Chapter Ten: Nova Roma
(Royal Castle, France)
"Now how am I going to find Setesh?" Danny asked.
He is sitting and watch the Jaffa in the court's training yard. The Jaffa practiced early in the morning before their duties began. They practiced archery, close quarters combat, and dueling with weapons.
"You need to perform a locator spell." Qetsiyah said.
"How would I do that?" Danny asked Qetsiyah while sitting on a curule chair and tapping on the data pad.
"Who trained you?" Qetsiyah asked. "How do you not know how to do something so basic yet can connect with the Other Side?"
"My people tracked people differently." Danny said. "That is why I came to you."
That is one of the reasons he went looking for the witches. His B.I.R.D.S. needed a place to start searching. Qetsiyah and her fellow witches had no need to know the location of where the target is to find them.
"You will need a map, malleable material, and something that is connected to the man you wish to track." Qetsiyah said.
"I can get what you need." Danny said as he typed.
He heard footsteps approach him from behind.
"I wish to speak to you." Bishop Bousset said.
The Bishop is an old man with gray hair that falls down the sides. His brown eyes are partially obscured by the eyelids that have started sinking with old age.
"You are interrupting my conversation." Danny said annoyed.
He knew it would happen eventually but right now is not the best time.
"I see no one else around you." Bishop Bousset said turning his head around him.
"That does not mean that I am alone." Danny said turning to the old man with a sigh. "What do you wish to talk about?"
"I have heard word that your people have been heard worshipping a pagan goddess." Bishop Bousset said. "I wish to convert you and your people to see the wisdom of Christ."
"You can talk to my warriors, but I don't believe that you will have much luck there." Danny said. "Their belief in Nirtti is strong."
"The belief you have in this goddess will lead you to hell." Bishop Bousset said presenting his bible. "Don't you wish save your soul and the souls of your men?"
"Shouldn't you be trying to unify your religion before forcing it onto someone else?" Danny asked. "The Protestants and the Catholics are near war and your god has not appeared to stop them."
"We are all still children of the same god." Bishop Bousset said. "If we decide to fight you and your followers than not even your goddess can protect you. You and your heretics will burn."
That was a step too far.
"You dare to threaten me? You dare to threaten my people?" Danny asked standing up and facing the bishop.
"D-e-m-o-n." Bishop Bousset stammered as he fell back to the ground.
"You should be very careful with what you say." Danny said as he used his power to shroud himself in an aura of terror.
Bishop Bousset ran off back to the castle.
"I see that you like to be dramatic in the morning." Qetsiyah snarked.
"He should be happy I let him live." Danny said. "There is no way that we are ever going to get along."
Anyway, this gave him an excuse to grant the wish his Jaffa had been asking about.
He sat back in his seat and lifted the data pad to his hand and changed the screen. He wanted to see how far the study of the Alteran healing cube had gone.

"Do you want something?" King Henry asked.
"Yes." Danny said. "I want you to bar the door to the chambers that Bishop Bousset uses to hold mass."
"What?" Queen Catherine asked.
"You can claim that one of the glass paintings has been shattered and that you are planning to replace them." Dany said.
"Why would I do that?" King Henry asked.
"I have heard of your problem with the archduke, and I would like to offer you a solution." Danny said as he stood before the King and Queen of France.
"How are you going to do that?" King Henry asked.
"Like this." Danny said raising his hand up to his face and using technopathy to connect with the bracelet he is wearing under his long sleeve.
A white ring began at his feet and enveloped him and when it finished Prince/King Francis stood in his place.
"You turned into Francis?" Queen Mary asked.
"This way your family can meet with the Archduke without him thinking that anything is amiss." Danny said.
"You really think that you can pass off as my son?" King Henry asked.
"I have methods that can copy Prince/King Francis." Danny said. "The only way you would not know is him is if I told you."
"If that is true then how can I ever know that I have gotten my heir back?" King Henry asked rising. "Why should I not tell my men to throw you in the dungeon."
"If you try that then I will know we are past the point of talking." Danny said as he reverted back to normal, and his eyes began to glow. "My Jaffa will blow this castle to pieces, and I can choose somewhere new to stay."
He extended an aura of fear and terror around the room just as he did with the bishop.
"I understand." King Henry said as he slumped down into his seat.
"Alert my Jaffa when the Archduke arrives, and I will be ready." Danny said then turned and walked out of the throne room.

(Jade Arrow, Mars)
"You have something that you wish to say Kada?" Danny asked as he stared outside at the pyramid of Telchak.
"Is that one of your new swords?" Kada asked entering the room.
"Yes." Danny said as he summoned the sword at his side to his left hand.
He had finally finished his first sword and so put the sword of Telchak away. The handle and energy matrix are made of a triennium alloy so that it had immense durability. He kept the snake designs as a tribute to Telchak in gratitude for the sword. The crystal in the center drew forth power that would flow into the emitter and give it form. When activated the weapon turned into an energy blade. By pressing the handle in the guard, it could be launched at the enemy in a wave that would kill one hundred men in a single swing.
He created the crystal through a mix of Naquadah and melted rubies. The mixture gave it an intimidating red color.
"It is beautiful." Kada said looking at the blade.
"I know but I doubt it is why you came to see me." Danny said.
"I have my concerns." Kada said. "Are you sure that you should be bringing such items to someone that we cannot be sure is an ally or enemy?"
He is referring to Isis and Osiris.
"I like to believe she can be trusted to perform the search." Danny said. "If we leave Setesh hidden in the world it could end up becoming a disaster."
He had to find him before he left for the meeting with Nirtti.
"How do you plan to act once you receive the information?" Kada asked.
"I plan to send B.I.R.D.S. to survey the area before I send Jaffa in to attack." Danny said.
Setesh has survived these last thousand years by mind controlling people into working for him. He more than likely has guards that watch over the area he calls home.
Attacking recklessly would just send him running.
"I have a mission for you to perform while the B.I.R.D.S. are scouting Kada." Danny said.
"Yes, my king?" Kada asked.
"There are two Chappa'ai on this planet. There is one buried in Giza and another in the Artic." Danny said. "I want you to send an Al'kesh to go and pick them up."
"Where do you wish for me to send them?" Kada asked.
"We will store them in the temple of Telchak for the moment." Danny said.

"I have gathered the materials." Danny said as he placed the jars on the ground.
"What is in those jars?" Qetsiyah asked.
"Something connected to the man that I wish to capture." Danny said.
"Very well." Qetsiyah said as she placed her hands on the canopic jars.
He felt the shift of power. Not as intense as the one in the cave that trapped Silas but still enough to gain his attention.
"I have the location." Qetsiyah said as she lifted her hand.
'Here we go again.' Danny thought as he felt the location be put into his head.
The sensation still felt like a knife going to the brain.
"My king?" Kada asked as he approached. "Are you alright?"
"No need to worry." Danny said with a grimace as he shook his head.
Danny used the data pad to project the coordinates Qetsiyah gave him.
The location revealed itself to be somewhere in Brazil.
"Do you know what location that is?" Danny asked pointing to the red dot on the map.
"No, I do not." Qetsiyah said. "My attention never traveled that far. I can check the memories of those that have entered the Other Side."
"Thank you." Danny said watching as Qetsiyah disappeared.
How should he spend the time until he is ready to attack? That is when the idea struck him. Kirche did say that she wanted to take a trip with him.
"Nadu locate Kirche, Guiche, Montmorency, and Malicorn for me." Danny asked looking at the contact orb.

"Are you going to tell us where we are going?" Guiche asked sitting in a curule.
He had found the group listening to a court poet. They looked bored and so he grabbed their attention by telling them that he wanted to take them to a special place that he had found.
"No." Danny said. "I told you that I want it to be a surprise."
"Relax Guiche. I am sure it is going to be fun." Montmorency said.
"How are we going to get to this place?" Malicorn asked.
"That way." Danny said pointing at the descended Tel'Tak.
"What in the world is that?" Guiche asked with wide eyes.
"It's a ship." Danny said.
"i have never heard of a ship that flies?" Lady Gabriella asked.
"Think of it as a carriage." Danny said. "We are going to be flying to an Al'kesh. It is faster so it will take us the rest of the way."
"I-i-i-s -i-t-t- s-s-a-f-f-f-e-e?" Malicorn asked glancing at the Tel'tak.
"Perfectly." Danny said walking from his chair to the Tel'tak door as it opened.
"How long will we be gone?" Lady Gabrielle asked.
"Just a couple of hours." Danny said looking into her mind. "Don't worry we will be back with plenty of time for the King and Queen's dinner later tonight."
She is worried that he would miss the arrival of the Archduke Ferdinand and his sister Silicia. He took his seat and watched as the others followed after him. Lady Gabrielle took a seat next to him.
"I hope you don't mind that I sit next to you?" Lady Gabrielle asked.
"Not at all." Danny said putting his hand on hers.
He smiled sensing the jealousy rising in Kirche.
"This ship of yours lacks windows." Guiche said.
"Are you by chance claustrophobic?" Danny asked.
"I do not understand that word." Guiche said.
"It means that you are afraid of being in close spaces." Danny said.
Montmorency turned towards Guiche with concern.
"No. I just find this place rather cramped." Guiche answered.
"Then don't worry. We are just using the Tel'tak is going to take us to the ship and call it back when we are done." Danny said.
"Ship?" Lady Gabrielle asked looking at him.
"Yes." Danny said. "We are going to land on an Al'kesh so we can get to our destination faster."
'Is this a ship you could use for war?' Lady Gabrielle thought.
This trip would also be a good time to turn this spy.

(Dunes of Jordan)
"So, what do you think?" Danny asked as he gazed upon the sand.
"What do I think?" Guiche asked. "You brought us to the desert?"
"Yeah." Danny said. "I wanted to enjoy a day at the beach."
"None of us are prepared for coming here." Montmorency complained. "With our clothes we will pass out from the heat."
"There is no need to worry." Danny said. "I had my servants prepare everything that we would need to enjoy the trip."
The next moment the Al'kesh deployed transporter ring to their location. Inside the rings were a small tower of suitcases. Danny snapped his fingers and his outfit changed to a pair of black shorts with green flames and a pair of sandals.
He watched as the Al'kesh flew off into the distance. It would continue to Giza and begin its mission.
Another Al'kesh would come and bring them back to the castle. The group around him would not be able to tell the difference.
"Where can we change?" Malicorn asked picking up his case.
"Kirche, Montmorency, and Gabrielle can change in the Tel'tak. For the guys there are sand dunes everywhere." Danny said. "Pick one. If you need help say something."
They grouped together and walked off to change. He opened the case with his name on it and started unpacking. His case used pocket dimension technology so that it could fit all that they needed. The beach towels, the grill, the refrigerator, the volleyball and its net.
"What?" Montmorency shouted.
The shriek was so loud that he had no doubt that it could travel across the desert.
"Is there something the matter?" Danny asked with a smile watching the Tel'tak.
"I can't come out wearing this!" Montmorency shouted. "It's indecent!"
"Guiche is going to lose his mind when he sees it on you." Kirche said
"I would pass out of embarrassment if Guiche saw me where this." Montmorency denied.
He had learned from Kirche that Guiche and Montmorency are to be married in the summer. Their parents had this arrangement set up for years that it would happen when both of their children turned eighteen.
"What is going to cause me to lose my mind?" Guiche asked as he came back wearing red trunks.
"Come on." Kirche said as she walked out of the Tel'tak holding Montmorency's hand.
He had given her a red bikini set that matched her hair with white stripes. The contrast with her dark skin created a beautiful sight.
"Very well." Montmorency said as she walked outside with one arm covering her bellybutton. "What do you think?"
She is wearing a blue and white bikini.
"Y-y-ou lo-o-k- v-e-r-r-y- n-i-i-c-c-e." Guiche stuttered out.
He is so shocked that he had started talking like Malicorn.
"I told you he would love it." Kirche said as she walked to join the group.
"How do you think that I look?" Lady Gabrielle asked as she exited the Tel'tak.
Her bikini is a black set that drew attention to her olive skin and blonde hair.
"You look wonderful." Danny said walking to her and put his arm around her waist. "Now all that left is Malicorn and we can have some fun."
He felt Kirche's annoyance at the closeness between him and Lady Gabrielle.
"I'm here." Malicorn said running to them in his blue trunks and the case in his hand. "I saw an Oasis nearby with fruit."
"Are you sure it was not a mirage?" Guiche asked.
"He is right." Danny confirmed. "The oasis is the reason that I brought us to this area instead of another beach."
"Is it safe to explore?" Kirche asked.
"I believe so." Danny said.
He focused his thoughts to Lady Gabrielle.
'Yes, my ships can be used in the event that a war happens.' Danny thought to her.
He felt her hand tighten in surprise at that.
'Don't panic.' Danny thought to her. 'Think the word and I will hear them.'
'How are you doing this?' Lady Gabrielle asked surprised.
'Yes. I can read your thoughts and project mine into you. It is how I know you serve Queen Catherine.' Danny thought to her. 'I also know how you serve Queen Catherine.'
'What are you going to do to me?' Lady Gabrielle asked.
'Nothing. I want you to become mine.' Danny thought as he rubbed his thumb on the outside of her palm.
'I don't understand.' Lady Gabrielle said.
'I want you to serve me and keep me appraised of whatever scheme Queen Catherine might plan.' Danny thought to her.
He knew that his birds could miss something. That the King and Queen could send someone on a secret mission, so it was best to make sure that he had multiple ways to find out their secrets.
'What will you give me?' Lady Gabrielle asked. 'To betray the Queen is no easy thing.'
It just required a proper motivation. One of her ladies betrayed her schemes against Queen Mary for safety in Scotland because Queen Catherine wanted her to keep tabs on King Henry.
'I have the power of a king. My lands stretch further than the eye can see.' Danny thought as he explained what he wanted from her right now. 'There is little that I cannot give you.'
"Can I talk to you for a moment." Kirche asked.
He sensed that she wanted to talk to him away from Gabrielle and so he let go of his new spy and let her take him.
This should be a good way to spend a couple of hours while his Jaffa that drove the Tel'tak set everything up.
"Sure." Danny answered.
She ran up to him and took his hand. She led him from the landing site.

"You wanted to tell me something?" Danny asked Kirche as decided that they were far enough and stopped walking.
"I know something that I think that you should learn." Kirche said.
"Yes?" Danny asked glancing at the ring of trees around them.
This location had the advantage that it would allow them to see anyone that tried to approach them.
"You shouldn't trust Lady Gabrielle." Kirche said.
"You mean because she is a spy." Danny said surprising her.
"You know?" Kirche asked.
"I try to make sure that I know what people want from me." Danny said walking up to her. "Still, I appreciate that you were worried about me."
"I would do anything for a friend of mine." Kirche said as she looked away with a blush.
"Such kindness should be appreciated." Danny said putting his hand on her chin and brought her eyes back to his. "Especially in French Court."
He kissed her on the lips and felt as she lost the strength to stand.
He pulled back and watched as she slumped to the ground with a smile on her face. "We can join the others when you are ready."
He took a seat next to her and just enjoyed the seconds passing.

"Francis?" Queen Mary asked.
"This is a duplicate." Danny answered Queen Mary. "Prince/King Francis is still on my ship."
"I thought the idea was for you to disguise yourself as Francis?" Queen Catherine asked.
"I thought about that, but I figured it would be a kind gesture for you to invite your guest to meet the archduke." Danny said.
"Are you thinking about kidnapping the archduke's sister?" Queen Mary asked.
"I already have a wonderful place to stay in your castle." Danny said.
"That does not answer my question." Queen Mary said.
"I just want Lady Gabrielle to meet the man who could be the future Holy Roman Emperor." Danny said taking Lady Gabrielle's hand.
"Thank you, my lord." Lady Gabrielle said bringing his hand to hers and kissing it. "I would be honored that you want to bring me with you."
He could feel the satisfaction the Queen did her best to hide.
"Very well. "King Henry said with an annoyed glare. "Let's go and receive them."
Danny created the duplicate and handed him the holographic illusion projector.

"I hear that you are a fan of churches." Fake Prince/King Francis said as he lifted his fork and brought the sausage to his mouth.
"Yes. I make it a habit to travel to churches and see the beauty in the design." Archduke Ferdinand said.
"Summer is upon us so how about we travel together to the holy sites of France." Fake Prince/King Francis said. "We can visit beautiful churches, execution grounds of those that martyred themselves for Christ, oversee the guards as they pass alms to the poor."
He hoped the man enjoyed his trip. He planned to send another duplicate on the trip as he had better things to do with his time.
"So, you are a friend of the Medici family?" Lady Cecillia asked.
Danny sensed the lust coming from King Henry as he glanced at Lady Cecillia.
He had to come up with a way to save Lady Silicia while she stayed in the castle. It is in preparation for his conquest when the vacation is over. The Hapsburg monarchy controlled much of Europe at the moment.
He thought of turning her into a vampire. It would be the easiest of the methods. Inject her with vampire blood and let the events play out with minimal influence.
He also wanted to know if Nish'ta would work on the vampires and werewolves.
"I like to think so." Danny said. "I am so grateful that King Henry and Queen Catherine have allowed me to stay at the castle."
"He has been a joy to have in the castle." Fake Prince/King Franics said. "He helped me find my brother Sebastian and repair our relationship."
King Henry and Queen Mary turned to the duplicate. He could feel their horror at the statement.
"How wonderful." Lady Cecilia said. "I believe that it is truly terrible when family fights."
"This is a lovely meal." Archduke Ferdinand said.
"We only hire the best chefs in the country." King Henry said as he looked to his fish, and he began to cut it rather violently.
He felt King Henry's temper growing.
"Dearest brother I wonder if we could take one back to Austria with us?" Archduchess Cecilia asked.
"As a gesture of peace, it would be no trouble to loan you a chef." Queen Catherine said laughing.
"I only wish peace between us could be so easy as to trade with cooks." Archduke Ferdinand said.
"This is a dinner. Let us keep official talks for the office." Fake Prince/King Francis said.
