Cat balled his fist as he stared at the Christmas tree. He was so tired of the pain of Mother being gone, of Father ignoring him, being alone….
No, he breathed in and out. The tree is a symbol of joy, and I must not destroy it. Snowflakes had gathered in his hair, and Cat felt cold. He should go home, but home was cold and lonely.
Marinette. He would go to Marinette's and have a cup of coca. .Cat turned and left the Christmas lights far behind, crunching through the thick snow.
"Cat, what were you doing out in that storm?"Marinette took his hands, noticing how cold they were.
"Christmas is a lonely time, Princess." "Not if I have anything to say about it. Your family."
Cat smiled, his Princess was as feisty as his Bugaboo, and she led him upstairs.
Cat loved the cozy living room with the festive Christmas lights glowing, and he curled himself into a warm blanket, watching Marinette.
A warm sweet smell filled the air and Cat sighed feeling sleepy. It was safe here, warm.
"And some Christmas cookies, gingerbread your favorite. Now, scoot over so…."
Cat didn't let her finish, laying his head in her lap. Hot chocolate could wait. He was home, cozy and surrounded by the Christmas he looked upon with scorn, now peacefully twinkling in the reflection of his love.
