Naruto x 5 Sisters – The Bodyguard Mission*
Part 3: The Unseen Hero*
The moon hung high in the sky, casting silver beams across the sprawling Takahashi estate's garden. It was supposed to be a peaceful night, but a dark cloud of danger loomed as Naruto found himself darting through the garden, dodging kunai and engaging in a fierce exchange of blows with a group of masked intruders. Each movement was a dance of instinct and agility, an instinct honed by years of training as a shinobi.
"Who sent you?!" Naruto shouted, parrying a blade aimed directly at his chest. Adrenaline coursed through his veins; his heart pounded like a war drum, insisting on movement, on action.
The attackers remained silent, their focus unwavering as they surged toward him, attempting to overwhelm him with sheer numbers.
"Fine! Keep quiet, then!" Naruto growled, frustration rising. He knew he had to take control. Acting swiftly, he formed a hand seal. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
With a puff of smoke and a burst of energy, three identical Narutos appeared, ready to engage in combat. They spread out, each clone dividing the attackers' focus. As his clones held off the bulk of the group, Naruto himself zeroed in on the leader—a larger figure who emanated a menacing aura.
"You're not getting past me!" Naruto yelled, lunging forward with a kunai in hand, determined to protect the sisters above all else.
The leader blocked his strike with surprising speed, but Naruto had anticipated the move. With a swift pivot, he delivered a powerful kick to the leader's chest, sending him stumbling back. The clash of metal and the thud of bodies hitting the ground echoed through the night, but Naruto didn't have time to relish his success. He had to keep the sisters safe.
--
Inside the mansion, the Takahashi sisters had gathered at the windows, their expressions a mix of awe and disbelief as they watched Naruto fight.
"Is Naruto… actually holding his own?" Rika muttered, her surprise evident as she watched him duck and roll, narrowly avoiding another attack.
"Barely," Isabella replied, crossing her arms, her brows knitting together in concern. "He's still outnumbered."
Zara, always the optimist, smirked. "He might pull this off. Maybe."
Mizuki sighed heavily, her heart constricting. "If he doesn't, we'll be the ones in danger." She wrapped her arms around herself, as if bracing against the chill of the impending threat.
Suddenly, the sound of shuriken clashing against Naruto's kunai filled the air like a grim symphony. The sisters gasped collectively as a familiar figure emerged from the shadows—none other than Sasuke Uchiha.
"Sasuke-kun!" they exclaimed in unison, their faces lighting up like the stars above.
--
Back outside, Naruto had just dispatched another adversary when his attention was drawn to Sasuke effortlessly dispatching the final attacker. The intruder crumpled to the ground, unconscious, while Sasuke stood there, calm and collected, as if the fight hadn't even fazed him. It was a sight that grated on Naruto's nerves.
"Sasuke? What are you doing here?" Naruto panted, wiping sweat from his brow.
Before Sasuke could respond, the Takahashi sisters burst through the mansion doors, running past Naruto with an urgency that left him momentarily speechless. They surrounded Sasuke, adoration radiating from their every pore.
"Sasuke-kun, you were amazing!" Rika gushed, her usual composure melting away in excitement. It was as if she had forgotten entirely about the chaos that had just unfolded.
"You saved us!" Mizuki added, her voice laced with relief as she clasped her hands together, eyes sparkling with admiration.
"Are you hurt? Do you need anything?" Isabella chimed in, her fiery demeanor shifting to one of tender concern, clearly prioritizing Sasuke's well-being over the fact that Naruto had taken on multiple attackers.
"Thank you, Sasuke-kun!" Zara said, practically bouncing on her feet, her energy infectious.
Naruto stood there, dumbfounded, feeling as if he had just been cast aside. "Wait a second!" he shouted, waving his arms in agitation. "I was the one who fought most of them off!"
But the sisters didn't even glance his way, too wrapped up in their fawning over Sasuke.
Sasuke, ever the stoic, shrugged off their compliments. "It was nothing," he replied, his voice cool and indifferent.
"Nothing?" Naruto growled under his breath, clenching his fists so tightly his knuckles turned white. "I did all the hard work!"
--
Moments later, the rest of the Konoha 12 arrived in a flurry, led by Sakura and Kakashi, who seemed unfazed by the chaos that had just transpired.
"Yo," Kakashi greeted lazily, his eyes peering beneath his mask. "Looks like we missed the action."
"Naruto, what happened?" Shikamaru asked, glancing at the unconscious attackers with a mix of curiosity and nonchalance.
Naruto, still brimming with frustration, crossed his arms defensively. "A bunch of intruders showed up, and I fought most of them off. Then Sasuke showed up and took out the last guy, and now he's the hero." His tone was laced with bitterness, and he couldn't suppress the sourness building in his chest.
The rest of the group exchanged glances, turning toward Sasuke, who was swarmed by the Takahashi sisters, each vying for his attention with an intensity that made Naruto seethe.
"Typical," Kiba muttered, rolling his eyes in annoyance.
Choji chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. "Guess they didn't see you, huh, Naruto?"
Hinata stood off to the side, her hands clasped tightly in front of her, quietly saying, "You did great, Naruto-kun…" but her voice was too soft for it to reach him, lost in the clamor of admiration for Sasuke.
"I don't care about the credit," Naruto grumbled, though his clenched fists spoke volumes. "As long as they're safe, that's all that matters."
Sakura raised an eyebrow, the hint of a smile playing on her lips. "Well, the attackers didn't get inside, so you must have done something right."
"Yeah, but try telling them that," Naruto muttered darkly, glaring at the sisters still fawning over Sasuke, his insides twisting into knots.
Kakashi, sensing the turmoil bubbling beneath the surface, patted him on the shoulder with a reassuring gesture. "Cheer up, Naruto. Missions like this are about protecting people, not getting recognition."
Naruto sighed, the weight of the evening pressing down on him. "I guess…" But as his gaze traveled back toward Sasuke, who was basking in the glow of the sisters' adoration, a pang of frustration tightened in his chest.
This mission was proving to be more challenging than he could have ever imagined, filled not just with physical battles but with emotional ones, as he grappled with feelings of inadequacy and unrecognized effort. In that moment, he realized that being a hero didn't solely rely on accolades; it was about the choices he made and the promises he kept.
But deep down, he couldn't shake the irritation that clawed at him, a sense of resentment that he would have to work through if he wanted to emerge stronger from this daunting experience.
