad. If you use it, conception should happen within half an hour to an hour of drinking it or it won't work."
Spadix just nodded, impatiently responding, "That's all fine, can you please just make it?"
He nodded. After about twenty minutes a nurse returned, giving it to her in a small container with its own temporary cooling that could get them home. It was all fit in Spadix's pocket however by now shock was starting to wear away and Spadix was shaking, able to feel the intense ache in her chest as she took it and pocketed it, paying on her way out. When she got outside, she was hardly able to stand, stumbling into Jin and gripping hold of her as sobs raged from her, Jin holding her closely and trying her best not to break as well.
Spadix had gotten so excited for this, they both had, that the information was overwhelming and Jin lowered Spadix into her lap as she sank to sit down on the curb, her own tears falling quietly as she held the owl shaking and sobbing close to her. This day had started so amazing and now here they were, wrapped in such devastating information neither even had words.
