Epilogue
Kalee
Qymaen jai Sheelal was having a very bad day. His scouting mission near the Jenawaa Sea coast lands had encountered a Huk ambush that devastated his war party. Of the ten warriors, the only survivors were him, his second-in-command and wife Ronderu lij Kummar, and two of his Izvoshra, Khamul ru Khaar and Bentilais san Sk'ar. Ronderu was gravely injured in the fight, having taken a Huk forearm slice to the side and nearly losing her left arm in the process.
Before she could fall in the water, Qymaen and the rest of his party managed to grab her and fought their way to safety. Now Qymaen jai Sheelal sat outside the healer's hut with Khamul and Bentilais resting from the attack. All three seemed to be stewing in their thoughts, the anger at the Huks they all held now far greater than before. The silent debate on what to do next was only interrupted by the flap of the hut opening and the healer stepping out.
"How is she?" the warlord asked.
"It was close but she'll live," the healer answered, "I wasn't able to save the arm though. The egg she's developing was also saved as well."
This caught Qymaen off guard.
"You mean she's…"
The healer nods, confirming what the warlord was going to say.
"Can I see her?"
"You can but she's asleep."
The warlord did just that. There he found the love of his life was resting on the bed. The stump that was the remnant of her left arm, wrapped in a cloth bandage. Her mask was laying next to her on the floor, making her face appear pale. Ronderu opened her eyes when Qymaen closes the tent flap.
"Hey," she said weakly.
"I didn't wake you, did I?" the warlord asked in a worried tone.
Ronderu lij Kummar shook her head before she answered.
"I'm glad I'm not dying anymore."
"You and me both. Especially after what the healer told me."
"What did he tell you?"
"You are developing an egg," he answered, "We're going to have a child."
This was a surprise to Ronderu, as well as a look of an epiphany dawning on her face.
"I guess that explained some things," the warlady admitted, "Might explain the cranky mood I've been in for a week."
"I figured you were just exhausted," Qymaen stated, "Something I had been having at the same time."
"What do we do now?"
"It's quite obvious we need an army to beat the Huks," her husband explained, "And now with our child on the way, we have the future to think about."
The Kaleesh warlord turned to exit the healer's hut.
"Rest for now my love," he told her, "I will make preparations for this army."
After leaving his wife to rest he found his two living bodyguards sitting around the village's central fire place, nursing any wounds and cleaning their weapons. Both stood at attention when their Khan appeared.
"At ease," the warlord told them, "We have much work to do. We have an army to build."
"And how will we do that?" Khamul asked.
"By splitting up and recruiting more tribes to our cause," Qymaen jai Sheelal stated, "You two will travel to Ausez Steppes. Spread the word to the pilgrims to Shrupak and rest of the temples that warriors are needed. Send them here."
"What will you be doing in the meantime?" Bentilais asked.
"I will be with my wife as she recovers from her injuries and when our child is born," the warlord answered, "I'll also be making preparations to supply this army and our next target."
The Kaleesh turned turned to his followers.
"We will end threat to our people once and for all."
With that, Rise of the Manda'lor comes to an end. I hope you all had as good a time reading this story as I did writing it. With this epilogue, I hope to set up my next big Star Wars story. Probably not my next story, there's a few one shots I want to do before that, (I have an idea for a My Hero Academia rewrite that changes some things about the disappointing series end).
Until next time, Xim the Despot out.
