I followed close behind my family as we hurried towards the platform entrance, pushing our trunks in front of us. "Always packed with Muggles…" Mum complained. "Now, what's the platform number?" Mum asked us.

"Nine and three-quarters!" Ginny chirped, clutching Mum's hand. "Mum, can't I-"

"You're not old enough yet Ginny, now be quiet. All right, Percy, you go first." Percy marched forward and positioned his trunk directly between platform nine and ten. He geared up and walked forward, passing through the barrier and onto the platform. "You next, Kenzie." I lent over, pressing a quick kiss to Mum's cheek before heading onto the platform. The hustle and bustle of King's Cross Station were soon forgotten as the familiar sounds of Wizards and Witches and magic filled my ears. I took in a deep breath, grinning as the smell of the Trolley Lady's baked goods wafted through the air. Owls soared through the sky, cats wound their bodies around owners and strangers alike and the croaking of toads could be heard if you listened hard enough.

I could see Percy heading towards the back of the train and I rolled my eyes. I readjusted my knapsack on my shoulder and headed onto the train. I followed my brothers as they helped a young boy onto the train. The kid had messy black hair, green eyes, and round glasses perched on his nose. "Right if I sit with you?" I asked, poking my head into the cabin.

"Yeah, sure." The young boy said, gesturing to the opposite side of the cabin. I dumped my bag on the seat and hoisted my trunk up on the bars above. Fred and George had pushed the boy's trunk into the corner. "Thanks." The boy pushed his hair out of his face, and my eyes widened. A lightning bolt scar was etched onto his forehead. My hair flashed pastel yellow.

"What's that?" Fred asked, pointing at the boy's forehead.

"Blimey." George exclaimed, "Are you-"

"He is. Aren't you?"

"What?" The boy asked, a little frightened. I pushed my brothers out of the way.

"You're Harry Potter, right?" I questioned.

"Oh, him. I mean, yes, I am." I shared a look with my younger brothers, and grins broke out onto our faces.

"Fred? George? Kenzie? Are you there?" Mum called.

"Coming Mum!" The three of us chorused. We took one glance back at Harry before we exited the train to find Mum, Ginny and Ron. Mum had already whipped out her handkerchief and was inching towards Ron.

"Ron, you've got something on your nose." Ron tried to get away, however, Mum's been wrangling us for years, she managed to grab him and start rubbing the end of his nose.

"Mum, geroff." Ron complained, managing to break free.

"Ah, as ickle Ronnie got somefink on his nosie?" George cooed.

"Shut up."

"Where's Percy?" Mum asked, looking around.

"He's coming up now." I told her, nodding to where Percy was striding towards us, already in his Hogwarts robes, with a little red and gold badge pinned to his chest with a little 'P' engraved onto it.

"Can't stay long Mother. I'm upfront. The Prefects have got two compartments to themselves-"

"Oh, are you a Prefect, Percy?" Fred wondered sarcastically. "You should have said something, we had no idea."

"Hang on, I think I remember him saying something about it." George continued. "Once."

"Or twice."

"A minute."

"All summer."

"Oh shut up." Percy but in.

"How come Percy gets new robes anyway?" Fred asked.

"Because he's a Prefect." Mum stressed. "Alright dear, have a good term, send me an owl once you get there." Mum kissed Percy on the cheek before he left. She then turned to Fred and George, "Now, you two, this year, you behave yourselves. If I get one more owl telling me you've blown up a toilet or-"

"Blow up a toilet? We'd never blow up a toilet."

"Great idea though, thanks Mum." Fred chimed.

"It's not funny." Mum stressed. "Kenzie, make sure they stay out of trouble." Mum said, turning to me. "I'll send Aquila when I get home, you know how she is. And look after Ron." I nodded.

"Don't worry Mum." I soothed, resting my hands on her arms. "I won't let anything happen to them. He's safe with me."

"Shut up." Ron grumbled.

"Hey Mum, guess what?" George said, "Guess who we just saw on the train?"

"You know that black-haired boy who was near the station?" Fred continued. "Know who he is?"

"Who?" Mum asked.

"Would you believe that he's Harry Potter." I said.

"Oh Mum!" Ginny gasped, tugging on Mum's sleeve. "Can I go on the train and see him? Mum, oh please."

"You've already seen him, Ginny, and the poor boy isn't something to goggle at in a zoo." Mum then turned to me. "Is he really, Kenzie? How do you know."

"Asked him." Fred but in, "Saw his scar, it's really there, like lightning."

"Poor dear. No wonder he was alone. I wondered. He was ever so polite when he asked how to get onto the platform."

"Never mind that, do you think he remembers what You-Know-Who looks like?" Mum's face hardened.

"I forbid you to ask him, Fred." Mum ordered. "No, don't you dare. As though he needs reminding of that on his first day of school."

"Alright, keep your hair on." The whistle of the train cut through the noise.

"Hurry up." Mum ussured, gently pushing us into the train. We all got on and found a window, leaning out to talk to her. Mum reached up and managed to kiss us all. I reached down and grabbed Ginny's hand. She promptly started to cry.

"Hey, Gin, it's gonna be ok." I assured her, my hand gripping hers. My hair bled from the roots, the brown becoming amaranth. "I'll be sure to send you letters every week, just like last year, ok?" Ginny nodded sadly.

"We'll send you a Hogwarts toilet seat." George commented.

"George!" Mum protested.

"Only joking, Mum." I reluctantly let go of Ginny's hand, waving to her as the train moved out of the station. My hair gained a sapphire hue as we turned a corner and our Mother and sister disappeared. I brought my body back into the train, my hair returning to it's natural brown. I turned on my heel and strode to my compartment.

"Come on Ron." I called behind me. Ron scrambled to follow. I opened my compartment door, "Room for one more?" I asked, plopping into my seat.

"Everywhere else is full." Ron added. Harry nodded, and Ron practically fell into the seat next to me. I snorted in amusement. He still had a black spot on his nose.

"Hey Ron." The twins chorused.

"Listen, we're going down the middle of the train, Lee Jordan's got a giant tarantula down there." Fred explained excitedly.

"Right." Ron mumbled.

"Ok, ok, before anything else, introductions." I but in. "The twins are Fred and George." I said, pointing to them respectively, "This here is Ron." I nudged Ron in the arm, "And I'm Mackenzie, but you can just call me Kenzie."

"See you later then." George added before he and Fred closed the compartment door and walked away.

"Are you really Harry Potter." Ron blurted.

"Ron!" I scolded. Harry nodded.

"Oh, well, I thought that it might have been one of Fred and George's jokes that Kenzie jumped in on. And have you really got you know…" Ron gestured weakly at Harry's forehead. The boy who lived pushed back his fringe and showed us his lightning scar. "So that's where You-Know-Who-"

"Yes." Harry but in. "But I can't remember it."

"Nothing?"

"Well, I remember a lot of green light, but nothing else."

"Wow…" Ron trailed off. He was staring at Harry, so I whacked him over the back of the head. "Hey!"

"Are all you're family Wizards?" Harry asked us. I nodded.

"Pretty much." I said. "I think Mum's got a second cousin or something who's a Muggle accountant but we don't talk about him."

"You must know loads of magic already."

"I heard you live with Muggles." Ron said, leaning forward in his seat, "What are they like?"

"Horrible, well, not all of them. My aunt and uncle and cousin are, though. I wish I had three wizard brothers."

"There are actually eight kids in our family, six boys and two girls." I corrected. "Ron's the seventh one of us to come to Hogwarts."

"Lot of good that does me." Ron grumbled. "I've got a lot to live up to!" Ron turned to Harry. "Bill and Charlie have already left, Bill was Head Boy and Charlie was Captain of Quidditch. Now Percy's a Prefect. Kenzie has her Metamorphmagus and Legilimency. Fred and George mess around a lot, but they still get really good marks and everyone thinks they're really funny. Everyone expects me to do as well as the others, but if I do, it's no big deal, because they did it first. You never get anything new, either, with five brothers. I've got Bill's old robes, Charlie's old wand, and Percy's old rat." Ron reached inside his jacket and pulled out Scabbers. I leaned away from it, my hair flashing lime green. Scabber's thoughts weren't the best and he creeped me out.

"You bought Scabbers on the train?" I complained. "Seriously, Ron."

"His name's Scabbers and he's useless, he hardly ever wakes up. Percy got an owl from my dad for being made a Prefect, but they couldn't aff-I mean, I got Scabbers instead." Ron's ears turned red, and looked out the window. I looked down, my fists clenching on my lap as my hair flashed an iceberg blue for a second before returning brown. Harry then proceeded to go on about his life.

"..and until Hagrid told me, I didn't know anything about being a wizard or about my parents or Voldemort." Harry stated. My eyes widened and my hair just about flew backwards about how quick it turned white.

"Shhh!" I hissed at him, putting my finger over my mouth.

"What?" Harry questioned.

"You said You-Know-Who's name!" Ron told him, his voice somehow containing shock, awe and fear. "I'd have thought you, of all people-"

"I'm not trying to be brave or anything, saying the name. I just never knew you shouldn't. See what I mean? I've got loads to learn...I bet...I bet I'm the worst in the class."

"You won't be, don't worry your little head." I reached over and ruffled Harry's hair as mine turned brown again. "There's a whole load of Muggle Born Witches and Wizards who make it into Hogwarts, you'll pick up quickly enough." The three of us continued to talk and have fun as the Hogwarts Express took us out of London, and now all that could be seen was rolling fields filled with cows and sheep. Metal clucking was heard as the Trolley Lady appeared at the door. She slid open the door with a smile.

"Anything off the cart, dears?" She asked. Harry lept to his feet as Ron pulled out his sandwiches. I clapped my hands once and Ron tossed me my sandwich. As I unwrapped mine, Harry returned to his seat with an armful of just about every candy on the trolley. My hair became a mix of pastel yellow and India green. I then grit my teeth, shaking my head out. No. I thought, Just because he's got more money means there's no need to be jealous.

"Hungry, are you?" Rom managed to ask.

"Starving." Harry replied. Ron unwrapped his sandwich.

"She always forgets I don't like corned beef." He complained. I tapped him on the shoulder, offering him my sandwich.

"Here." I said softly. "It's tuna." Ron smiled gratefully and took the sandwich.

"Swap you for one of these." Harry spoke up, holding up a pumpkin pastie. "Go on-"

"You don't want that." Ron said, pointing to the sandwich beside him. "She hasn't got much time, you know...the six of us."

"Go on, have a pasty, both of you." Ron and I exchanged a look before we both dove in. "What are these?" Harry asked us, holding up a packet of Chocolate Frogs. "They're not real frogs, are they?"

"No, but see what the card is." Ron suggested. "I'm missing Agrippa."

"What?"

"Ok, quick rundown on Chocolate Frogs." I spoke up, shifting forward in my seat. I tapped the packaging, "Each of these packets has a card in them. Each card is of a famous witch or wizard you get to collect. You should see Ron's collection. He's got about five-hundred or so, he's only missing two." Harry then eagerly unwrapped his treat, picking up the card.

"So this is Dumbledore!" He realised.

"Don't tell me you've never heard of Dumbledore!" Ron exclaimed. "Can I have a frog, I might get Agrippa-thanks." Harry handed over a frog as he read the back of the card. I nicked a box of Bettie Bott's Every Flavour Beans and ripped the packet open.

"He's gone!"

"Well, you can't expect him to hang around all day, he'll be back. No, I've got Morgana again and I've got about six of her...do you want it? You can start collecting." Ron handed the card back, eying the pile of unwrapped Chocolate Frogs.

"Help yourself." Harry offered. "But in, you know, the Muggle world, people just stay put in photos."

"Do they really?" I wondered, amazement lacing my tone as my hair turned bright lavender. "They're just still? They don't move one bit? That's epic." Harry and Ron then proceeded to unwrap all the other frogs. When they were done, Harry turned to a packet of Bettie Bott's Every Flavour Beans and opened it. "Careful with these things." I warned him, "When they mean every flavour, they mean it."

"You know, you get all the ordinary ones like chocolate and peppermint and marmalade, but then you can get spinach, liver and tripe." Ron added. "George swears he got a bogger flavoured one once." I grabbed one out of my packet and popped it out, only to cringe and spit it back out, my hair turning android green.

"Eugh, that's the worst." I complained, grabbing a Cauldron Cake and eating it quickly.

"What'd you get?"

"Pipe smoke." We all then had a blast, eating different flavoured beans and rating their tastes. The fields outside the window became words, rivers and hills, we were nearing school. Out compartment door then opened. A round face boy poked his head into the compartment. He looked as if he was about to cry.

"Sorry, but have you seen a toad at all?" He asked. We shook our heads. "I've lost him! He keeps getting away from me."

"He'll turn up." Harry told him.

"If I hear anything I'll come find him, ok?" I assured, "No animal gets past me."

"Yeah, well if you see him…" The boy then left.

"Don't know why he's so bothered." Ron said. "If I'd brought a toad I'd lose it as quick as I could. Mind you, I brought Scabbers, so I can't talk." I glanced down at Scabbers that was sleeping on Ron's lap. "He might have died and you wouldn't know the difference. I tried to turn him yellow yesterday to make him more interesting, but the spell didn't work. I'll show you, look..." Ron reached into his trunk and pulled out his wand. It was Charlie's old one, so it was chipped in some places, even the Unicorn Hair was just sticking out the end. Ron raised his wand, and when he did, the compartment opened up again. I turned and saw a bushy brown haired girl. She was wearing her robes already. Behind her was the boy who had lost his toad earlier.

"Has anyone seen a toad? Neville's lost one." She said. Her voice was a little snooty. Well, I guess the kid's name was Neville.

"We've already told him we haven't seen it." Ron started to tell her, but she could only focus on his wand.

"Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see it, then." The girl plopped down on the seat opposite Ron.

"Er...all right." Ron then cleared his throat. "Sunshine, Daisies, Butter Mellow, turn this stupid fat rat yellow!" Ron waved his wand, however, nothing happened to Scabbers, he still slept on Ron's lap, all grey still.

"Are you sure that's a real spell?" The girl questioned with a scoff. "Well, it's not very good, is it? I've tried a few simple spells just for practice and it's all worked for me. Nobody in my family's magic at all, it was ever such a surprise when I got my letter, but I was ever so pleased, of course, I mean, it's the very best school of witchcraft there is, I've heard-I've learned all our course books by heart, of course, I just hope it will be enough-I'm Hermione Granger, by the way, who are you?" I blinked, I was surprised an eleven-year-old had that in her.

"This is Ron Weasly." I introduced, gesturing to my redheaded brother, "I'm Mackenzie Weasly, you can just call me Kenzie, and that over there is Harry Potter.

"Are you really? I know all about you, of course, I got a few extra books. for background reading, and you're in Modern Magical History and The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts and Great Wizarding Events of the Twentieth Century."

"Am I?" Harry questioned, I could hear the awe and overwhelming feelings in his voice.

"Goodness, didn't you know, I'd have found out everything I could if it was me. Do either of you know what house you'll be in? I've been asking around, and I hope I'm in Gryffindor, it sounds by far the best; I hear Dumbledore himself was in it, but I suppose Ravenclaw wouldn't be too bad...Anyway, we'd better go and look for Neville's toad. You three had better change, you know, I expect we'll be there soon." And with that, Hermione stood and swept out of the room, taking Neville with her.

"Whatever house I'm in, I hope she's not in it." Ron stated. He threw his wand back into his truck. "Stupid spell, George gave it to me, bet he knew it was a dud."

"That wasn't even a spell." I informed him. "Fred and George were messing with you."

"What house are you and your brothers in?" Harry asked, directing the question at me. I smirked, pulling most of my hair over my shoulder. With a quick thought, my hair turned scarlet and gold.

"We're all Gryffindoor's." I told him before leaning back and letting my hair turn back to brown.

"Mum and Dad were in it too." Ron added. "I don't know what they'll say if I'm not. I don't suppose Ravenclaw would be too bad, but imagine if they put me in Slytherin."

"That's the house Vol-" Harry started, but cut himself off at my glare, "I mean, You-Know-Who was in?"

"Yeah."

"You know, I think the ends of Scabbers' whiskers are a bit lighter. So what do your oldest brothers do now that they've left, anyway?" Harry wondered. A grin spread across my face, my hair turning cyan almost instantly.

"Our second oldest brother, Charlie, he's over in Romania studying Dragons." I told him excitedly. "And then there's our eldest brother, Bill, he's been sent to Africa to work on something from Gringotts."

"Did you hear about Gringotts?" Ron asked our black haired friend. "It's been all over the Daily Prophet, but I don't suppose you get that with the Muggles...someone tried to rob a high security

vault."

"Really? What happened to them?"

"Nothing, that's why it's such big news. They haven't been caught. My dad says it must've been a powerful Dark wizard to get round Gringotts, but they don't think they took anything, that's what's odd. 'Course, everyone gets scared when something like this happens in case You-Know-Who's behind it." Ron paused as Harry thought this over. "What's your Quidditch Team?"

"Blimey Ron." I laughed, my hair returning to brown. "He's never heard of the Prophet, I doubt he'd know about Quidditch."

"Er...I don't know any." Harry confessed.

"See."

"What!" Ron looked dumbfounded. "Oh, you wait, it's the best game in the world-" And he was off. Ron went on to explain in great detail the 'greatest Wizarding game in the world'. His words not mine. I just watched in fondness as Ron and Harry bonded. Our compartment door jerked open again, and a pale blonde boy stepped into the room, flanked by two large boys like bodyguards.

"Is it true?" He asked. "They're saying all down the train that Harry Potter's in this compartment. So it's you, is it?"

"Yes." Harry replied evenly, eying the other two boys. My hand rested over my jacket pocket where my wand was resting.

"Oh, this is Crabbe and this is Goyle," The pale boy said carelessly, gesturing between the two respectively. "And my name's Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." Ron snorted, but tried to cover it with a cough. I reached behind him and slapped him over the back of the head. Malfoy glared at him.

"Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask who you are. My father told me all the Weasleys have red hair, freckles, and more children than they can afford." My hair flared crimson red, and I could feel that my eyes had changed as well. Malfoy turned back to Harry. "You'll soon find out some wizarding families are much better than others, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there." Malfoy offered Harry his hand. Harry looked down at it, and then up to the blond weasel.

"I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks." Harry told him. Malfoy flushed red.

"I'd be careful if I were you, Potter." He said slowly. "Unless you're a bit politer you'll go the same way as your parents. They didn't know what was good for them, either. You hang around with riffraff like the Weasleys and that Hagrid, and it'll rub off on you." The three of us stood. Due to my age, I was quite a bit taller, and my hand gripped my wand.

"Say that again." Ron said, his face as red as his hair.

"Oh, you're going to fight us, are you?" Malfoy sneered.

"Unless you get out now." Harry added.

"But we don't feel like leaving, do we, boys? We've eaten all our food and you still seem to have some." Goyle reached for the Chocolate Frogs, and I was just about to draw my wand when the boy let out a wail. He pulled his hand back and I smirked when I saw Scabbers hanging off his finger, his teeth dug deep near Goyle's knuckles. His other friends wisely backed away as Goyle swung his hand wildly. Scabbers then flew off Goyle's finger and hit the window with a thunk. The three then wisely ran away. I turned and knelt next to Scabbers, my hair and eyes returning to brown and green respectively.

"You ok there Scabs?" I asked softly, gently picking him up. Scabbers twitched in my hands. He looked up at me and cleaned his snout with his paws.

"Oh, yes, yes I'm ok Miss Kenzie." Scabbers chittered. "If you don't mind putting me back down now, I want to go back to sleep."

"Very well." I set Scabbers back down on a seat.

"What's been going on?" A voice demanded fom the doorway. I stood properly and turned to see Hermione, bar Nevile.

"Scabbers is ok." I informed them, pulling my trunk from the top of the compartment. "He's just sleeping."

"Have you met Malfoy before?" Ron asked, turning to Harry. The black-haired boy explained the brief meeting they had at Diagon Alley. "I've heard of his family. They were some of the first to come back to our side after You-Know-Who disappeared. Said they'd been bewitched. My dad doesn't believe it. He says Malfoy's father didn't need an excuse to go over to the Dark Side." He turned to Hermione. "Can we help you with something?"

"You'd better hurry up and put your robes on." Hermione informed us. "I've just been up to the

front to ask the conductor, and he says we're nearly there. You haven't been fighting, have you? You'll be in trouble before we even get there!"

"It wasn't us fighting." I told her, opening my trunk and fishing out my robes. "It was the rat. Do you mind leaving while the boys and I change?"

"All right, I only came in here because people outside are behaving very childishly, racing up and down the corridors. And you've got dirt on your nose, by the way, did you know?" With a sweep of her cloak, Hermione was gone.

"Now, boys, out while I change." I said, pushing them out of the cabin. I closed the door, locked it and pulled down the blinds before I started to change into my uniform. A white shirt, black tights, with matching knee-length skirt. When I was mostly done, I grabbed my tie and exited the compartment, "Call me in when you're done." I told them, moving over so they could get in. I waited outside in the hall for the boys to finish as I fastened my scarlet and gold tie. Pretty soon, I was let back into the compartment. The difference in Ron's robes was clear. His were faded, slightly grey and his shoes could be seen out the bottom of them. When I was back in the room, I pulled my sweater over my head, and then my robes over that. I pulled on my black pumps and managed to tie my hair up into a messy ponytail.

When everyone was done, we all piled out into the corridor and onto the platform. I turned to Ron and Harry. "You two should go follow Hagrid." I told them, looking up to see the half-giant lumbering towards us. "I'll see you both after the Sorting." I gave Ron a quick hug and pressed a kiss to the top of his head before I turned and followed the other years up to the carriages. I managed to find myself on a carriage with my brothers and the twin's friend Lee Jordan. I walked to the front of the carriage and gently ran my hand over the Thestrals bony head. "I'm sorry my friend." I whispered. The Thestral pressed it's head to me before pulling away. I hoisted myself into the carriage and we were off. I watched as we slowly and slowly got closer towards Hogwarts. A smile slowly grew on my face. We were almost at our home away from home. And I could tell this year was gonna be different.
