Ash and Pikachu walked along a strange, sterile-looking corridor that felt oddly out of place compared to the fantastical landscapes they had visited earlier. The bright lights and white walls resembled a high-tech laboratory, and Ash scratched his head in confusion.
"What is this place?" Ash muttered, glancing at Pikachu. "Doesn't feel like it belongs in the same world as Bowser's castle or that icy mountain we were just on."
"Pika… chu?" Pikachu agreed, its ears twitching warily.
As they rounded a corner, they suddenly came face-to-face with someone who looked exactly like Mario—except he was wearing a white lab coat, a stethoscope around his neck, and a small reflective headband resting above his iconic red hat.
"Mario?!" Ash exclaimed, his eyes wide.
The man smiled warmly but shook his head. "Ah, no, I am-a Doctor Mario! Not the same as regular Mario, though we do share some-a similarities, yes?"
Ash blinked, utterly baffled. "Wait, you're telling me there's another version of Mario? And he's a doctor? How does that even work?!"
Doctor Mario chuckled, adjusting his gloves. "I-a specialize in curing illnesses and fighting off viruses. Sometimes you gotta-a trade the plumber's wrench for a prescription pad!"
Ash exchanged a skeptical look with Pikachu, who tilted its head in equal confusion.
"But… how is that even possible?" Ash pressed, folding his arms. "Are you like a parallel version of Mario or something?"
Doctor Mario tapped his chin thoughtfully. "You could-a say that. In this world, anything is-a possible. One minute, I'm-a tossing pills at viruses, and the next, I'm-a duking it out in a grand Smash Bros. battle. It's-a very versatile lifestyle!"
Ash groaned, his head spinning. "This world just keeps getting weirder and weirder. First, I meet a talking fox, then a Pikachu that wants to fight my Pikachu, and now there's a doctor version of Mario!"
Doctor Mario laughed heartily. "Weird is-a just another word for exciting, eh? Speaking of which, you look like you've had some bumps and bruises along your journey. Maybe I can-a help!"
Before Ash could respond, Doctor Mario whipped out a large, brightly colored capsule pill and held it up with a flourish. "This'll fix you right up!"
Ash stepped back nervously. "Uh, thanks, but I think we're good. Right, Pikachu?"
"Pika pika!" Pikachu nodded fervently, not eager to be a test subject for any mystery medication.
Doctor Mario shrugged, tucking the capsule back into his coat pocket. "Suit yourself. But if you ever need a check-up, don't hesitate to-a call on me!"
As he turned to leave, Doctor Mario paused and gave Ash a friendly wave. "Oh, and if-a you see my plumber counterpart, tell him to stop eating so much-a spaghetti. It's not good for the cholesterol!"
Ash chuckled despite himself. "Yeah, I'll… keep that in mind."
As Doctor Mario walked off down the corridor, Ash looked at Pikachu, shaking his head in disbelief.
"This place is nuts," Ash said with a grin. "But you know what? I think I'm starting to like it."
