WE'RE BACK FOLKS! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

(Warning. Or Trigger Warning as we call it: There is a scene involving a flogging in the chapter. I will leave a trigger warning mark for those who can't handle reading such a harsh treatment.)

Before I say anything. Let me give everyone a reminder. I'm not a purist of Final Fantasy 16. I adore that game, but I can make changes since this is a variant universe that has a tale based on the Count Of Monte Cristo after all. So if you see any character relation or definition or character death that's missing. That's why.

Oh! And now that we are in our twentieth chapter of this story. It's time for you-know-who to make her comeback with the Moonstone. However this chapter will be flashback focused to explain the backstory of Clive Rosfield the Count of Radiant Garden.

So 'she' who is 'you-know-who' will appear at the end. πŸ‘Œ

"And it's clobberin time after this one." Maverick smacked his fists together. "She got some nerve to become a twist-villain for season 3." 😠

Damn straight.

Also another famous MCU character from space will make an appearance in this chapter. I'll give you a hint. He has the whistle of an angel. πŸ˜‰

But first let's answer some comments.

SPYRO 101: Oh we'll get to those guys soon. After all, King Arthur and Merlin were in their show. Thanks again for helping me with this chapter. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Guest: While I have no plans for such a crossover. I'll see what I can do in the future. I just got to get familiarized with X-Men Evolution again cause it's been years since I've watched it. And I've been focused on X-Men 97 recently. πŸ‘Œ

KHfan12: Thank you! Me too! Especially since Clive was a child she gave birth to in the game. Anabella doesn't have that same description in relations but ultimately she'll care more for Clive. I can promise you that she's not that Heartless witch from the game. πŸ˜ŒπŸ‘

Alright! Now that we're all here!

LET'S GET DANGEROUS! 😎

The Count Of Radiant Garden.

Morning at The Guardians Hideaway...

It was the day after a complicated but successful mission. The invitations for all of Clive Rosfield's targets were sent out. And the prison he suffered in was destroyed with the prisoners all set free.

Rapunzel had gotten up and ready to start a new day as a Guardian. She had breakfast with the team. And the Princess was in the living room watering dome of the new the flowers with a water canteen for Groot, especially sense he asked for a little help.

But as she finished. Rapunzel heard the doorbell ring.

"Can you get that for us? It's probably Cid?" Friday called out from upstairs.

"Yeah. I got it!" Rapunzel called back before rushing to the door, opening it to reveal Cud on the other side. "Good morning, Cid."

"Morning Princess." Cid grinned a little as he was invited in. "Word's gotten out about a certain controversial prison went up in flames yesterday. And no one found even a lead to the perpetrators. Wonder what's that all about?"

Obviously he's being smug about Rapunzel and the Guardians successfully blowing that prison to hell yesterday.

"Gee, that's quite a surprise." Rapunzel said with her own smug smirk. "Whoever did that must've been pretty good if they left no leads."

"You don't say." Cid scoffed as he continued. "With the Chateau Γ‰pine gone up in flames, for everyone to see. Old Barnaby and his Waloed crown will have to rely on dealing with his prisoners and arrests by the books."

"That's good to hear." Rapunzel said with her smirk. "I'm sure he's not too happy about that, which makes it even better."

"Yeah well. If Clive weren't so bloody gun ho about his big revenge scheme. This would've satisfied him." Cid said in response.

"Yeah, that's a shame." Rapunzel muttered before asking. "How did he really end up there, anyway?"

Before Cid could answer. He was about to pull out a blue crystal cigarette and then he noticed the 'No Smoking' sign.

"Mind if we take this story out on the balcony?" Cid asked.

"Sure." Rapunzel nodded as she followed Cid to the living room balcony. Where there was a excellent view of Radiant Garden Square.

"Back in day. Clive Rosfield was the son of a Banker named Elwin Rosfield. Who later lost his wife to a raid at the bank. Later on when Clive was in his twenties his father was courting the Duchess of Rosaria. A woman named Anabella, who showed little favor to Clive due to his years of what could've been education. Wasted of a life of traveling again into trouble. But his father and she soon were wedded and then gave birth to a son named Joshua. Who of course was chosen to be the legendary Dominant of the Phoenix."

"The Phoenix? You mean the immortal fire bird that dies but is reborn from the ashes?" Rapunzel asked in shock.

'Not the Phoenix Force if that's what you're asking.' PRO answered from the room's speaker.

'Totally different myth! Besides Marvel has more than one Steve.' TEC added.

"Thanks for clearing that up." Rapunzel said, rolling her eyes with a smirk. "So, Joshua was chosen to be the Dominant of the Phoenix. What did that entail?"

"Same as any other dominant who can summon the power of an Eikon. Let alone turn into one. The Phoenix was considered the light of Rosaria. Back in its glory days. And the royal bloodline of Annabella Carried this title for over generations." Cid explained as they stepped outside on the balcony and he lit a cigarette with some blue spark on his finger. "And I should know. I'm the Dominant of Ramuh. Eikon of Lightning."

"Wow! So, you can control lightning like Friday does?" Rapunzel asked, her eyes lit up in amazement.

'Thor. Storm. Electro. Zeus. Maveress and his girl. And the Mav Man's flame.' PRO listed.

'Sheesh! What will be the next fad? Paper?!' TEC added.

Cid ignored them as he kept speaking.

"I'm more restrictive with my power. Mostly in combat. I only use em when the situation demands it." Cid stated as he smokes his cigarette. "Back in my day I was the Lord Commander of Waloed. Back when the late King Durmond ruled."

"Was he a good king?" Rapunzel asked.

"More or less. He had a tad more honor than Barnabas. But he wasn't perfect. And neither was I. The Kingdom of Waloed looked down upon all Branded. Just like every other Kingdom that wasn't the Holy Empire Sanbreque itself. Or Radiant Garden." Cid stated. "As for today's King, Barnabas Tharmr. The nephew of the King. He and his father the Duke were in charge of the royal shipping company. Where he would often travel. Alongside his best friend Clive."

"Clive was friends with him?" Rapunzel asked surprised.

"Aye. They was both as commendable as two trouble makers could be. Only Barnabas was more educated. More experienced with combat. Especially since Clive had no idea how a sword would work. Not that it stopped him from getting a job done while at sea." Cid stated as he continued the story. "Till one day when Clive and Barnabas were shipping off some goods in Radiant Garden. Their ship was being attacked by some priates from the Iron Blood crusaders of Dhelmekia..."

As Cid continued the story. At least to the best of his own knowledge told by Clive and a few other contacts. Let us see what really happened that day.

16 years ago in Radiant Garden...

Near the shore of the shipping facility. A group of local knights and patrolling guards were clashing their swords against the Iron Blood Pirates. While Barnabas and Clive were among them. Or rather sneaking around the cargo on the ship to avoid a fight.

Clive was around the age of 21 at the time while Barnabas was just three years older than him. In his youth, his hair is cut short and he wears a white vest over a red shirt, with red gloves. Long matching pants and boots. He was equipped with leather shoulder pauldrons, elbow guards, and hip armor, along with a sword strapped to his hip fpr protection. Not that he knew how to use one.

Wear as Barnabas wore a similar outfit but a black vest over a gray shirt. Long matching pants and boots. And his armor was similar but with black leather.

But then three pirates jumpd out and ambushed them.

"Ha ha!" On of them shouted.

"You take the back I'll take he front." Clive quickly said.

"No. I'll take the front." Barnabas replied. "I know what a sword is."

Barnabas then tossed a pistol to Clive.

"Fair enough." Clive quickly said as he began to point and shoot at the pirates behind them.

While Barnabas was clashing with the pirates in front. Clive knew how to use a pistol at least. So Barnabas managed to kill the three pirates in front. While Clive shot down five to six pirates. Before one knocked him down.

And just before the pirate was gonna kill him with a dagger to the back. Barnabas stabbed the pirate from behind. Saving Clive's life. But then before they could say anything.

Clive quickly shot another pirate that was about to shoot at Barnabas from behind. And killed him with a shot to the head. Saving Barnabas' life.

"Good you finally hit something." Barnabas joked which Clive grinned at before they both ran.

After they jumped off the ship. The local law enforcement came in to finish the rest. And even made some arrested of the pirates that surrendered.

Later on at the Radiant Garden Tavern...

Clive and Barnabas got themselves a table and ordered a meal. Along with some drinks of rum in some silver iron mugs. And they toasted their mugs laughing a bit.

"To yet another successful shipment." Clive toasted.

"And to an unsuccessful raid." Barnabas said, making himself and Clive laugh.

"Hahahahaha!" They both laughed and drinked to their friendship and success.

As the tavern had a band playing instrumental music. With other visitors and customers laughing at their tables about their business and jokes. Some would flirt with the waitresses.

"I swear Barnaby. Being your friend is always an adventure." Clive complemented as he laughed while Barnabas propped his legs on the table and leaned back.

"Yes it is. Isn't it? Pretty adventurous." Barnabas agreed and commented. "The kind that usually doesn't last forever. And neither will this."

"What?" Clive chuckled as he inquired.

Barnabas just waved it off. "Don't worry about it. Just thinking out loud." He answered as he dranked.

Just then. A Guard came in and walked up to them.

"Which one of you is Clive Rosfield?" The Guard asked.

"That's me." Clive said, raising a hand slightly.

"What did he do? I'll pay for any bail. I always do." Barnabas asked teasingly.

"Yeah, when we're both the ones in trouble." Clive teased.

"You're not in any trouble, Lads. Not this time. Mason The Wise wishes to see you Mr Rosfield. If you could come with me." The guard replied.

"The leading head Household of Radiant Garden? You're moving up in the world." Barnabas grinned as he took a sip of his drink.

"I'm bot so sure. But I'll see. Save a drink for me, Barnaby. I'll be back." Clive said as he patted his shoulder and got up to follow the guard.

After leaving the pub. Clive followed the guard outside as the was taken inside of a carriage that was on its way to the Castle of Radiant Garden.

Down at the Radiant Garden Castle...

Mason the Wise was a elderly man with blonde hair and a large beard. And he wore some white royal robes that almost resembled a lab coat.

As Mason stood around the castle entrance courtyard. Having a bar of sea salt ice cream in his hands. He walked with two bodyguards as he saw the carriage come up.

Clive came out of the carriage and he was lead up to Mason. Clive gave a respectful bow.

"You wished to see me, Your Grace?" Clive asked in greeting.

"Ah, yes. Of course." Mason said with a nod. "I was just informed that your newborn brother, Joshua of Rosario, has been chosen as the new Dominant of the Phoenix."

"Yes. I wasn't sure if word got out already. My father has been strict about keeping this news within the walls." Clive replied.

"Well, you may rest at ease. I assure you that I am the only one who received this news." Mason said reassuringly.

"My father told you?" Clive asked curiously.

"Actually, your father informed President Mickey, who in turn, told me." Mason said.

Given that Mickey Mouse was on good terms with the Kingdom of Rosaria as well as Sanbreque and Radiant Garden. He receives all news from those towns. And keeps his old friend Mason The Wise informed at all times.

"I am selected to be Yoshua's personal Shield when he is of age." Clive said as he smiled a little.

A 'Shield' is honorable title. It is someone who notnonly protects a king or an air to the thrown. But Shield is a section in command to is the first to be in charge over an army and troops. Clive's name will be glorious when that time comes.

"That is quite the honor. I believe you yourself are also destined for greatness." Mason said with a smile. "With that said, I was hoping to ask you for a small request."

"Anything." Clive asked.

Mason took out a red envelope and held it out to Clive.

"If it would not be too much trouble, I was hoping you could see to this being delivered to my sister, Sarah, who lives in Rosaria?" Mason asked.

"I know her. She's the head handmaiden of castle Rosaria." Clive answered as he received the letter.

"I must also request that you keep this letter confidential. Do not tell anyone about this." Mason said with a firm look.

"You have my word. No one else will know about this." Clive assured.

As they were concluding their meeting. Clive had no idea Barnabas was listening in with a resentful look. Barnabas was destined to just be a King's common distant relative. Despite all the education and hard work he puts down.

While Clive gets everything good handed to him. And he doesn't even have to try. Or work for anything in his life. And now Clove is accepting a job for extra credit.

When Clive came back to Barnabas his friend ask Clive what was the meeting about. And he told Barnabas that it was nothing important.

Well it's not until later.

Later on that evening in Rosaria...

Down near the woods of Rosaria. There was a beautiful oasis and a lake. With flowers of different colors of red. Blue and purple flowing across in different patterns around a field of grass. With the best shade of green. And the lake came with a water fall.

And out there was Lady Jill Warrick. The daughter of the castle's librarian. And she is Clive's beloved. Sitting by the water.

Wearing a white dress which resembles a maiden. With a black vest underneath with a turquoise dress harness around the waist and matching armbands on the forearms.

Normally she would wear a pair of black lady boots, but currently she was dipping her bare feet into the warm lake water.

Watching as her pet was running around playing. A puppy snow husky which resembles a gray wolf with blend of gray and white and yellow eyes. The little cute dog was named Torgal.

As Clive rode up on his white Chocobo named Ambrosia.

Chocobos were the second type of animals to ride next to horses in this world. They resemble the body of an ostrich. But with the face of an eagle. And they have this adorable cooing noise. Like if a dolphin could meow like a cat.

But anyway. Clive got off his ride and Torgal had this cute bark as he happily panted and ran up to Clive. Clive chuckled and bent down to catch him as Torgal licked his face in greeting.

"Hello there, Torgal. Are you keeping the border safe? Yeah?" Clive greeted with a sweet tone as he rubbed the puppy in a way that made him pant and roll around.

Jill giggled at the sight as she walked over. And Clive saw her and placed Torgal down who was panting happily up at them.

"Did you miss me?" Clive asked.

"You've only been gone for half a day…..And it was agonizing." Jill cooed softly as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Well I'm here now." Clive whispered as he leaned in and kissed her passionately. "Wanna go for a swim?"

Torgal whined as he ran off hearing that.

"Wait where's Torgal going?" Clive asked looking confused.

'I taught him to run home whenever we decide to go swimming." Jill said with a sexy smirk and eye wink. "Just so we could have as much privacy as possible."

"You are so good to me." Clive chuckled as he began to take his clothes off. All of them.

Jill giggled as she stripped all of her clothes off to stand completely naked before her love.

"I will always be good to you." Jill said softly and seductively as she pressed her naked body against his.

On that note. He kissed her more passionately. Practically feeling her cleavage against his bare chest and muscles. They both gave into each others' lust and passion.

And they both dove into yhe lake to swim in their birthday suits together. As they swam further down into the lake. And swam behind the waterfall. To find a safe quiet spot. They found a smooth area with a boulder to lean against. Inside of a small cave behind the waterfall.

And they made love.

An hour later...

It was almost nightfall. When they built a campfire by the lake. While they were still naked. And yet they felt warm around this area. And Jill rested in Clive's strong arms.

"How do you feel?" Clive asked as he stroked her damp light gray hair.

"I feel amazing." Jill said blissfully, looking at Clive with a warm smile. "How do you feel?"

"Incredible. And it's just about to become better." Clive smiled down at her.

Jill lightly gasped as she caught on to that hint. He's about to propose to him.

"Yes." Jill said softly with tears of joy in her eyes. "Oh God, yes."

"I haven't said anything yet." Clive chuckled as he wiped her tears.

"You don't need to. I know you." Jill said lovingly before kissing him.

"Mmmmm...I don't even have a ring to present yet." Clive whispered as he kissed her back.

Jill knew Clive doesn't have the means to afford a ring. Especially since his father and his step-mother holds all the money.

"Mmmmmmm…..It's okay. I don't need one." Jill said some as they continued to kiss.

Jill then took a piece of string fabric from her dress that was folded on the ground. And she looped it around her left ring finger.

"What's that?" Clive asked.

"This will be my ring. The symbol of our love." Jill said, holding up her hand. "And it will never come off. No power in Valisthea can ever remove it."

Clive gently held her hand and kissed the ring tenderly while looking at her. "I love you, Jill Warrick."

"I love you too, Clive Rosfield." Jill said with a loving smile.

And then they kissed some more as the night was closing in. And their love was sealed. It was as if nothing could get in the way.

No matter what happens. Their love is eternal. And it will never change.

The next morning down in Waloed...

Near the harbor in Waloed. Barnabas sat at a pub table by himself. As he was drinking some whisky out of a glass. Trying to drink his frustration away.

When suddenly some elderly woman with pale skin and in a black robe came over.

"Excuse me." The hooded woman said, grabbing Barnabas' attention. "May I join you for a drink?"

Barnabas didn't say a word as he just waved it off with a gesture that read 'knock yourself out'. So the hooded woman took a seat. As she poured herself a glass from his bottle. And made her move to tempt him. The woman had a British-like accent. Similar to everyone else. But only this mysterious woman sounded quite much on the 'Liverpool' side.

"So. Mr Tharmr. You may not know me, but I can tell that you're thinking hard. And I can guess what's on your mind. How in the world did you ever end up with a self-righteous pots like Rosfield as your best friend?"

Barnabas rolled his eyes as he took another shot of his drink. "He claims to be my friend. And yet he has the audacity to keep secrets for me." Barnabas sneered as he was huffing to try and keep his anger in check.

More like envious frustration.

"Well. Secrets are not for free. And they do tend to come with a heavy cost. With that said. What if I told you...I've got your answer?" The woman leaned forward. Revealing herself to be Zhan Tiri in her human form.

Barnabas looked at her and was interested, especially with getting one over with Clive Rosfield. "Keep talking." Barnabas replied.

Which of course made Zhan Tiri smile sinisterly.

Down in Rosalith Castle...

This place known as Rosalith Castle was the main castle of Rosaria. One of the most noble and prosperous cities in all of Valisthea.

And inside the throne room which as built out of smooth stone. Was the first leader, Dutchess Anabella, who back then wore a purple and white dress. And who would soon be crowned Queen now that she has a full blooded heir and a husband.

And her spouse, Archduke Elwin. A mature looking man with medium-length black hair and blue eyes. His bangs are sharply parted, and he has a goatee. He wears a red coat decorated with Rosarian emblems, with black sleeves and segmented coattails that nearly reach the ground, and had a thick, black belt around his waist. Underneath his coat, he wears a chainmail vest, and wears white gloves with black fingers.

Coming down from the corner steps was Elwin's firstborn Clive. Who looked fully prepared for the day. As he came up and gave his parents a respectful bow.

"Clive? You seem more prepared as if a parade is in town. What is the occasion?" Elwin asked with a smile.

"Nothing too major. I'm spending the day with Jill." Clive said with a little excitement.

Don't you have fencing practice with Commander Murdoch today?" Anabella asked sternly with narrowed eyes.

"It can wait. Commander Murdoch will be here another day as always." Clive waved it off.

"Young Man. It's not wise to-" Anabella almost scolded.

"You go on ahead, Clive. I'll put in a good word to the Lord Commander. But that means you'll be practicing much harder tomorrow. Understood." Elwin gave permission with a stern look which also had a grin.

"Yes Father. Thank you." Clive nodded and smiled as they shared a look.

He and his father always got along. But Anabella...Well at leaet she tries.

After that. Clive walked out. And the moment he left. It gave Anabella and Elwin a moment to talk.

"We've talked about this before." Anabella spoke up.

"And as I've stated. You must go easy on him." Elwin replied.

"Need I remind you that it's my job, as head of Rosaria, to keep him in check?" Anabella stated with narrowed eyes. "If that boy is going to carry a title of Responsibility someday, then he needs to learn to be responsible."

"And so far he is improving. Need I remind you of the life we had at sea. I failed to educate him because we were both survivors. And I did the best I could to make sure that he didn't grow up as miserable as I was. I can't put him through the same harship." Elwin spoke back with a fierce look.

Anabella glared back before letting out a sigh, her expression softening slightly.

"I know that. And I'm trying. Believe me, I would love nothing more than to his mother just like I am with Joshua." Anabella said softly. "But Valisthea can be very cruel on those who are not prepared. And they can take advantage of the uneducated. If he's not careful, not even his crown can protect him."

Elwin understood this as well. And if he had more time as he thought he did at the moment. He would've decided to be more consistent with Clive.

But unfortunately there was already a mysterious hooded figure that worked for Zhan Tiri already in the castle. A soon-to-be Syndicate XIII member that was sneaking into the kitchen. With a bottle of poison.

A poison with Elwin's name on it.

Later on at Jill's house...

Clive had spent the entire day with his date with Jill. Going to the park. The theater. Shopping at the mall...What? They're not savages!

And of course playing with Torgalm especially with a lake full of baby ducklings. And at the end of the day. Clive was in a nice house owned by Jill's parents. Where her mother who was a beautiful blonde woman named Ellen Warrick, who in a purple dress. And her father, Joel Warrick. Who was a gentleman in a black librarian suit.

As they all sat down to have dinner. They were sharing a few laughs. While the puppy Torgal was down below having his dinner in a doggy dish.

"So. I hear. That my daughter has chosen a certain someone who is flawed but more than worthy, to ask for her hand in marriage." Joel grinned as he gave Jill and Clive a knowing look.

"Yes, yes he did." Jill said all giddy.

"I haven't told my father yet. But he's always been supportive of me and Jill." Clive smiled.

"Well, I'm sure he will be thrilled." Joel said, raising a glass. "A toast to your goodwill and fortune. And may you have a long happy life together."

"And the best years to come." Ellen toasted as well.

And they all clinged their glasses. "The best anyone could ever ask for." Clive smiled at Jill as she giggled and they shared a kiss.

But as far as happiness is. If you're not careful. It can be taken away. Because cruelty can be creative if given the opportunity.

Just as they were about to continue their meal. Several guards from Waloed. The Kingdom that out ranks Rosaria came in.

"Which one of you is Clive Rosfield?" The lead Guard asked sternly.

"That's me." Clive said as he stood up. "What can I do for you?"

"Clive Rosfield. You're under arrest by order of the Magistrate of Waloed." The lead Guard declared.

Much to everyone's shock

"Arrest?" Ellen gasped.

"On what charges?" Clive asked in alarm.

"That information is privileged. Take him." The lead Guard replied and ordered his guards.

"I demand and explanation. As a member of the Rosarian house I demand an explanation!" Clive exclaimed as they took hold of him and dragged him out.

"Clive! Clive!" Jill cried out to her fiance in despair at seeing being arrested. "Let him go! Please!"

"I'll be back Jill! I promise, this is all just a mistake!" Clive called out to him.

"Unhand him!" Ellen yelled.

"He is our Prince!" Joel protested.

"Of a kingdom that ours outranks." The lead Guard replied as they left.

And that would be the last time Jill and Clive ever saw each other. For this matter wouldn't blow over as easily as he thought.

Later that night at the Chief Magistrate's office...

Down in Waloed. Clive was taken and seated inside the fancy grim themed office of Gibson Clarion. The Chief Magistrate of Waloed. Who sat at his desk and chair to face Clive who or course looked anxious but trying to remain calm.

"Well I must say, Rosfield. You don't have the look of a traitor." The Magistrate stated.

"Traitor?" Clive asked looking confused.

"No. But tell me well, Rosfield for your life may depend on it. Did you have any personal contact with Mason The Wise when you were in Radiant Garden?" The Magistrate asked.

"Radiant gard- yes I was. And well, I was with the young Barnabas Tharmr, most of the time. Do you know him?" Clive answered nervously and honestly.

"Yes we are well acquainted." The Magistrate answered.

"Well, there you go. He can vouch for me." Clive said with some relief.

"The letter he told you to deliver to his relative in Rosaria." The Magistrate held up the read envelope with the letter inside unsealed. "Are you aware that it is an order to assassinate the King of Waloed?"

Clive's eyes widened in shock.

"I wasn't aware! I swear!" Clive confessed.

"And are you sure you didn't read it?" The Magistrate asked.

"I don't know how to read!" Clive confessed desperately.

"Hmmm...Of course. You're not someone who is clever enough to do this." The Magistrate grinned."Fear not, Mr Rosfield. This is all a misunderstanding."

"It is?" Clive asked with hope returning to his voice.

"Of course. You were just caught in the middle of a conspiracy. And I'm sure, the wise Mason has an explanation of his own." The Magistrate answered as he lit a candle. "One more question. Did you tell anyone else about the letter?"

"No, sir. I did not." Clive said.

"Good." The Magistrate smiled as he held the letter over a fire. And burned it before placing it on a metal disk for it to incinerate. "We can't be too careful. Would you like a ride home?"

"That would be nice. Thank you." Clive said politely.

"Of course. You have a good night, Mr Rosfield." The Magistrate bid him fairwell.

After Clive was lead out of the doors by the Magistrate's men. He was taken outside to a carriage. That had bars on the windows.

That's not a good sign.

Outside on the night and empty streets of Waloed. When Clive got in the back of a prison carriage. He wondered why as he was going in the other direction. And he saw the Magistrate standing outside with a smirk.

"Lord Magistrate? Lord Magistrate?!" Clive called out as the carriage started driving out by horse.

The drive took a short while as they drove out to a small prisoner ship towards the harbor. And when they arrived. Clive looked weary as he wasn't sure what this was about.

When the guards helped him off. He wondered what this was about.

"Where are you taking me?" Clive asked with a worried tone. "This is a mistake. I am allowed to go home."

"From now on, you're home will be a cell in the Chateau Γ‰pine." One of the guard snickered.

"No...NO!" Clive shout as he pushed the guards away and ran off into the direction of a horse that was parked.

"After him!" One of the guards shouted.

Clive managed to start riding off towards another direction to escape.

"Don't let him get away!" One of the guards shouted.

Clive rode off until he was sure he lost them. But he knew the guards would be able to track him down. He couldn't get home due to the guards that were stationed at the main gate and every other exit out of the city.

So he went to the one friend who could help. Or at least he thought he could help.

Down at Tharmr Mansion...

Down at the mansion of Barnabas Tharmr. Barnabas was looking at the chest board by the breakfast table. And was thinking about the fact that Clive and he always played a game of chest.

This last one they didn't get to finish because they would've been late for the last trip. But sadly they never will finish it.

"Barnabas!" He heard a voice yell as the doors were yanked over. "Barnabas you have to help me!"

"Clive? What's wrong?" Barnabas asked as he stood up wearing his dark brown night robes.

"I've been arrested for treason! When we were at Radiant Garden, Mason gave me a letter to give to his sister but he lied about it being a small favor!" Clive breathlessly explained. "I didn't tell you, because he made me promise not to tell anyone! He told me it was to a relative but he lied! That bastard lied to me! And now the authorities found out and they think I'm involved! I don't...I don't know what to do! The guards are on their way now!"

"Alright. It's alright, Clive. We just...We just have to think." Barnabas looked concerned as he was gesturing for Clive to follow him.

"I'm sorry. I hope you weren't just compromised. I just had nowhere else to go." Clive said with great concern. "I've got to get to my father. But they're guarding all exits out of the city."

"It's alright. My father is in Sanbreque being treated for an illness but I can help. How far back are the guards?" Barnabas asked as they walked towards one of the halls.

"Minutes." Clive answered desperately.

"Do you need money?" Barnabas asked.

"Yes." Clive said with a quick nod as he followed.

"Do you have a pistol?" Barnabas asked as he was walking towards a rack.

"Of course not." Clive answered.

"Good." Barnabas quickly pulled out a sword from the rack as he narrowed his eyes.

Much to Clive's shock and confusion.

"Come on, Barnaby we have no time-" Clive almost insisted as he walked over. But Barnaby gave a small slash at his shoulder. "Ah!"

Clive hissed and held his shoulder which had a cut in it.

"I saw Mason give you the letter." Barnabas stated as he held him at sword point.

And then it was beginning to dawn on Clive. Barnabas was the one who turned him in.

"It was you?!" Clive asked in shock.

"Oh it wasn't just me. Mason's subordinates are in on it too." Barnabas revealed.

"But...Why didn't you come to me first?" Clive asked.

"Why did you keep it a secret?! You were my friend, Clive!" Barnabas snapped.

"I told you I gave Mason my word! He lied to me!" Clive argued.

"I know, Clive! I read the letter!" Barnabas sarcastically replied.

As a moment of tension past. Only one thing was on Clive's mind.

"Why are you doing this?" Clive steadily asked.

"Oh...It's complicated." Barnabas sneered.

Clive took a moment to collected himself from this shock of betrayal. As he muttered the word 'complicated'. Then he bolted to clumsily grab a sword.

"Don't be ridiculous." Barnabas scoffed as he walked over.

And they both clashed. But Clive wasn't as skilled as Barnabas. So after a few clinging of their swords. He tripped and ran backwards towards the library where he was looking for a window.

But Barnabas walked causally as Clive went over to unlock a window.

"Get away from the windows. Don't make me cut off your hand!" Barnabas threatened as he slashed at Clive's hand that was pulling at the locks.

"Ah!" Clive retracted. And then he tried clashing his sword and tossing random objects at Barnabas.

But nothing worked. Soon Barnabas disarmed and took the sword. Clive was so desperate to get away. That he was willing to try any chances. Even run past Barnabas. Either way Clive was cornered and was about to have his life ruined. By the one friend who he never thought betrayal would be possible. Even in his worst nightmares.

"AAAAAH!" Clive screamed as he ran towards Barnabas. But then Barnabas slashed at his other shoulder and arm. Making Clive stagger as he looked hurt and angry.

"WHY?! IN GOD'S NAME WHY?!" Clive screamed as his voice broke.

"Because your the son of a clerk! And I'm not suppose to want to be you!" Barnabas answered with a scowl.

In other worlds. Envy. Jealousy. And resentment for Clive's past sucesses without any work to it all.

Clive never thought in a million years that his best friend of all people would turn on him like this. This isn't just Clive running from death. It's him running from a life in hell. And Barnabas is sending him there.

"Bring out the prisoner by order of the Magistrate!" The guards came in from the front and ordered.

"He's in here!" Barnabas called over as they narrowed their eyes at each other.

And as the guards came in and cuffed Clive's hands together. They were dragging him away when Barnabas came over.

"Hold a moment." Barnabas requested as he took the king's piece from the chess board. And slipped it into Clive's shirt pocket. As if to mean that it's checkmate.

"For remembering better days." Barnabas said as some sick way of giving Clive a small sense of comfort. But it did little to none. "Like I said. This wouldn't last forever."

And then on that note. Clive was being dragged out. And taken outside to br driven back to the boat to Chateau Γ‰pine. Where no good thing or fortunate future was coming.

Thus the betrayal was settling in.

Later the next day at the Magistrate's office…

Gibson Clarion walked into his office to speak with Lady Anabella who came in with tears and an angry look on her face.

"I'd take it you heard the news?" The Magistrate asked.

"My husband has died. Poisoned." Anabella muttered with anger in her face and eyes.

"Oh. I'm sorry to hear that." The Magistrate said in a dismissful tone.

"Save your apologies." Anabella spat out with venom in her voice. "I want my son back. I know he's innocent of the crimes in which he was accused."

"I'm afraid that's impossible. He's charged for treason by the King of Waloed." The Magistrate declared.

"What are you talking about?" Anabella asked as she looked taken back by this.

"You see...Duke Tharmr returned with word that the king has passed away from an illness. Though they won't disclose as to what that illness was...His Nephew Barnabas is going to assume the throne." The Magistrate stated.

"Then he can revoke the sentence! Clive and he are friends!" Anabella said firmly.

"Unfortunately...Clive tried to escape. And he was killed in action." The Magistrate lied with a solemn look.

Anabella's eyes widened as she took a step back in horror.

"No..." Anabella muttered in despair.

The first born son of her now late husband. This just can't be! she knows she's been hard on Clive. And she knows that she should've had better memories with him. At least given better memories. But he doesn't deserve this. And Anabella still left him like a son, even if she didn't displayed such affections. If only she had a chance.

"You have my deepest condolence. We take full responsibility for this mistake." The Magistrate gave a acting sad look.

"Save your pity because you feel no remorse." Anabella said with pure venom in her words before walking away, saying one last thing before leaving. "I promise you. You will burn in Hell for this."

And on that note. She walked out and slammed the door. Leaving a smirking Gibson Clarion behind. Because Barnabas is now the king. And because he followed this plan to the letter. His wages will increase. And his power will expand.

The dirt some people do for the right price.

Meanwhile at the Chateau Γ‰pine...

Clive had arrived the boat as he was being taken upstairs to the Warden's office. however, the warden is not the same warden that the Maveress and Lightning will bust years later. This was the original warden. The one Charles Auclair will soon take the place of.

This warden had a middle age look. With long black hair. And a shaven face with pale skin and brown eyes. And a sadistic look on his face.

"Greetings, Clive Rosfield. I am Armend Dormac. The Warden of Chateau Γ‰pine." He grinned.

Clive's clothes were warn out and his vest was gone. He was just left in a shirt that had tares and his pants and shoes. And his face looked sweaty as his eyes looked bloodshot. And he was exhausted and warn out. With a anxious expression.

"Please, sir. I know you must've heard this a lot! But I'm innocent." Clive pleaded desperately.

The Warden scoffed with a mocking smile. "Innocent. I know. I really do know." He chuckled.

"Are you mocking me?" Clive looked ridiculed.

"No, my dear Rosfield. I know perfectly well that you are innocent. Why else would you be here?" The Warden stated as he poured a glass of brew. "If you were truly guilty, there are a hundred prisons across the world where they would lock you away, but Chateau Γ‰pine is where they put the ones they're ashamed of."

Clive looked down as he felt abandoned. He wondered why didn't his father come to help him? Or his step mother. He had no idea his father is dead.

"Let's have a look at your quarters now, shall we?" The Warden gestured for the men to bring him as he lead Clive upstairs.

(Trigger Warning scene:)

And they took him inside of a empty stony cell. With the window too high to reach. And without a angle view of the sky. But on the front wall, Clive could see some words written in front of the wall. The letters carved into the wall.

These words were written by some past inmate. 'GOD WILL GIVE ME JUSTICE'.

"God will give me justice." The Warden scoffed as he stated. "People are always trying to motivate themselves. Or they keep calendars, but soon they lose interest or they die. There's a window. All I'm left with is a rather unsightly wall, I'm afraid. So I conceived of another way to help our prisoners keep track of time. Every year, on the anniversary of their imprisonment, we hurt them."

Clive's breathing stopped as the guards took his cuffed hands and tied a rope around the chains. And strung the rope up to hold his arms up. And they pulled his shirt up.

"Usually just a simple beating really. Although, on their first day here, in your case, today, I like to do something rather special." The Warden smirked as he received a bull whip from the guards.

And they even gave the Warden. a mystical branding iron that was hot with black heat. This was the 'special' thing the Warden does for their inmates' first day. The brand that separates those from the majority of Valisthean society.

A flogging and a branding. This Clive gasp in horror. These people are sadistic. They torment their inmates just to pass the time.

"And if you're thinking just now, 'why me, o God?' The answer is, God has nothing to do with it. In fact, God is never in Valisthea this time of year." The Warden scoffed as he got behind Clive and rolled up his own sleeves.

"G-God has everything to do with it." Clive said with a shaky, terrified tone. "He's everywhere. He sees everything."

The Warden smirked as he walked up to Clive in response. And faced him.

"All right. Let's make a bargain, shall we? You ask God for help, and I'll stop the moment he shows up." The Warden teasingly wagered. Before he went back behind Clive.

And as Clive was strung up with his bare back exposed. The Warden began to swing the whip.

*WHIP!*

"AAH!" Clive cried out in pain.

*WHIP!*

"AAAAH!" Clive grimaced as his voice would echo with esch strike being just as painful as the last. If not more.

*WHIP!*

"AAAAH!" Clive screamed as his voice echoed throughout the prison halls.

*WHIP!*

"AAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Clive screamed harder.

And it kept coming. Until after he was done. The Warden would eventually press the hot branding iron on Clive's left cheek. Thus making him cursed as a branded. An exile of society. It's bad enough to be born as a branded. But it feels worse to receive one.

*Fizzzzzz!*

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" Clive gave out a final blood curdling scream at this inconceivable burning.

Later on at the house of Warrick...

Jill was outside. Pacing back and forth as she waited for Anabella to return. She was told to wait for her when she returns with Clive or news about him. Even little Torgal was looking sad as he sat by the porch. Whining a little since he misses Clive as well.

Just then. Anabella arrived by her carriage. And perked it up front as she walked up to Jill with a grieving look. Jill braced herself.

"Where's Clive?" Jill asked, scared of the truth.

But she could tell by the look of Anabella's face. That the news was clear.

"I'm sorry, my Dear. But..." Anabella couldn't bring herself to say it.

Jill began to break down as she got on her knees and sobbed hard. As Anabella came over and held her in her arms. While tearing up with her.

"Nooo! This can't be!" Jill screamed and cried in Anabella's arms. "I loved him! More than life itself!"

Jill's mother and father came out and held Jill close while they were in a group hug. All trying to bring her whatever comfort they could. As impossible as it might be.

"Hoooooowl!" Little Torgal howled cutely like a wolf that's lost. Even he could tell.

This was truly a dark day in Rosaria.

Later on at the Chateau Γ‰pine...

Clive was on the floor in brown prison trousers and a matching ragged shirt. Which had blood at the back due to the fresh lashes. Clive was out cold from the pain he received. Especially from the extremely painful branding. Now he has the same mark on his left cheek, as all other branded people.

Clive remained unconscious until the bottom panel on the door opened and a dish filled with prison stew was placed in before it closed.

Which made Clive shot open as he ran to the door and slammed his hand on it. As if to knock on it.

"Hey! Hey come back! WHAT'S MY CRIME?! WHAT'S MY CRIME?!" Clive shouted as he sulked against the door. With no hope to get out. And no hope for a future. And a punishment which he doesn't deserve.

"I'M INNOCENT!" Clive cried out with tears.

Back in the present...

Rapunzel was hearing the story from Cid. Cid was told by Clive as well as some friends who heard from him. In fact Cid saw Clive's story due to some tech that were brought from space. A past of which Rapunzel will be aware of soon.

"After that day. Clive's name and memory dissappeared off of the face of Valisthea. All accept for Lady Anabella. And Clive's FiancΓ©." Cid stated as he huffed a bit of smoke.

"My God! I had no idea Clive suffered this much." Rapunzel muttered with a heartbroken voice. "I mean, I knew he went through a great ordeal. But I could never imagine it was to such an extent."

"Right?...Still. After this, about a year later. Barnabas came to Rosaria with an armada. Demanding that all of Rosaria would surrender and reject the name Rosfield. And for Anabella to surrender her son Joshua. Apparently Barnabas didn't want any blood relatives of Clive to exist." Cid said as he had a hard look. "And I was part of that armada."

"What?!" Rapunzel gasped in shock and horror. "You mean Joshua was murdered as a baby!?"

Cid scoffed. "Not exactly. I offered my letter of resignation. By sneaking into the castle. And helping the baby to escape. Anabella agreed for the little lad's safety. As she handed her child over to the Undying. A secret society that served the order of the Pheonix. To this day we have no idea where they went though." Cid stated. "But one thing is for sure. That boy is out there somewhere."

"I wonder if we'll ever meet him." Rapunzel asked as she pondered this.

"If we ever see the sky light up. And a fiery bird is up there blocking the sun. We'll know for sure." Cid remarked. Then he continued. "Back to the story..."

And then the story continued. As we go back to see how Clive endured.

Back then in the Chateau Γ‰pine...

Clive sat in his cell after carving around the letters of 'GOD WILL GIVE ME JUSTICE' on the wall. To make sure it doesn't rot away. When he dropped the stone and noticed a bird was perched at the window.

He didn't know how long it has been. But his face was growing a large beard. And he was looking at the bird with a suprised look of hope. And when the bird flew away he lost his of voice for a moment as he was gonna call for it to come back.

And then the doors opened as the Warden stepped in with his guards. Making Clive stagger backwards.

"Happy Anniversary Mr Rosfield." The Warden smirked.

Minutes later...

Clive screamed a little less this time. But this was still a painful experience as he was strung up.

*WHIP!*

"Ah!" Clive collapsed on the ground with fresh lashes on his back. Just over his old lash scars. And they walked out to leave him. This was at the Warden's word. What made this hard was that it let Clive know, that a year had past since he was thrown in here.

"Until next year." The Warden said before leaving him.

Later on...

Clive tied his shirt around his neck and looped it around a chain ring. Hoping to hanging himself as he pulled hard. But then. He saw the words. 'GOD WILL GIVE ME JUSTICE'. Though he could not read yet. He knew what they said. How can he be given justice among the dead?

So he cried out as he let go. And refuses to die. Though little hope he had. And absolutely nothing to do in an empty stone cell with no bed or objects of interest. He kept carving into the letters to keep it fresh.

Some years pass later...

*WHIP!...WHIP!*

"Has it really been four years Rosfield? Roseland? Uh...what was his name again?" The Warden asked as the whips kept coming.

At this point. They didn't care at all to remember who he was. Or his name. This definitely was much like hell. For this was a place where you suffer and are forgotten.

Soon Clive just sat by the corner with a lost and broken bearded face. With no hope. And no life. He even eventually stopped carving the letters. Because he could feel it.

Like as if God abandoned him.

During Clive's 6th year in Chateau Γ‰pine...

As Clive was eating and finishing up his prison meal. Something new happened in his cell. That he could hear. Below the stone floor. He could hear it from the side of the room. And ad a mound of dirt was rising he backed away in fear like a scared caveman. And saw something hairy rising. At first he thought it was a rat but it was too big. Then he thought it was a predator. Ready to devour him.

But as the head turned. He could see it was none of those things. It was instead an old man. An old man with a long white beard and hair. And he wad wearing the same brown ragged prison attire as him. And the old man also had the brand on his cheek.

This was an escaped inmate.

As the old man crawled out. He held his hand out to Clive.

"Forgive my intrusion. But I was under the impression that I...I was digging toward the outer wall." He spoke softly.

Clive didn't respond. For he hasn't had any human interaction for over six years. And he was in total vexed shock. As he was just hunched in a corner. Like a scared puppy. It didn't seem like he was going to talk. So the old man spoke up.

"I am Harpocrates. I have been a prisoner in chateau Γ‰pine for eleven years. Five which have been spent...Digging this tunnel." The old man said as he added a wueezing chuckle. He found it ironic that he found this cell.

Harpocrates didn't see it as an accident. Perhaps this was the hand of God. For them to meet.

"There are 72,519 stones in these walls." Clive whispered in a broken voice. "I've counted them many times."

"But have you named them yet?" Harpocrates remarked.

Which was another way for Clive to see that he hasn't totally lost it. Which he should after all the time he spent sitting in this cell. And yet it's another reminder to Clive that nothing will change.

And he's never getting his life back.

Clive began to break down in tears as he covered his face. His voice barely kept straight as he was crying.

"Shh...shh. Shh. Once I was as you are now. But I promise, it will pass. I promise, I promise." Harpocrates held his hand out and comforted. Before he requested. "Now, may I stand on your shoulders?"

Clive lookd at him with a confused look. He didn't know what that meant.

That is until a few minutes later when Harpocrates was standing on his shoulders while Clive was standing below the window. Harpocrates was in such awe and wonder as he looked out to see the blue sky. Something he hadn't seen in eleven years. Especially since his cell doesn't have a window.

"Oooh...Take me down. Take me down please." Harpocrates said with a shaky voice.

Clive grunted as he brought him down safely. And Harpocrates breathed with such splendor.

"I have not seen the sky these eleven years. Thank you. Thank you, God." Harpocrates breathed with praise on his lips.

"There is no talk of God in this place." Clive muttered bitterly.

"What about the... inscription?" Harpocrates pointed at the writing on the walls.

'GOD WILL GIVE ME JUSTICE'

"Those words have faded from the wall." Clive said bitterly. "Just as God has faded from my heart."

"And what has replaced him?" Harpocrates asked.

"... Revenge." Clive muttered, anger and rage in his eyes.

Harpocrates could simply just chuckle in response as he pulled out the loose stones on the ground from the hole he made. "Hold these." He said as he handed them to Clive. "Follow me."

Harpocrates started to go back into the large hole he made. "Perhaps your thoughts of revenge. Are serving God's purpose of keeping you alive all these years." He said while he crawled back through the hole.

"To what end?" Clive asked as he followed the old man through the hole.

"Escape." Harpocrates grinned as they kept going.

Soon Clive made it through the tunnel Harpocrates dug up which lead right into Harpocrates cell. And Clive couldn't believe what he was seeing.

A cell that seemed to have more room. And there was a table with books and two chairs. It not really much to be amazed about. But for Clive. Someone who had to sit in a empty cell for six years. With no one to talk to. Nothing to do. No sky to see. Nothing to pass the time except to sulk and get lost in thought.

To someone like Clive. This was amazing.

Clive even silently asked permission to sit in a chair which Harpocrates allowed. And when Clive sat down. He breathed like someone who hasn't breathed in years.

Harpocrates couldn't help but chuckle. The smaller things in life are often taken for granted.

Clive took his time to observed and walk around the cell. Until he looked at Harpocrates who was calculating his escape route plan.

"You spoke of escape." Clive said as he seemed interested.

"Yes. There are only two possibilities of reaching the outer wall... And finally the sea. I simply... I simply chose the wrong one." Harpocrates laughed at the last part while briefly pointing at the hole, then he explained. "Now, of course, with two of us, we could dig in the opposite direction. With both of us together, then, of course, we could possibly do it in, oh...I'd say, eight years."

Clive of course shook his head and chuckled which vaguely sounded like a scoff. He figured escape would happen now.

"Oh, does something else demand your time? Some pressing appointment, perhaps?" Harpocrates asked which was mild sarcasm. Then he said this. "In return... for your help, I offer something priceless."

"My freedom?" Clive sarcastically scoffed.

"No, freedom can be taken away, as you well know. I offer knowledge, everything I have learned. I will teach you, oh, economics, mathematics, philosophy, science." Harpocrates offered.

Which peeked Clive's interest. He flunked his education in life. Which is how he ended up here. But if Harpocrates seems to be an elder and educator. This can be his chance to improve. While he passes the years to escape.

Besides the old man is right. Freedom can be taken. But knowledge. Once it's given. It can't be taken away.

"To read and write?" Clive asked after some thought of interest.

"Of course." Harpocrates smiled as he was even skilled to teach the basic concepts.

Then Clive after giving some thought. Finally had a faint of a smile. The first one he gave after six years.

"When do we start?" Clive asked with hope returning to his eyes.

And at that moment. Clive and Harpocrates worked together to escape. While Harpocrates would take the rest of the time to educate Clive as the years passed.

Clive was given careful instructions from Harpocrates as they began. As the days passed they would start digging a new tunnel together. Which gave Harpocrates more progress because he had someone as strong, young and fast as Clive to help with his plan. But Clive would only have to head back into his cell twice a day as Harpocrates instructed.

"The door slot opens twice a day. Once for your toilet bucket, which is where we hide the dirt. And once in the evening for your plate. Between those times we can work all day without fear of discovery." Harpocrates instructed.

And so as the days. Weeks and months passed. Clive would remember to listen out for the men at the doors. And for Harpocrates to signal for him to crawl back into his cell. And Clive would hide the dirt from the tunnel they were digging. By placing it all into the toilet bucket. Since the guards tosses them out and replaces them. No one would ever know.

And the other time was for their food plate. Which they were fed prison stew for the evening. Just fed once a day. And yet Harpocrates would receive his only meal and would tell the guard "Thank you."

Not that the guard deserves it. But Harpocrates has a good heart.

At one point….

Clive used Harpocrates stone made trimming kit to shave his beard down and even fix his hair a bit. He would eat his meal while Harpocrates would draw on the wall statements for him to read.

"So...Neglect...Becomes...Our...Ally." Clive read on the wall as he ate.

"Exellent." Harpocrates praised his progress. Clive was really learning.

At one point...

When Clive and Harpocrates were digging thd tunnel underground, using spoons and whatever homemade tools chisel tools Harpocrates made from stone. Harpocrates past the time to tell his life story.

"So you were in the army of the Dhalmekian Republic?" Clive asked.

"I served Hugo Kupka's father, Gyro Kupka, back when he ruled as king. We had such dreams then. However, one night... My regiment ran down... A band of branded rebels, who ran into a church for sanctuary. I was ordered to burn... Down the church... With them inside it." Harpocrates told Clive as they were digging.

"Did you do it?" Clive asked with concern.

Harpocrates sighed as he admitted with guilt. "To my everlasting shame, I did...God forgive me, I did." He admitted.

Clive looked at him before continuing to work.

"How did you end up here?" Clive asked after a moment of silence.

"The following day I deserted...To devote my life to repentance...And to God. And so I fled to Waloed for refuge. Where I became a Priest to the city capital curch." Harpocrates smiled as they took a breather from their digging and crawled back around to dump the dirt.

And as they got out of the hole and into Harpocrates' cell. The old man continued his story.

"I worked as private secretary to...The enormously wealthy Count, named Enrique Spada. Spada was a righteous man. Sadly, a couple of years later. He died." Harpocrates stated as he dumped the dirt into his bucket.

Then they turned back to the tunnel to resume working. And he continues the story.

"Amidst rumors that he had hidden his limitless fortune. Two weeks later, I was arrested by the King of Waloed." Harpocrates told Clive.

"On what charge?" Clive asked.

"The King wanted Spada's treasure. He did not believe that I had no idea where it was. So he had me thrown in here to refresh my memory. And so here I've remained with only God..." Harpocrates sighed as they crawled back down into the tunnel to work. "For company until he sent me you."

"Oh please. God is no more real than your treasure is, Priest." Clive scoffed.

"Mmmm. Perhaps." Harpocrates grinned as they continued working.

Clive continued to have his doubts his luck turning in this cell being the hand of God. How can anyone believe in him when they feel abandoned by him?

But Harpocrates knew better. Men like he and Clive paved the way for this dark path to happen. And Harpocrates feels like he's paying for his crimes against those innocent Branded he killed. Thus he is now a Branded and a prisoner.

For Clive. He had people take advantage of him due to his lack of care for his education. If he had trained more in combat. And if he had spent nore time in studies. None of this would've happened to him.

Later on...

After Clive and Harpocrates caught a rat to eat. As a means to gain mest for protein and to give them more energy to work. Clive continued his studies as he dumped some more dirt out.

"Compute this. 2,500 cubic centimeters of rock and dust a day...For 365 days?" Harpocrates quizzed Clive as they were working.

"That equals... Three-and-a-half meters a year, or twelve feet." Clive answered. "Which means a foot a month, and three inches week."

"Very good. Now repeat this in the Kree language." Harpocrates smiled.

Which Clive definitely could do now. He studied the languages of other regions and other species.

Even later on...

WHIP!

As Clive was receiving his whipping for that year. He didn't wince or scream. But instead he was speaking math in the Kree language. While they continued the whipping.

Afterwards...

As Harpocrates was resting after his own whipping. He had his shirt off to let his skin air out.

While Clive sat there reading a book, while pondering something. He ended up here mainly because he didn't know how to use a sword. He couldn't beat Barnabas in combat. And that needed to change. especially since the last time he saw his father. He put off combat training.

"Don't waste the light." Harpocrates whispered as he gestured for Clive to put out the candle. Which he did.

But bow Clive needed to insist on a new lesson.

"You once told me you were a soldier. You know combat and weaponry." Clive said with an unwavering voice. "So teach me. Or dig alone."

Harpocrates sighed in response. He gave up his life of violence for the innocent people he killed. But he knew Clive was right. And he definitely needed Clive's help.

"You force me to walk a fine line, Rosfield." Harpocrates remarked.

And so he accepted these new terms. And he was going to teach Clive to fight. Not only to fight. But to fight better than most.

Later on...

There was a leek in the roof over by the corner of Harpocrates' cell. And here was Clive's first lesson. Was to pass his hand through the drips without getting his hand wet.

"This is ridiculous." Clive deadpanned.

"Ah ah. That's where you're wrong. The stronger swordsman does not necessarily win." Harpocrates smirked as he thrusted his hand through the drips without getting wet a few times. And with perfect precision and stamina. "It is speed! Speed of hand! Speed of mind. Now...Sweep your hand through the drops... Without getting wet. Like so."

Clive sighed before trying again. But his hand got wet again.

"Oh come on." Clive muttered in frustration.

As time passed...

Harpocrates went over to the wooden cell door and tore teo long sticks out to be used as swords. And they used them for fencing pratice and sword combat.

Harpocrates taught Clive how to Perry. How to dodge. To deliver combos. Clive had to get hit a few times. And knocked down many times. But as the months passed. His combat and skills became better and better.

And soon as they were in the middle of their studies. Harpocrates figured it was time for Clive to use his knowledge that the old man gave him to figure out he was tricked. And he was betrayed.

As they sat at the table with books. Harpocrates began his next lesson.

"Define economics, Clive." Harpocrates quizzed.

"Economics. It's the science that deals with the production, distribution and consumption of commodities." Clive answered.

"And translation?" Harpocrates grinned.

"Dig first. Money later." Clive grinned back.

"Very good. You really are a fast learner." Harpocrates said with a hearty laugh.

Later on…..

Clive's skills became so much better. That he could fling his hand through the water drips from the leak. Without getting it wet now.

And then during combat training. He disarmed Harpocrates training stick and trip him down.

"Ah...Good!" Harpocrates praised as he was flat on the ground and laughed. "Hahaha! Very good! Who we are fighting before? Some pirates? Maybe Tharmr?"

"What do you think?" Clive remarked as he helped the old man up.

Later on...

During one of Clive's studies. Harpocrates knew Clive was ready to figure out why he was betrayed and how.

"According to a history. There was a planet known as Terra, to the natives it's known as Earth. And from the Holy Empire of Sanbreque. A group of humans from a colony of Earth centuries ago. Came in from a mystical gateway opened by the mother crystal." Harpocrates quizzed.

"A crystal of great power and an unknown origin. To which provided those of first in the royal and noble bloodline of every kingdom the blessing and title of the Dominants." Clive answered.

"Right. And the Eikons who are creatures of great power. Laid dormant between our realms. And can only be awoken by the heart of a Dominant. When called upon. The Dominants become the Eikons." Harpocrates stated.

"Where did they come from originally?" Clive asked.

"Before the Great War. When the Multiverse was one. They served as Guardians of balance. But when Darkness and Light clashed. They reserve themselves in between our realms. To ensure their power wouldn't cause any further damage. They only come when the situation demands it. Thus the Dominants are chosen to call for such a situation." Harpocrates answered.

"I see." Clive nodded in understanding.

"So this colony of Terrans. Or humans as we are really called. They spread out and populated the world of Valisthea. Forming the Kingdoms and civilization we now know of today." Harpocrates smiled.

"And we always wondered how we ever got to this point." Clive sighed as he looked down in thought.

Ah. There is something to that I wish to add. There was a man back on Terra, in history known as Isaac Newton. He once stated 'For every action, there is a reaction'." Harpocrates demonstrated by smashing two stones together to watch on top all over. "Which Applies to both physics and man."

"And thus my revenge is the reaction of Barnabas Tharmr and Mason the Wise." Clive said in understanding.

Harpocrates nodded and continued. "You once told me that the Magistrate had you rearrested just after...He had cleared you of all the charges." He reminded.

"That's right. He did." Clive said with anger in his voice.

"Then why would he go through that charade...Unless he had reason to change his mind about letting you go? Think Clive." Harpocrates persisted.

"I'm trying." Clive said in frustration as Harpocrates words were sinking in.

"What else happened?" Harpocrates asked.

"The Magistrate read the letter before letting me go, and he asked me if I knew about the letter's contents. If I've ever read it. And if I told anyone else about it." Clive muttered as he recalled what happened.

"And then? After you said you didn't?" Harpocrates asked.

"Nothing. He just burnt the letter to settle the matter." Clive said.

Clive waved it off but Harpocrates figured it out already. Just from that detail.

"Ah...He burned...The letter. And after reading it. Strange that a chief magistrate would burn evidence...Of a treasonous conspiracy...And then imprison the only man...Who was aware of The Magistrate's connection...To that conspiracy." Harpocrates smiled as he realized.

"What... What are you saying?" Clive asked hesitantly.

"You should know...I knew Mason the Wise well at one point. He...Had a student whom he expelled. Because she tried to used Mason's knowledge and experiments for her own personal gain that would've compromised our world." Harpocrates revealed. "The name of the student was Zhan Tiri. Whom secretly was a cruel. Devious and wicked witch."

"A witch?" Clive asked in surprise. "Are you serious?"

"I am." Harpocrates nodded.

When Lord Demanitus banished Zhan Tiri through machine he built in Corona. She wasn't banished to a nether world. But she was banished here. And she used her witch craft spells to make herself look younger and pass off as a honorable student to Mason The Wise who accepted her for a time.

Orion told Rapunzel this story.

"Also you said that Hugo Kupka took the throne of Dhelmekia. What you don't know is that he was a student who abandoned his teacher and studies." Harpocrates stated and revealed as he asked. "Who's to say Zhan Tiri and Hugo were not in league."

Clive's eyes widened in horror as understanding took hold.

"They switched the letters... And framed Mason the Wise." Clive whispered in horror.

Harpocrates smiled as Clive was figuring it out. And then Clive began to realize. That Barnabas brought into this whole ordeal to benefit his vendetta.

If he had the real letter. Clive wouldn't be in here.

Clive flaired his face in anger as he screamed and threw the table over. "Raaagh!"

Then Clive huffed as he realized. "The Magistrate was brought in too! He made a deal with Zhan Tiri to tie up all loose ends in exchange for a higher wage in his position! Which was provided by Barnabas who told both Zhan Tiri and Gibson Clarion that I HAD IT!" He bellowed in realization.

"Bravo, Rosfield. Bravo." Harpocrates smiled while clapping.

Clive of course was too angry to find out. That he was just a loose end to everyone. But to his best friend. He was a source of jealousy. He has suffered because he was just in the way.

"AAAAAAAAHHHH!" Clive screamed in frustration as reality sunk in.

Later on...

As Clive woke up from the floor of his cell. He had the king chess piece in his hand. The one Barnabas gave him. As he pondered how did he ever value someone like him. And ever considered him a friend. Someone who would betray him like this.

One thing's for sure. Barnabas will be the last to suffer as Clive has.

After that...

Clive and Harpocrates were digging in the tunnel. Which to this date was about seven years since they started. And thirteen years since Clive was thrown in the Chateau Γ‰pine. And eighteen since Harpocrates was thrown in here as well.

Suddenly as they were chiseling. Harpocrates found something in the dirt.

"Oh...Oh my God. Clive quick! Quickly pass me the light!" Harpocrates gasped joyfully.

"Here." Clive said, giving Harpocrates the candle. "What is it?"

"Look. Look! Roots. Plant roots." Harpocrates shined the light one some roots of plants on the dirt ceiling in the tunnel. "If these are plant roots, then we are only months away."

"Yes! Hahaha!" Clive exclaimed joyfully as he and Harpocrates embraced happily. "We're almost free!"

"Indeed my friend!" Harpocrates chuckled as they finished their hug.

"I'll go get another chisel." Clive said as he nearly rushed out.

But then as Clive noticed. The rumbling from above them. This wasn't a sign of someone walking at the floor above like a few years before. But rather this wasn't a good sign. And he looked back to see Harpocrates chiseling at the dirt and rocky foundation. And some dirt was beginning to fall around Harpocrates.

Much to Clive's horror.

"PRIEST! LOOK OUT!" Clive cried out to his friend.

But unfortunately it was too late. As Harpocrates tried to back out. Some of the dirt. In fact a large amount with rocks. Crashed on top of him.

*COLLASP!*

"PRIEST! ARE YOU OKAY?! SPEAK TO ME!" Clive shouted as he anxiously dug Harpocrates out of the dirt.

As soon as Clive dug Harpocrates out of the dirt. He quickly brought the old man back over to his bunk in the cell and laid him down.

Harpocrates was covered in bruises as well as dirt. He was having trouble breathing his Clive grip his hand with tears in his eyes.

"Lungs...My Lungs are punctured." Harpocrates wueezed as he could feel he was dying. A punctured lung is bad for a man, his age.

Bad for anyone's age.

"Don't speak. Just try to breathe." Clive insisted.

"Listen. There's not much time. Under th-those books, there's loose rocks. Bring me what you find." Harpocrates crooned as he pointed at some loose stone panels on the floor in the left corner.

Clive moved quickly and grabbed the brown book from the hiding place Harpocrates pointed before rushing back to the dying man.

"Okay. Here it is. Now what?" Clive asked desperately to his fading friend.

"Open it." Harpocrates instructed.

And Clive opened the book to find a small sack that had a rolled up sheet of paper with a map on it.

"When I told them I did not know...Where the treasure of Spada was, I lied." Harpocrates confessed.

"You lied?" Clive's eyes widened.

"I'm a priest. Not a saint." Harpocrates remarked with a weak voice.

"What are you talking about? Are you saying... The treasure is real?" Clive asked in shock. "Why... Why are you telling me this now?"

"Because this can help you find it. Use... use your head. Follow the clues." Harpocrates carefully instructed.

"But the tunnel is blocked now! We can't get out!" Clive exclaimed.

"No, keep digging. When you escape, use the treasure for good, only for good." Harpocrates instructed.

"No, I will surely use it for my revenge." Clive protested.

"Here now is your final lesson. Do not commit...Oh. Do not commit the crime... For which you now serve the sentence. God said, 'vengeance is mine'." Harpocrates stated his final wisdom as he pointed at Clive.

"But... I don't believe in God." Clive said with a quivering voice, tears falling from his eyes.

Harpocrates smiled tenderly at him with his eyes weak. "That doesn't matter. He believes in you..." He exhaled. And then at that moment. He was limp. And his chest didn't rise.

"Priest?" Clive calls to him softly with a broken voice as tears fell from his eyes. "Priest?"

But there was no response. Clive had officially lost the only friend he has in this Godforsaken prison. The only one he had human contact with all these years.

But before he had time to mourn some more. He heard the food guard coming. So he ran to the tunnel to his cell and hid with the map.

As the food guard opened the bottom hatch. The guard didn't see the plate.

"Come on, Old Man! Supper Time!" The guard called!

So then when they didn't get a response. The supper guard and another came in. And looked down to see Harpocrates dead. And they sighed.

"First time in years since he stopped saying 'thank you'...Oh well." The food guard shrugged sadly.

As if they really cared. The best of these sadistic assholes ability at least.

"Let's get em ready." The other guard said.

As soon as they took a body sack and wrapped it around Harpocrates body. They left to go inform the Warden, Armend Dormac.

As soon as the guards closed and locked the door.

One of them asked. "Why lock it?"

"A habbit I guess." The other shrugged.

As soon as they were gone. Clive got up and tested the door and much to his frustration it was locked. But then he sighed and looked back at the body sack.

Clive went over and opened it up enough to see Harpocrates face. As he tearfully closed the old man's eyes. Clive figured whatever hope he had died with Harpocrates. Which was fine with him. Je was glad to have it. Even if the rest of his life is over now.

"Goodbye, old friend. May you taste the sweet air of freedom. As I wish I could but..." Clive whispered in a broken voice before he was struck with a crazy idea that made his eyes widen. "Would that even work?"

Clive came up with a quick but clever plan of escape. He knew this was only one shot. But he had to act now. So Clive began to untie Priest from the bodybag for this plan to go in motion.

A few moments later...

Warden Armend Dormac came into the cell with a torch. And several of his men. As he sighed with a uncaring look at the bodybag.

"So the old pope has finally gone to St. Peter's." The Warden scoffed. "Come on. Bring him along."

"Yes, sir." One guard said before telling another guard. "You grab the bottom. I'll grab the top."

"Oh come on. Why do I always get stuck with the legs?" The second guard complained as he and the first guard moved to pick up the body bag and follow the Warden out of the cell with the other guards.

As they were carrying out their business. The Warden planned to do this ceremonious tradition of having the body of a dead inmate Harold it's the ocean from the cliffs outside the prison.

And as they were walking down the halls. The Warden couldn't help but speak. "Come on, come on. I haven't got all day. Actually, I do." The Warden joked and laughed with his men. "Hahahaha! I've got... I've got all the time in the world! Hahahahahaha!"

Yeah you wish.

Meanwhile in Clive's cell. The food guard was about to give his meal in the cell. Until he saw that the bowl wasn't there.

"Roswith! Supper!" The guard called as he got Clive's last name wrong.

But no answer.

So the guard opened the cell and looked inside as he was confused to see a large hole in the ground. And Clive laying with his back to the guard. So when the Guard came over and turned Clive around.

He was shocked to see it wasn't Clive. It was Harpocrates! His body was left in here! And Clive was inside the bodybag they were going to toss.

"MISTER DORMAC!" The guard shouted as he started to run out.

The food guard however wasn't quick enough because they had made it to the cliffs. And the Warden was going to have them toss the body as they stood and he gave a lazy prayer of departure. As accustomed by the Warden of any prison in Valisthea.

"Heavenly father, we bequeath to you...These remains of your humble servant...Whatever his name was." The Warden stated and groaned as he rolled his eyes. "God, I'm so bored. Just toss it."

The guards nodded as they began to swing the bodybag. "On three." One of them said.

"MISTER DORMAC!" They could faintly hear but they all ignored it.

"Did he infact, have a map?" The Warden asked one of them.

"No Sir." One of the guards answered.

"Then where is..." The Warden wondered.

"MISTER DORMAC!" The food guard ran outside.

"What?!" The Warden snapped in annoyance.

"DON'T TOSS THE BAG!" The food guard shouted.

But it was too late as they tossed the bag. Clive reached out and took the Warden's keys. Which were still attached to yhe Warden's belt. Causing Warden Armend Dormac to fall into the water down below the cliffs with Clive.

Once they fell into the water. Clive used the keys to quickly unhook the chain locks the on the bag. The guards had placed these chains on after bringing the bag outside. So Clive acted quickly and got loose to swim up and inhale some air from the surface.

Clive then saw the Warden panicking as he tried to swim back up. But Clive knowing it's a risk to keep him alive. Decide to start his payback with him. As he swam over and grabbed the Warden by the neck. And snap it.

*Crack!*

Thus Warden Armend Dormac was dead. And Clive swam in the opposite direction from the prison. Swimming out from across the ocean.

The guards up above watched as they all felt like idiots.

"That could've worked out better." One of them could only say.

The next morning at the beach of the southern regions of Waloed...

On the beach, as the sun shined over the sky. Clive slowly came to while he was face down into the ground. He grabbed something wet and smooth. And he raised himself up and looked at his right hand, holding wet sand, as realization slowly came to him.

He rolled over to sit up and looked on across the water towards his former prison, far in the distance. Far from the place that stole his life. Finally, after thirteen years

He was Free.

"Thank you, Priest." Clive muttered with a choked up voice, giving thanks to the man who helped him escape. "Thank you."

Slowly, Clive rose to his feet as a smile began to grace his face, pure joy filling him. And he felt the need to run and feel the freedom. He hadn't ran in years.

"HAHAHAHAHA HAAAAAAAAHAHA!" Clive laughed with joy as he ran along the shore, rolling around the sand for a moment before running again, enjoying his freedom again, basking in the fresh air and open clear blue skies. "WOOOOOOOOO! WOOOOOOHOOOOOO WOOOOOOO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!"

As he continued running about, he slowly noticed several people watching from the upper parts of the beach, all wearing red Ravagers Uniforms.

This men were all in different forms and skin tones. With some that looked human. And their leather was a Ravager captain with blue skin and a bold head with the exception of a red fin device on his head. The blue guy appeared to be Centaurian by species. And he had a smug smile with a full set of teeth. Some with gold false teeth inside.

This was Yondu Udonta. The Captain of a clan of Ravagers.

After that moment….

They invited Clive over to sit with them by the fire. As Yondu handed Clive a bottle of something sweet and alcoholic.

"I'd ask where ya came from. But given that the Chateau Γ‰pine is two miles out and those rags you're wearin. I ain't gotta guess." Yondu remarked as he held his hand out. "Captain Yondu Udonta."

Yondu had a western accent. Like a cowboy or a outlaw. Or both.

Clive hesitated for a moment before taking Yondu's hand.

"Clive Rosfield." Clive said as he shook his hand.

"You don't need to worry bout us turnin y'all in. They ain't got a bounty on your head." Yondu snickered as he asked while drinking. "So now that you've flown the coup. Where ya headed?"

"Honestly? I'm not sure where to start yet." Clive said honestly. "I do have plans, though."

"Well. Since ya got time. Before ya'll plans start. Mind helpin us take care of a little dump job?" Yondu grinned as he stood up.

"What exactly are you asking me to do?" Clive asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I had a little mutt who used to work for us till last night. When he stole some units from a merchant sellin lemon ships on Knowhere, and refused to share with the rest of us." Yondu scoffed as he snapped his fingers and signaled for two of his Ravager troops to come out of the cave behind.

And they came over with a human Ravager who had his hands cuffed in front.

This Ravager was a young man with light Caucasian skin, slicked back blond hair, which he tied into small pony tails at the nape of his neck. He had green eyes and light facial hair. His attire consists of light red leather armor to aid with his scouting operations and a moogle charm around his neck.

This guy was named Gav.

"Gav here was supposed to die here in his home planet. But he got some loyal friends who are whining and asking that we grant him mercy. Which I can't afford. Could lose morale." Yondu said as he stared down at Gav who was on his knees with a grimace of his own. Then Yondu smirked at Gav. "Which is why I think we're all lucky we found you."

"Are you asking me to kill this man for you?" Clive asked.

"Hell no! That'd be barbaric! We only ask that you fight this man to the death. If he wins he'll get welcomed back in, but if you win. You can hitch a ride with us, with an invitation to join my crew." Yondu clarified an offered.

Clive looked at Gav before smirking at Yondu.

"Alright. I'll accept your offer, as long as I use a knife for the fight." Clive said.

Yondu smirked as he handed Clive a knife. "Deal." Yondu said as he walked back and everyone gave them room to fight outside. "But just a heads up. Gav is the best knife hand we got. At least one with hair."

Gav was uncuffed and handed a knife as he got up and got ready to fight. Since he was a Ravager and fully trained. He had confidence that he would win.

While Clive was fully trained by the best fighter around. And he remembered. It's not always about strength, but speed. So as Clive and Gav stood in a fighting stance. The fight started and Gav ran in for a forward slash which Clive dodged.

Gav spun for another slash but Clive swerved back. Then as Gav thrusted his knife. Clive grabbed his arm and flipped Gav over and he pented Gav down with his knife raised. And the Ravagers cheered for Clive as he won the fight.

And he had a right to kill Gav. But Clive slammed the knife down next to Gav's head making Gav gasp as he could've swarn he was dead there. But Clive was sparing him.

Then Clive rose up and called out to Yondu.

"Yondu!" Clive called out to Yondu. "I got a new proposition for you!"

"Oh? And what is that?" Yondu asked with a raised eyebrow.

"It's simple. You allow Gav to live." Clive said, gesturing to the downed Gav. "He's already suffered enough with the prospect of being buried alive. The men that wanted to see some sport have seen it. Those who wanted mercy for Gav will get it. And by keeping the two of us alive, you'll have yet another skilled Ravager and fighter for your crew."

Yondu seemed interested as he looked at his men. "Ya'll good with that?" He asked.

He got many nods and shrugs from the Ravagers.

"Eh, what the hell?" One Ravager answered.

"He might make things fun." Another Ravager answered.

"I got a feeling this guy might be even crazier than the boss." Another Ravager answered.

"Didn't think that was possible." Another Ravager answered.

"I think I'm gonna like this guy." Another Ravager answered.

"He's got guts." Another Ravager answered.

We can definitely use a man like him." Another Ravager answered.

Yondu chuckled and walked up to Clive.

"Alright. You got a deal, Rosfield. Only you'll need a new outfit that doesn't smell like dirt and rat piss. Follow us to the ship once you're ready to go." Yondu said as he accepted the deal.

"Right." Clive said with a nod.

Then as soon as the Ravagers were walking back inside of the cave. Clive helped Gav off the sandy ground and Gav felt an eternity of gratitude for Clive sparing his life when he didn't have to. Now he owes Clive his life.

So Gave accepted the help up. And Gav took hold of Clive's hand as he looked greatful and serious.

"I swear on my dead relatives, even on the ones that are not feeling too good, I am your man forever." Gav stated. Which made Clive smile.

Now Clive has earn a new friend.

"I look forward to it, Gav." Clive smiled.

After that, they walked into the cave. Where Yondu had a ship ready to head back to his star cruiser in the sky. From there. Clive went off into space to earn a reputation with the Ravagers. And to study the stars so he can be ready to find Spada's treasure.

And of course to leave behind the life of hopelessness he spent at Chateau Γ‰pine. What better way then to head for space.

Back in the present...

Cid was still telling Rapunzel the story.

"After that. Clive went off with those Ravagers to gain a new rep. Knowing he wouldn't last in Valisthea on his own. Especially since he was thirteen years behind on everything." Cid stated.

"These Ravagers Clive was with aren't the same ones who attacked Corona, are they?" Rapunzel asked with a bit of concern.

"You mean Taserface's group?" Cid inquired.

"Pffft!" Rocket stiffled a hard luaghed from inside. That name still gets him.

"No. His group broke protocol with the Ravager code. Especially when they some of your native enemies struck a deal with them. Yondu may be a crook but he has more honor than he cares to admit. He even helped evacuate Xandar when Thanos evaded the city and stole the Power Stone." Cid answered.

"Really?" Rapunzel asked in surprise. "And here I thought all Ravagers were a bunch of mean space pirates."

"Well. I should know." Cid grinned as he held up his Ravager badge. Which suprised Rapunzel. "I went with Yondu's group after I left my post as Commander of Waloed. I stayed with them until after Yozora took down The Heartless Queen herself and freed Radiant Garden."

"Wow. I never would've guessed." Rapunzel said in awe. "I'm sorry about what I said earlier. I hope I did not offend you."

"Ah you didn't. I was a mean space pirate. But we only fought and stole from those who deserved it. If it was anything like Corona. We wouldn't have dare lift a finger to harm it." Cid assured.

"Oh. So, you're kind of like Jack Sparrow and his crew." Rapunzel mused. "If he was like Robin Hood."

"Jack who?" Cid inquired since he never visited Jack Sparrow's world.

"Just a friend we met a while ago." Rapunzel said dismissively. "So, did Clive ever go back to his hometown? And if he ever found that treasure Harpocrates told him about?"

"Well. After Yozora set Radiant Garden free. Valisthea became a safe place for foreigners from other worlds to land again. Not that it brought Barnabas and Hugo Kupka's empire." Cid stated as the story resumed to a year later.

Resuming the story in Rosaria...

Clive had landed in Rosaria just a week after Yozora. Donald and Goofy took down Xhanas-Terror. Zhan Tiri's Heartless.

He wanted to be alone for this one. But he brought Gav along. Who was wearing his Ravager outfit. Clive wore the same black attire that he wore at the Olympus Coliseum. As he looked around the ruins of his castle. Completely vacant and empty. With roota growing along what was once his home.

Without any words to say. He went towards a nearby village where most Rosarians still lived. But in short numbers. It was nightfall so most of them were

So he went to the house of Jill and her parents. And he hesitated before he knocked on the door. When the door opened. Clive expected to see Jill or at least one of her parents.

Instead answering the door was a blonde middle aged lady in a commoner's attire, a lady that Clive recognized as Hanna Murdoch. The wife of Lord Commander Murdoch of Rosaria.

"May I help you Traveler?" Hanna asked softly.

"Um... I'm looking for Jill Warrick. Does she still live here?" Clive asked.

"Oh. You...You haven't heard?" Hanna asked as she didn't recognize Clive.

But Clive recognized her. Even though he won't make it known yet. Jill was his only concern.

"Haven't heard what?" Clive asked.

Hanna sighed as she needed to sit in order to tell him. "Please come in. I'll tell you." She softly spoke as she let Clive into the house.

Hanna gave Clive a seat at the table as she poured some tea for both of them. Before she sat down. Sipped her own cup. And Hanna began to speak.

"About fourteen years ago. After the first born son of Archduke Rosfield was taken away. Rosaria was brought under siege by the elite troops of Waloed. When Barnabas Tharmr took the throne." Hanna began.

Clive kept his anger in check that he needed to know. What happened to the Archduke. And the rest of his family.

"What happened to the Archduke? And the rest of his family?" Clive asked calmly.

"The day after his son was arrested and killed in action...He was poisoned." Hanna replied solemnly.

Clive wasn't expecting this. A part of him probably knew or at least figured that his father was dead. But not like this.

"And what happened to his other son? I know he had another." Clive asked while not showing his true emotions, even though he was beyond heartbroken to hear that his own father died while he wasn't there for his last moments.

"Dutchess Anabella demanded for the safe return of Clive Rosfield. But when they told her the nose. Nothing could rescue her from the grief and sorrow she felt. And the King of Woloed months later deemed the house of Rosfield to be cursed. And demanded that they hand over the newborn infant Joshua." Hanna answered.

"He did? Why?" Clive asked with slightly clenched fists.

"we all knew the truth. In spite of him claiming to cleanse Rosaria of wickedness. He wanted to make sure there wasn't one bloodline left of the Rosfield family...But our troops fought back...And we lost." Hanna dropped a few tears. "My husband along with them."

"... I am sorry for your loss." Clive muttered.

Hanna sniffed as she wiped her tears away.

"Thank you...We still don't know what happened to little Joshua. But the rest of us ran and scattered. Some of us our now nomads. Others fled to Sanbreque when the gates were opened for newcomers. And Lady Anabella married the Emperor of Sanbreque to unite our people with theirs. At least...What's left of us." Hanna said with a hoarsed voice. "She refused to curse the name of Clive Rosfield. She said she would rather taste the gates of hell and to spit in her son's grave."

Clive realized at that moment. His mother-in-law truly loved him. All these years he resented her for being hard on him. Of course she was! He was under educated and unprepared for the worst.

'If only I had listened.' Clive thought to himself.

"What became of Jill Warrick and her parents?" Clive asked after a moment of silence.

"Jill's parents died during the invasion. She and little Torgal fled. We still don't know where she is. But after what happened to...Clive. She never believed any of the lies they said about him. That he poisoned his own father and plotted with Mason The Wise. But his death almost killed her. So she dedicated her life to helping the rest of Rosaria. But we never heard back from her in years." Hanna explained as she shed a few more tears. "So I...I live in their house since it's the only one standing after the invasion. I came back after Xhanas-Terror fell.

In other words. Jill could be dead. Alive. Enslaved. Branded or worse. Even Clive wanted to still believe the latter. Everything else seems more realistic.

As for Jill's house. Clive knew every other home outside weren't there when he lived here back then.

"I see... Thank you for the information." Clive said politely.

"May I have your name? Incase anyone comes by and asks about you?" Hanna asked as she looked up when Clive stood from his seat.

He was letting go of everything about his past now. With the lack of his life, disappeared off the face of Valisthea and his father dead with his Mother-in-law moving on. There's nothing left for him here. He didn't want to have to burden whatever is left. Or whoever is left.

"It's Wyvern. have a blessed night." Clive said as he bid her fairwell.

And Clive walked out with a blank expression of just determination. The only thing left of him now is his desire for revenge. On the ones who ruined his life.

He walked up to his Chocobo where Gave was waiting on his.

"Where to now, Clive?" Gav asked.

"Back to the ship." Clive said, a fire in his eyes. "It's time to claim what is mine."

The next day on Planet Sydus...

Clive board his space ship provided by Yondu. Known as the Final Fantasy. Along with his partner Gav.

The Final Fantasy looks like any Ravager ship with the wings spread on both sides of the engines. Only the front bore the resemblance of a Chocobo. In fact it was yellow like a Chocobo.

Clive chose to keep this trip for himself since Yondu gave Clive permission to peruse his own course whenever he needed to, especially after all the good he did for his clan of Ravagers. And all the successful jobs they pulled off.

Clive kept his record clean when it came to the Nova Corp. Even if Yondu had a criminal record. Clive stayed anonymous.

By the time they landed on Planet Sydus. Which in all accounts is meant to be a baron planet. It's the one place no one would expect to find any treasure.

but Clive followed the map Harpocrates gave him. He and Gav flew the ship around several different shape mountains. And would stop to study the surroundings and follow the clues on the map.

From the mountain in the shape of elephant. To the lake in the shape of a Minotaur. Across the Valley of Baron Pleasures. all the way out to the mountain regions. Where they landed the ship near cave. Hidden by debris.

Which they used to explosives to blast away. And by the time they went inside. There was a water tunnel at the end of the cave. Clive told Gav to stay. While he took his clothes off with leaving only his trousers on. And he dove into the water. Using a rebreather to swim further until he saw what he was looking for.

An entire underwater cave that spanned for miles hundreds maybe more. Filled with large silver chests. Clive opened one of them and saw heaps and pile of gold, silver and gems inside the chest. Some of these jewels were even from worlds that have bigger than any of the finest diamonds on earth. He smiled and began to collect.

Later on...

Gav was having the time of his life as he took a crate and started loading up their spaceship.

Gav was laughing as he placed twelve more treasure chests into the cargo bay of the ship as he kissed the top of one of them. And caressing them like a lady. While he was wearing a diamond king crown. As he took a pile in his hand. And walked over to Clive, who was sitting by the stairs which lead into the upper decks of the ship.

"WOOOOOOO!" Gav cheered as he tossed some coins. "Hahahahaha!"

But Clive who is back in his Ravager attire. He was sitting wall deep in thought.

"This is utterly insane!" Gav exclaimed and laughed excitedly. "The ship can't take anymore! We're nearly above weight and there's still give or take a thousand more shiploads down there! I've never seen so many riches in all my life!"

Clive didn't respond as he knew there was one thing that mattered more than money.

"Clive? Are you not listening?! You are MORE RICH! Then anyone I have ever known! Whatever your problems are. They are over." Gave expressed. "What do you wanna buy?"

Clive looked up with deadly eyes.

"Revenge." Clive said in a cold tone.

"Okay. Who's on our hit list?" Gav asked with a smile.

"Barnabas Tharmr, Gibson Clarion, Zhan Tiri, and all those who followed her willfully." Clive said each name with nothing but complete bitterness.

"Right. We kill these people, then we spend the treasure." Gav remarked.

"No, we will study them, learn their weaknesses." Clive stated firmly.

"Why not just kill them?! Just one phone call from Yondu or the Nova Corp or even those men in tights from Earth! And they're history! I fail to see how that's a bad plan!" Gav protested with his hands out.

"A quick death is too good for these bastards." Clive said calmly and coldly. "They must suffer as I have suffered. They must see their world, all they hold dear, ripped from them as it was ripped from me."

Gav sighed as he knew Clive was right to feel this way. After what he went through in the Chateau Γ‰pine. Anyone would need this.

"Well. You are gonna need more than a Ravager badge if you are to make it in Velisthea these days. That and you'll need to get rid of the brand." Gave adviced and gestured at the brand mark on his cheek.

"I already have that covered." Clive said with a slight smirk. "And I'm sure I'll have enough authority as a Count."

After that. Clive made sure to burn the map and keep a copy in his database. And after that they took what treasure they could and left the planet. While keeping the cave sealed to make sure no one would ever find it. But them.

From that day on. The Count Of Radiant Garden was born.

Back in the present...

"And after that. Clive came home and contacted me and my allies. We all band together to rebuild Radiant Garden while he took over Mason's mansion. He gave the rest of us his castle. Where it's mostly a base these days." Cid stated. "He even lead some of us to go with the Guardians to stick it to Syndicate XIII. Your brother and Yozora allowed Clive to deliver the killing blow to Zhan Tiri's nobody."

"Really? Clive was the one to finish her off?" Rapunzel asked surprised.

Maverick teleported next to Rapunzel while leaning back against the rails.

"Yeah didn't I mention that eighteen chapters ago when I told you about my epic Guard Dog arc?" Maverick inquired before he looked at the Readers. "While off screen."

"Maybe. I can't remember." Rapunzel said with a shrug. "Either way, it must've been quite a fight, huh?"

"Yeah the kind that would span over four boss battles at the end of a JRPG. And if you're wondering how Count Richie Rich ended up moving all of his wealth out of that cave. Well I helped and even built a massive vault under this town with security soo tight, that it would make Fort Knox look like a utility closet." Maverick remarked as he revealed.

"Especially since he probably has more money than Fort Knox." Rapunzel said with a smirk. "Does this mean he's richer than you?"

"Zel like I said. I'm the third richest. Though I'm probably tied with Iron Man. Clive and the Christmas Carol Duck are the only two people in all existence that's richer than me." Maverick quipped. "But I didn't take it personal. Especially since Count Da Count paid me with two hundred miles worth of his treasure in exchange for building the vault and helping him get revenge on the Wicked Witch Of The dozen."

Clive still has over a thousand miles more. So two hundred miles is pocket change for him.

"Two hundred Miles!? That's bigger than Corona!" Rapunzel exclaimed.

"And yet I could buy and sell Corona with pocket change." Maverick teased playfully.

"Oh like you could. Corona is priceless." Rapunzel said with a smirk.

"That fairy tale belongs to you." Maverick nudged playfully before he continued. "But seriously. Clive found a endless gave of treasure. Big deal. Money isn't everything."

"If that's the case, how is Scrooge McDuck richer than Clive?" Rapunzel asked.

"That's easy! I found Treasure Planet! Well at least the only variant that didn't blow up!" Scrooge McDuck echoed from down below as his carriage passed by.

"What he said." Maverick deadpanned.

"it was easy for Clive to set up business out here. Especially since Fireflies here helped surgically remove Clive's brand." Cid revealed what Orion also did for Clive.

"You were able to remove his brand?" Rapunzel asked.

Maverick shifted back into Orion. "I had to. Those Brandephobes out there weren't going to take his money if he had it on his cheek. That and most folk die from the original procedure so I introduced a more modern one." He explained.

"Wow. That's great. That means we can help these people even more now." Rapunzel said enthusiastically.

"Especially with your team around." They heard a voice say.

They turned to see Clive Rosfield himself. The Count Of Radiant Garden enter the balcony with a short beard and his hair brushed back to look fancy. And he was wearing. red and black vest with chainmail on the arms, black metal gauntlets and knee guards on his long matching pants with boots, and a black hooded cape, along with a sword called Invictus strapped to his belt.

And as Orion stated. Clive's brand was gone. Leaving only a faint but noticeable facial scar. Which almost resembled a burnt mark. Like the same scar Tarja has.

"If it ain't the parody protagonist himself." Orion smirked.

"Oh hi. You must be Clive. I'm Rapunzel." Rapunzel greeted with a friendly smile. "It's nice to finally meet you."

"I know. The Maverick wouldn't stop gawking about you when we met." Clive smiled as he shook her hand.

"I hope he said all good things." Rapunzel said smirking.

"I didn't leave the flaws out." Orion whispered humorously.

"I hear some of your friends brought back Shiva's Dominant." Clive said.

"Bet your arse we did." Cid smirked.

"I had no doubt that they would." Rapunzel said while smirking. "So, who is she anyway?"

Hoshi came out to the balcony with a meek smile.

"That you may wanna grab a drink for." Hoshi shyly said. As everyone looked at her.

Most of the Guardians including Hoshi would stand by an listen to Cid tell Rapunzel the whole story. So she didn't know who Jill was until now.

Later on at the Restoration Committee's medical wing...

Inside one of the many rooms in the medical wing. Jill was given a room when she had arrived. And she had just woken up and gotten dress into a new adventure attire provided by Tarja who was tending to her.

Jill's outfit was a white dress with a dark navy chest on the outside. With a matching leather glove on her right hand. She also wore brown and navy high boots. And a navy drape was at the back of her dress with a small half drape in front.

Needless to say she was looking more like her younger self. But more mature.

Just then. Tarja came in with a smile. "How are we doing today?" She asked.

"A bit better now. Thank you." Jill said with a small smile.

"That's good. Cid and the Count are ensuring for your safety. We've also found your Caravan. They were brought back here." Tarja assured her.

"Thank goodness." Jill said with a sigh before looking with concern. "Are they all okay?"

"All thanks to you." Tarja smiled.

"Alright...Also. Regarding the Count...I've heard rumors about his identity from the other patients next door." Jill said ad she had a extremely hopeful look. "Is it true?"

Before Tarja could answer. They heard a rapid knock at the door that made Jill jump a bit. Tarja went over and carefully opened the door with her hand on her sword hilt. When she cracked the door and saw who it was. Tarja grinned and looked at Jill.

"I will give you two a moment." Tarja said as she walked out.

Jill was confused. That is...Until Clive walked in.

As he stepped into the room, Jill let out a gasp, both her's and Clive's eyes widening as they saw each other after so many years.

Clive rushed into the room with his eyes full of emotion and removed his sword from his back and set it aside before looking at the love of his life.

"It's true, then. It really is you." Jill said, all choked up with tears falling from her eyes.

Clive moved to sit down next to her misty eyes.

"It is." Clive muttered with a voice full of emotion.

"Clive!" Jill cried happily as the two embraced for the first time in years, tears falling from both of their eyes. "You're alive."

"So are you. I still can't believe it." Clive said back, hugging her tightly before pulling back slightly to look into her beautiful eyes again.

As they embraced. They sat on the bed so they could talk.

"Where have-" They both said at the same time before Jill stifled a short giggle.

"Um...You go first." Clive offered with a smile.

Jill's smile slowly faded as she looked relieved still. But tears were still in her eyes.

"Where have you been?" Jill asked with a broken voice. "I was told you were dead."

Clive lost his smile as he looked down with a frown.

"It was Barnabas...He and a few others did more than just betray Rosaria. He was the reason I was arrested." Clive started.

"What?" Jill gasped in shock. "He was your best friend. How could he do this to you?!"

"The son of a bitch was always envious. He saw an opportunity when Mason the Wise's students double cross him. Because I was a witness. He had the Magistrate send me to...To Chateau Γ‰pine. It's where I spent the next thirteen years torment. " Clive explained grimly.

Jill's eyes widened in horror.

"Oh my God." Jill whispered in horror, knowing the horror stories of that awful place and what they did to people there. "I'm so sorry. If I knew you were there, I would've done everything to get you out."

"I know. But I survived. Mostly because I had help. And...I thought of very little. Revenge was one of the few fires within me. Which kept me going." Clive whispered.

Then Jill placed her hand on top of his as it made him look at her soft tender look.

"Was I one of those fires that kept you going?" Jill asked softly as she looked into his eyes.

Clive softly touched her cheek. "Always. You never left my heart Jill." He assured as he sighed as he looked down. "Not like how God left the both of us."

"No, my love. God was not responsible for our pain and sorrow. It is the evil people who torture and kill the innocent that are responsible." Jill said gently as she looked up into his eyes. "God does all that is good. He is all light. And all these people who take joy in our pain are the works of darkness."

Clive looked into her beautiful eyes as they were close. "I stopped believing in him at one point." He whispered.

"What reignited that belief?" Jill asked softly.

"Want the truth?" Clive asked as Jill nodded and he sighed as he looked at her. "I stopped...Until just now."

Jill blushed and smiled at Clive's answer.

"Even though I thought you were dead, I still had hope that we would meet again." Jill said as she held up her ring finger to show the string ring still there. "This has never left my finger. And it never."

Clive looked at the ring. As it was something that was bringing him hope back.

"After we're done bringing Barnabas and his allies to justice. We shall pick up where we left off." Clive promised.

Jill knew he meant for them to get married. A part of her wanted to drop all of this and just leave it all behind. But too many people are suffering because of the King Of Waloed and the bigotry against the Branded.

They both suffered because of this tyranny. And they must aee it through.

"Let's bring an end to this darkness. Then we'll have our whole lives ahead of us in the light." Jill said, giving Clive's hand a soft squeeze.

One more thing was on his mind. "Joshua. Do you know what happened with him?" He asked.

He heard it from Hanna. But now he needed to know from Jill's side of the story.

"Yes. I helped your mother escape with little Joshua." Jill answered as she remembered that day. "But we have him to the Undying to ensure his safety. To this day, I still don't know where Joshua is. No one does. But the Undying promised his return when this was all over."

Clive looked down. He had very little memories of his baby brother. But those few memories were good ones. He remember a little small baby in a crib. Who stopped crying when he held Clive's finger.

That little creature is now grown up somewhere. And Clive would hardly recognize him when he sees him. So many memories they missed out on. Time that they lost. But Clive is determined to make the rest of his time worth it. To get back the years he lost.

But first he has to make the people who ruined his life pay.

"We'll you help me? To get this battle over with? So we can all pick up where we started?" Clive asked as his voice cracked just a bit. He felt the need to cry. But he wanted to stay strong for Jill. For everyone.

"Of course, my love. I'm with you all the way." Jill said softly before giving Clive a gentle kiss on the lips. "I love you, Clive."

"I love you too." Clive whispered as he kissed her back. And they leaned into each other. Missing each other's warmth and touch.

they didn't know how they were able to live without this.

From underneath the door. Pascal wad watching with a small digital camera on his back as he tearfully smiled at the side. While a fly flew around him and his tongue snapped to catch and eat it.

But Clive and Jill didn't notice as they were still kissing.

Back down stairs in the Restoration Committee...

Rapunzel was with Eugene along with Yozora and Orion who was with their girls Friday and Hoshi.

As they were all watching from a tablet. The entire conversation. And Rapunzel was quietly but joyfully squealing that Clive has his woman back due to the camera on Pascal's back. It was a live feed.

"And thus act one is finished." Orion mused.

"About freakin time." Yozora grinned.

"Awww! This is so beautiful! Two lost loves reunited after so much time!" Rapunzel gushed.

"I'm so happy for the two of them." Hoshi said with a smile of her own.

"Yeah, that Clive is one lucky bastard." Friday said smirking.

"meaning what?!" Orion inquired as he sounded offended.

"Oh, tell me you don't think she's hot." Friday challenged with a smirk. "You should've seen what she was wearing when we rescued her."

"Sure but let's not have this world invent the rape whistle. Besides wearing our late teens and Jill's like in her early thirties." Orion stated as he was weirded out.

"Well then I say you and I should go find Jill's younger variant after all this." Friday said with a perverted look in her eyes.

"Well looks like-" Eugene almost teased.

"You say one word. I'll invite Mount Vesuvius in your sleep." Orion deadpanned.

Eugene looked scared before changing the subject.

"It looks like Clive and Jill have wedding plans in their future." Eugene said, changing the subject.

"Yeah. Those two were made for each other." Rapunzel gushed again.

"Course if they had locked me and Lance in the Cheating Eddies. Whatever that prison was called. We would've busted out before the first lash landed." Eugene humorously bragged.

"Eugene, Sweetie. I really wouldn't want to take that chance." Rapunzel said with a sheepish smile. "That place was literally hell on earth."

"Oh you wanna know what hell on earth was for me? about the time you locked me in Cass inside of the dungeon below our castle?" Eugene snorted.

"I was teaching the two of you how to get along. And it worked, didn't it?" Rapunzel said with a smug smile.

"Yeah...For a few minutes." Eugene teased with his arms crossed and a smirk.

Rapunzel huffed and crossed her arms cutely in response.

"Still speaking of 'her'. We've been scanning for months now. We even traced practically every location you all have been during your journey to the Dark Kingdom and there's still no sign of Cassandra." Friday stated as she was thinking.

"Leaving us to wonder, where the hell could she have gone? Tahiti? Darth Vader's dojo?" Orion wondered.

"Well, Remember that those black rocks of the Moonstone did appear on the same planet where Thanos sacrificed his daughter Gamora." Rapunzel reminded the team. "So maybe she found a way to travel between worlds and is just at one we've never been to yet. I mean the Multiverse is huge."

"I think we know why she was there. If Cass hasn't figured it out yet." Yozora said as he and Orion was remembering something.

"Figured what out? What are you talking about?" Rapunzel asked.

"Wait...I didn't tell you didn't I?" Orion asked carefully.

"...Tell me what, Ryan?" Rapunzel asked with her now looking directly at her brother.

"You didn't tell her?!" Friday narrowed her eyes at her husband. "How could you leave that out?!"

"Ah shit...Zel I'm very sorry. I should've told you but I forgot to." Orion said remorsefully before he hissed at the Author. "I blame you for forgetting."

"Would someone please tell me what's going on?!" Rapunzel asked loudly, now starting to get concerned.

"Well...Do you remember everything about Infinity Stones?" Hoshi shyly asked.

"Yeah who hasn't?" Eugene scoffed.

" Yeah. I remember you telling me about them. The Infinity Stones are six immensely powerful gem-like objects tied to different aspects of the Marvel Universe." Rapunzel said as she counted with her fingers. "There's the Space Stone, the Mind Stone, the Reality Stone, the Power Stone, the Time Stone, and the Soul Stone."

"Right. But here's the thing. What Yid Sen told us recently. Or rather told Orion here. That there are actually eight Infinity Stones. The Light Stone and the Dark Stone." Yozora revealed.

"Light Stone and Dark Stone? There are two other Infinity stones?" Rapunzel asked surprised.

"Yeah..." Orion nervously pointed at Rapunzel. "The Sundrop..." Then he pointed back to gesture their runaway friend. "And Moonstone."

Then it dawned on both Rapunzel and Eugene.

"Oh." Eugene muttered trying to contain the shock.

"Are you saying... I have had an infinity stone inside me since I was born?" Rapunzel asked calmly, even though it was obvious her emotions were all over the place. "And now Cassandra does too?"

"Yeah..." Orion carefully answered.

"You're not gonna go at war with yourself again, are you?" Eugene asked out of concern.

"No... I'm good... I'm calm..." Rapunzel said calmly before all hell broke loose. "I'VE HAD AN INFINITY INSIDE ME ALL THIS TIME AND NO ONE THOUGHT TO TELL ME?!"

Orion used a neon sound bubble around her to contain the noise before he dropped it.

"I'm sorry, okay?! A lot of shit was happening all at once! It slipped my mind! Between having to bail out Groot, learning of Cassandra's betrayal, and Corona being controlled by Ravagers?! You're lucky I even remembered my own name!" Orion argued in defense.

"We all just assumed he told you during his first story time afterwards." Hoshi meekly stated.

"Wow...So your the Infinity Saga's lost episode. Do you know how many geeks would pay you a fortune to read all this let alone hear it? They should build a statue of you next to Stan Lee! Hahaha! Ha..." Eugene joked and he nervously chuckled as he muttered. "I'm not helping aren't I?"

"Eugene? Please stop talking right now." Rapunzel muttered while gritting her teeth.

Which made Eugene gulp. Before it dawned on him. He's seen enough, Marvel films and comics to know how this all works. Even if Rapunzel isn't sure how to rack her brain around this. Is she dangerous? Is she gonna blow up? Will she mutate? What's the stone side of her mother originally before she gave birth to her? All of this is running through her mind

"No...No actually this actually a good thing!" Eugene spoke up again.

"What?" Rapunzel looked confused.

"Blondie think about it! You're the living embodiment of light itself! It's why you're able to improve everything around you! Change everything for good! You took over inside you was meant for light. And you improved it because that's who you are." Eugene explained he held her shoulders. "And you change my life for that same reason."

"And mine. I mean I'd be dead for multiple different illnesses if it wasn't for your power. Releasing the X-Genes and all." Orion added as he was understanding what Eugene was saying.

"But... Wasn't that just the power of the stone?" Rapunzel asked hesitantly.

"No. Hear us now. The people you've saved in the lives that you've inspired. You didn't use the stone for that. Giving Ryan a sister. That wasn't the stone. Becoming hope for Corona. That was in stone either." Friday said with compassion.

"And the lives You inspired across the stars. You hardly ever use The power of the stone to help others see the light. It's what made us a team. And it's what helped us get this far." Yozora said with wisdom.

"Zel. I wouldn't be who I am right now if not for you. Like many heroes And franchise icons, you were given this power. But the power wouldn't have done anything if it wasn't for you. I would've been lost without you." Orion insisted with love for his sister.

Rapunzel became misty eyed.

"Oh, Ryan." Rapunzel said before hugging her little brother. "Thank you. All of you."

Orion hugged her back. Even Friday shared a hug with her. And so did Yozora and Hoshi. While Eugene shared a hug and a kiss with Rapunzel.

Just then. Gav. Clive's partner walked in wearing a new mavy blue and orange light leather armor attire. (The outfit he wore in the video game Final Fantasy 16. Look it up.)

Only he had an eyepatch over his right eye.

"Excuse me. I hope I didn't catch you gents at a bad time, have I?" Gav said as he got their attention.

"No. Not at all. Your timing is perfect." Yozora said before gesturing to Rapunzel. "Gav, this is Rapunzel, Orion's sister. Rapunzel, I'd like you to meet Gav."

"Oh, you're Clive's friend." Rapunzel smiled before shaking his hand. "It's nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too. I would've like to meet you with both eyes but I lost one in a fight with the Syndicate." Gav smiled as he shook.

"TMI." Friday deadpanned.

"Right. Sorry." Gav cleared his throat. "I came because Clive is putting together a ball at his mansion this evening. All of those targets you gave the invitations to will be there. He'll want you all to be there as guests, but with a low profile, if you know what I mean."

"I get what you're saying." Rapunzel said with a smirk. "We'll be there with bells on."

"Precisely. Oh and this little chap here was defending the caravan from prey and invaders." Gav smiled as he turned and whistled to call someone in.

Just then. They heard some barking.

"Ruff ruff!" They heard.

And a white and gray snow dog with the size and resemblance of a wolf but he was wearing a gold bracelet over his left front paw.

It was Torgal. And older Torgal. And he sat in front of the team panting.

"Admit it. You almost forgot to write in Togo here, so you're dumping him in the epilogue." Orion teased the Author.

"Oh my God! He's so cute!" Rapunzel beamed as she bent down to meet him, rubbing the top of his head. "Hey, boy. I'm Rapunzel."

Torgal panted happily as he licked her face giving her rapid doggy kisses.

"Hahaha! That's a good boy!" Rapunzel giggled as she gave Torgal more pets and rubs.

If only she had seen him when he was a puppy.

Hoshi and Friday came over to pet him as they were gushing. And even Yozora and Orion had a weakness for dogs. Especially after meeting so many. Eugene needed to ask Gav something though.

"Exactly how big were those predators he fought off?" Eugene asked with a concerned raised eyebrow.

"They varied in size." Gav shrugged.

"Huh..." Eugene could only nod slowly.

This dog definitely was special. But exactly how special is he?

On that note. Everyone got up to get ready for the next phase in Clive's plan. For the Guardians to go as guests and study the targets that are also invited.

But as fate would have it. There is another guest that's coming. And she wasn't given an invitation.

She has one of her own.

Meanwhile down at the Castle Of Waloed...

The city of Waloed looks a little more grim than most of the other kingdoms. At night some would think that the castle is a haunted house. But the metallic exterior and the medieval structure gives us a style that's unique.

Down at the courtyard. Barnabas Tharmr was practicing his fencing with a guard that volunteered. One of the elites. And Barnabas was showing great skill. And he doesn't show mercy.

He displayed this when he saw an opening and sliced the guards head off.

*SLASH!*

The headless body fell with a thud. As some of the guards in the background, either snickered in amusement or shuttered in fear.

"Well. That was a waste of a uniform." Barnabas huffed as he was catching his breath.

Just then. Beniditka Harman. Barnabas top spy walked in wearing her usual black armored dress attire. And she seemed unfazed by the deck corpse in the courtyard, especially since she's just as ruthless.

"You sure you're not going with us?" Beniditka said with a sultry tone as she walked up to her king. And lover.

"As much as being the face of the party and stealing all the attention sounds rather appealing, going to a town that's half broken is beneath me." Barnabas said pompously.

"You mean a town we broke in half." Beniditka scoffed as she took a thin smoke pipe with a grin.

She was a member of Syndicate XIII after all.

"Exactly." Barnabas said with his own grin. "If those people were smart, they'd remember their place."

"I knew mine even as a Nobody." Beniditka flirted as she stroked her hand down his shoulder.

"Yes. Even now, you remain loyal to me." Barnabas said with a dark smirk.

"Always my Lord." Beniditka husked as they shared a but brief kiss. passionate kiss. "Oh and speaking of which. We have a guest to volunteered to take your place at the ball in Radiant Garden."

"Is that so?" Barnabas asked with a raised eyebrow. "And who is this guest you speak of?"

Beniditka smirked as she turned and they saw some woman with blue hair. Wearing a brown cloak to conceal her face. And yet her black and blue armor with spikes on the shoulders, wrists and ankles were noticeable.

"My men and I found her on the outskirts of the Rosarian forest. She 'insisted' with an audience with you." Beniditka stated.

"And you might you be, Mysterious Maiden?" Barnabas inquired.

Then the woman took off the hood and cloak. And revealed herself to be none other then...Cassandra! Who still possesses the moon stone.

"The name's Paragon." Cassandra said coldly.

As in the same name Orion gave her during that science fair. The Exposition of Science.

"And what business do you have, that you'd be in need of my invitation?" Barnabas asked as he was impressed by her demeanor and stature.

"Nothing much. Some old friends of mine will be attending." Cassandra said with a deadly look in her eyes. "And I intend to take back what is rightfully mine."

It didn't take much convincing. Barnabas heard of the Count though he doesn't know who he is. The King of Woloed intends to bring him down and take all of his mysterious amount of wealth.

But he would need a little chaos to find an opportunity. And whatever Cassandra intends may be that opportunity.

Unfortunately for these wicked people and a lost friend. The Guardians of the Unknown have a plan of their own. And Orion prepared for Cassandra's return.

So be ready, Paragon. Whatever your plot is. They'll be ready.

And most of all. Rapunzel won't give up on her best friend.

THAT'S ALL FOR NOW FOLKS! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Yep! Cassandra is coming back early. Did you all really think I was gonna do what the TV show did and have her become good at the last minute? Hell no! She was my favorite character in season 1 and season 2. And I know a lot of folks found her reasons to betray Rapunzel to be contrived.

But really think about it. Cassandra was vexed beyond belief to even think rationally when Zhan Tiri gave her back her suppressed memories and manipulated Cassandra's inner resentment towards emotions.

She wasn't completely evil. Her mind was in darkness. And she needed to vent. At least Cassandra never took an innocent life. Even though she was tempted to several times.

but knowing Orion, Rapunzel and the Guardians. There will be a way to knock some sense into her when the time comes.πŸ‘Œ

"Only it won't end with her having her hand cut off Sixth film style….Maybe. Nah just kiddin." Maverick snickered. πŸ˜† "Or am I?" 😏
