When Kaeya woke up, he was wrapped in Diluc's jacket and noticed bandages around his wrists. He sat up and looked around the room to see that he was still in the hotel room. He looked on his right and found Diluc asleep with his head in his arms. Xiao was on his other side also asleep but leaning against a chair. Aether was next to him in bed with a goofy grin on his face. After a moment of observing his surroundings, he looked down to his arms. He was surprised to see white gauze wrapped around his wrists and carefully tested his arms. As he stretched his arms in a cat-like function, he looked towards his brother to see red eyes staring into his blue eyes. "Kae, how are you feeling?" Diluc quickly asked as he started to fret over his blue-haired brother. "My head is killing me... what happened?" Kaeya asks his brother who's lips press into a straight line before he tucks his brother in further. "Try to rest for now, I'll fill you in tomorrow morning." After Diluc gently pat his brother's head, a calming motion for them both, Kaeya's eye slowly closed and he was within the bliss of pitch black darkness in the void of sleep.
Once Kaeya had fallen asleep Diluc let out a sigh of relief and adjusted the blanket on his brother. Diluc curled up slightly bringing his hands to his face almost rocking back and forth. Kaeya has had quite a few slip ups and he's been worried that he may lose his brother. Xiao was able to assist Diluc and told him that they would take care of Kaeya for the night and check his condition in the morning. Diluc looked down at the ground with sad eyes that burned with determination to help his little brother, even if he had to keep him in a hospital as an inpatient. He sighed as he looked over his brother's sleeping form and stood up for a moment and went to the restroom. He instantly felt nauseous upon seeing his brother's blood but took a quick breath before cleaning the restroom. After thirty minutes the scene was cleaned up and he found what his brother had used and angrily stood up. When he returned to the room he shook Aether and Xiao awake and pointed out of the room for them to follow. Once they were out of the room Diluc threw down the straight razor. "Keep shit like this in your bag. Seeing sharp items might trigger him and cause a relapse. I don't care who it belongs to, just please keep it in your stuff." Diluc turned and took his place back at Kaeya's side. Diluc looked at his brother and kept patting his head. "You'll be okay. I promise." Diluc whispers softly and holds onto his brother's hand.
When Kaeya woke up in the morning he found Diluc next to him holding his hand. Kaeya slowly slid his hand out of Diluc's grasp and slowly began to climb out of bed. "Where are you going?" Diluc asked softly causing Kaeya to nearly jump out of his skin. "I'm using the restroom." Kaeya responds feeling his brother's eyes burning a hole through his back. "Leave the door unlocked and ajar." Kaeya nods and quickly runs to the restroom. Xiao and Aether wandered into the brother's room while watching Kaeya quickly make his way to the restroom. "We're heading back to Mondstadt today. Get dressed and packed. We're taking the express this time." The route Diluc had driven to Liyue had only been a scenic route that took a lot longer than the express. Diluc got up and stretched and grabbed his and Kaeya's bags. When Kaeya came back and saw Diluc packing his bag up he crossed his arms. "When did you get the right to go through my bags?" Kaeya huffed only for Diluc to quickly retort "One. Making sure you have your charger. Two. I have been too lenient on you. I apologize for that. You'll be under constant supervision from now on, and your bags will be packed for you." Kaeya scoffed and started to argue with his brother. "I have the right to have my own privacy! C'mon Diluc isn't this going too far?" Diluc spared his brother a glance and sighed shaking his head. "Going too far? I should have done this a while ago. You're lucky I haven't already done this. After you're healthier we can talk about less supervision and more privacy. For now, I need the reassurance that you're safe and not hurting yourself. Kae, you are the only family I have left. I cannot and will not lose you." Kaeya's mouth quickly closed into a thin line and he sat on the bed crossing his arms. Diluc sat next to Kaeya and pulled him to his chest. "I'm always going to take care of you. I have your back no matter what but not when you're hurting yourself. Can you talk to me when you feel the urge to self-harm? I don't care when it is, if I'm sleeping wake me up, call me or text me, just please don't hurt yourself anymore." Kaeya held onto his brother's shirt and nodded into his brother's chest. Diluc held him closer for a moment before placing a light kiss on the top of his head.
After they were all packed up and had a quick breakfast they were on the road. The express had them getting to Mondstadt within an hour. Diluc started on the drive to Dain's place to drop off Aether and Xiao. When they arrived the door was opened and Lumine was on a lounge chair sunbathing as they pulled up. Diluc grabbed Aether's and Xiao's bags as Dain came out to greet them. "You're back early! Lumine, why don't you have Kaeya join you while Diluc and I have a chat." Dain said gently quickly grabbing the bags from Diluc's hands and quickly guiding him inside. Aether and Xiao followed them inside as Lumine guided Kaeya to a lounge chair next to her.
"So how was your vacation, Kae?" Lumine asked as she stretched out on her chair. Kaeya looked down with a frown. "It was good until I ruined it." Kaeya's frown deepened as he scowled at the earth below. Lumine sat up and looked at him tenderly. "I relapsed Lu, badly." Kaeya said and then sat back in his chair. "Diluc's basically taking away my privacy. I know he only wants to protect me... but he already took away my room. Now I don't even get to pack my bags for school, outpatient, or even trips. I'm also going to be under more supervision. I already feel so restricted..." Kaeya trailed off and decided to stay silent for the time being. Lumine, knew his situation. "It isn't as bad as you may think it is. At least it shows he cares about you." Lumine tried to lighten up Kaeya's mood. Kaeya gave her a small smile before looking out up to the sky.
"Well, it seems things got out of hand on your little get away." Dain teased slightly to ease the conversation. Diluc was staring hard at the ground and sighed. "I don't know what I'm doing wrong." Dain frowned and quickly gave Diluc a hug. "You're secretly a teddy bear under all that brooding. You care about your little brother so much and want him to be healthy. You both lost your father at such a young age. I am so impressed with how far you have both come. Kaeya just needs a little extra help and a little extra love right now." Diluc nods and as Dain releases Diluc from the hug, Aether and Xiao joined them in the kitchen. "Seeing as you guys are all settled maybe it's best for Kaeya and I head home." Just after he said this he heard his brother's laugh and his eyes softened. "Y'know it might be good if Lumine and Kaeya hung out every now and then. It would be good for them." Diluc nods and looks out the window to see Lumine and Kaeya laughing and gently pushing the other. He smiles and shakes his head at their antics. "I wanna get Kaeya home and reach out to his therapist. Get him more sessions or see what he recommends." Diluc says as he gets up to lean in the door frame watching Kaeya and Lumine. He allows a small smile to grace his face as he steps outside to check on his brother and Lumine as Dain follows him. "I know this is kind of an impromptu question but why don't you guys stay for dinner?" Dain asked Diluc before they were in earshot of Kaeya and Lumine. "It's been a while since we all sat down and had a really nice dinner together." Diluc thinks for a moment before looking Dain straight in his eyes. "So... what do we need? I'll get you fresh ingredients." Dain laughed "Wanna just do a full out barbecue? It's very nice out and it'll get the little ones to eat more." Kaeya and Lumine both overheard him and pouted "We're not little!" Diluc rolled his eyes and shook his head. "What do you say squirt, stay for dinner?" Diluc ruffled Kaeya's hair as he sat next to him. "I think that sounds good. Are you both cooking?" They both nodded and Kaeya's eye lit up and Lumine even looked over her chair with bright eyes. "We'll take those reactions as yeses." Dain said and Diluc nodded. "Aether! Xiao! Get out here!" Dain called. Xiao and Aether hung out of the door frame looking towards Dain. "Diluc and I are running to the store. Keep an eye on Lumine and Kaeya for us. Lumine, listen to your brothers. You can stay out here if you want but remember to reapply your sunscreen. If you get tired, go inside, I don't want you falling asleep in the sun." Once he was done Diluc turned to Kaeya "Kae, listen to Xiao and Aether. You can stay with Lumine as much as you want as long as she is okay with it. If you feel upset at all let Aether or Xiao know." Kaeya nodded and gave his brother a hug. Diluc gladly returned it and Diluc dropped his jacket on Kaeya's head. "If you get cold, wear this. I know no matter how hot it is, you're always cold." Once Dain grabbed his keys and wallet, they quickly jumped in Dain's car. The four teenagers watched the two drive away.
"So, Kaeya likes your cooking? Is it really that good?" Dain playfully teased Diluc who rolled his eyes. "Yes, he does but he prefers Adeline's or my cooking. Honestly as long as he's eating I don't mind. I have been told that I'm an excellent cook though." Diluc smirked at the end of his sentence. Dain smiled and nodded "Lumine prefers Aether's cooking. Xiao only cooks once in a blue moon... all that kid makes is almond tofu." Diluc laughed at Dain's distraught face. "Well, at least he knows how to cook something." The red head was laughing along with the blonde now. "So what are we planning on making for the kiddos?" Dain looked at Diluc who seemed to fully focus while navigating the store. "Kaeya likes Chicken-Mushroom Skewers, anything chicken, any meat I make he likes. He's not very picky but the one thing he is vocal about is his dislike for grape juice." Dain nodded. "Honestly Lumine and Aether both like everything. They're both extremely talented chefs but Lumine isn't allowed in the kitchen for the meantime." Diluc was saddened for a moment nodding "Kaeya is as well." After they got a variety of different meats, vegetables, and whatever else they thought they would need, when they were about to get in line for check out Dain received a call.
"I know Dain said you guys could stay out here, but I think we should go inside." Aether was insisting and pushing everyone to go inside. While some may just see it as him wanting to play video games or watch TV inside, those that knew him knew he was usually right or had very good intuition. The four of them went inside and locked the door behind them. They all sat on the couch and stayed together and made sure they had their phones on them. Xiao suddenly got up and drew all the curtains closed prompting Aether to lead Lumine and Kaeya into the basement. Xiao follows them quickly after locking the basement door. After they made it to the basement, they stepped into another room, and entered a code that locked them in. Xiao took out his phone and called Dain. "Hey, is Diluc still with you?" Xiao asked. "Okay, they are back. We're in the panic room. Doors and windows are all locked and the curtains have been closed. I think we all got down here before anyone saw us, unless they were watching us while we were outside." Xiao nodded into the phone with an "mhm" a few times before responding "Aether had a bad feeling so we were pushed inside. Kaeya and Lumi are all safe." Xiao was silent and sighed in relief "Okay, we'll see you soon." After the call was ended he looked up at the younger kids. "Dain will be here soon." Then he turned to Kaeya "So will Diluc." Kaeya only nodded and huddled together with Lumine. He hugged Diluc's coat to himself. "What is this all about?" Kaeya asked. The three siblings looked at each other before looking back at Kaeya. "Let's wait for Diluc and Dain to be here." Xiao said before sitting down towards the door and grabbing what looked like a dagger.
When Diluc and Dain arrived, there was no sign of anyone. They both walked together and into the house with the utmost caution. After checking every place and ensuring the house was safe, Dain got the kids out. "So what was that all about?" Kaeya asked now practically glued to Diluc's side due to a certain redhead that refused to let his brother out of his arms or sight. "We've been receiving threats from someone unknown and we've been having unwanted visitors recently. They stopped for a week but... Aether's gut is normally right and Xiao is extremely vigilant. "Whoever it was seemed to be cloaked. I could barely even see them. They were well hidden." Xiao said as Diluc held Kaeya closer. "Have you reached out to the police, or anyone?" Diluc asked as he pat his brother's head. "The police increased their patrol on the street and I hired a private investigator. No leads, no mistakes, nothing." Dain sighed and Diluc could see how exhausted he was. "Have you thought about looking into staying somewhere else for the time being?" Dain shook his head. "I didn't want to endanger anyone else. The only reason I invited you guys to stay and let Lulu stay in the yard was because there hasn't been any threat for the past few weeks so I thought it would be okay." Dain rubbed his head sheepishly. "I'm not mad, this is something that is out of your control. I think that you should come stay with us for the time being. We have the room and better security, plus it's more eyes on Kaeya and Lumine." Diluc offered kindly shocking Dain. "I wouldn't want to impose on you guys." Dain said only for Diluc to shake his head. "Dain, come on. You'd never impose on us. It's just Kaeya and I, along with a few maids and the butler. Come with us." After a moment Dain nodded his head and agreed. "Each one of you pack a bag. I want us to stay together until we reach the manor." Diluc said before letting Kaeya go and walking with Dain. "Wanna help me pack, Kae?" Lumine asked and the blue haired boy nodded.
When Lumine and Kaeya were in her room, Kaeya helped Lumine pack by folding her clothes as she passed them to him. "You okay, Lumi?" Kaeya asked after some silence fell over them. "I honestly don't know. At this point, I'm numb to all of this. What about you?" She asked and he shrugged "If we've ever gotten any threats, Diluc's kept them from me. That's just how he is, he doesn't want anyone else to have to deal with it or to protect everyone else. You know how protective he is." Lumine nodded and was looking through her makeup drawer. "Anything I can help with?" Aether leaned into the door frame and watched Kaeya fold and put her clothes into her suitcase as Lumine went through her closet and drawers. "Don't worry, I already packed all I will need." The elder twin said as the other two looked at him. "I just need to pack some makeup and my electronics then I'm done. Oh, and my plushies." Aether nods and starts gathering Lumine's plushies into her backpack along with her laptop and charger cords. After a few moments Lumine was fully packed. Aether grabbed both of their bags just as Dain, Diluc, and Xiao came out each carrying a bag. "Let's go." Diluc said and quickly packed Dain's car with the luggage. After Dain, Xiao, Aether, and Lumine climbed into their car, Diluc and Kaeya got into theirs. "Y'know, Adeline's going to kill you for the extreme lack of notice." Diluc chuckled and smiled "I already sent her a message. Don't worry, she's more concerned with checking on you than scolding me about a lack of notice for guests." Kaeya rolled his eyes and looked out the window until they arrived home.
Once they arrived, Adeline was outside to greet them. Diluc grabbed his and Kaeya's luggage from the trip as the twins, Dain, and Xiao grabbed theirs. "I have set both Master Aether and Lady Lumine set up to be in the same room. There is a divider in the middle of the room so Lumine can have her privacy" Adeline showed the twins their room. "Master Xiao, your room is next to theirs. They do connect as well." After Xiao was shown his room, Dain was shown the room across from the three of them. "I will leave you all to get situated." Adeline took her leave before heading back to her normal duties. "Kaeya and I will be right back. I need to change his bandages. We'll help you unpack afterwards." Diluc said as he guided his brother into their shared room.
After having Kaeya sit on his bed, Diluc went to his dresser where he had his first aid area. "I think we need to talk about things, and maybe about doing the impatient program for a while." Diluc says as he starts to change Kaeya's bandages. "No... please... don't make me do that. Please! I wanna stay here with you! I need to be with my brother!" At this point Kaeya was hysterically crying and holding onto Diluc's shirt. The elder held him "Shh, Kaeya... shh. You need help and I will always be here for you. You know that. I want you to be safe and healthy. We can talk to Zhongli first to see what he recommends. I'm not gonna press this issue further for now." Diluc held Kaeya close in his arms and gently rubbed his back until his sobs were mere hiccups. After Kaeya was calm Diluc released him from his bear hug. After a few more moments Kaeya was only sniffling a bit and Diluc finished dressing his wounds. "Come on, I'm ordering food for delivery for everyone." Kaeya started to pout only for Diluc to fondly ruffle his hair. "I promise Dain and I will host a cookout soon. For now let's get everyone's order." Kaeya only looked up then attached himself to Diluc's back before the red head left the room.
When the two came out they saw that the others were unpacking their belongings. Diluc lowered Kaeya off of his back and went to talk with Dain in regards to their change in dinner plans. "Wanna help me unpack?" Lumine offered Kaeya knowing the teen didn't like to be left alone to his mind. The blue haired boy smiled and nodded gently grabbing out the makeup in her bag and placing it on the desk in her room. "Damn Kae, you do that almost perfectly. Do you use makeup?" He shrugged and finished the small task he assigned himself by adding her small collection of perfumes on a separate section of the desk. After a few moments Lumine was done putting away her clothes and looked at Kaeya "Wanna watch something?" Kaeya nodded and followed Lumine to the couch downstairs. After they found a mindless cartoon they grabbed some snacks and a few sodas then just spread out across the sofa. After a bit Xiao and Aether joined them as they had finished unpacking as well. When Diluc and Dain came down to go pick up the food they ordered they watched the kids for a few moments. "Y'know this might be a good opportunity for all of us." Dain smiled and Diluc nodded. "Kae. Dain and I are heading out to pick up the food. Xiao can you keep an eye on the kids?" The elder teen nodded and went back to watching the cartoon with the others. "Lumine, Aether. Listen to Xiao." Dain added as the two went out.
When Diluc and Dain weren't back within an hour Lumine and Kaeya were slightly anxious. Aether joked about them getting distracted and losing their way to the restaurant or just randomly stopping at places that caught Dain's eye. After two hours Aether began to worry slightly. Dain would have at least called if he thought he was going to be later than a certain amount of time. When the three hour mark his Xiao sighed "That's it I'm calling them." After a few moments of the phone ringing Xiao's eyes widened as he tried to reach Dain multiple times. After seeing Xiao not being able to contact Dain, Kaeya whipped out his phone and quickly called Diluc. After several attempts to get in contact with their guardians, each with no success the teens all looked utterly miserable. Xiao brought out his phone and pulled up his tracker. Dain had it so only Xiao, Aether, Lumine and him could see their locations at all times. Xiao's face was contoured with concern, fear, and sadness only to fall into a neutral look. "Dain turned off his tracking. I cannot see where he is..." Xiao trailed off. His voice was calm but under his demeanor he was quietly shaking in concern. After a few moments the teens decided to put on a movie and agreed to wait for it to be over before trying them again.
"Okay, but-" "No." Diluc cuts Dain off as he jumps in on the driver's side of Dain's van. "You literally ran through several red lights and almost got into an accident multiple times. Not to mention you took so many wrong turns and got us lost... in a damn dead zone. Kaeya and Xiao were on the verge of a panic attack." Diluc started the car and began to drive home in record time while still obeying all traffic laws. After a little bit of driving they arrived home and ran in with the food. "Hey everyone, we have the food." Dain said in a cheerful tone while Kaeya ran to Diluc and hugged him. "Hey, we're okay. I promise, we only got lost in a dead zone. Remember, I called as soon as I could. I promise we're okay. You're okay." Kaeya decided to stay attached to Diluc during dinner. After dinner was over Diluc sent everyone to bed.
"Hey." Kaeya said when they got to their room. "Can we talk?"
