hello again friends. i know that i've deleted my past two stories. the plot and story-line that i had come up with just didn't flow at all, and i just couldn't make it work, even when i tried to rewrite it and thought it would work that way.
this story, however, i very much so intend to make work because i honestly love what i came up with. it's going to be one hell of a roller coaster, but please stay with it. in the next chapter will be a preface with some warnings that will carry through the story, but the warnings will only happen once, so please read through them and consider them carefully before you continue to read. throughout the story there will be short warnings in bold at the top of the chapter regarding anything that happens in THAT SINGLE CHAPTER. so please, please, PLEASE, read carefully and thoroughly.
onto the story - please enjoy, and i highly encourage and welcome any reviews that come my way.
The Letters
Harry Potter found the letter lying at the top of his packed trunk that was in his dorm room a week after the war ended and most students, families and professors had cleared out of the castle.
It read:
"Harry,
You've been my best friend since you first put up with my high and mighty attitude on the train on the way to Hogwarts our first year. Even with your fame and your tendency to get into situations that no one else could even manage thinking of, I wouldn't have ever wished for anyone but you, no matter how many whispers or looks we got from the start. You've been my whole life now, and I can't even imagine my life without you.
We've been through so much together, with Ronald too. Your friendship has consumed me, no matter the scars or injuries or punishments that we've gotten from our adventures.
I'll never forget your hugs; the way you envelope me and make me feel so safe - or the way you let me lay against you and read my novels. No matter how much you've bothered me again and again about your essays or potions or anything else, I've always been happy just to spend time with you on top of everything else in our crazy lives.
I can't explain just how sorry I am and will be for the remainder of the time until I'm able to return.
I need you to look after Ronald, and look after yourself. Take care of those who have lost the ones we all have come to love, and speak for those who can't speak for themselves. Your voice has always been the most powerful thing - other than your magic - that you can contribute, so use it to better those who need you.
Please don't look for me. I promise I'll be alright.
With my love,
You're dearest friend - Hermione Granger
P.S. Please don't get into any horrific situations when I'm not there. It's time to be safe now, and I expect you to remain alive and safe in the time it takes me to return.
P.P.S. Marry Ginny Weasely before you're grey and old. You deserve happiness, and so does she.
Ronald Weasely found the letter hidden in the sweater his mother made for him that Christmas.
It read:
"Ronald Weasely,
Don't you dare throw this letter away because you don't wish to read.
You've always held a special place in my heart. You've stood up for me, stood by me, and still stand by me. When people called me names or hurt me in any way, you were always there to help me back on my feet or do whatever we needed to do to get out of there.
If your love of food surpasses the amount that your stomach can hold, then my gratitude for you surpasses anything else we could think of.
I know how devastated your family is and will continue to be for a while, but I need you to be strong in light of my absence as well. I'll come back looking for you all, so please do whatever it takes to put the war behind you in my absence. I expect you to have a good, healthy life when I come back.
Please take care of Harry, and don't let him look for me. Don't come after me either.
I love you,
Hermione"
Draco Malfoy glanced at his window when the owl landed and pecked at it. Unfolding his long frame from the mattress, he opened the window, fed the owl, took the letter, and then sent the creature back to wherever it came from.
The letter read:
"Draco Malfoy,
You may not believe me after the years of hatred, vileness, and pain that you've inflicted upon me and my friends, but I believe that you'll find your voice one day and become more than you are now and have been.
Use that to become the person your younger self imagined you to be.
One day the world will need you - I expect you to be there for it.
They will speak up for you; don't hide.
Sincerely,
H.G."
