Shock Content

No matter how you look at it, Burdine remained a little girl at heart. Hence the desire, childishly vain, to wear a princess's crown. Her mother was demanding, and the "little bird" never managed to be a princess with her. And only now had the moment come to prove to the world that this Maxwell was of royal blood.
An inferiority complex permeated her whole being. That must be why, despite the apparent success, failures fell on her one after another. Not knowing who to hate, Burdine cursed the self-confident Bratz teenagers, her clueless assistants, the readers who would not recognize a good article even if it were right under their noses... However, Burdine could not hate herself. She felt very sorry for herself - and all because the world could not understand her soul... or rather, her style, yes, her style!
Sophisticated, feminine, in pink tones... Her careerist mother loved gray, so Burdine sought to add a little taste to her life (she sincerely did not realize the level of unusual taste).
Byron read all this on her face after the first minute of their acquaintance - on the plane, when their dogs tumbled with each other. He did not feel sorry for her - she was too eccentric, unpleasant and self-centered, he preferred teaching her a lesson. Being a TV host, his professional habit transferred to life: when there is shock content, there is no pity. And Burdine was that shock content.
That is why, when they got stuck in the elevator together, and her face completely red from shame and anger, backed away to the wall, he only grinned. And as if by chance, he showed her a bottle of cognac...
At first, Burdine desperately did not want to drink - she demanded, shouted to call the repairmen, who were already rushing to help as fast as they could. Then she calmed down and agreed...
She took a sip from the bottle like a dedicated alcoholic as she got drunk right before our eyes - the changes in her did not escape Byron's penetrating gaze.
How unexpectedly beautiful she was, sitting on the floor, with loose, slightly tousled hair, with worn-out make-up, with her blouse unbuttoned to her chest (you can see lace underwear - white, oddly enough) - either laughing or sobbing for no reason. That very mature beauty that all sorts of young brats can envy...
''Then why this ridiculous look? What's the point of the stupid crown?', he wondered. ''Does that mean she doesn't see it in herself? This genuine, strong, present?'
Byron also seemed to be starting to get drunk. And with this came a feeling that he wanted this woman. He wants to pull this hair, this throat in his fist...
She, as if noticing a change in him, suddenly, for the long time of their acquaintance, for the first time became the strongest in their mental-verbal-emotional competition. And, approaching, running her finger over his chest, she sarcastically told him the story of how she lost her virginity.
And then she kissed him; the kiss was long and deep, rather slobbery, and tasted like vomit... When they broke it, neither of them wanted sex anymore. Or to look at each other either.
Finally, they were taken out, and Burdine staggered back to her office. She yelled at the twins and ordered them to bring her an ice pack. She sobered up, but the nasty kiss could not be forgotten. Only more shame and anger engulfed the unfortunate "birdie". And yet, how unlucky she is in love...
And Byron, having gone to the Bratz editorial office, suddenly discovered on his phone that he had taken several photos of a drunk Burdine.
"Now that's really shock content," he chuckled.
