A/N: I do not own Grey's Anatomy. I only own the original characters I created
I do not know how to speak Italian, I just used google translate.

I apologize for not being able to update for a hot minute. I was busy with finishing all of my requirements for school since I was a senior and when I started writing this story I was in the middle of our final month. I'm not sure if I will be able to finish this story but I'll try to upload the chapters that I have pre-written.

Thank you so much for reading my story, to begin with.

"She is opinionated, as most of us are, but you won't find yourself impaled on her arguments; she doesn't charge at you as some people do. What [she] does is walk slowly and steadily into a conversational battle, somehow managing to deflect all incoming targets until she stands in your corner with her flag dug firmly into the ground. I think it comes from the deep-seated confidence she possesses at her core. I think it is the powerful combination of encouraged individualism and a strong family unit." — Carrie Adams

Seattle, Washington

Meredith was startled by her phone because after she left the OR, she went to the chief's office she was spaced out remembering her time in Milan.

"Hello" Meredith answered.

"Ellie, Bambina, how are you?" Anna asked Meredith on the phone.

"I'm fine, Mamma."

"You do know that we don't believe you when you say that. Miele, what's wrong? Because from what I see it was bigger than Derek having a wife and dying since Mike is coming to you."

"Mamma, it's like, whenever I choose for me, everyone sees it as something selfish and says I'm always in the wrong. Remember when we last talked, I was moving to Minnesota for me and my career, then all of a sudden I'm selfish, I don't appreciate all of the things that my family here at Grey-Sloan did. Then when others have the thought of leaving, it's okay for them, no shouting match, no you owe us. Mamma, perche e sempre colpa mia? Mom, why is it always my fault?

"I don't know Miele, I don't know. Do you want that your Papa and I come with Mike?"

"No, mamma. I'm bothering Luke, as it is plus you and papa have a hospital to run."

"But, we'll visit soon Bambina, if Mike can visit you, we sure as hell won't miss it, plus I want to see the kids. But for now, we'll stay here."

"Of course mamma, you know why I didn't want you to visit me in the first place. But right now I need my family since everyone I love leaves me." Meredith choked while thinking about it.

"Miele, you know your papa and me, and Mike is always there for you. Ti amo, Miele."

"Anch'io ti amo, mamma."

Milan, Italy

After the phone call, Anna went to find his husband in his office. She also asked a nurse to page their son.

"Mi Amore, Ellie is hurting," Anna said as soon as she entered her husband's office.

"I can tell, Mike wouldn't leave the hospital without Ellie's approval."

Luca then arrived at his father's office to see his mother crying.

"Mamma, what happened?" He asked quickly

"I just… It's just… Ellie is hurting bambino. She told me that when she wants to do something for her, everyone is against it, making her feel like she's in debt to everyone in that hospital, while others can just freely go. That's what she told me on the phone after we talked.

"I knew there was more to the story than her boyfriend leaving and being given the interim chief title."

With that, Luca made a decision right there and then that he'll leave Milan that day.

"Mamma, Papa, I should leave today. I don't want Liz to suffer more than she had already. Mamma, what was it you want me to bring Liz and the kids?"

"Don't think about it bambino, as soon as Ellie is okay with knowing her other life, your papa and I will follow you there."

"Are you sure mamma?"

"Si."

"Papa, you need to find a temporary Chief of Cardio while I'm gone, I'll help Liz with GSM."

"You do remember that your Mamma is a cardio attending, she'll handle everything. Don't worry about it, take care of our Ellie."

On that note, Luca hugged and kissed Anna on the cheek and hugged Josef.
