Ash and Pikachu were strolling through a dense forest, the sunlight filtering through the thick canopy above. After their recent icy adventure, the warmer climate was a welcome relief. Pikachu happily trotted beside Ash, its tail wagging as it hummed a tune.
"Finally, a calm place to catch our breath," Ash said, stretching his arms. "No crazy battles, no freezing weather. Just peace and—"
A sharp whistling sound cut through the air. Ash's instincts kicked in as he ducked, narrowly avoiding a small dagger that embedded itself into a nearby tree.
"What the—?!" Ash exclaimed, spinning around.
Pikachu's fur bristled as it let out a warning growl, sparks dancing on its cheeks. "Pikaaaa!"
From the shadows, a lithe figure emerged, draped in a sleek, ninja-like outfit. The individual's face was mostly obscured by a mask, leaving only sharp, piercing eyes visible. They moved with a grace that was almost unnatural, each step silent as the grave.
"Who are you?" Ash demanded, his fists clenching.
The figure didn't answer. Instead, they raised their hand, revealing another dagger, and hurled it straight at Ash.
"Pikachu, Thunderbolt!" Ash shouted.
Pikachu unleashed a bolt of electricity, intercepting the dagger midair and deflecting it. The mysterious figure, unfazed, leapt high into the air, landing with a flourish several feet away.
"Why are you attacking us?!" Ash called out, frustration in his voice.
The masked individual—Sheik—remained silent, their stance low and ready. Without warning, Sheik dashed forward, a blur of motion, and struck with a spinning kick aimed at Pikachu.
"Pikachu, dodge and use Quick Attack!" Ash commanded.
Pikachu darted away, narrowly avoiding the strike, and countered with a swift tackle. Sheik flipped effortlessly out of the way, landing gracefully on their feet.
"This is ridiculous!" Ash muttered. "If you won't explain yourself, we're not just going to stand here and take this!"
Sheik tilted their head slightly, as if assessing the duo, before lunging forward again, this time with a series of rapid strikes. Pikachu struggled to keep up with the relentless assault, and Ash could feel the pressure mounting.
Just as Sheik prepared another attack, a sudden whistle pierced the air. From the treetops, BOTW Link descended, his glider folding as he landed between Ash and Sheik, drawing his sword in a single fluid motion.
"It's you!" Ash exclaimed, recognizing Link.
Link didn't respond verbally but gave Ash a quick nod before turning his full attention to Sheik. The two exchanged a brief, tense stare, as if communicating through unspoken words.
Sheik lunged at Link with incredible speed, their blade clashing against Link's shield. Link countered with a spinning slash, forcing Sheik to backflip away. The battle between the two warriors was a dazzling display of agility and skill, each move executed with precision.
Ash watched in awe, clutching Pikachu protectively. "This is insane. They're on a whole other level."
Pikachu nodded, its eyes wide as it followed the rapid movements of the fight.
After a series of exchanges, Link managed to disarm Sheik with a well-placed parry. Sheik stumbled but quickly recovered, leaping back into the shadows. A moment later, they were gone, leaving no trace behind.
Link lowered his sword and turned to Ash, his expression calm but serious.
"Thanks for the save," Ash said, rubbing the back of his head. "That was Sheik, right? Any idea why they attacked us?"
Link shook his head, then gestured for Ash and Pikachu to follow him. It was clear he didn't have answers either.
As Ash, Pikachu, and Link ventured deeper into the forest, a pair of sharp eyes observed their every move from a hidden perch in the treetops. Sheik crouched silently, their posture relaxed but ready. The mysterious ninja watched Ash's carefree interaction with Pikachu and Link's stoic demeanor.
"Hmph," Sheik murmured softly. "He's braver than he looks."
When the group disappeared into the thick foliage, Sheik leapt down gracefully, landing without a sound. After a quick scan of the surroundings to ensure no one was nearby, Sheik stood upright, their posture shifting dramatically. They brought their hands together, a soft glow emanating from them.
In a flash of light, Sheik's appearance dissolved, replaced by a striking figure in a flowing royal gown. The ninja's mask and armor were gone, revealing Princess Zelda in her regal glory. Her blonde hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her serene yet thoughtful face was framed by a delicate tiara.
"So, that's Ash Ketchum," Zelda said softly, her tone contemplative. "The one Mario spoke of. He has a certain... charm, I suppose."
She glanced in the direction Ash and the others had gone, her eyes narrowing slightly.
"But is he ready for what lies ahead? Time will tell."
