My series for this story is abandoned. I can no longer write like I used to, and rather than take 20 years to finish the story, I have decided to end it all with this one shot. IF anyone wants to fill in the gaps of my series with the ending of this one shot, they can. Just make sure to give me credit where it is due.
With that being said, I hope you enjoy the conclusion to this series.
In Harry Potter's fifth year at Hogwarts, he dies and ends up traveling back in time along with Hermione Granger after a time turner is broken with the killing curse. The two quickly begin to change the past with the aid of Headmaster Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, and Sirius Black, along with the allies he makes along the way of his journey. Making use of the Ministry of Magic, many wrongs are righted and many Death Eaters are brought to justice, however the speed at which the changes were made forces time to fight back, starting the wizarding war much earlier than anticipated.
Harry eventually defeats Voldemort in single combat during his fourth year after travelling back in time, at the climax of the Triwizard Tournament. Soon after, the remaining Death Eaters are defeated and captured, bringing peace to the wizarding world. Decades pass with Harry becoming an Auror and Hermione becoming Minister for Magic, as well as getting married and starting a family. Everything seemed to be going well until the day of Harry's death, three years after the death of his wife Hermione. As he drew his last breath, the world around him spun and vanished, and he woke up on the floor of the Ministry with Neville Longbottom crouched over him, crying. Groaning, Harry opened his eyes and stood, causing Neville to leap back in surprise.
"H-Harry! You- But- I saw you die!"
"What? This is… when I first time travelled?"
"Huh? What do you-"
Harry quickly looked around, hoping Hermione had come back with him. However, Hermione was nowhere to be found.
"Neville, where is Hermione? Wasn't she with us until now?"
Neville looked at Harry like he'd grown a second head.
"Who is Hermione? We got separated from Ron, Ginny, and Luna. It's just us here, mate."
"No! This can't be happening. This isn't… I can't… Not without her, please!"
Harry checked around his neck and found that he as still wearing the broken time turner. He sadly took it off and placed it in his pocket. He then looked around the room and found the two Death Eaters who started this mess. Rabastan was still writhing on the floor.
Harry quickly bound both of them in ropes and snapped their wands, and quickly began to head to the next room in search of the others. The look on his face was fierce, without mercy, and terrifying even to Neville.
"Harry, what's going on? You're not acting like yourself…"
Harry sighed as Neville followed behind him.
"That's because I might as well be a different person, Nev. Without Hermione, I…"
He trailed off and never finished his sentence. Neville was confused but understood that Harry wanted to be left alone for the moment, and quietly followed along as Harry led them to another room just as they heard a commotion. Just then, two Death Eaters barged in and pointed their wands at Harry and Neville. Before they could get a spell off, Harry silently waved his wand and both wands of his would be attackers flew from their hands and off to the side. NExt, he quickly stunned them both with the help of Neville who was surprised that Harry was casting silently all of a sudden. Harry bound them in ropes and snapped their wands like the others.
As Harry and Neville entered the next room, they say Ron, Ginny, and Luna facing off against two more Death Eaters. Ron got hit with something and Harry became even more enraged, raising his wand and with a thrust Harry went flying through the air at the two Death Eaters, stunning one in their surprise and kicking the other on the nose. Harry quickly stunned the one he kicked, bound them in ropes, and snapped their wands. He turned to Ron, who was unsteady on his feet but wobbling toward him.
"That was so cool, Harry! Just like the stories my told me of Superman!"
Harry could tell Ron was out of sorts by the tone of his voice and the unsteadiness, and knew right away what he'd been hit with. It seemed to be a supercharged confusion hex that was a speciality of Norman Avery, one of the Death Eaters that knew Tom Riddle when he was young. With a wave of his wand, Harry cast the countercurse for the spell and Ron's unsteadiness suddenly stopped.
"Bloody hell, thanks mate."
"No problem. Let's get moving."
Ginny stepped up and gave Harry a worried look.
"You okay, Harry? Something doesn't seem right…"
Harry sighed.
"No, I'm not. And these Death Eaters are going to answer for it. But for now, we need to get out of here. It's not safe for the rest of you."
"The rest of us? And what about you, Harry?", said Ron. "I've never seen you fight like you just did in the DA."
Harry gave a merciless smile in response.
"I'm not the same as I was earlier today. Let's just say that not even Voldemort can stop me from getting my revenge right now."
"Bloody hell, if you say so…"
"Anyway, let's move. We should be able to find the exit here soon."
As soon as they opened the door to the next room, two Death Eaters led by the unmasked Bellatrix Lestrange entered on the other side of the room. Clicking his tongue, Harry raised a hand to stop the others and stepped forward with his wand aimed at Bellatrix.
"There he is! We've got him in- Wait, where's the prophecy!? Potter, where is it!?"
Harry laughed and kept stepping forward, hoping to provoke an attack from the Death Eaters.
"That old thing? It was destroyed a few minutes ago by Rabastan and Crabbe Sr. What a pity."
"What!? No! The Dark Lord-"
"Voldemort is the least of your worries, now. You've all made me angry, and I won't let a single one of you get away!"
"How dare you say-"
Harry interrupted them with a combination of spells, going from Stupefy to Expelliarmus to Bombarda, keeping the Death Eaters on the defensive as he started sprinting across the room towards them. Bellatrix and the others fended off his attack well enough, and they exchanged spells twice more before Harry was right up on them. They'd even gone as far as casting the killing curse at him, but he'd conjured stone to block the spells as easily as breathing, and exploded and banished the rubble right back at them, forcing them to leap out of the way.
Harry, once close enough, used a wandless summoning charm with his left hand while sending a Stupefy at Bellatrix, forcing her to block the spell instead of dodge it, which resulted in Harry getting right in her face and jabbing his wand into her stomach. She was sent flying into the wall behind her and dropped her wand when she hit her head, falling unconscious. He then stunned both the other Death Eaters to his left and right as they were rooted to the floor in surprise at how easily he handled the fearsome Bellatrix Lestrange. As with the others, he bound them in ropes and snapped their wands.
Finally, Harry's friends caught up with him.
"Bloody hell Harry, nice work. You really meant it, they can't stop you…"
Harry, despite besting Bellatrix and the others, was still angry as all hell. He simply nodded to Ron and the others and opened the door beside them, and upon entering they all seemed to fall down a set of stairs, leading to the center of the room where there was a strange archway. Coming in from another door off to the side of the room, was Lucius Malfoy and two more Death Eaters, the last of the ones they'd seen ambush them.
"Potter! Give us the- WHERE IS IT? Potter, what have you done with the prophecy!?"
Harry hardly reacted save to magically leap halfway across the room, leaving his friends behind in surprise.
"It's broken, Malfoy. Voldemort will never know what it says, thanks to Rabastan and Crabbe Sr."
"Those idiots! The Dark Lord will punish us all for their folly."
"Yeah, if he ever gets his hands on you. I'll be making sure you're all put away or dead, before he gets the chance. So maybe you should worry more about me than him."
"You could never oppose us, Potter. You may have ran from the others, but they'll be here soon and you'll have no escape this time!"
"The others? Nott, Bellatrix, Rodolphus, Crabbe, Rabastan, Macnair, Avery, Jugson, Dolohov… You mean them? I left them behind after kicking their arses single handedly. They won't be coming to help you, Malfoy. It's just you, Rookwood, and Mulciber left now."
Harry smiled dangerously and raised his wand.
"Potter! You dare-"
Just then, from around the room, the Order of the Phoenix arrived. Sirius, Lupin, Moody, Tonks, and Kingsley all entered the room just in time to see Harry fly halfway across the room at Lucius and the other Death Eaters. He quickly dispatched them before he even hit the ground, throwing stunning spells at them with his wand and then transfiguring the floor under their feet to pull them down, sending their spells on unintended paths, away from Harry. Harry disarmed Rookwood and Mulciber, and before Lucius could get off another spell, he kicked his wand out of his hand with a spinning kick through the air, and then punched him at the same time as he cast another stunning spell wandlessly through his fist. He quickly stunned, bound, and snapped the wands of all three just like the rest.
Sirius was the first to reach Harry, followed by the other Order members.
"Bloody hell Harry, who taught you that!?"
Harry looked behind him at Sirius and just shrugged, not answering the question.
"It's all over, but thanks for coming to help. Sorry to drag you all here. The other Death Eaters are scattered about in various rooms, so you'll want to have them all gathered up and given to the aurors. I'm going to take my friends back to Hogwarts."
"Okay. Good work Harry, I never expected you to be such a badass."
As he turned around, he felt the broken time turner shift in his pocket. He turned back around.
"Also, tell Dumbledore I need to speak with him as soon as possible. Tell him… Tell him I heard the prophecy."
"Bugger… Alright, Harry, I'll tell him. You lot be careful on your way back to school."
"We will. Goodbye, Sirius."
They all went their separate ways, Sirius leading the Order through the rooms to find the Death Eaters and Harry leading his friends back to the Atrium. Once they finally reached it however, Harry's scar began to burn. Anger surged through him once again, and he gripped his wand tightly.
"Everyone, stay close to me. Voldemort is here."
"Volde-"
Before his friends could even react, Voldemort descended in a smoky form as if he was floating down from the ceiling, where he was lying in wait to ambush Harry.
"Yes, Harry, I am here. I hear the prophecy has been destroyed. I no longer require anything from you, Potter. You have irked me too often, for too long. AVADA KEDAVRA!"
Harry conjured stone to block the killing curse, and banished the fragmented pieces back at Voldemort who simply brushed them aside.
"I see you have improved since our last duel, but no matter. You are nothing before the great Lord Voldemort."
But before the situation could go any further, Dumbledore arrived, stepping through one of the Atrium floss ready for battle. Without a word he began to animate various statues, though Harry interrupted him and caused the statues to pause.
"Dumbledore, you're late. I'll handle Tom, please protect the others."
"Tom is too much for you my boy, he is a master of the Dark Arts-"
"Tom is NOTHING compared to me. I've lived longer than he has and acquired much more knowledge in order to prevent the rise of another Dark Lord after he has gone."
Dumbledore was speechless, but could feel that Harry spoke the truth. Clearly something beyond his knowledge had happened here, that had caused this change in Harry.
"Very well. I will protect them. But if you need help I-"
"I don't. Now, Voldemort, let us continue."
Voldemort had paused at Dumbldore's arrival and allowed the interaction to take place, but sneered at Harry after he said he could handle him. Voldemort could tell something was different about Harry, but was too arrogant to entertain the idea that Harry could even match his power.
"You are a greater fool than I thought, Potter."
Voldemort summoned a mass of fire that could only be Fiendfyre, taking the shape of a basilisk and striking out at Harry. Harry waved his wand and left hand in front of him and the very walls and floor and ceiling of the Ministry came apart at his command, wrapping around the Fiendfyre and smothering it nearly as quickly as it had been conjured. Voldemort clicked his tongue in annoyance and blasted the mass of debris apart, sending it flying at Harry. Harry simply flicked his hand up and he rose high towards the Atrium ceiling, leaving Dumbledore to protect the children.
Harry aimed his wand and a bolt of lightning shot out toward Voldemort, who seemed to catch the lightning on the tip of his wand and redirect it back at Harry, but Harry was already gone. He apparated behind Voldemort while he was busy with the bolt, and swept his legs out from under him. Voldemort gasped and his legs turned to smoke, carrying him away from Harry who seemed to cast a similar spell to fly at Voldemort, grappling with him in a twisted mass od black and white smoke. They broke apart as Harry's fist slammed into Voldemort's face, and they faced off from a few meters away.
"Crucio!"
Harry dove aside to dodge the curse and lashed out with his left hand, sending a spike of debris from the floor up at Voldemort, who practically vaporized it. At the same time Harry flew up into the air in a trail of white smoke, and cast Expelliarmus at Voldemort, who simply batted aside the charm with his hand. Harry flew towards Voldemort who flew backwards to create some distance, effectively staying a few meters apart. Harry tried to apparate again, but felt he couldn't. The only explanation was that Dumbledore had cast an anti-apparition ward to keep Voldemort from fleeing, which, while annoying, showed the trust Dumbledore now placed in Harry after watching the battle unfold.
At the same time, both duelists cast spells, Voldemort's being the killing curse, and Harry's being the disarming charm. Their spells met and soon Priori Incantatem began to take form, but Voldemort broke off the spell quickly and dove aside from Harry's spell as it hurdled towards him. However, the spell he expected never came. Harry predicted Voldemort would break off the connection and did the same thing at the same time, giving Harry the initiative. Harry wandlessly cast a stunning spell at the vulnerable Voldemort, only for him to wandlessly bat it away, and they were back at square one.
"I underestimated you, Potter-"
"Shut up, Tom. I'm only just getting started."
Voldemort sneered at Harry once more and sent off another killing curse his way, just for it to be blocked like all the rest. Harry banished the conjured rock towards Voldemort, and simultaneously used a wandless summoning charm and flew at him from behind the stone, finally taking him off guard and landing a punch square on his flat nose after he swatted the stone aside to find Harry right in his face. Voldemort yelled out in pain and tried to banish Harry but failed as Harry flew around to his side and punched him in the spleen, causing another cry of pain that was quickly silenced. Harry then kicked Voldemort in the center of his spine, while wandlessly casting a spell that suddenly forced all of his soul shards to reattach to is body, sending him falling to the ground where Voldemort caught himself before he hit the ground with his hands, still clutching his wand, and unable to react as he could feel his soul become whole once more.
Voldemort attempted to retaliate by sending a killing curse behind him without looking, but his shot missed as Harry had flown above him and cast a stunning spell straight at him with both his left hand and wand. One was quickly blocked as Voldemort turned to face him, but the other landed and Voldemort fell limply to the ground. Harry kicked him in the face in anger as he landed and cast the first and likely only killing curse he would ever cast, swiftly ending the threat of Voldemort. Just before he finished off Voldemort however, the fireplaces roared to life and the Atrium was flooded with aurors and Ministry employees. The Minister himself witnessed Harry kill Voldemort however, and quickly freaked out.
"Arrest him! He just cast the-"
Fudge finally got a good look at the face of who was just killed, and seeing Voldemort, he was struck silent for a moment.
"It's… him. Bloody hell, that's He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named!"
As aurors began to surround Harry, Fudge finally saw sense and called them off.
"Aurors, stop! Do not… Do not arrest him. This boy has just… Harry Potter has just saved the Ministry from that maniac. I can't believe… he was really back…"
With a sigh, Harry finally began to relax, still furious about losing Hermione, and turned to face Dumbledore and the others who had slowly begun to approach him. His friends were stunned silent after watching him single handedly take down Voldemort, just like he said he would. Dumbledore however smiled and lowered his wand, though he didn't completely lower his guard.
"Good work, Harry, although I can't say I'm glad to see you cast that spell. You've changed quite a bit since last time I saw you, which I'm sure can be explained by some extraordinary event that occurred in the Department of Mysteries."
"Yeah, time travel is a bugger. I'm technically older than you now, sir."
Dumbledore just laughed as that statement left the others in confusion.
"I see. Well, I am glad to say that this war is finally over, thanks to you. Not even I could have defeated Voldemort, likely even in my prime."
Harry just shrugged and turned to Fudge.
"Sorry for the mess, Minister. I kind of pulled down the walls around us."
"It's- It's no trouble, Mr. Potter. For now, let us adjourn to my office to discuss what has happened. Dumblesore, if you'd be so kind as to join us…"
"Of course, Minister. You'll want to talk to these kids as well."
"Bring them too, then. Merlin's beard, what a catastrophe…"
And just like that, the battle was over. Harry and the others explained almost everything, only leaving out the journey of his time travel, and soon everything was solved neatly with an Order of Merlin First Class for Harry and Second Class for his friends. After everything was handled, Dumbledore was reinstated as Headmaster. Meanwhile, in the Department of Mysteries, Unspeakables worked on a broken time turner presented to them by Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore, having been asked to see if they could bring a person back from their erasure from the timeline. Not long after school resumed, Harry was greeted with the good news of Hermione being brought back to their world, and she took her place as his girlfriend and soon to be wife once again. And with that, the school year, and the threat of Voldemort and his Death Eaters came to an end.
But that only led to Harry and Hermione's second try at changing the world for the better, which was sure to go much better with their previous experiences. They would eventually leave the world a much better place than the one they were born into, with Harry being hailed as the second coming of Merlin, overtaking Dumbledore, while Hermione became the most accomplished Minister for Magic in history.
For the world, with Harry and Hermione's efforts, all was well.
