A/N: Inspired by the deleted scene in Pre-nuptial where Kendall tells Caroline he 'forgives' her.
Kendall is ten years old. His father is away for the weekend and his mother has been entertaining guests in his absence. Kendall spent the evening building a fort with Roman and Shiv and playing dare games, but now the others are asleep and Kendall is alone.
He's always been good at moving stealthily around his home. Out of curiosity, he slips downstairs to see what's left of the party.
Most of his mother's friends have gone, but he can hear noises coming from his father's study. Peering around the door, he can see his mother on the desk, in a strange position, a man grunting as he moves up and down above her.
Kendall pulls away from the doorframe instinctively, but not before his mother looks up and catches his eye.
He runs back to his bed before he can think about what he's doing. He thinks his mother might follow him, but she doesn't.
He thinks about waking Roman and Shiv to tell them what he saw. He wonders if he should tell his father when he returns. What if he has Caroline locked up, like Connor's mom?
The following day, Caroline acts like nothing happened. Logan returns from his work trip and Caroline shows no signs of guilt or nervousness. Kendall starts to wonder if maybe he imagined the whole thing, until he overhears a conversation between his parents, also in his father's study.
"I do worry about Kendall," Caroline is saying. "He's so soft, and he still has that embarrassing stutter. I've been thinking, military school might be good for him. There are a few good places in England. Toughen him up a littleā¦"
"Huh." Logan sounds like he is giving this idea thoughtful consideration. "Maybe. Personally I think it's Romulus who needs more disciplineā¦"
Kendall slips away quietly and goes out of his way to be nice to his mother from that point onwards. He puts the incident out of his mind, until he's almost forgotten it completely. The threat of military school never materialises, not for him anyway.
