So I decided to try writing it like this to see if it would be easier for others to read. Is it? Let me know. To any of you who were hoping Jack and Sally would go from enemies to lovers, I'm sorry, but I really can't see them as enemies.
Jack. Sally and Jack were pulled through a whirlwind that was behind the door; it was so strong that Jack was pulled away from Sally. When they were finally out, they landed in what appeared to be mysterious soft white powder.
What is this?" Jack asked out loud ever so curious. Sally thought for a moment.
"I think it's called snow," she answered. "Snow," Jack thought; thinking of the strange word, he leaned in to get a better look at the place, then he found himself sliding down the hill they had landed on. He could hear Sally running after him. He fell into a pile of snow, popped out and stared at the mysterious place.
"Jack, are you alright?" Sally asked.
"I'm more than alright," Jack answered, astonished by the place. He began wandering around. The houses were covered with bright colorful lights, the roofs topped with snow; there were trees inside the houses also covered with colorful lights and decorations. He asked aloud," What's this? And this?" Continuing to wander through the snow-covered streets, it was so beautiful, but something was off. No one in the town was active; they were all dozing in the most random places. On the ground, leaned against things, and on the floors of their houses, all of them with sand scattered around them, Jack found a sign that read Christmas Town. Then Sally caught up to him. "Sally, everyone here is asleep," Jack said,"could the Sandman have been here?
Sally nodded,"Yes, he's got to have been here, we should move on to the next town, and see if he's there." So they headed back through the snow to the seven trees, opened the heart-shaped door and jumped through it.
(LOL, he was still excited when seeing Christmas Town!)
Once again they landed in a place that Jack found wholly unfamiliar and strange, he breathed in the gentle sweet air; this place seemed like it was going to be just as surprising as the last place. He and Sally headed out of the forest, Sally looking just as surprised as Jack when they saw pink poppies and blood red roses that lined the path that they were following. But this time Jack knew he shouldn't be stopping so much to admire this place. They entered a town by passing through an iron forged gate with the words: Valentine's Town. And on the cobblestone sidewalk they saw a cluster of what seemed to be small winged babies sleeping soundly on the ground, and they were all surrounded by the same pale sand that the people of the last town had been covered in. In this town there was lots of chocolate, candy, and flowers. Well, you didn't see flowers or candy like this in Halloween Town. The people here were also sleeping in odd places: Dozing next to mugs of hot chocolate, in each other's arms, in boats, and lots of other places. Jack started to wonder if he was the only one who was not from Dream Town who was still awake anywhere. So could this mean that Oogie Boogie was asleep? Could there only be one villain they had to stop?
"Sally," he said,"we should move on to the next place.
Sally nodded,"lets go."
So they headed back to the forest; this time they opened the door shaped like an egg and tumbled through it. They landed in a green spring-like forest with a pale blue sky with a few fluffy clouds. But to Jack the grass felt all wrong, woven and papery, and it crunched beneath his and Sally's shoes as they walked out of the forest, where they found out that this place was filled with countless colorful eggs hidden everywhere, sitting in oak trees, behind tulips, and in the grass as if it is expected for someone to pick them up and keep them like prizes or souvenirs. But Jack couldn't understand why someone would want to keep such things, if these eggs were discovered in Halloween Town there would surely be some kind of cruel prank waiting inside them. There was so much about these new places that Jack didn't understand. The gate here had flowers woven into it and read: Easter Town. In this place there were no houses, shops, or a fountain, just a huge meadow of wild flowers, full of rabbit holes. There was a small gazebo that inside seemed to be where the eggs were painted. There were about a dozen rabbits as well, and like everyone else they were asleep, and among them who seemed to have been trying to defend the others was a rabbit larger than the others. It had pink marshmallow pink fur and was wearing a sash that read: Happy Easter. They were asleep, just like everyone else. Was there anyone else who didn't live in Dream Town beside Jack who was still awake?
"Do you think there is anyone in the other towns who is still awake?" Sally asked.
"I don't know," he answered,"but we can't give up." "You're right," she replied,"but it's getting dark, maybe we should get some rest first." Jack agreed and they did their best to make themselves comfortable.
Sally," said Jack," do you thinkā¦" Suddenly he was interrupted by another voice."
"Sally, there you are!"
Jack turned around to see another rag doll, a man, with short black hair, yellow pajamas the color of the moon, and a seam across his chin.
"Sally, I've been looking all over for you," he said.
"Edward, why are you here?" she asked him," shouldn't you be in the Human World?"
"Forget that," he said,"I'm going to help you stop the Sandman, and why is he with you?"
"This is Jack Skellington," Sally answered,"the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town; we're working together to stop the Sandman and some other monster he is after."
Edward didn't seem to notice Zero.
"It is useless to expect help stopping the Sandman from someone who is not from Dream Town," he argued and took Sally's hand in his,"come with me, and together we will stop the Sandman, and after that, I'll make you my woman."
"Edward," said Sally,"I'm perfectly fine with traveling with Jack, and I don't think I want to be your woman, and you can join us and help search for the Sandman if you want."
He shook his head," I don't want to work with that skeleton." Then he looked at Jack," just don't forget, I'm not giving up. Eventually Sally will realize she's better off with me," then he walked off.
Jack had this strange feeling when he saw Edward holding Sally's hand; he thought about it as he drifted off to sleep. In his dream he saw that same figure from before, she was more clear this time though, she began to walk towards him, her hand outstretched, being more clear she looked even more like Sally. Jack slowly held out his returning her gesture, and she looked into his eyes. But then Jack woke up."Who are you?" he asked aloud.
"What did you say, Jack?" Sally asked.
Nothing," Jack answered quickly.
Sally. Sally had that dream again last night; the figure had looked more like Jack and had his hand outstretched towards her this time. Back when she was sixteen she had seen Edward, the rag doll they encountered yesterday for the first time in years; he had said he liked her, but she hadn't paid much attention. When he heard that she would soon be the governor, he had told he would do anything to help her. Now he didn't want her to be around Jack.
Sally, who was that guy from last night?" Asked Jack.
"Oh, that was Edward," said Sally," he's someone from Dream Town. I've known him for a long time. Come on, let's head to the next town.
They headed back to the forest and chose the door shaped like a fat bird, so they pulled it open, and jumped through. It was like fall with just a hint of winter with very little brown leaves on the trees. Jack and Sally followed a path out of the forest to a sign that read: Thanksgiving Town. Inside was a small town with log cabins. There were crops, corn stalks, and pumpkins. Leaves littered the ground, and there was a hint of snow. There was smoke coming out of the chimneys of the houses. Perhaps there was someone in this town who was still awake, if that was true maybe they could catch the Sandman here. But they didn't hear any voices, no footsteps. And eventually they found that everyone here was asleep too, most of them sleeping at the table, like they had just sat down for dinner, once again there was sand around them; the only creatures that were awake were some fat birds that looked exactly like the door. Suddenly Sally spotted something in the distance.
"Jack, what's that?" She asked, but before he could answer, the thing came up; it was a giant walking sack, it had eyes, a mouth, and limbs.
"Oogie Boogie," Jack exclaimed.
"That's Oogie Boogie?" Sally asked.
Jack nodded.
"Well, well well, what have we here?" Oogie Boogie asked.
"This time I've got an ally with me Oogie," Jack informed him.
"Well you're still no match for me," said Oogie. He grabbed Sally by the collar of her robe, but she broke his hold by pushing away hard.
"Leave her alone," Jack ordered.
Sally punched Oogie in the face, and he coughed up a bug. "Ugh, I'll be back," he stormed off yelling, "I haven't given up on my plans, I just want to get away from you!"
"You did good," Jack told Sally.
She blushed lightly. Without warning Jack took Sally's hand in his, looked deep into her eyes and said,"I won't let anything happen to you Sally."
Sally blushed even deeper. Then she pulled away and said,"come on, we have to keep searching.
Jack nodded, and they headed back into the forest and chose the door shaped like a green clover and were pulled through it.
Jack and Sally found themselves in a smaller forest; the trees were smaller than they had been in the other places. And unlike the other realms there were lots of paths, no way to know which was the right one. They tried one path, but it only led them back to where they came from. They tried another and it happened again.
"In Halloween Town," said Jack,"it's said that if you ever lose your way, you should follow your shadow."
"Well it's worth a try," said Sally.
So they followed their shadow which miraculously led them out of the forest through the tall grass to a golden gate with a sign that read: Saint Patrick Town. There were rain clouds in the distance so it probably rained often in this place. The houses were made of twigs and strangely the doorways were only half Jack and Sally's size so they crouched down to peer through the windows but everyone like the other towns were asleep, small red-bearded men, red haired woman with rosy cheeks and even curly haired babies resting in woolly moss made cribs. At the center of the town was a small fountain that poured out green water. But then, suddenly, there was a flash of green! They followed it for while it seemed to be a small man he must have been too fast for the Sandman to catch him but eventually he was out of sight. So Jack and Sally once again went back into the forest, there was only one door left that they hadn't tried: The door with the firework. They opened it and Sally hoped that they would find the Sandman behind it.
In that last place, the trees were decorated with red white and blue streamers; some trees had cherries growing on them. Jack and Sally headed out of the forest. The sign had the gate in front of the town read: Fourth of July Town. In this place the sun was setting and there were a couple of bright exploding lights. The houses and buildings were dome shaped and the roofs were completely made of glass; some of them had shades over their roofs. The town was hotter than the other towns, and there was a red fountain that poured out deep blue water. Despite the loud noises everyone here was asleep. And next to the largest building were two elegantly dressed people; their clothes were a shiny red, white and blue, and they had highlights in their hair that matched their clothes.
Jack frowned, "that was the last town, what are we going to do?"
Sally thought for a minute," I have an idea, come with me to Dream Town. If I can find certain books, then maybe we can see if there are other towns we don't know about yet."
Introducing Edward is going to set up a love triangle in this story. I thought maybe I could spice things up a little. Anyone who can guess correctly about who it is that I based the way Edward acts around Sally on, is so going to have their work checked out and commented by me. Here's a hint, it's a character in an anime. I'm sorry if anyone felt like the way I had Sally fight is unrealistic to her character.
Disclaimer: Most of the details of the other towns are from the mind of Shea Ernshaw, but I did come up with some of them and I did not come up with everything the characters said in this story. I don't own the characters of this story.
